Great, huge and modern national museum! A must for Kazakhstan visitors. Many explanations in English. Unfortunately, the eagle in the entrance area could not fly, as I had read before.

Absolutely excellent. They appear to be gradually moving exhibits from other city museums to this overarching museum. A wide range of topics and exhibits.

Its a huge place but lack the number of exhibits in order to fully justify its size. There are some interesting video walls where you can project by choice historical facts. A souvenir shop, gardarobe and WC are of course available. We did not take a guided tour and I cannot say If it is worth taking one. Comprehensively speaking I found Almaty city Museum a place far more better structured than this new Palace Museum

Not a fan of museums but this one is very worthy of a visit. Interesting exhibits, also available in English, and admission fee is very cheap too.

Most of the exhibits were in English which was nice since its the only language I speak. It was a very nice museum that had many things ranging from history of Kazakhstan and even a modern art area. I spent 4 hours here with my girlfriend but I could of easily spent more here. It would of been nice to have a guided tour but other than that it was a very nice museum

Im a huge patriot of Kazakhstan, tho I wish our museum had more exhibits representing contemporary artists. Les vernissages should be much more frequent. For instance, on the 10th of June 2022 I had visited an exhibit of this amazing Kazakh painter, Khassen Abayev whose art pieces just took my breath away: very engaging, very powerful!

Beautiful museum, nice collection of Kazakhstan in the middle ages. Lovely photography of Kazakhstan in the 20th centuries. Do visit the gold room, could easily spend a day only there. Give it at least 3 hours to go through every collection.

I really enjoyed checking out the many different exhibits and learning a bit about Kazakh history. Exhibits span a wide selection of history, from prehistoric times all the way up to the modern period. There is a ton to see - I spent over four hours and still didnt get to look at everything in the museum. Also, the cafeteria downstairs is very cozy and serves warm, delicious Kazakh food and drinks.

Really neat and interesting with many different eras and history of the country. You need to be there at least 1 hour before 5 in the afternoon because the ticket office is open until 5 and the museum closes at 6.

Best museum in Central Asia. Lots of interesting stuff, well displayed, well lit (uniquely), well labeled (also uniquelyand in English. Main attraction treasury of golden finds was unexplainably closed, so only 4 stars.

The museum is one of the nicer ones in Astana. A lot of art and history. A lot to see and big rooms to explore. The building is very impressive.However. What makes me give it 3 stars is the golden hall.A ridiculus cash grab. The entrance to the hall is more expensive than the whole museum. The entrance to the hall makes no sense. It is flashy ans a lot of lights.. but it has nothing to do with the gold. Then after that you get to look at some gold artefacs.. that frankly are not worth the money.Definitly visit the museum.. but do not visit the golden hall..(Tip! Monday its closed and every last tuesday of the month.. found that out the hard way :-()

Grand museum with a lot of information and exhibits - well thought out, not just text upon text. Also a lot of attentive staff. We did not visit the golden chamber but we were short on time and our local friend said its probably not worthy in our case. The Samruk and its egg in the foyer is stunning, and if you come at the right time it will also flap its wings. We came in October, and it was quite empty

There is only one small section here about the relocation of Ukrainians and Poles to Kazakhstan in the early 1900s. I had expected much more but perhaps I should have tempered my expectations. Unless you’re really into Kazakh musical instruments and village costumes, you may want to skip this museum. (September 2019)

If you have a spare day the national museum is a great way to learn more about Kazakhstan. It covers the history of the area known now as Kazakhstan from prehistoric times to the present day. It also has a good art gallery and hosts different exhibitions.

The museum staff have a cannot be bother attitude. There were many Russians and Kazah jumping queues and the ticket counters were more interested in selling tickets to them. I rather spend my money on a cup of Starbucks...massive customer service failure...

The National Museum of the Republic of Kazakhstan is the youngest and largest museum in Central Asia. The museum was established in the framework of the Cultural Heritage State Programme on behalf of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbayev. The museum is located on the main square of the country – the Independence Square, which harmoniously blends into the single architectural ensemble with the Қазақ Елі monument, the Independence Palace, the Palace of Peace and Harmony, the Hazret Sultan cathedral mosque and the National University of Arts. Many values identified during the Cultural Heritage State Programme constitute the invaluable fund of the National Museum of Kazakhstan.

A must visit. One of the biggest museums Ive ever seen. Oversized with not that much to see for the size but definitely a must. You can take a guided tour for very little money, we were two and had a good guide for just a few dollars.Good AC is also important. Not like in Almaty we the museum is a sauna.

Nice museum, very interesting exposition of Golden warrior. Entrance fee for adult 1700 and 300 tenge for a child. It has 7 stores, and each has some interesting exhibitions. You are allowed to take pictures on the phone, and if you want to take your camera inside you have to pay extra 500 tenge

Beautiful museum, has exhibits that go back in history to 6-8 BCE and all the way forward to nowadays Kazakhstan. I studied in kazakh school and although I learnt a lot of the history covered in the museum in my Kazakhstan history class, I still found some new exhibits we didnt study in class. Tours are available in Kazakh, Russian and English and are conducted professionally. I highly recommend folks (especially tourists coming from overseasattend it.

Enjoyable museum over numerous floors to visit. I didnt get the audio tour and feel I probably missed out by not taking that option, so I would recommend doing that when you visit. I spent about an hour and a half here, some exhibits were closed and I did go through some slightly faster.

If I were a tourist in Astana I would definitely visit this museum. Besides permanent collection which includes Kazakhstan’s history and culture, the museum often hosts world-known exhibitions. Tretyakov Gallery is one of many examples.

This museum is almost empty. Although some discripton tells it is free we had to pay for the visit. In addition it was over priced. The exhibition is not so new after visiting other museums in Kazakhstan. They have some good souvenir shops on the ground-floor, which are very pricey. The audiogade tells much more information then its on the display. Eventually this museum is about the president.

The best part is the building itself. For a thousand tenge the basic ticket is not expensive but the exhibition is nothing breathtaking either. English audio guide was rather poor in my opinion, often listing names and numbers. Also not always clearly expressing what I was supposed to look at. The player misses a fast forward function. The cafe downstairs is very basic.

New and huge and thats basically it. Many descriptions are in English but it lacks general information in many rooms. Unclear ticketing system so you might end up not being able to enter some rooms. If youre a fan of propaganda material, this is definitely a place for you. Presidents name is glorified numerous times. Many multimedia elements didnt work and it was very cold inside so dont leave your jacket in the cloakroom.

They do not allow our Kazakh guides to guide the guests through the Museum. This would be acceptable if they had their own English speaking Museum guides, but it happened several times already that there was no Museum guide avaiable and they would still insist that our guide couldnt tell anything, so the guests had to walk quietly through the Museum and had a very disappointing experience of a Museum which would be actually very nice. Its a shame.

Its a brand-new musum. Very big, clean and well staffed. So many things to see here. I just wish they have more art. They also do guided tour in English. Just ask if you need one. Its better to take guided tour as its a big meseum and different halls have different in and out gares and very easy to lose track that what part you have seen and what left.

Beautiful museum. Entry fee is 600 KZT, but if you want Gold Road, you will pay 1100 KZT. Opening hours is from 10am till 18pm except mondays (thats closed). Multimedia room just amazed me, so many diplays on the ground and the wall with projection is unbeliavable. Must see! :)

Pros: Cool building. Cheap entry. Decent pre-history display. Additional arts exhibit and visiting/temporary displaysCons: Astana room is kinda blank. Other than military/political items theres no modern social history displays. Contemporary art exhibit is dull and lacks variety compared to European galleries. Have to pay extra for gold rooms.

Love it! I recommend visiting at 3pm since there is a grand show with a huge flying golden bird in the main hall starting at this time. You have to book an English speaking guide in advance, and you can always rent an audio guide. The halls of ancient history and etnography are really good.

Nice museum. The exhibitions include ancient and medieval history, Hall of Astana, ethnography, nomadic times and modern history as well. You need to pay an extra 1000T fit the Hall of Gold but I found it interesting. Lots of gold jewellery and decorated items are on display and the audio guide is included. Generally there are not much detailed descriptions which made it less informative so I would recommend the audio guide.
