National marine park protecting beaches & coastal wildlife, including endangered giant turtles.
Beautiful, long beach. The turtle nests are protected with wooden cages and a fence. I recommend walking to the end of the beach. But people, please collect your garbage! If you need to smoke on such a wonderful place, bring a small trash for the cigarettes.
Beautiful !!
One of my favourite beaches in zakinthos. Just a heads up tho, lots of naked bodies sunbathing.
Very cozy place. Not too much people. Sand everywhere. Bonus : naked beach part.
Beautiful beach, shallow sea with sand.Turtle nest area. Only spoiled by the sheer amount of litter along the beach and if you look behind the rocky cliff you could easily fill a couple of wheelie bins.Shame some tourists don’t give a toss.Good view of airplanes coming in to land over the beach at low height.
Beautiful!
What a wonderful idea to protect the nests of the caretta caretta turtles.
Ive took a hike from Argassi through the mountains and came down on this path. The view is spectacular and almost made the head-stroke and the walking through sand worth it.At the end of this path is an wild beach, almost empty but you need to be prepared with water and some food if you want to enjoy it after the walking through the forest.I couldnt find some shaddy place to rest so I go to the populated beaches to rent some sunbeds and buy some cold water and of course...beers!
good Jobs
Miles of sand beautiful scenery
Turtles Comeback online at night time to the beach.
Water was so clear and warm. I had my shorty wet suit, but in the end it was more use as a floatation aid and sun-blocker......No 🐢🐢 turtles on my visit, but some interesting fish and small shoals of whutebait type fish... But obvs I would not eat them!!Saw a fish emerge out of hiding from the sand and a lone sea bass sized fish with black leading edges on bothe tail fins.... Not sure what it was.Its a long time since I dived (my mask and snorkel are at least 30 years old, but it made me want to get back to qualified level.....ready for retirement!Visited again Wednesday (8th Juneand the wind direction has changed so the visibility was poor. I will try the north of the island tomorrow whilst out and about in the car.Zante is a beautiful island with great people, weather and reasonably priced food and drink. The beaches are relatively clean, but I would comment that they need to contain bins and recycling as many bottles and boxes get strewn around......we need to make sure the beaches and the turtle 🐢🐢🐢🐢🐢 breeding grounds stay free of our human debris!!!!
We visited the place in April when it was really quiet so we could enjoy nature at its best. The name crystal beach also became clear. The rocks reflected the sunlight thanks to the quartz inside.
Interesting to see Careta Careta turtles.
Excellent views Nd water.
Its just a beach I believe, but I may be wrong.
Such a relaxing beach. Hired sunbeds and parasol for €8 and relaxed listening to waves lapping in! Water was so warm and very safe as able to walk quite far out.
Amazing beach and park, which I would definitely recommend visiting!
Beautiful! Excellent beach, clear waters, can get pretty busy at the peak of the summer.
National park only by the title. It does nothing to prevent wildlife and security of careta careta turtles. Many boats with glass bottom aggressively approach one turtle and oppose them to deathly danger. Do animals favour and dont contribute to their suffering.
I give a one star rating because the sanctuary was "empty" and not at all open. We made the long journey there in the boiling heat just to find that out. This kind of information should be displayed on the website, it wouldnt be hard to do....btw my time of the visit was the end of july. Please update your website to write whether it is open or not. Also it is difficult to find, as the entire island itself has very little, or badly damaged and old location signs.
It’s wonderful that volunteers and local authorities are taking care of turtles! But for tourists I wouldn’t recommend this place. The beach is ok but not the best on the Island, you have to be lucky to meet a turtle. Plus there is a lot of garbage by the tourists and that disappoints.
Picturesque beaches with clean clear water and sea turtles swimming arround
The area is naturally beautiful and you can see every day the volunteers from the National Marine Park taking measurements and informing the tourists about the turtles. I would appreciate more and diverse signs (with infoon the beach and in other relevant places.
Such a fantastic beach with super clean sand and crystal clear water.
OK, not much to see or do if you are not lucky enough to see any turtles hatch.
Peaceful place and fine sand. The only place where shells can be found
Far too many sunbeds everywhere on the beaches, the sea is very clean
Amazingly warm sea but didnt see any turtles this day. Beach very clean and nit too many people as yet. Very pleasant late morning and afternoon spent sunbathing and swimming
Lovely place . Nice clean beach with nice little bars nearby. Lovely warm sea. Wish I was there now.
Interesting area. Love the way in which the turtles are cared for so that they breed naturally.
Love this island. Great place to retreat too. The planes going overhead are amazing,Stop you falling asleep on the beach. 🤣😅
Great for a day-out with a store nearby where you can get food, drinks, souvenirs, floats etc, however this is about the beach. The beach has a great view and there are plenty of sunbeds, which I think are fairly cheap at €6 a sunbed. There are boats nearby also, which you can rent for €10 an hour!!! Overall, its great and well-worth a visit if youre in the area.
Never very crowded , looked after as breeding ground for the turtles. Sea shallow and sandy, warm in August, normally go to Stanis for lunch.
The national marine park of zakynthos is a disgrace. Hundreds of turtle spotting tours daily, revving and harassing poor turtles, cutting them off from going peacefully about their business. Many of the boats are old and smokey and cast fumes all over the place. Boats then deliberately take tourists to the turtle island and strand them for an hour to swim, right on the same beach where turtles have nested. Tourists leave their litter, bottles, nox cylinders, wet wipes and plastic packaging. A real shame. Not evident that profits from the very many tour operators ever find the way back to anything related to the conservation of the area or this vulnerable species of loggerhead turtle.
A place you can get away from the crowds.
Beautiful long beach, protected because of turtles so no motor water sports. Great place for swimming and relaxing. Two sunbeds and umbrella were €7-9 (2019). Cafe and shops dotted along, with more at Laganas end. Stayed at Kalamaki area of beach. Fa .
Very nice place with clean, warm and shallow sea. Ideal for families with small kids. The park has many beaches that you can visit such as kalamaki, dafni, gerakas, etc
Beautiful. Not crowded. Took a canoe and saw a large sea turtle... Very cool!
Beautiful place. Boat tour to the caves for 8 euros per person. 45 minutes. Its worth the money for the boat and seeing the cliff edge and water from a new perspective but the caves themselves (from the boatare nothing special.
Exiting Place where the turtles lay their eggs
Nice sandy beach. Twice a year, (during May and Sept.Closed at night because of turtles. Go there early in the morning and you may be able to see little trails the newly hatched turles made while crawling to the water. Fairly shallow waters well into the bay. Please respect the marked turtle nests while there. Certainly worth visiting!
Heavenly place sun sea and beautiful beachs a lot to offer everyone young and old you wont be disappointed from relaxing walking driving or dancing the night away. Friendly and welcoming.
Beautiful sandy beach
Beautiful beach nothing more can really be said. Nesting site is nice and there is a little hill you can climb for some amazing views.
Beautiful beach surrounded by stunning rocks with protected Carreta nests. Closed from 7pm but definitely worth the long stroll all the way from Laganas to Keriaki.
Beautiful beach and they really helping a turtles
A beautiful beach 🏖 lovely warm water with lots of turtle 🐢 nests BUT do not touch them! Its a great place for the family. Highly recommended
Please do more to educate tourists about using bins or taking litter home. Rubbish everywhere!! Signs are needed in all languages warning that they could be fined. Ive spent most of my holiday cleaning beaches in Kalamaki, bottles, glass everywhere. Where are the litter pickers? After 25years coming here, sadly this will be my last
Amazing beautiful location and so peaceful. A warm sea and a fantastic beach. A must for anyone visiting zante.
