National Motor Museum in Mount Barker
Description
Great friendly service, so many cars, motorbikes to see. Great place to visit. Well worth a visit.
MoreLoved it. what an amazing collection and the holden display was excellent. A few cars I never thought I would see in real life. although a bit sad seeing an end of an era.
MoreThis is a great collection of cars & motorbikes...the only thing we thought could improve things would be to have all the Holdens together, in date order, just to show the development. Possibly the same could apply to the other cars. We did appreciate the information given for all vehicles, and the consistency of style of info
MoreWhat an amazing experience to wrap up the weekend. A thorough enjoyment for entire family. If youre a vintage/classic car admirer, you should definitely add this place in your bucket list. Cost free video games/Atari/pinballs has added extra charm to attract visitors. Staff was extremely helpful. Do not forget to buy souvenirs for lifetime memories. A must visit place👍
MoreI visited the National Motor Museum in Birdwood with a friend on Labour Day Holiday. Ample parking spaces on offer close to the entry. Once entry was paid( Now CashlessI was transformed back to yesteryear with a vast array of Vintage, Veteran, Classic Vehicles, Motorcycles and Modern Supercars on display. Also worth looking at is the Merchandise Area near the Entrance of the Museum. Highly Recommending a Visit to Educate yourself about Yesteryear Motoring.
MoreBetter than I was expecting. I hadnt been here in 30+ years and its improved a lot. I am not a car person but it was interesting for a 90min stroll down memory lane. Lots of car with a leaning towards Holden and Australian vehicles. Excellent bakery across the road too.
MoreIf you love cars you have to put this on your bucket list. Amazing walk through history, major Holden display currently on, must see for any car lover / bogan. Easy parking, cheap entry, Highly recommend.
MoreAwesome, loved this Rolls Royce. The Holden display was amazing
Fantastic day out, something for everyone. Great Holden Hero’s exhibition on at the moment which was the highlight of this visit. All the Holden concept cars on display. Video games to play for the kids. Great range of cars, trucks and motorcycles on display. Plenty of rich history to explore and a large collection of diverse automotive memorabilia. Definitely worth the the visit, great value for a family day out. Would highly recommend 👍
MoreAn amazing places to tick off my bucket list, priceless amount of cars and motorcycles plus history to go with the different cars and bikes, super friendly staff, very family friendly
MoreFinally ticked it off my bucket list amazing staff and the history of cars motorcycles and other information was priceless
MoreSuch an amazing experience! First time to see so many vantage cars and the history of OZ cars especially those Holdens. Thanks to all donors and the management of the museum. Will come back next time.
MoreGreat place to visitA lot of cars and motorcyclesExcellent. Loved the visit
Probably the best tourist destination in South Australia. With a huge array of vehicles in good to excellent condition with clean toilets and BBQ area. This isnt a shed full of old cars this is a professional business that does a great job. Souvenirs are good quality products that you will want to keep. I love it.
MoreGreat place. Amazing how they have collected so many cars and in a small town too. Loved it and Im not really into cars etc.
MoreVery well curated and professionally presented museum, but I question the "National" bit. Scope largely limited to SA (understandably, maybeand very focused on Holden and early 19th century cars/bikes. Heaps of 1920s/30s stuff. Lots of significant and concept Holdens. Great if youre into that. Very few European cars or post-60s bikes. Wouldnt go again.
MoreGreat day out, the staff were lovely, our kids (4 & 9absolutely loved it :)
What a fantastic place. If you are a car nut and have an interest in modern, clasic, and vintage vehicles this place is a must see!!!
MoreThis museum is great, my partner,my 2 year old son and me try get here every 6 months or so.i feel lucky to have a place like this in Adelaide .If you have any interest in cars ,motorcycles and the history of em in Australia youll love it aswell. Also the people working here are always friendly.
MoreLovely super friendly staff, spotless premises with an awesome lawned area for warmer days. Public toilets and plenty of parking. New displays regularly. Great day out. Walk down memory lane!
MoreA surprisingly large collection of vehicles from many years generally in very good condition. Well worth a visit.
MoreThis is an excellent place to spend a couple of hours looking at the exhibition. There is a massive amount to look at here and its always changing. The collection is rotated regularly as the exhibition is massive and not everything can be on show at once. This is the second time Ive visited and once again was very impressed with the exhibits. They also have a seperate exhibit with details on the old mill and buildings that the collections are housed in. The admission price is very reasonable considering the size of the collection. A must for any motoring enthusiast, Highly recommend.
MoreWonderful exhibition of Australian (and worldmotoring history, and you dont have to be a petrol head to appreciate it. Modern cars and motorbikes, plus vintage transport - its all beautifully presented here, with plenty of notations for for reference.Well worth the visit.
MoreDecided to check this place out for the Holden Heroes display.Such incredibly beautiful cars, well worth the stop over on our road trip fromVic to SA.Staff is exceptionally friendly too :)
MoreSo worth a look for anyone, even if your not a car person. So much to see and history to read. We were there for a few hours. Just Amazing...well done to the staff.
MoreFantastic, great for all ages and gender. Great history, take the time to visit when in the Adelaide hills.
Moredidn’t know what to expect was was amazed and the number of cars and bikes. Awesome.
MoreCame here for the first time today and it was such an amazing experience. Ive never seen so many vehicles in one area from different periods and it was fascinating to see how much theyve changed over time. The museum has various sections and even has fun stuff for the kids to do too, such as the mini arcade section.Entry fee for adults without concession was $17.50 which is honestly not that bad as there was plenty to view. The toilets were clean and the gift shop had alot of interesting stuff to see too.I definitely recommend coming here with the whole family. 👌
MoreGreat place to visit located 50 mins drive from Adelaide CBD. Nice collection of cars and displays of Australian road transport history. Majority of people spend 3-4 hrs in visit. Display gaming facilities available inside museum.
MoreA great place to whittle away a few hours. From kids activities, to video games and presentations, over-head displays, and rows of cars and bikes from over a century ago all the way to recent local production cars, this place has a lot to keep you entertained for hours on a self guided tour of the place.
MoreGreat great place to visit a must see, highly recommend 👍😉👍
Fantastic collection of historic and collectible vehicles. 4 wheels, 2 wheels and some with three. Second visit in 35 years for me. Good to see how much it has grown. Some special stories inside about some incredible people who created a piece of Australian history vented around motor vehicles. Really well done. Brockys old Repco Commodore isnt there any more, unfortunately. So here is a picture of a picture from back then.
MoreNice place for car lovers...Holdens den...concept cars tht never can into existence were awesome...
MoreWhat an experience. The staff were fantastic and the amount of Motor memorabilia was outstanding. Rows and rows of cars trucks and motorcycles, if your in Adelaide it is well worth the small price to enter. Two thumbs up.
MoreFantastic! Huge range of cars & motorcycles, very interesting. Great customer service. Worth a visit or two!
MoreExcellent and extensive display of Australian Motor History, grown beyond original into a new building and very well curated. Holden Heroes tops off a marvelous display of Holden on Oz, even with a production line of VF Commodores from a time gone by. Holden and Me display gave an interesting insight into some of the people and roles in Holden. Also excellent displays of Ford and Chrysler and hand built racing cars of old as well as a 1000HP Bugatti Veyron and a Lambo.
MoreWhat a great place to visit my partner didnt want to go but I convinced her to she loved it also you need to go
MoreOk so you really need a whole day to see this place fully. I spent about four hours there and wasnt able to do it justice. There is a huge variety of great cars motorcycles and trucks on display. Allow a lot of time to check out the bikes and replica garagein the back half of the museum. The mill museum at the tail end is interesting as a little surprise. When I went, the special exhibit was the Holden concept cars including the stunning Efigy and Coupe 60. There also was some interesting exhibits such as the first attempt to cross Australia South to North and an early outback supply truck plus a nod to political correctness with the all-female garage from the 1920s. There is a detailed section about Australian car manufacturing with a lot of detail about Holden, Mitsubishi, Leyland and the Lightburn Zeta.Theres the unique: the mobile phone car built by Telecom in advance of the 1992 Barcelona Olympics is amusing.Theres the ubiquitous: honestly, the yellow Mitsubishi Express van I didnt even bother to photograph was scraping the bottom of the barrel in historical significance. Must have been a freebie to avoid paying someone to collect it. There also was a lot of English compact cars as well such as Austins and Rovers etc which have their place in history for a lot of people, but some of the ones on display arent really significant, in my opinion. Then theres the obscure: the first wholly Australian made car, branded "Lincoln" and no, not THAT Lincoln, was fascinating. Then theres the Hyundai Getz electric conversion package that was ahead of its time and the owner complained about being persecuted was allegedly not allowed to exhibit at car shows(!).Overall, its a great museum and the entry price is more than reasonable.
MoreA great museum with fantastic range of vehicles. Plenty of history, amazing displays friendly helpful staff
MoreA place for wheel lovers and antique cars and bikes. Lot of history and visuals with videos.Nice place to try out PS4 And car behinds the wheels :perfect day out for kids and adults both
MoreI never realised how incredible the motor museum was! I visited for the first time while a car show was happening on the lawn. We went inside after checking the outside cars out and I was totally immersed in the history on display. I loved reading my way through the museum, and I appreciated the little tidbits such as what they wore in the past, the first RAA member, the letters, a garage setup, and of course, the history of Holden (including the workers, too). Well worth a visit! Can’t believe the Torana as well like lol
MoreLots to look at. Great collection of car, trucks buses and bikes with some special one off vehicles that all helped make Australia the great place it is.Well worth visiting in my opinion.
MoreI was absolutely amazed by the amount of cars and bikes inside. Loved seeing all the Holden special vehicles.
MoreThis place is amazing. Will be loved by all, young and old. It is nicely set up and has a great display of so many well known and loved cars. It has a small gaming area in the middle where you can play car racing games. Alot of history and many facts that you would never have known about which is great. Would highly recommend.
MoreReally amazing so many of the rare and concept cars and nostalgic vehicles. The place is inspiring, a great place for kids and a lovely grassed internal courtyard with shaded seating and lots of gifts in the shop. Beautiful gardens too.
MoreA great place to explore - a lot of nostalgia of days gone by. The facility is well laid out and accessible to all. Prices are affordable and you can come and go during the day if you want to. On a nice day there is plenty of room to have a picnic. There are a couple of bakeries nearby and a nice coffee shop across the road. All staff were very friendly and approachable.
Moreabsolutely awesome place, its huge! massive selection of cars. The Holden exhibition was a highlight, staff are very friendly and the town itself is just a lovely place to stop. could easy spend a whole day here!
MoreA very well looked after and clean museum! They had the Holden exhibition while we were there and it was fantastic, both classic, muscle and new age cars on display.Great history lesson for the young ones on Holden and plenty for the 2 wheel fans like my self!!Great day out with the family, would highly recommend!
MoreGot to finally see the mighty veyron. If you get a chance to head down to the national motor museum it is well worth the trip and there are cars trucks and bikes there that your whole family will enjoy looking at.Had a absolute blast.
