A good place to visit to kill time while in Phnom Penh, there are lots of statues gathered from all over Cambodia to exhibit there. And the entrance fee is 10$ per person.

There are amazing pieces but definitely it needs curation ($10 ticket you would expect some work instead of a museum-storage)

The entrance fee is in my opinion too much for "just" the statues rescued from the heritages in Cambodia. If you have been to Angkor Wat Heritage before this museum barely gives you more insights, as there are only written down the centuries and empires of construction.

Beautiful museum filled with interesting artefacts! They have very old statues, paintings, jewelry, traditional tools and a lot of information about the ancient Khmer empire.

The museum itself has many things to see and a lovely courtyard. Though, the two stars are because the museum is dated and needs tlc. There is an audio tour you can pay for (or join, not too sure), but we didn’t realise. Without the tour, it was difficult to learn much. If you don’t know much about Hindu/Buddhist traditions, you may find yourself just looking at statutes rather than taking understanding what it all means. More information is needed/background information on the artefacts or the religion to get an appreciation of what is there.

Pretty lousy actually.40% of the display is missing or simply not there. No audio tour or any guide.$20 for a very basic collection of statues and carvings from ‘unknown origin’.I guess it’s free for Cambodians because they would never pay to visit. There is a nice garden in the courtyard, and that’s the highlight.

I was absolutely mesmerized by the sculptures in the museum. There are enormous sculptures and different rooms filled with arts which reflect the different centuries. Visitors can put on headphones and listen about this distant time.Another reason why I recommend going to the museum is because they have very beautiful garden with fish ponds where you an actually feed the fishes. There also have big parking lots and a cafe for refreshments. To sum up, I would highly recommend visiting this gorgeous museum in the heart of Phnom Penh. The sculptures and the amazing architecture of the buildings are definitely a must-see.

This should be called Cambodia statue museum. As we have visited Ankor Wat we have been to 6 temples in Siem Reap so could relate to the museum, but you need to understand the whole museum is full of statues only, nothing else on the history of the country, the rise and fall of different governments, there is no story taking you through the history of the country. I love my history and I was all statued out after 4 of the 8 rooms. That is all is in the museum so wouldnt waste the $10 charged.

Entrance fee was kinda pricey at $10. I wasnt told that there was an audio tour available, but thatll cost you more dollaroos. There were tons of ancient sculptures on exhibit which were fascinating, but I feel the overall experience could be further improved. Perhaps they could add more stuff to paint a more complete picture of Khmer civilization in chronological order.

I love visiting museums but this one missed the mark. It wasnt bad but it wasnt good. It was just ok. Im giving it a 3 star instead of 2 because the staff is friendly. With that said the reason for the low rating is based on the condition of the museum. There is ongoing construction in some parts of the building and some of the artifacts havent been put in place. In fact they are stored in plain site of the facilty. For this to be a National museum the handlers need to do a better job handling the artifacts and keeping the facility in better condition because it can be a beautiful place if care was put into it.The admission for tourist is $10 and in the current condition it is a high. Please note the collection consisted mostly of artifacts and sculptures.

Beautiful architecture, also a nice break from the city noise. But a bit small for the price. It was 10$ entry, no student discount and we only spent about 30 min there. We hoped to see some new modern art, maybe from recent years, but there was only one show room with this (a collevtion of french and Khmer vases mainly). I would recommend if you care mostly about cool architecture and ancient history. All in all, a nice visit but would choose another one personally.

Contains a lot of different historical objects from around Cambodia. There are only a couple plaques to help contextualize the significance of certain pieces, but for the most part its a self guided experience without the audio guide.I wish the attendant had mentioned the availability of a guide beforehand, as I found myself breezing through the museum in a little under an hour without the historical background.May be a good rainy day activity to burn an hour or two, but there werent too many standout exhibits in my opinion. This is a pass if you are stretched for time, especially given the cost.

Nice building, but collection of Angkor and pre angkor statue isn’t so big. Way too expensive for foreigners (10$), I’d spend maximum 5. There is almost no plate explaining what are you looking at. They were cleaning statues during opening time, which is quite short.

A must visit place for all visitors to Phnom Penh. There is a large collection of artefacts from the 6th to 15th century spanning across the Funan, Chenla and Angkor eras of the ancient Khmer civilisation and empire. The place is not air conditioned, hence can be a little warm during summer days. Entrance fee is at USD10 per person. Photo and video taking are not allowed inside the museum unless authorised.

I wanted to love this museum, because Im a huge history buff. It has some amazing works of Khmer art, and a random piece of moon rock displayed in a tiny room by itself. The museum lacked a lot of context for much of the art, though, and I didnt walk away feeling any more knowledgeable about Cambodia than when I started. The lack of audio guides was very disappointing, and the experience didnt feel remotely worth the high price charged to foreigners. I look forward to visiting again in a few years when they have improved the exhibit explanations.

First of all, the rating is based on the current condition and it could be much better in the future. The building and garden are the reason i give it 2 and not 1 star. Other than that I felt a bit sad to pay 10usd for a construction site. Some cabins are empty, half of the statues were just put out of the way. Also one should know that this is old building without any A/C. I hope they get all done and people can enjoy it more than me. :)

Very disappointing given the huge amount of history Cambodia has. $10USD to see only statues of mostly the same thing; of which a lot are damaged. Also currently under quite a bit of structural renovations…Nothing about the Khmer revolution, nothing about Indochine, hard/ rude to call this a National Museum

Good museum in Phnom Penh with quite a body of artifacts. The museum is spacious though open air, making it sweltering in the summer months. The museum collects similar items together, such as statues of Ganesh, Buddha, Shiva and others into their own categories, rather than arranging them according to archeological era. As such, the narrative of the history is missing, though it is still a fascinating visit. There is also a nice cafe attached.

It’s not bad, if you have time to spend. But the quality of the museum is disproportionately low as compared to the ticket price they are charging foreigners. No audio guide. To be honest, I expected more.

Despite being still under renovation, the beauty of the art and artifacts was absolutely breathtaking. Khmer culture is a beautiful amalgamation of Hinduism and Buddhism and I felt like I walked away with a better understanding of it. Unfortunately due to Covid the ear pieces to help explain the art and sculptures werent available but definitely worth the visit!

With an unforgettable graceful traditional structure, the museum had important Khmer sculpture, ceramics, bronzes, and more dating back to 4th century. I found it peaceful inside as well as outside the museum premises. With an entrance fee you will be able to explore a bit of Cambodia’s rich history and the culture.

A very beautiful and peaceful places. With exhibits and artist shows. Im used to museums and exhibits in buildings that look like safes, so its so refreshing wandering around here, with its open windows and the odd sighting of birds and pets moving around. The grounds and building were beautiful, and from across the road I couldnt wait to check it out. I also watched a traditional dance show here, which was also very pleasant.

Certainly a very beautiful and setting, and a lot of interesting artefacts. I am a great fan of museums, so I normally try to visit local ones when I travel anywhere. I would recommend reading some history books to gain a rough idea of Cambodias history before visiting. Ancient history can be tricky to understand as myth and reality has become mixed, and a lot of the Anglicizations of Khmer names are not easy to read, and there are a lot of Sanskrit / Pali words added in to make sure youre paying attention. In summary, if you have the time, you should go.

The rich mix of Hinduism and Buddhism is seen here. The idols and statues here are quite old dating all the way back to the 9th century. I quite liked the paintings of the stories. Some artifacts have a detailed history written which help but most dont. The audio guide would be helpful here. Its just $1.There is a beautiful garden in the middle of the place inside, but its another $1 to take a picture of it.Btw, incase you wonder why there is just a head of an elephant near the entrance, it is because the whole thing was too big to fit in. And also, it you wonder why the place is so high (steps to get inside), its because apparently Cambodia used to get flooded a lot submerging everything. To keep the buildings from being filled with the flood water, they were made high.

Small museum and expensive ticket. Audio guide is better for easier understanding and if you want to avoid reading. Mainly statues are displayed here with some other items. Felt like visit a museum of statues rather than a national museum. It is situated closer to the Royal Palace.

Interesting Museum work lots of artifacts during the pre-Angkor and Angkor period. This includes statues, bronze and copper artifacts and ceramics . You will need to spend no less than have a day to slowly enjoy the Cambodian culture and history.Theres no air conditioning and can get pretty warm during a hot day. There are also audio devices which can be a very useful aid if you want to understand the culture better

The best experience I had till date. I couldnt believe myself that I spent nearly 5 hours in such a place. The presentation was brilliant but the highlight is the audio tour, it captured me with its narration of stories, summaries on works of art their styles, their inspirations their cultural significance. The rish history of both Buddhism and Hinduism is represented here and the thread which ties them together

Honestly, the price ($10is a bit steep for this museum. There are plenty of artifacts, but not much as compared with Angkor. There are few labels, so that if you intend to go, I would recommend a guide. The gardens (inside and outsideare the most enjoyable thing. If you are on a tight budget, I would recommend the Palace instead.

Great museum with lots of status. The museum is designed by French architect, so the garden is also nice to chill, but the sun is too hot. The voice navigation is very nice, they nearly explain every single objects and that takes more than an hour to visit, or you could just go around and take pictures.

Nice place to visit if your interested in the religious, political and architectural history of the country. The grounds and outside of the building are very nice, but the inside is a bit old and dated compared to western standards (artifacts are open to the elements, no protective cases or air conditioning ). There are a wide variety of items on display here which the audio guide gives you lots of information about. Entrance fee is $10 with the audio guide an extra $5.
