Renaissance items from the collection of the Musee de Cluny in a chateau built during the times.
Nice place, calm... Clean... Peaceful
Très beaux château et musée dans le 95. Ayant payé seulement 5 euros, on a visité tellement de choses.Je recommande !
Well kept and charming museum. The staff are polite and welcoming. Entrance is free for anyone 25 and under. There are several floors and rooms to see, so plan your trip accordingly if you like to take your time to view and read the information.
This beautiful chateau dominates the local skyline. I visit for company celebrations at least twice a year. It is a great place for a walk and to enjoy the architectural beauty of the building, but like many French monuments it lacks content and a story. The small restaurant is ok for lunch, but if you want real magnificence get to chantilly.
Fantastic museum to visit! If youre into history/art history this castle providers 3 stories of very interesting, well presented and well documented pieces. Staff is readily available and very nice. I made a daytrip out of Paris out of it - few hours in the museum, a very lovely cup of hot chocolate at the café in the Tourist center, a stroll in the park. The entrance fee is very reasonable too and most importantly - theres no crowds of people like in the musums in central Paris.
Very nice collections and nice staff
Super !
Very beautiful place. I recommend 👌
Super! Wonderul collection of arms and armor.
Super
Great museum though out of the way.
Cool
This imposing 16th century Chateau-Museum is well worth a visit if you are in the area. The place is huge and gives a good impression of a Renaissance Chateau and art. Fireplaces, paving stones, armour, tapestries, stained glass etc etc
An embarrassment of richesFirst of you, this is an absolute must see. A quite stunning collection of treasures in an extraordinarily beautiful castle. But really, while it gets 10/10 for the collections the standard of interpretation is very poor. Some galeries have extremely hard to read (in the low lightingcomposite labels far away from the artworks they are explaining. Others have qr codes (bad luck if your phone isn’t workingtaking you to lengthy essays from which you will struggle to identify many objects. The stand out collection of tapestries barely gets any interpretation. Whoever is the director of this museum - and one assumes it is a fairly prestigious position - needs to make an effort to improve things.
Its a very good museum, in a stunning Renaissance château. The collections are interesting and you get a lovely walk through the forest to get there. The only issue is that the collections are not always explained in depth - it really lacks explicative panels. Fantastic place to go, though, when you know the history behind the monument.
One of the least visited and yet most interesting museums north of Paris. Very diverse collection, well-explained, and a wonderful castle to house it. I have made the trek out there 3 or 4 times and always enjoyed it!
It is very underrated, comparing to most museums in Paris or Loire were the entrances are 11-15 euro, here you can enter with 5 euro and the museum is very rich and interesting . It was the lowest price I found while in France. It stands above the little city Ecouen, so it has a nice view. A huge plus is the restaurant of the museum surrounded by lavander where you can have have a very nice meal for a fair price :)
Nice to visit but a bit small as it took us les than an hour to go through the exhibits and there were no visit that day. Call ahead to confirm the guided visits
Beautiful place. A beautiful forest around and a wonderful view.
Beautiful place. I loved it!
Nice place to visit
Good museum to see.
The museum of the French Renaissance, was built in XVI century for Anne de Montmorency, the Connétable de France, chief minister and commander of the French army of King Francois I, and then for Henri II. After the visit take a walk around the castle to enjoy the view.
Love that they have free light to the public at night and if visiting it only cost 5 euro for entrance and if you visit tourist me of Roissy they even have shuttle service to take you there for free too win win :)
This place is excellent and on height like mountain we can see more better outside view with bionocular (zoomealenjoyable historical place. As minus point only one thing there is very few public trassport from railway station to museum only one bus 269 ratp not other bus choose
The château was built between 1539 and 1555 for Anne de Montmorency, the Connétable de France. It opened in 1977 as the French National Museum of the Renaissance and contains important collections of painting, sculpture, ceramics, stained glass, furniture, textiles and other arts of the Renaissance. Worth visiting.
Nice location and architecture, and a superb 7 piece renaissance tapestry about the story of David and Bathseba, lus a huge collection of arts and craft (jewellery, enamels, glassesfrom this period. Fascinating.
beautiful château
Calm place with good exposition
top
This museum is a bit of the hidden gem. The collections of French Renaissance art are outstanding and the castle is a remarkably consistent and well preserved example of French Renaissance architecture. Ive been there several times and have only ever seen a handful of visitors, plus the occasional group of school kids. If youre only going to see one museum in Paris the Louvre certainly has a larger and more prestigious collection of Renaissance paintings and sculptures while the decorative arts collections are pretty similar. However, if you have an extra day and want to get away from the crowds while also enjoying a stroll in the park I highly recommend this museum. Somewhat surprisingly there is also a very notable collection of Iznik ceramics which we were surprised to stumble upon during our first visit.
Magnificent
Dramatic Chateau from the 16th century, currently the museum of the Renaissance. Great building, its huge. And even on a saturday afternoon not crowded like Versailles. Dont expect lavish interiors but there are a lot of cool fireplaces and pieces of art. For me the best part is the chateau itself.
Excellent place. The antiques and pieces of history show the mindset and culture of the people that lived during the Renaissance
Fine tapestries and some unique objects. You need to be OK with stairs.
Beautiful building, nice collectio
A beautiful chateau offering nice views and some really interesting Renaissance items. Quiet and not overcrowded.
Beautiful calm and quite place 15 mins drive from saint denis
Very nice castle (fortressnot a lot of people, price is nice 5 euros for full tariff, and for groups discounts. This place has very reach collections. I really recommend.
The visit is very pleasant. The architecture and the view from the terrasse are remarkable
Another beautiful castle and cool museum, free for EU citizens under 26
