Its a must see place in Vigan. It tells you a lot about history and culture. The architecture is great. The guides are friendly. Restrooms are clean.
The contents of the exhibition were not known because there was no guide. But I was able to avoid the heat for a while because it was cool inside. Hahaha
very clean and the staff are ready to respond, specially the security staff.
Historical place, you will experience the time way back great era of lates president, guards are polite, crews inside are organized. Important memorabilia wa well preserved.
No video recording allowed. Only pictures
The staff are very accomodate and the information is great
The photo exhibition for Filipino food was outstanding. Entrance to the entire museum is free. Learn a lot from the helpful tour guide. Great way to start the visit to Vigan.
Interesting explanation of the local trade in Basi and the impact of the Spanish. Quite an eye opener!
Nice place..
A quick tour to see exotic animals so they only have few. Better to avail their Baluarte adventure which cost 250/head which includes the shuttle. Overall enjoyed it
Loved it! This was the first time that we went here and doesnt know that very well regarding the said Museum. I only see it everytime that I go into this place. You can find this place on the other side of the Library. You can see in front of it the title of the Museum. There were guards outside and inside of the Museum. They need to brief you of what is just allowed to do whenever that you are inside and roam around. When we got there, phone cameras were not allowed, only taking pictures can. You can see a lot of old historical keepsakes inside then you can notice that there were some history that are being written, sometimes with the visual history on the video area. You can even ask someone from the staffs who were working there.
The Jose Burgoz house is currently undergoing maintenance works so some of the parts are off limits to visitors while the former Provincial Jail and Library has been restored and is fully functional. There is an ongoing Neal Oshima food photography exhibit when we visited. Air conditioned and well secured. Closed on Mondays.
A must visit when you are in Ilocos Sur.
Very memorable and educational experience. People are very accomodating and courteous. Calesa experience is superb!
Lovely museum, big in size and history. And has air conditioning!
Their rules on no panoramic pictures is stupid. If other museums allow it, how is taking a panoramic picture inside such beautiful places harmful to the history or the place itself? The security guards were overbearing, bordering on rude. They need your guides to provide narratives on the spaces and images in the museums.
For those who loves Padre Burgos, this is a must-see stop! Youll see and learn more about our martyr priest who died during the Spanish era.
If you have time to learn and feel the old town vibes... Go for it! No entrance fees
Loved it. Nice to see places like this being preserved. Plus its free
The museum is closed Mondays so schedule your visit on other days.NatMu is a huge complex combining the previous Burgos museum (home of Padre Burgos, one of the 3 GomBurZa priest martyrsand a separate space in the complex. The other building shows info on how Basi is made and the Basi revolution. Some stuff from theSyquia mansion (former Phil President Quirino itemsare now transferred here.
It showcases the rich culture of ilocanos but its lacking of other displays.
The place is really good for student field trips and visitors from other places.Informative.Free entrance.Nice way to fill your schedule when visiting Ilocos Sur.
Original oil paintings from the 1800s on display and some history of the local government.
Make it in your list historical museum in ilocos.
Fantastic exhibit of Ilocano culture and heritage focus on wine making as well as textile weaving and embroidery. The Father Burgos House is great and the Quirino exhibit at the jail is also great. A nice twist are the art exhibits, one vintage series about the basi revolt and another by modern artist Neil Colorico.
It was worth seeing all the historical thing is there.really Vigan and this museum is full of the Ilocano History..so a thumbs up to all the beautiful places and museums in Vigan.
Spoliarium. Need i say more??Go here to see Filipino artists greatest works of art. Free entrance too!Closed on mondays though.
A MUST place to visit when in Vigan.
President Quirinos belongings was preserved well here. No entrance fee. We can also see here some old artifacts and paintings during the basi revolt.
Really interesting history especially about the weaving history of Ilocos.
The Fr. Burgos side of the museum had just a few annotations, so some exhibits were hard to follow. However, they was an excellent exhibit when I visited on traditional Philippine weaving, which was well curated. The opposite side of the museum is largely dedicated to President Quirino, who was born at the site of the museum (a former prison). We had a staff member serve as docent who provided detailed insights into the Presidents life and tenure. I also enjoyed seeing the special Womens History Month photography exhibit of indigenous Filipino ethic groups. Overall, a great free stop on your visit to Vigan to learn about Filipino history.
Well organized and displayed artifacts. Especially liked the ancestral house display. More history here than can be absorbed in one visit.
Its a nice place. Very informative and educational. Its air conditioned and they allow to take photos inside. No entrance fee.
Its worth a visit
Its a must go place when you go to vigan... a place of heritage and history of our country phil.
One of the displays that you will see in the National Museum is the Basi, which is part of their history ,the "Basi Revolt" during the Spanish Era . I was really astonished on how Ilocanos able to preserve their culture.
Worth the visit, lalo na para sa mga kids
This used to be the municipal jail house converted to a museum and I really appreciated the well thought out exhibits which gave me a deeper understanding of the history and culture of Vigan.
A good place to visit and have quick look at Philippine history. Well preserved antiques used by the former Philippine President Elpidio Quirino can be viewed here. Many other stuff like mural paintings are kept and displayed here. One will get to know more of the rich Philippine history vising this place.
Nice Historic and iconic place in Vigan. a must not miss place.
This place is well preserved and maintained! If you want a good story and history, just drop by on this place! Its FREE!
Exhibits are focused more on former Pres. Elpidio Quirino antiques and preserved belongings. However other artworks, photographs and exhibits can be seen albeit with less priority.
A place to remember history, loved the series of paintings that explained the Basi revolt. Very informative and interesting. Tata Elpidios was also great- it showcased President Quirinos memorabilia. Just sad that Padre Burgos house was under renovation when we visited
It houses some of President Quirinos personal belongings and are all well preserved. The photos taken by Benigno Toda III on some of the Philippines beautiful landscapes. This place is worth visiting.
Enjoyed my visit here. Local history and artworks on display.
Very historical place. Well restored and modernized. Accessible from the Town Plaza.
Free, clean, air-conditioned and lots of interesting memorabillas and old paintings. Bags are not allowed inside so be prepared to leave your belongings at the security.
I never really enjoyed museums, but I now have a new appreciation of the north. They are not the bastion of the Marcoses alone but the home of brave and hard working Ilocanos
