Banjul, Gambia, Banjul
This 3-story museum houses exhibits & artifacts related to the history & culture of Gambia.
If you want to know more about The Gambia and her people, a trip to the museum is great.
SOLO CON VERLO ,VERAN A DIOS!!!
Quite possibly the most ridiculous Museum I have ever been to. They try to charge 200 GMD to enter and then another 200 GMD to take photos. Dont waste your time going to this poorly run scam of a museum.
Nice place to visit. Lot of information about Gambian history.
Right in the mouth of the capital, Banjul the place is easy to access and lovely.
Without a doubt one of the best museums Ive seen on the African continent. Incredible amount of objects and artifacts, all labelled and well displayed, dating from the stone age up until today. Absolutely worth visiting if you are in Banjul.
Not too spectacular
A nice learning experience about the history of The Gambia. Not laid out in the best and most cohesive way but nice to read and walk around all the same. If youre in banjul its worth a visit
Interesting but sweltering heat in and outside.
Very informative, very interesting! Well presented. You can purchase the museum publications. A must visit, if you want to know about the country.
J’adore mon pays Gambie
Nothing much
Museum 🙄, ist mehr eine Heimatstube🙈
Actually an interesting museum
One of the few attractions for tourists in Banjul. Entry is 100GMD for non residents. Interesting but small and in need of updated information.
It is a sanctuary of history of the Gambia
Zeer interessant.
The Main historical Centre of the country. The place is simple but informative. An important quick stop for tourist. Entry charge only 2 $ for tourist.
Klein aber viel Info über Gambia.
It looks small from the outside but holds a lot of information and artifacts.
interesting
The National Museum of the Gambia. Located at the Capital City, Banjul Island. One of the best places to know the history of the Smiling Coast of Africa. A must visit place.
Visit there to know about Gambia
Det var litet men bra
Quite interesting
Good guide
the museum is small but nice; opened from 8am to 4pm, they offer also few books about Gambian culture and history, maps and postage stamps
Amazing place with lots of surprising facts
Intymnej części ciała nie urywa.
Great place to learn the history of The Gambia.
Beautiful
The National Museum of the Gambia. Located at the Capital City, Banjul Island. One of the best places to know the history of the Smiling Coast of Africa. A must visit place.
Very sad for me.
Mysigt litet museum.
In interesting museum of a museum. Most of the exhibits seem to be dug out of closets, glued to the wall in the 1970s and barely dusted since then.It is amazing in all the interesting little details. The text is incisive with snippets like "Senegambians consider the Fulbe women to be some of the most beautiful women in West Africa"It covers a lot of subjects and eras from prehistoric to post-colonial. With a room devoted to musical instruments, enviroment, and a few other random subjects.
Very cozy museum. Not big one, but interesting.
Ignore banjul itself but this museum is very good. Small but gives a good insight into the peoples and cultures of gambia. Would def recommend
The national museum in Banjul displays different historic artifacts in The Gambia. Mostly visited by tourist.
Gambia
A really nice place to go on for a school field trip! I just went and it was amazing! Lots of history! The building was a little bit run down though.
gStar, but the most important things. The only way I could do
The National Museum of The Gambia in the capital of Banjul is a reliquary of national identity. The building offers three floors of exhibits ranging from costumes, tools, musical instruments, photos and paintings, replicas and dioramas. They depict the complex history of the Gambian people. The slave trade that served the European colonial rule is represented through artifacts and representations of slavery. The trade routes taken across the Sahara, along the the Gambia River and the West coast of Africa infused the region with a rich tradition of diversity. This includes the practice of local rule in villages through Chieftancy governance, ceremonies, colorful fabrics and fashions, arts and crafts, music, song and dance, architecture, religion and medicine. Many of these influences can still be seen today in the manner of dress, contemporary arts, and multi-cultural events. The museum is home to a vast selection of recorded oral histories of the tribes who settled and traded in the region. These tell of origins of tribes and their heritage of music, dance and story telling. Efforts to transcribe these recordings are an ongoing process, in order to establish a database for research.
A very intressting, small Museum
