Museum Park St, Doha, Qatar, Doha
Architecturally unique musuem with historical & natural history exhibits, including many artifacts.
Desert rose - Its beautiful building with very unique architecture showcases several galleries with themes known history, culture, development and leadership of Qatar. The ticket price in August was 50QR, although out of 11 galeries, active were only 6. And its not possible to come back later with same ticket to see the remaining galeries once they are ready for visit. Recommended to visit!
An extraordinary museum with a focus on using media to visualize the exhibited collection. The museum contains many halls telling the story of Qatar beginning with the Big Bang and formation of Earth until the rise of the Qatari Peninsula. It is, also, a good place to discover the traditions of Qatar and how life looked like before the discovery of oil. Another interesting point is that you can see Dohas Corniche from the museums yard.
An architecturally beautiful building filled with interesting exhibits from Qatars history from pre-historic to present day. Many interactive displays and light shows along with many displays devoted to children. The building appears like the Sidney Opera House exploded into a new form. It is a large building set back from the harbor front on the Al Corniche. A must see in Doha!
The museum describes everything from the evolution of mankind to Qatars present condition with photos writings and videos.Neatly arranged easy to understand.Must visit.Free shuttle service is available transportation from Metro.Light exhibition is fantastic.😍
This beautifully build is designed in the likeness of a rock formation that can be found in Qatar. The rosette shaped crystals of these formations are found in arid sandy conditions and result from evaporation of shallow salt basins. The crystals form a series circular flat plates that resemble a rose blossom. This shape is what gives the building its unique architecture. In side you will find a well laid out building that tells the story of Qatar from prehistoric times to present. The exhibits are well designed and the use of video and audio further enhances the experience. There are cafés along the way so you can stop for a bite to eat and a coffee. We spent 3 - 4 hours meandering through the exhibits and enjoyed a special art installation at the very end that, I think, will only be there for a short time. If you are visiting Qatar make sure to include this museum in your itinerary. You won’t be dew’s appointed and will understand Qatar’s history much better.
An absolute must see if youre new in Doha or plan on coming to Qatar. Its an amazing place to visit, to experience the Qatar Culture and to learn about their history and the habitat.
Great museum and very useful to find out a lot about Qatar, its culture and history. Worth a visit however long you are in Doha for.
A very beautiful museum that brings the Qatari history/heritage to life. I loved the interactive sections of the galleryGreat sub sections in some of the galleries for kids aswell
Amazing experience. You can get to know the culture and history of Qatar with the help of advanced technology and historical remainings. They have beautifully integrated modern technology with historical remainings to make the historocal tour enjoyable. There is no entry fees for Qatar residents, but for visitors I think its 50 for children and 20 for adults. The timing is from 09 AM to 07 PM. Its a must visit place if you are at Qatar anytime.
Really well laid out history of Qatar and the surrounding regions. We enjoyed the film along with the artifacts telling the story of Pearl fisherman as well as the colonial history and right up till the time of the recent GCC blockade.
Very impressive museum, top notch in every dimension.Do not miss this museum if you have a chance while you stay in Doha. This museum is kid friendly and you will know more about history about qatari tribes and what made qatar till today.Highly recommended!
With QID, Free entry otherwise entrey fee will be 50QR.Closing time will be 7PMSufficient Parking availableFood and ice cream shop also availableAbout the museum, maintained very well.Very systematic, cleaned and guided from staff.Explained Qatar history from the biggining to present.Should have a enough time to spend in this museum (around 3 hours)you can take kids as well.Throughout the museum, the projectors played fentastic role to explain the Qatar historyMuseum architecture is awesome and center of attraction
My friend and I just had a full day to explore Doha and were glad we didnt give the National museum a pass! Its a great way to learn about the rich history of Qatar. The exhibits are great and flowed nicely owing to the great architecture of the building. The building in itself was a work of great architecture. It was even prettier in the evenings when the lights casts these gorgeous shadows on the building. One can spend a few hours here and be thoroughly immersed in learning the culture and the history of the country. The queue to get tickets goes quickly, hardly any wait. The staff are friendly and accommodating. There is even a golf cart to take guests to and from the parking area, not to mention a Metro station is conveniently located near the museum itself. Highly recommend to give this place a visit!
The national museum of Qatar was marvelous! Its unique architecture cannot be missed when you pass by the Corniche Road. It looked like a massive pile of satellite dishes from NASA.The museum is very accessible to public transportation. I just took the metro going to the site.Qatari locals, kids and resident visa holders can explore the Museum for free. While tourists, on the other hand, has to pay 50 riyals for a museum tour. The Exhibition is divided into various sections which showcase the journey of Qatar from the pearl fishing industry to the discovery of petroleum. It also highlights the transition of the ancient Bedouin society to the modern day civilization. Unfortunately, the wildlife division of the north wing was under renovation when I came to the museum. Hopefully, I could experience the other exhibitions on my next visit. You can also explore the small automobile display, Qatar architecture presentation and a light installation as part of the tour. Coffee shops are available around the museum where you can hangout after your excursion.
A wonderful structure inspired by the desert rose. Inside the museum, very technological and useful information is obtained. It can be seen many diadem made with pearls
Starting from thee architecture, how often does one come across a design that was inspired by a desert rose, its magnificent and beautiful. The museum is truly informative, innovative and immersive depicting Qatars culture, heritage and geology. The only reason Im giving 4 stars and not 5 is because I wasnt informed before hand that exhibitions had been closed due to renovations, otherwise 5 out of 5.
Very refreshing and delightful designs of exhibits to tell the story of Qatar nation building. The architectural design of the muesum is inspired by the desert rose, which is not a flower but a unique mineral rock formation. As in July 2022, the newly opened museum still has numerous sections yet to be completed. We thoroughly enjoyed the visit!
Breathtaking experience from the world-class architecture by the renowned Jean Nouvel to the interior walk-through of the audio-visual journey depicting Qatar throughout the years!! A must see place when in Doha, will leave you breathless. Bonus points for the AMAZING gift shop & Desert Rose cafe!✨💜
The National Museum of Qatar is a magnificent architecture building, resembling a desert rose, designed by the famous architect Jean Nouvel. We recommend you to visit the museum to enjoy the different antiques and antiquities as well as the architecture of the museum.
Qatar National Museum is a state of art structure and a must visit place in Qatar. It guides you through the history and culture of Qatar through many videos documentaries. It has an ample parking.
An absolut must in Qatar. A very impressive presentation of this still young nation‘s history. Lots to see and learn. Bring approximately two hours time and descent clothing with you. The restaurant Jiwan which is part of the museum is worth a visit also.
Amazing place where you can understand better this country and people living here... A lot of history, video and animation, national costumes, jewelry and so on... If you are in Qatar you surly need to visit..
Mind that half of the museum is under renovation. I suppose related to natural history. It is still interesting and a good place to spend heat time in summer but I have expected more interactivity as in similar European museums. It is ok but to dry. Interactivity is rather creating ambience as trying to submerge visitor to certain topic which I think Qatar could have enough. Part with palace nice but empty so again no interactive or life in there. I would give it 3 starts if the building itself won’t be so unorthodox.
Architecture of the museum is interesting. Basic exhibition use many new technologies to tell the story. Another exhibition was closed due to renovation. It was worth of visiting during my stopover. EU citizens can get transit visa from the airport. Do not take bus but find new metro station in the parking garage area of the Doha airport. Young lady, working at the station, helped me to get Covid app installed. Metro is brand new, Japanese one and not crowded at all.
Its one of the worlds most recognizable structures, with a design inspired by flower petals. Its a Desert Rose, National Museum of Qatar. Its the best place to learn about Qatars rich heritage and culture, and its a must-see.
The architectural landscape of the museum is very visually appealing. Just the imgaination of the design and the execution of all elements is worth noting. The gift shop is filled with unique items exclusive only to the museum. Even the interiors of the shop is mesmerizing especially the unique ceiling which to me is an art itself. Look up when youre inside the shop.
The National Museum of Qatar is a great place to hang out and learn about Qatari history and culture. It offers a great escape from the weather and its FREE!!!Your visit can take 2-3 hours depending on how much you stop and read. Great English translations help foreigners enjoy the experience.Things to know: Dress modestly. The architecture: A Beautiful, Magnificent, Gorgeous Building.Gift shops and Small cafe with drinks and snacks are available.Wear good shoes.
As an architect and a museum lover I loved everything about this museum. The architecture was mind blowing. They way they were able to achieve the structure of a desert rose is so inspiring. Also they were able to tell the story of Qatar through out history very well. Definitely should visit if youre a tourist or a resident.
A must visit place in Qatar. We will get full history of the Qatar since 1800 centuries. Also it full of digital visuals and good experience for the students and historical enthusiastic peoples. The entry fee is Free for the QID holders and 50 QAR for the tourists. And it full of worth too.
Beautiful and historic, tells a great story of Qatar. But the only thing wrong is theres SO much unused space... Massive rooms that are used jus as a canvas for a projector. But its beautiful and well worth a visit. Especially for the artists that show their work there.
Well demonstrated the history and current Qatar through videos, old photographs and antique and unique objects. Only cons was it was not fully operational and they charge for visitors who don’t have qatar residence permit.(Students entry was free). An exhibition is organized permanently in the museum for the artist work “Your Brain to Me, My Brain to you which is a new large-scale, site-specific installation by internationally renowned Swiss artist Pipilotti Rist.
I was impressed by the architecture of the museum. The exposition inside tells the history of the country and its interactions with the neighbor courtries in illustrative way. Very nice experience. I recommend
A visit that worth it, even though the museum is partially closed as they are working on it to be ready for the World Cup. The architecture and open spaces are really amazing. The exposition is well presented and it takes you through the different episodes of Qatari history. Also worth it the gift shop (not expensive).
❗❗❗Schedule during Ramadan its different than what google maps says. Please check the website for the correct schedule.Now.. about the museum: Congratulations! 🎊 Its been a long time since I havent go to a museum with a such well organized timeline and collection. If you want to know the history of Qatar until nowadays you must visit the National Museum. My wife and me visited the museum to explore the culture of the state of Qatar, the museum has a fantastic design and interesting items, they also play a historical videos of the past life in Qatar, interesting tour to take even though it doesn’t take more than 30 minutes to finsih.
It was amazing visiting the national museum of Qatar, I enjoyed so much the high quality collection and the wonderful atmosphere in every corner of the museum. I have attached some photos of my latest visit this month. Dont forget to book your tickets online before you go ♥️
Great museum and a must visit in Doha! Right now only about half the galleries were open, but still worth visiting. Learned so much history! The architecture is also stunning and worth getting a closer look at
This place is something completely different....the layout and design is lovely. All though we missed out on a large part as a result of renovations, we at least experienced a good part. We had something to eat at the restaurant...that was also nice. It was all round an informative and pleasent experience.
Must visit place in Doha.History of Qatar from more than 200 years.I love the films, featuring the old times era, showing the culture. You can see a lot of things from old ages to the new.The presentation is awesome, digitalised and beautifully placed.Half of the place at my time of visit was closed, but I enjoyed the half part
Very well managed, from ancient time to modern era. The Audio Visual is awesome. Easy to get there, and museum provide golf car from the metro Station
A good place to visit to see the evolution of Qatar and some very nice use of lots of projectors. The remains of the old palace are particularly interesting to see.
A must visit place in qatar, to know the history and the future of qatar. The architecture of the museum is based on desert rose and every single wall or floor are based on that theme that is it has an inclination or declination. It has modern show of history by projectors and also the presentation is really good. It also has an ancient house of the king al thani. Also it is very near to metro and also free for qatar id holders. Place is very well maintained and also it has wheelchair access for handicapped. Parking is huge also reservation are their in it. We could see the 974 stadium from the museum. Absolutely loved it.
Am highly impressed with National Museum of Qatar. The staff are very receptive and helpful. The Museum itself is breathtaking with excellent awe-inspiring art, relics, presentations and visuals of Qatari history. What strikes me is the resilience of the Qatari nation, with a rich culture spanning the most beautiful fashion, and art. I highly recommend a visit here together with the family. Theres also the Desert Rose restaurant where you can relax after giving your feet a good work out.
It was a wonderful experience. It feels like you travel back in time when you get inside the museum. Plus its free. I hope a lot of people would visit one of Qatars finest places.
One of the best tourism attractions in Doha so far. I visited recently and it’s full of wonders and rich of culture.Historical, cultural & traditional information about Qatar can be understand and seen here. Well managed and beautiful structure and worth visit with family and friends. The security staff is so nice and cooperative and guiding the tourists with a nice and great attitude.
Only 3 stars as half of the museum was closed on our visit. We also went as I saw social media posts about visiting the museum if you like vintage cars. It said there was an exhibition which consisted of 3 cars, so Im not sure what the hype was for.Well worth a visit just to even walk around the outside as it is an amazing building, love the shape of it. The gift shop is also a must see when there as the ceiling is amazing. Also, it is free to residents 😁
Great display of Qatar culture and their evolution... There are about 12 galleries showing various things which includes the Marine animals, tool they used and are using... Way of living in the olden days... Some of the fossils of animals and insects found in and around Qatar... The development of Qatar infrastructure... The best part is the way hey are projecting on walls of giant shales using no.of projectors... The sound quality is excellent... One can find a lot of information here... The ticket cost for visitors is QR50 if you are Non-resident and free for Kids under 16 years both Residents and Non-residents...
An excellent museum. Very well curated, full of meaningful exhibits, plus extraordinary fiddles and architecture. It will walk your through millenia of fascinating Qatari history.
Awesome architecture and once in a lifetime place to visit in Doha for the heritage and history behind the upcoming country, a must watch place for school going children, tourist, family, friends and everyone. Will recommend all to visit. Note: If youre planning to visit, it is better to do booking one day prior online
This city and its buildings are so awe inspiring. The National Museum appears out of the desert as its architectural inspiration, the desert rose, does. Its meant to look like the rose coloured crystal that gives it its name. While the exhibits inside are very impressive, its the structure and size of this building that I keep going back to.
