Very unique experience. Masks are from years ago , for dances that sometimes are not longer seen or some very clasic like the Venado dance. They have also a small collection of all over the world. Its a must!

If you want to learn about authentic Mexican culture, this is the place to visit. From pre-Colombian through colonial times to present day folk culture, masks and the dances they are used in show truly what Mexico is about. Not modern day muralists define the true beauty of Mexican art, but the elaborate and glorious Mexican masks.

Super museo!!! Nos encanto. Solo que deberian de hacer un libro explicando todas las diferentes tipos de mascaras y las diferentes danzas por cual se usaban. Así uno que visita podrá comprar el libro. Incluso deberían hacer un video professional de las diferentes danzas con las diferentes mascaras explicando todo. Tambien se vendera como algo educativo para los turistas que visitan San Luis Potosí. Otra idea es vender mascaras de version pequeñas como recordatorio del famoso museo.

Gran museo para apreciar una parte importante de la cultura nacional principalmente en donde se exhiben máscaras utilizadas en las danzas tradicionales de México además de mostrar explicaciones ilustrativas de esas vivencias que perduran en varias de las zonas nacionales.

Precioso recinto, para empezar, incluso se pueden efectuar sesiones fotográficas en un salón. Se exhiben máscaras usadas en civilizaciones antiguas, en comunidades, en danzas, y hasta de luchadores. Entrada general $20, estudiantes, maestros, inapam $10. Si vas a tomar fotos $10 pesitos extra.

Algo absurdo que cobren una tarifa extra para poder tomar fotos al interior del museo cuando también estás pagando el costo del acceso. La exhibición de las máscaras muy interesante e ilustrativa, gran muestra de la cultura.

La exposición es muy buena, tiene bastante material para ver, sin embargo creo que sería mucho mejor que hubiera guías que te fueran explicando un poco más pues no es lo mismo a sólo leer las fichas descriptivas, aún así es maravilloso que haya tanta variedad de máscaras

La colección de máscaras que tiene es increíble. Hay desde luchadores a máscaras tradicionales. La entrada cuesta 20 pesos mas 10 si quieres tomar fotos. Sin duda un excelente lugar.

Beautiful building. The masks could be displayed better. The downstairs rooms are dark and that makes it difficult to appreciate them.

A very original and interesting museum, but unfortunately has not been well preserved. The descriptions to many of the items are outdated or simply missing.

This museum has a bunch of interesting masks on display. Most are from various Mexican States but there are also some of other origins. The people who work there are very friendly and helpful.The only real downside is that a lot of the masks are very similar so a bit more variation would be nice. Also some more descriptions and visuals of how the masks were/are actually used would be great. Only some of the signs are in English as the rest are all Spanish.

Really worth a visit. The museum is situated in a gorgeous building in Plaza del Carmen opposite the Theatre and the collection is very interesting. Many impressive Mexican masks from various states, as well as a smaller collection of international masks from Asia, Europe and South America - is well worth an hour or so to visit!

Beautiful mask collection. Very affordable fee (20pesos eaShort tour, beautiful building overlooking Teatro de la paz. Would definitely recommend seeing it.

This is one of the best museums in town, its a must, this place architecture is simply beautiful, there are around 1000 masks from different regions and ages in Mexico

Good museum, I would say its different because there are masks to see, which is a little odd.

Wonderful collection

An absolutely amazing place. Please stop by and spend an hour here. I promise it will be worth it.They have a very large collection of beautiful masks and rotate other exhibitions. When I was there they had a painting expo of José de Jesús Hernández Martínez called "Recuerdos de un sueño inquietante". Beautiful. Also, it is super cheap (just $20 Mexicanand they also sell masks for just about 600 Mexican pesos.
