To be honest nothing special. If you know who Skanderbeg was, you know all that this museum will tell you. If you want to learn about him stick to books or internet. Its more about how proud Albania is of him then telling any history about him or his fight with Ottomans. Could be way more interesting. Its ok to see it but not worth going specifically for it

A must see for anyone visiting Albania. About a half hour drive from the outskirts of the capital. A pleasant drive into the mountains. Great artifacts dating back to the 1400’s. €5 cover charge for adults and children are free. Close by are the souvenir shops in the cobblestone bazaar.

I have been here a lot of times and always was a pleasure. The national museum is one of the MUST-s when yoi visit Albania. The ticket price is 400 L if you are a group and 500 ALL if you are solo. Totally worth it. The anciet history of Albania is explained in an organized way. The museum has 3 floors. Of course the most items are related to oir national hero Gjergj Kastrioti Skenderbeu. The maps and the artifacts has all english explanations. If you have a gudie is better, because he can explain to you some of the details, but even if you are without you can get the most part of the history. At thr top there is the balcony with a fantastic view. The museum can be seen in 30 minutes (max 40 min). I strongly recommend to go and see. It is just 30 km from the capital.

500 leks per person as of 2022 June. It may not be the biggest museum, nor be as bang for your buck as Bunkarts, however, if you are into history, there is no chance to skip this one. It was exceptionally interesting to learn quite a lot about Skanderbeg (Iskender Beywho is often only mentioned briefly as a rebellious general in Ottoman history as is thought in Turkey. It was magnificent to see the other side of the story, and what a story it was! I wish the real helmet and sword of Skanderbeg was here too but apparently one needs to go to Vienna to see it.

Well kept museum with history on the Albanian hero Skanderbeu. But it would be better if you have a guide with you to explain the battles and the history in detail. There are a couple of small shops in the bazaar below where you can get artifacts and even grab a bite at the restaurant around.

Interesting place to develop an understanding of a typical 19th century nation building narrative, not so much of the real life and considerations of an (otherwise inspiringmedieval warlord. It says more about itself than about the very topic it pretends to cover.Go to the excellent Ethnographic museum next door!

I loved visiting this museum! Its situated in the main Citadel and its main focus is the national hero of Albania, Skanderbeg. There are also artifacts from ancient Illyrians, as well as many historical writings, drawings, maps, icons... The exposition is very well structured and everything is translated to English. The entry fee is 500 lek for tourists, which I find very reasonable, especially considering what youll get to see.

Skanderbegs onlyfans. Except for the ancient part of exhibition this museum is really focused on skanderbegs cult rather than history. Books about Skanderbeg on different languages. Paintings created on 500th anniversary of Skanderbegs death in 1968. Sculptures from 20th century. Irrelevant gifts to the museum from Albanian expats from around the world. Everything is about Skanderbeg, but very few exhibits explain history to foreigners.Three room featuring his hat/crown/helmet with horned goat and ancient room were the only ones i found interesting, 500 leke admittance is just a waste of money.

The national museum Gjergj Kastrioti has a lot of history and facts to offer to the tourists, but not only tourists, national citizens as well. There are a lot of documented historical facts beside the exposed objects and artifacts from Skanderbegs time. The entrance fee is 500 leke and photographs are allowed even though inside the museum walls theyve placed the prohibited 🚫 signs. At the entrance gate a leaflet is given with basic information offered in Albanian and US English. Totally worth visiting.

Whitewashed history of Skanderbeg but still very interesting and relatively complete. The 1953 Soviet film of his life is a major production and has been colourised and had English subtitles added for maximum impact and entertainment value. Most items in the museum also now have descriptions in English.

The Kruja Citadel is a beautiful place up on a hill, preserving the grassroot ruins of old fortress walls. Together with the Kastriotti museum built here, it is a must-see in Albania. Gjergj Kastrioti Skënderbeu was Albanias greatest hero, who succeeded to unite locals from many provinces for the first time in the 15th century. The museum shows the thrilling phases of his life and military achievements in a cozy, homely manner. The museum director took great care of us, a discreet presence, kind, well-trained. After 20 years in the Ottoman service, Kastrioti (aka Skënderbeg as the Ottomans named him, that is- Lord Alexander, he rebelled against them, then he fought them for decades in tens of twists of battles and alliances, succeeding to protect the Orthodox and Catholic world, he rejected 3 Ottoman sieges over the Kruja Citadel...And he somehow managed not to die in any battle, but from malaria at the age of 62.... I encourage you to read about this guy and go see the museum and citadel! Good and cheap food across the street and many traditional objects to buy near the citadel.

In this museum, you really get to know albanian history in detail. Every room, statue and object has its own special characteristic. It was interesting even for an albanian visitor, like me. The price was 200 lek( I cant tell if its the same for tourists). And the view from the top of the museum was breathtaking. Its always packed with visitors, but if you enjoy your own peace its great. Photos are allowed but you should not use flashlight. Was worth spending 2h wandering around this great museum. :)
