Mata Nacional do Buçaco, 3050-261 Luso, Portugal, Coimbra
National forest planted in the 17th century by nuns from the Order of the Discalced Carmelites.
This forest and castle are gorgeous. The whole place looks like something out of a movie. Definitely a must see when in Portugal.
Its impossible not to fall in love with these woods. The beauty and stillness are mesmerizing. Highly recommend a visit!
Pleasant place for picnics, or spending time in nature.
Beautiful place to visit!
Highly recommend but if your going to stay there make sure its cool outside
A MUST SEE!! Just go there and enjoy the nature, the incredible view and EVERYTHING 😍
Great place for walks in the forest with waterfalls, streams and lakes
Very beautiful nature. Nice to walk👍❤️
Perfect place walking and relaxingGood for children
Very clean and well maintained.Dont miss
I liked hiking in the big natural park of Luso-Buçaco ( Bussaco)
Very relaxing. Good opportunities for photos.
Beautiful forest, nice to visit on a sunny day.
Beautifull place for a easy walk...if you are going to Coimbra it is nice place to stop
Beautifull place for a walk after visiting Coimbra
Beautiful but beware the mid summer heat as its a long climb
Nice Park, ideal for a walk for all levels of walkers
Beautiful green and lush forest
Fascinating nature and forest. Worth a visit
Beautiful place to be in contact with nature. The surroundings are beautiful, full of old palace-like houses, and the forest itself is amazing, with loads of exotic trees and fountains
It was amazing to visit the place but when you go the last point of the hill its worth it
Breathtaking! Especially when it is rainy and foggy, gives the whole place a magical atmosphere
Magnificent views on the hill but downstairs you will see a strange lake
A place wgere you can stay one hour or the entire day. On top of the hill is a foormer convent transformed into a hotel. The gardens are realy beautiful.
Nice forest/park but the signs and directions sucks. You are guaranteed to get lost! 🙄
Peaceful place, a lot of easy walking trails to explore the forest.
Great place to explore and relax. Its full of beauty but could have more signage.
The forest and walks are great. But I was disappointed that you cant see in the palace unless you are a hotel guest.
Really cool place. Was tight on time and only saw a couple of the things we would have liked to. But even just those two it was worth a 5-star visit.Beautiful forest, and really amazing history and monuments. I hope to return again and spend a day to walk all of the trails.Only criticism would be the map they provide, at least to the fonte fria is just inaccurate at some parts. You might miss a narrow path with no signage and have to backtrack a bit, youll still find your way and will only take a few extra minutes, but mostly it might leave you not 100% sure youre on the right path until you actually get there.
Walks within woodland, some quite steep but the Palace Hotel on the centre is amazingly spectacular.
A-MA-ZING! A must-see while in Portugal!
Beautiful place. Lots of places to hike and things to see in the nature
Very nice paths for a walk, we took our dog there and he really enjoyed his day
Beautiful place, a must visit area if you are near by. The landscape and the surrounding areas are incredible. You can also appreciate some of the style used by the Portuguese artists during the monarchy days. This place is also being proposed to be one of the UNESCO world heritage site, so this also says it all.
Very nice place to take a walk and enjoy Nature. One thing that would improve the experience would be a description of at least some of the species of plants, trees and buildings we are seeing.
wow .it is challenging and u have to takea few hours(at least 2to be there but it is so beautiful , magical&fun!!take a bottle of water with u &some snacks or fruits..
This is beautiful place and definitely worth the visit, watersreams, trees shrubs and bushes.Interesting history and beautiful old palace.
Quiet, beautiful and interesting space. With beautiful views, walking and discovering this forest is an adventure.
We stayed a night in Luso simply for the experience of visiting the forest in the morning. We arrived first thing in the morning and were turned away at the gate. The person in the booth told us the entire park was closed until at least the 1st of the year due to storm damage.
Deserves a visit if you are a natures lover and like to take long walks surrounded by a green landscape. The entrance is free if you plan to walk or ride a bike.I found the park and gardens of Bussaco similar in somehow with some parks in Sintra like Pena and Regaleira. There are some places hidden in the park for true adventurers and the views in Cruz Alta are stupendous.Definitely worths a visit.
It was nice to walk around and explore but not anything truly exceptional. Would be nice to picnic at or spend some hours but I would suggest skipping it if you were traveling and were trying to whittle your list down
The Bussaco Palace is an ornate edifice built in the late 19th and early 20th century in the style of a 16th century palace. The gardens are vast and lovely to stroll in and explore. Several fountains are on the grounds, the most dramatic of which is the Founte Fria.
Nice to walk around and get lost exploring the little hidden artwork in the forest.
Amazing place. Note that theres an entry fee if you drive through the park.
Very good for walkingthe forest is very cool due to the very large trees and has much moisture in the soil. Great for strolling in the summer, along the various paths. Has many species of trees and shrubs, many of which are exotic. The hotel is architecturally very interesting and worth visiting the convent. I advise consulting the site fmb.pt which is very good with lots of historical and practical information.
This parc is as beautiful as the nature in Sintra but less crowded and touristy. It is free if you enter on foot or bike . With a car it is 5 euro per car. We hiked for 4 hours but you can easily hike here all day.
Its okay if youre around and want to spend some hours in the nature.
Impressing palace, misterious enviroment, nice walk throught the forest.
Fantastic park, you feel in a mixture between tropical forest and fairytale castle yard. hard to walk if not fit. Not recommended for buggy, wheelchair or crutches.
Certainly one of the most beautiful forest/garden of the country. The Palace is gorgeous (Manuelino style I thinkbut the walk in the wood is also worth the effort. Dont forget that if you start from the top, all you go down the hill you will have to climb up! There could be better signs to help people find their way easily but looking for your way back is also part of the experience...
