National Museum of Death - Museum in Aguascalientes, Mexico
Closed for renovation but google says open. Disappointing.
Closed until August due to Covid 19 😔 thanks CCP
Closed, not sure why but probably covid
So much to see!!! 6 rooms full of paintings and sculptures
This place was not interesting at all. It’s not what I expected. Everything is too spread out. No toilet toilet paper in the restrooms either.
Just brilliant. Old etchings, woodcuts, modern art.
A place to know more about the importance of death among people. Great exposition, well organized and very cheap.
It is okay. Its an hour experience that is fine but is not imprescindible for an excellent tour at Aguascalientes Center. Very near to the cathedral and Juarez Walking Street. Displays death vission from different Mexican aspects, has two or three rare pieces. The prehispanic room is impressive but too small. Expect nothing more than 5 rooms in an ex-convent.
Or has good old pictures of famous dead like Pancho Villa, Frida Kahlo, a great variety of skulls and figurines, the second floor is very religious, they only have one Katrina
Incredible, the building itself is wonderful. The art is breathtaking.
Interesting. A different perspective. The art is amazing.
Good place to visit.
Grate place to visit.
Very interesting museum. Nothing is in English, so dont expect to read any information. Also, I hit my head on the second ledge going downstairs. Its hard to see it because your eyes cant adjust quickly enough. So if you tall(maybe 6 ft and up), be careful going down.
A beautiful place. If you want to visit something traditional from Mexic this is the rigth place.
It was a good experience
I was unexpected. It was way more interesting than I thought.
Good but only information in Spanish
When I vacationed in Mexico, and we saw this museum my family was ecstatic. The entire thing was incredibly interesting. Definitely something you would never see in the U.S. Nice little gift shop as well for a small souvenir.
As Mexicans we are pretty aware of death, we embrace it, we celebrate not death perse, but life to live and death as a final stage of our existence on this world.Athos museum is certainly a collection of feelings, life stories and people portayed through history, definitely a place to visit and envision the art and work from Aguascalientes and Mexico.Im putting 4 stars as there is no English translations on the articles.
Representing a the culture on death from differing perspectives throughout history, several rooms displaying artifacts, and a separate installation featuring the inspiring and moving art of Eduardo de Luna
Way too much information, and no one to ask for help to understand it. and not enough time to see all the exposure.
A nice museum in Aguascalientes city.
An interesting museum, where you can learn about how death is perceived
Take your time lots to see. The Katrina is waiting for you.
This was an awesome experience. It actually builds up pretty nicely. From drawings and paintings, to a small look at death from around the world. Finally to some great art and sculptures. The layout of the location left something to be desired as we had to be escorted from display to display. Even still I highly recommend a visit.
A decidedly dark museum dedicated to celebrating death. Im not sure this would work in the U.S. But set within the context of Mexicos culture, its transformed from macrabe to fascinating. With an entrance fee of $20mxp, its to good a vaule to pass up. Also, be sure to look out for the rotating exhibits. Some are less death-centic than others.
Beutiful Museum in Aguascalientes, Mx
Very interesting vision of how Mexico views and understands dead! Atrip to the past
I really enjoyed my visit to this museum. So many representations of death. Some rooms can be a bit macabre especially the first room with live photos and images of notable deaths of Mexican people e.g. Frida Kahlo on her death bed is shown here but others really allow you to learn a lot about the Mexican cultures relationship to death and death rituals. The museum even features some exhibits of death rituals from other places in the world (this part was a very small exhibit). The biggest caveat is that everything is in Spanish so you can go through it really quickly and miss the significance of what youre seeing. I used Google Translate to learn about the death God exhibit but its not the most convenient. Still, I think this is worth a visit if you enjoy museums and cultural experiences.
Interesting, a must visit for locals or tourists.
It is a unique and interesting Muslim to visit . I wish there is some explanation in English but I did manage to read some interesting articles about death and culture
A necessary visit to understand the relationship of Mexicans with Death. Numerous objects collected from different time. Some panels explaining what were/are the beliefs about Death. Some analysis of the treatment of Deaths in newspapers. You will see many skulls and many representations of the Death. It did relax my view on the matter.
Poor organisation, no English descriptions
We thought it was interesting that there was a grandma taking her elementary aged granddaughters through the museum. Theres a fascinating relationship between Mexicans and death. Definitely worth a visit for the architecture of the building also.
This is a small museum, beautiful building and very interesting! a must see when you visit Aguas Calientes, Mexico.
its a nice place to go to see the fascination with death. Loads of good little exhibits that make it worth the visit.
Unfortunately, part of the second floor its not open to the public
Love It Here. All The Art Was Absolutely Breathtaking.
Visit this place near November 2nd. Its a very interesting place!
Loved it but couldnt read it as only in spanish
Great museum at 20 pesitos !
Excellent exihibits, well worth the visit.Helos understand the culture.
Very nice and informative.
Its a really interesting place where you can spend time and learn about the dead in through Mexican history.
We had a blast visiting this museum in the heart of Aguascalientes. Very informative and well presented. Admission is inexpensive. We were there around 3 hours or so. Highly recommended
Great walk through Mexico death relationships through the ages!
Really excellent, both in the information presented and in the display. Far superior to what I expected. Five stars.
It is a strange mixture of beautiful and irrelevant things, but worth a visit.
Amazed with fun facts. Loved it
