Permanent & rotating exhibits on physics, chemistry, biology & technology in a large space.
I found the museum very interesting with a big bird collection. You can easilly stay a couple of hours
Very well organized and really interesting! The shop doesn’t offer many interesting souvenirs, so that could definitely improve, otherwise is a nice experience.
Museum lacks interactivity in most of its expositions as well as translation to english. Most of the visitors are children with parent and museum is not done for them. Descriptions are to long and dry with lack of explanation. I was with english colleagues and unfortunately more than half description is in german.
Excellent collection and impressive display of all things natural-dinosaurs, mammals, reptiles, amphibians, fish and birds 😁
Great museum your kids will get good imagination about the history of the earth and will motivate him to learn more different subjects you should prepare yourself before you visit this museum with your kids to fully utilize your tour
Great museum. Smaller than natur musems in Wien or London, but that is an advantage - you can see everything in 2-3 hours 😉
Spectacular museum with a huge variety of exhibits, plenty of information, you can easily spend half a day. We liked it a lot!
This is a great spot to come to on a rainy day. We did just that on a Saturday and understand the place is a bit more packed during this time, however totally doable. There could be a bit more improvement on making it wheelchair accessible though. The place itself is amazing. Plan to spend at least three hours here. Awesome replicas of dinosaurs, fossils and the famous Edmond dinosaur mummy can be seen here. They opened a new section here that’s great for the kids and allows the kids to be very hands on and an interactive experience. My kids had the opportunity to hold a turtle shell, touch fox fur, replicate with some drawing some insects and looks at morphos and other bugs under a microscope. Theres a section full of gemstones you can view that was very neat to explore. I personally enjoyed seeing the area that had a large heart of a whale and the opportunity to view the inside of a real orca. A must if you’re in Frankfurt!
The exhibitions are really good! They connect the extinct species with the ones living today, in a very informative way. I was however quite dissapointed in the lack of english descriptions on a lot of the exhibition.
Great museum. Kids were existing))We will visit it again for sure.
One or the best museum Ive seen. It is very complete and you have a lot of stuff. I highly recommend it!Not every explanations are in English but you have enough content.
Adventurous place for kids and adults with variety of science facts about geology and living organisms in different eras. My son was 5 at the time, got deeply engaged.
4 stars because I think could have more descriptions in English, not all signs are English
Very interesting museum with a good mixture of subjects - not just dinosaurs (though I appreciate they are a big attraction). The environmental/sustainability exhibits were fascinating and its always good to see cultural venues promoting awareness of social/global issues.A good sized building without being too sprawling or maze-like. We made it round most of the exhibits in a few hours without getting lost. That said, while there is some German and English text, the more in-depth signs seemed to only be in German. So maybe we finished faster for that reason.Very hot and stuffy! We went the day after the heatwave broke and it was so airless we left with headaches.Overall, its worth a look if youre a natural history fan, otherwise it doesnt stand out as much from other natural history museums.
A typical Natural Science museum with a lot of Dinosaurs and animal antiques. I like how they set up the Rock and Dinosaurs section - Some artists can be an inspiration for dinosaurs or vice versa.Really a fun museum. A must when you are visiting Frankfurt, especially for kids.
Its a great place to visit. Especially families with kids would enjoy it alot. And anyone who has a deep interest in the historic era and the flora and fauna, can come here for a visit. It would Atleast take you a whole day to completely check all the floors out. There are 3 huge floors spread across. And the ticket would be around €12 for adults. This can be 1 of your places while searching for tourist attraction. After you get out, theres a huge park Infront where one can chill and relax or play.
Wonderful displays of all that nature has to offer, with many of the exhibit descriptions translated to English. While the museum itself is not that big and can be fully seen in 1.5 hours, it has left a lasting impression on me given the quality of the exhibits.
Very good collection of fossils. If you/your kids love dinosaurs this is the place to visit. The stuffed animal section was amazing. Overall a great museum.
The dinosaurs, scuba diving simulations, birds quizzes and moreWe went here with my 6-year old son and it was really a great experience. On the ground floor you’ve got dinosaurs skeletons including those that lived underwater. The T-Rex, Diplopocus, Triceratops, giant whale. Then you find yourself in the land of mammals, birds and all kinds of animals. Here you can go through the quiz listening to different birds sounds and guessing which one it is. And then you go the underwater world. Here you see all kinds of deep sea apparatuses, can go inside a sphere capsule (if you’re small enoughand even enjoy a simulator with three monitors (like a plane simulatorto dive into the see and look for different species. Super nice and highly recommended.
Fantastic place to spend 2.5 to 3hrs of your time. A lot of informative and interesting displays. Only down side is only a few exhibits have descriptions in English, while everything else is in German. Make sure you have Google translation on hand.
is very nice place and have a lot of interesting stuff my son had a really great time there
Fun for adults and children, just dont wear warm clothes because most of the museum rooms dont have air conditioning. It is probably because of the wide array of fossils and models they have so no complaints there. 😃Dinosaurs, reptiles, apes, whales, deep sea creatures... Theres a lot to see here so prepare yourself for a nature lesson and a lot of fun. Get a Frankfurt card because you get half price off. 😎The staff was nice and friendly and the place was clean. The food and beverage options felt pricey so dont plan on eating here. Are you still reading this? Just go!
If you love dinosaurs you must visit this museum. Very beautiful
Better Dinosaur Museum Ever You Can Visit
Lovely natural history museum, some great exhibits! My 3yr old (and Iloved the dinosaurs.Fantastic collection of semi precious stones on display too.Would definitely go back without a 3yr old in tow - itd allow me to take some better pics without being on toddler time!Look out for Lucy - shes important.
Amazing display of dinosaurs from tiny tributes to T-Rex. In addition of the main attraction, there is also a floor dedicated to stuffed animals. Visitors of all ages would enjoy this museum. You can lavishly spend around 2-3 hours here. A good expo of ice age fossils, gemstones and other exhibits.Opens daily from 9am to 5pm. Ticket prices are around 12€ for adults and children under 17 can visit for 6€ with valid ID.
If you like dinosaurs it’s the best place for you :D Great even if you are not a kid.
Wonderful wonderful place. Went at noon on a weekday and it wasn’t too crowded. Lockers are available for a small deposits. Hundreds of exhibits like fossils, taxidermy, insects, birds, mammals, ocean life and geology. 3 levels in total and spent slightly more than 3 hrs there. There’s also a cafe and a souvenir shop.
The tickets have to be booked online and they sell out very fast, especially during the weekends. I thoroughly enjoyed my visit to the Museum. The variety of exhibits are endless, dinosaurs, extinct animals and birds and so much more.
Senckenberg Museum is one of the museums that should be on your list of places to see in the city. They have many exhibits that change fairly frequently and is a great place for all ages.Youll see everything from dinosaurs, animals, fish, etc. Guided tours are also available if you have a large group. They also offer tours at night, inspired by the Ben Stiller movie, Night at the Museum. I found my guide to be quite knowledgeable, during our one-hour tour we visited 3 exhibits. But wished we had more time to see the entire museum. On the main floors where the dinos can be found, you can grab free posters to take home as a neat souvenir.
The Senckenberg Museum is particularly popular with children, who enjoy the extensive collection of dinosaur fossils: Senckenberg boasts the largest exhibition of large dinosaurs in Europe. My kids love dinosaurs so it was a fun day staff was super friendly, if your kids like to enjoy the extensive collection of dinosaur fossils this place is for you 😊
A great place to go to view the dinosaurs and a large collection of preserved animals. It can get busy, especially during school holidays, so best to book in advance to ensure tickets because during these Covid times the number are limited.
Amazing array of animals on display must be one of the largest in the world - so interesting to see
Great place. I was impressed. Better to book tickets online upfront as it gets sold out quickly and you may not be able to buy them on-site
Do not miss if you are in and around Frankfurt with kids (and even without them😆)Great, great museum, interesting, explorative, scientific... but above all fun!! Ver ver fun for kids, also for their parents. Plan for at least 3 hours, there are benches and a bistro to take a break, drink and eat something. Very family friendly, even for very small kids and families with strollers.Parking is easy to find on the surrounding streets (on weekends at least). Also on weekends can be a little too crowded, in a working day its much better. The only minus is that a lot of the descriptions are only in German, but I see they have been replacing them with English ones as well.Highly recommended!
We had a wonderful experience at the museum today. There were very few people inside so we took our time through the rooms. The exhibits were exceptional, definitely worth the trip!
Just visited the museum for the summer night tour and it was amazing. We will recommend it to everyone. Our guide peter was charming and knowledgeable and entertaining and we had a great time asking him questions and exploring the museum at night. It was a private session for the two of us and we agree that this must be the only way to visit a museum. We have visited the museum in normal hours with our kids before but it was quite stressful (busy and also young kids). The night tour was quieter and the private tour of course made it much more informative. You could tell that our guide is in love with the museum and the fact we got the whole tour on English without having organized that in advance was especially kind of him. We would definitely do this again. We had a lovely evening.
Amazing museum that suit for every age, workers are absolutely kind. If you have luggage that you want to store you can just ask to the front desk. The price is 5€ but worth it for the enormous quantity of things to see. Not everything is translated in english but you don’t get lost.
Great museum with lots of pre-historic artefacts: from dinosaur egg nests to early human skeletons, from mammoth carcasses to modern birds models. There are quite interesting exhibition with cool-looking minerals, especially those shining brightly in ultraviolet luminescence. Also, there are some temporary exhibitions, e.g. to raise awareness on climate changes caused by human race. The place is kid-friendly but note that there are not too many information available in English. They have a cafe but the menu is only suitable for a quick bite, alas.
Well this is one of the best museums I have ever been to! Dinosaurs are the main attraction I would say!
Just wow!To be frank I am not a museum fan. I was bit sceptical about going here, however I wanted to learn about Dinosaurs 🦖 (And a T-Rex fan 😬so I went in for a visit and got awestruck. This museum is more than just Dinosaurs. You can see many things about fossils and world evolutions!!!Just fantastic!I was able to be there for only 3 hours, but wasn’t sufficient.I will definitely visit there one more time and spend more time.☕️: There is a small coffee vending machines and a small break area. (But OK kind)Must go place to visit with kids!!!
Really cool natural history museum but there are definitely better ones. If you go on their website, you can see how to get free admission, for example being a resident of one of their many sister cities, which is what I did. It’s a pretty big museum with some really cool dinosaur bones and stuffed birds, mammals, etc. Great for kids and school groups or just anyone interested in animals and nature. My big issue with it was that for non German readers, there was very little in the way of English signs and information. If you don’t care for explanations and just want to look, then it’s ideal
Great place to introduce children to the wonders of nature. Personally, being from South Africa and being exposed to the biodiversity in nature that exists, I feel it more compelling to have people experience all the beauty of diversity in the real world. It is not always possible but hopefully this creates a catalyst in that regard. Would have liked to have seen the displays re sustainability for the future being more prominent and interactive.
The staff here is so nice and friendly. We arrived there 40 minutes in advance before it closed. The ordinary ticket is ten euro. The staff told us we can enter for free in last 30 minutes. We had a quick review. It deserves more time to visit. If I have chance I would go there again.
Amazing experience!!! If you visit Frankfurt, this museum is a must!I think the only problem about this museum is that all the explanations are in German :( We would appreciate more English explanations to understand the exhibitions better. Also, we planned to spend 1 hour here, so arrived around 16.00. This was a big mistake! If youre a science enthusiast, you should leave at least 2,5 hours for this place.
The museum building is astonishing (1st picture). The musem is big and full. It is a museum of natural history so you know what kind of things you can find inside, if you are interested just watch the pictures below and decide.
Great exhibits. Covered many areas and times of natural history. Worth spending an afternoon. Some descriptions could be improved to provide more background to the Times and environment for the exhibits.
Very few displays have English description. And so I couldnt learn a whole lot. The fossils are interesting, but I would much prefer live animals to taxidermy. I know its supposed to be educational, still, I dont read German.
A very comprehensive and exquisitely tailored museum with highly detailed and informative exhibits on the history of man and nature. The various categories include paleontology, taxidermy, anatomy, astronomy, geology, botany, and diverse dioramas among others. The largest draws however are the dinosaur exhibits. There is also a petite movie theater showing short informative videos at regular intervals. For the weary there is a rest stop with refreshments available at surprisingly cheap prices. For those willing to loosen the purse strings, there is a slightly more premium restaurant available as well. All in all this is a good destination for a whole day family outing, with a thorough tour of the entire premises lasting around six hours, and with something available for everyone.
Nice spacious museum. Lots of dinosaurs, fish, big animals but also some rocks, insects and info on trees. There are a couple objects you can touch, but not a highly interactive museum. I did see something about VR so maybe thats fun for kids. Some small rooms were pretty warm. Overall a cool museum with lots of animals.
