National Museum of Natural History in Houilles

Stunning... must visit if you ask me.

Came 3 times. Every time the ticket was sold out. But in online reservation it does not have the half-price option!!! I mean the policy that, if you bought any other ticket in their circle (evolution gallery, anthropology museum, etc.they claim that you can get half-price for any other ticket you purchase within 3 months.

Beautiful gardens and park. Unfortunately, each section of the museum costs money, except the Wallabies... Most natural history museums have all of the same exhibits, some are arguably better, and they are usually free.

Super fascinated by the collection of bones here. The museum is informative, beautiful and interesting.

We went to the museum and the zoo. Quite inspiring and interesting. Learned a lot many things about fossils.

Its just bones that arent even displayed well. Just way to many skeletons in way to less space. Also the descriptions are only in French so as a foreigner you cant learn anything

A very nice collection of bones and other stuff. But it was bloody hot inside. And too bad almost everything was discribed in France. It would have been more educational if there was more in English.

The museum is so packed that you cant look at anything. Its not displayed well so we couldnt even look at some parts of the museum. Everything is explained in french not a single thing in englisch. Also airconditioning would be nice it was a sauna in there.

Beautiful place, which certainly deserves a visit… BUT typical French administration: Knowing the place, I called before as recommended: you just hear the click of person who hangs up after a few rings. Going there you are told the following: « We are full this morning (kids), I understand that you were travelling 6000 km to study the evolution of the vertebrae, but hey sorry! No, this afternoon we will close because of the hot weather (those are fossiles no?). » You think that this was just a bad day. No, my last attempt was about three years ago, arriving 1hour 30 mins before official closure (!): «  No too late, we are closing soon…yes we are closing 1 hour earlier today!! » If you are looking for a cushy job, apply there! Good luck if you want to visit.

Very interesting collection, both for adults and young adults. Only needs English translation and ventilation!

What an incredibly interesting museum! It holds fossilised plants, creatures, and critters from over 200 million years ago to the organs of more recent mammals and reptiles across its three floors. The sheer amount of specimens that can be observed here is remarkable and fascinating, a good few hours would need to be set aside to look at all of these in great detail which is perfect for return trips to the French capital.Moreover, the museum is free to anyone under 25 and fairly cheap prices for anyone else. It’s simply a great visit to experience if in the area.

A little small, but overall a fun, interesting and educational museum. Beware, during hot weather the museum might shutdown in part of in full as the place is an oven.

Some of its departments (Botanic garden, glass housesare very poorly maintained. Exhibitions hardly follow any clear concept (exc. the crystal museum)And, if you are not French speaking: no information in other languages.Even there are discounts, you have to pay additionally for every department.Would not recommend.

It is a very large collections of bones and some replicas.Each floor is dedicated to specific periods of time.This building is my classic image of a museum but I felt overwelmed by the amount of pieces, also the place it is clean but I felt like maintenance is missing.As foreing it’s sad don’t have text in other languages than french.

Amazing place to visit for toddlers and kids. For kids, there are many educational sessions. It’s better to go there early morning.

It would be a crime to give anything less than 5 stars. Firstly, I entered the museum for free with a Student card. The museum and exhibits were excellent- well maintained, very wide scope of specimens and very well displayed. Compared to some of the other museums with fossils on display, this one is undoubtedly one of the best Ive had the privilege of visiting. The dinosaur fossil specimens are EXCELLENT. Very fine specimens, and the aide of natural sunlight really helps to display them brilliantly. Very impressed.

Excellent place for all ages! The garden is beautiful and there are many attractions for the kids. Recommend for families, friends and couples.

Espectacular!! IT was very Nice to walk And see around. The exhibition was very cool a lot of bones of everything. Specimens of even 2 head animals and the best part was the dinosaurs. Great for kids.

Free entry for persons under the age of 26! Interesting but near to zero English translations.

I am so glad I went and was able to experience first hand history. Wow. Move aside Jurassic Park, this place is the real deal. I loved it here. It felt like a secret gem that no one else knew about. You could easily spend the day here and around the grounds.

The museum has a good collection of skeletons and fossils. No English translation anywhere in this museum. The presentation of skeletons is pretty straight forward. Nothing creative. No sketch of how the extinct animals may have looked in the past except few. No interactive videos.

Its a very interesting and big Collection of animals sceletons. Also the bota ic garden is very nice.Unfortunately it already closes at 18:30 h.

A large museum combining 3 different buildings. Cheap entrance, kind staff, but not something extremely exciting. My highlight is the room with all the skeletons, animal and human, it was pretty interesting.

Its better place to educate ourselves about Fossils, Creatures who rulled Mother Earth before Humans. Good Choice for kids Educational purpose aswell.

Great museum and fun even as an adult! The line to get in was long and the ticket counter was very slow so be prepared to wait (possibly). This museum is not included in the Paris Pass just a heads up!

Came an hour before closing on a rainy winter night and had the place to ourselves. A dream come true. If you love dinosaurs, this is your heaven. One of my most favorite places, but definitely the best museum in the world!!!

Not worth the visit. Was a disappointment. Expected much more. Nothing to compare with Museum of Natural History of NYC. Not well kept. No help or guidance whatsoever offered to visitors. Part of it was closed but not announced online. About 1 hour of queue to get in.

My husband and myself absolutely loved it here, kudos to the staff for the upkeep. The overall appearance inside of the museum was also very realistic inside of the displays. We can’t wait to come back again someday and enjoy it all over again. Plan to spend at least 3 hours, but ideally more.

Amazing balcony view of each floor. Nice various expositions which cover pretty much the gist of natural history.

We visited the place. It was quite interesting und looks like in an old movie. But the entrance price is a no go, considering that the building is leaking and not renovated. The money from the entrance must be put into the building. It is so sad, that such a historical building is slowly dying.-- Dear visitors, please also consider, that you need to buy a ticket for all the buildings separately. In the end it sums up to quite a high amount. Especially for families!--

Be prepared to wait a good hour, however fascinating place when you enter nonetheless. Good selection of megafaunas, mammals, reptiles, dinosaurs and bones.

One of the best museums of Natural Science I visited. The Gallery of Evolution is amazing, with well-written and simply explained panels. It is worth the reasonable price.

One of my favourite places in Paris, the main floor big hall is impressive, always filled with fascinated kids and joy. The personnel is friendly and the atmosphere great. Highly recommend it.

I went there with my 5 yo kid. He was excited about all the animals and sceletons for sure but floors 2-4 have less to offer kids as the building overall is very dark and one can barely see insects and smaller animals. Some screens offered interactive games which were fun but not many. No lines. Cheap. Tickets were 10Eur total for both of us. We spent 2 hours there.

One of the highlights of Paris would definitely be this museum. Great collection of bones and educative signs, this is definitely something that should not be missed whenever in the city!!! It might not be that big, but visiting it is definitely worth it.

Excellent collection of all kinds of animals. Interesting for children and adult. You can see real canguros in the garden outside. Very beautiful also the tropical glasshouse

The geology museum is simply stunning - my 7 year old nature lover was in awe. We could have spent the day touring the grounds and buildings. It is a must see for all ages!

Beautiful museum. You will think you have stepped into Jules Vernes secret Laboratory as soon as you enter the grand hall.The exhibits arranged nicely with ocean life in the basement going up to land mammals on the ground floor then birds and monkeys on the upper levels.the museum is also surrounded by a gorgeous Park that you should take some time and explore.I highly recommend this for something off the beaten path for when youre in Paris.

Brilliant, I cant recommend this enough. The display of animals in the Gallery of Evolution is breathtaking. Our kids took a hundred photos and were happy exploring for hours. The surrounding gardens are really nice and feature one of the few public park areas where you can actually sit on the grass!

It was great, its free for people younger that 26 and the museum is majestic !But for the "serre" where there are all the different plants its 5€ for people under 26, and 8€ otherwise.

Wonderful museum overall. A lineup outside the kids area is truly not necessary though and the ticket sales lineups can be a TON better organized. Kept us in the freezing snow outside and only let a few people in to buy tickets at a time. Brrrrr

Amazing place, definitely take the time to come and discover all this place has to offer.The entrance prices are very cheap, considering all this place has to offer theyre a steal. If you only opt for a ticket to a single exhibition then youll get a discount code for other exhibitions should you change your mind and decide to spend more time here, which we did.The collections are quite remarkable and well presented. Laid out well and great to walk around and explore. From a selfish stand point, itd have improved the experience had more of the exhibits had English translations, were in Paris though and it should be expected that the majority of the exhibits are in French.

For 9 euros (adult price), I think it is pretty worth it. Housed in a rustic 3 storey building with nice glass ceiling, the collection is not the largest I had seen but still pretty impressive. Ground level - current animals. 1st level - prehistoric. 2nd level - shells, insects & bacteria.If you like animals (nat geo shows), its rather interesting to see this. There was whales skeleton as Long as 3 London buses, wooly mammoth skeletons and stuff like this.Buying the ticket to this museum will give you 2 euros discount when you visit the other national history museum ( with meteorite galleryjust around the corner. Vice versa.

Great museum with a very large collection of stuffed animals. The modern interior of the building is also interesting. However, it is very unfortunate that most exhibits are poorly lit, and some rooms are practically completely in the dark, making it impossible to see the animals. The sound effects are sometimes too loud and annoying.

This museum is located in one of the most beautiful parks of Paris. Id recommend to bring your kids and spend a whole day. They will love the huge dinosaur skeletons.
