National Childrens Park And Zoo Abuja - Zoo in Abuja, Nigeria
It is in the heart of Asokoro, just close to Also rock. The place nice, and a good place to bring children. It has a zoo. Monkeys, lions, hyenas, buffalos, horses etc. It is wheel chair accessible.
Very limited attractions. The play area is okay. Had a fun experience.
A good way to explore nature, exercise your mental health and of course, have fun
National Park and Zoo is a charming place to go for picnics and just a nice walk. I went over the weekend, and it was really cloudy, so the weather was perfect. There’s a playground there, and I had the best time playing on the swing and the rope thingy. The animals are well taken care of, and you can ask for a tour guide if you dont want to figure out where everything is by yourself.
Wow the place is amazing rock view and forest threes_ i saw lions, snake, monkeys, tortoise, buffalo, parrots, ducks, ostrich. This are the animal that they have and children play grounds, that place is good for picnic also good for taking picture and couples spendtime
The park was breathtaking, I saw some animals like Lion, Monkeys, Python, and tortoises to mention but a few.The Mountain and Sea View is awesome. If shades could be provided for people, in case it rains...it would make the park the best for me.
It is a nice place to bring the kids to though I went with a group of professionals. So I dont know how much for entry. The zoo is very child friendly. There are picnic tables and chair for some cool 😎 hangout.I would appreciate it that the convenience be made more functional. You can get some snacks and drinks at the entrance.
NATIONAL CHILDREN’S PARK & ZOOIs a beautiful and spacious park in Asokoro, Abuja.A relaxing spot to visit for both kids and adults. Be it family outings, hangout with friends or picnics, this is a great spot for such activities. You get to bring your own food and drinks at no extra cost.Located at the foot of Aso Rock, It is wheelchair accessible, has a lovely scenery for pictures and a picturesque view of the Pendam Lake within the Park (which is also a hotspot for photoshoots). You’ll find a playground with activities for both kids and grown ups. Kids particularly love the Jungle Net Climb. The zoo has a good mix of animals which includes; lions, monkeys, crocodiles, horses, snakes, tortoises, etc.Entry fee is N500 for Adult and N300 for kids. There’s a N1,500 charge for photoshoots & a N4,000 charge for event setup of more than 30 people. If you love nature/ outdoor experience, this should be on your list of places to visit. As we are all aware, maintenance is a bit of a problem in government run institutions and this is no different. The toilets aren’t well kept, some of the cages need fixing, some animals need better care, there isn’t a proper food vendor and you should check the weather report before visiting, in case it rains, as there aren’t enough shelter points or waiting areas.Follow @abuja on Instagram for more!
A beautiful place for pictures, picnics with loved ones. I think Id go on a weekday next time, weekdays can be really crowded so if you need some quiet its best not on weekends. There are animals here too for site seeing, horse riding. Be adviced to bring food. Theres not much to buy here. And some covering too from ants. lol. Beautiful place I must say.
Its a very serene place. Perfect for nature lovers. The animals make it even more worth it!
If you need to clear your head while taking a stroll and sightseeing do visit this place. Although, the animals are not much but surprisingly there is a healthy lion family (Lion, Lioness and a cub).I’m giving it a 3 because of the hygiene of the place. If something is not done quickly, the park might deteriorate further. A fumigation exercise will go a loooong way for the picnic areas
It is a very nice picnic spot and it is supposed to be a zoo, but most of the animals that used to be there are no longer there.
Cool location for picnics… But something should be done about the ants 🐜
Its a beautiful place to visit.. There are quite a number of animals caged in the in the zoo section, the relaxation and play areas so attractive.. The gate fee is so affordable.. I visited more than 5times.. Explore!
Its Such a Place to be for Both Children and Adults alike. The Place was Commissioned in September 2001 By Former President Olusegun Obasanjo and has since then being in Use.Very Fun to be for Sight seeing. There are Interesting animals to view like Porcupine, Python, Tortoise, Ostrich, Monkey, Lion, Crocodiles and a lot more but few to Mention. Theres even a Lake there and an Adventure Play Game for kids. The Most interesting part, for anyone who wishes to see The Aso Rock, its right inside the PARK and Zoo Premises. Its indeed a Nice destination For Birthdays, Picnics and Get-together
Its always fun to go there , so many attractions especially with the Lion 🦁
Nice place for nature lovers. Some wild animals like lions and lioness, buffalo, hyenas, phyton, tortoise, monkeys and birds etc. The lake looks man-made but quite scenic with a bush bar. Also the jungle net climb was very good for the kids. Entry fee is #300 for children and #500 for adult as at April 2022. Nice one though I expected to see more anumals
Lots of outdoor games available for kids of all ages.Few animals available.Gate fee was cheap.A good place for taking long walks and family hangout.Needs more funding and attention from government.
A good place for picnics, children parties, sight seeing.
This is so awesome, the views, the animals, lake, the picnic area, the topography at the foot of Aso hills, this is a place I recommend for everybody to visit children, adults😔 i mean Ive literally drew inspirations to photography and videography getting good experience and a friendly feel of the trees and playground, its somewhere you need to visit... Note theres a gate pass fee attached
Leisure park, recreational facilities and animal zoo. Great for children and family gatherings/ picnic, with sporting facilities and a serene green view while facing the Aso Rock.
Serene environment, great for kids to run around and play.. Also has a bit of animals to entertain the kids and the facility is very family friendly.. however a better job can be with cleaning and garbage management..
A nice place for a picnic with family and friends. It has a zoo some fun stuffs for kids.Theres payment before entry and one will find food, Ana ks and drinks.
Fantastic place to have a picnic with your family... The scenery is beautiful. The National park and zoo is located just at the foot of Aso Rock. They have a good mix of Animals. They lions, buffaloes, Ostriches, Turtles, Monkeys, Horses, Pythons, Donkey and many more. They also have a well equipped play ground. This is highly recommended for a family or friends hangout location.
A very lovely place to hangout or go picnicking with friends and family. There’s an entrance fee of 500 for adults and 300 for children. You can also get mats for rent.
This park is an amazing one. National childrens park and zoo Abuja is located opposite Aso rock villa. It is a natural reserve centre, beautiful place housing some animals like Donken, Lions, Ostriches, Monkeys, crocodiles, tortoises, snake, ducks, doves, hyena, parrots, goats, horses and others that I cant remember. There is a lake that is beautifully located with calm vicinity. There wre several spots to buy food ,drinks and snacks withing the park. There are several children play grounds with many amenities to play with. There is a massive rock located just behind the park and it gives the park an amazing natural look. The rock is also symbolic to this park. The green area is massive with several trees and fruits scattered all around the park...This park is well situated because it lies within the military barracks and directly opposite Aso Rock Villa in Abuja. The entrance is guided by army personnel. The car park is well planned and spacious for several cars.
Gate fee is highly affordable. You can have picnic fwith family and friends. The kids had fun seeing the animals in the zoo. However serious overhauling is urgently needed. In the early 2000s when it was launched it was happening place that period. You would see unique animals. But, as of this 2022 its a shadow of itself.
Park and Zoo the National treasure,Gate fee :500 per headWill refresh Memories from childhoodVersatile , zoo , horses , play dateperfect for picnics family and friendsGame day out with friends
Nice view, calm environment.Go with your own food and drinks.Go with your picnic mat, the chairs are dusty💀Entry fee is 500.
Went for a picnic with my friends in Dec 2021… And we had mad fun. Just that the animals there doesn’t really look so well sadly… But we enjoyed our evening there
Good place for a family relaxation, situate in one of the many barracks along asokoro, it houses quite a number of animals.Access into the zoo is #500 for adults and #300 for children. Don’t forget to try climbing the ropes, it’s so much fun…
Entrance Fee: Children, #300 and Adults #500 per head. Cash only...yea no POS services there. Its a huge park with few animals. Good part is, you can bring along your food and drinks at no extra cost and you can have a good time with family and friends.
Beautiful scenery but poorly managed. Most of the animals were not there. They can do better honestly
Lovely scenery, the animals look well fed and healthy, great place for photo-ops, lots of fun activities for kids, lots of attractions including a lake, petting zoo and picnic area. Great for a romantic picnic, friendly get together and personal yoga and meditation.
The National Childrens Park and Zoo is located within a military zone and is home to different animals and activities. I visited here recently for a picnic and had a good time here. The zoo has a gate fee for Adults and we paid 500 naira each. The environment is quite clean with multiple grasslands for picnics. Theres a man-made lake, animals cage displays, an aviary, swings, kid-friendly playground and a rope climb. The zoo is wheelchair accessible and great for the whole family. Some of animals at the zoo include lions, monkeys, alligators, crocodiles, ostriches, rabbits, tortoises, donkeys, horses and different birds.Main issue with park is the maintenance. Some of the animal cages need repairs and the animals need better treatment. Also most activities were not available. For example, we couldnt use the rowing boats. Also there arent any restaurants or food stalls so its best to take your own food when you visit.
Everything depends on the kind of person you are. If you want to enjoy an atmospheric of childish fun, the park is a great place for you. There are swings and merry go rounds, all suitable for kids.As of November 2021, they had lions, crocodiles, hyneas, parrots, horses you can ride on and a python snake which gave me a horrible nightmare that night. Overall, if you want to have a good time and enjoy yourself, you will. But when something is being maintained by Nigeria its not the best. Go there for the fun and make it memorable.
Hidden gem behind a military zone. Beautiful scenery, the lake and mountain make great photos. Lots of area for kids to play and have family picnics.Animals could be better cared for, the horses were emaciated and smelled really bad. Lions looked like they skipped a couple meals. The enclosures weren’t well kept.₦1500 “Camera Charge” by the ticket attendants is ridiculously corrupt though. Why charge me to snap photos of a public park, with my own equipment?
If you’re looking to reconnect with nature then this place is definitely for you!! It’s also a wildlife park, so yes! They have wonderful animals! The lions are simply beautiful and I had a wonderful time getting to know more about the animals! The tour guide was really good at his job! This park is family friendly and if you’re looking to having quality family time, it’s for you! You can come with your food, drinks and whatever edibles you want cause this is an amazing picnic spot! P.s… do go along with your hats and sunshades! Very important guys!
The National Children’s Park and Zoo are located in the Asokoro district of Abuja, behind the Presidential Villa. It is reasonably close to Aso Rock. If you are an animal lover, there are a number of wildlife animals to see here, however the species of animals here are limited and are mostly limited to camels, crocodiles, giraffe, monkeys, lion, hyenas, duck, snake, ostriches, tortoises, wild cats The park also has a large playground for kids, a dedicated lane for kids called “Toddler’s Lane” which has a number of fun activities and a lake.
Very lovely and fun place to be in Abuja with very affordable money to cover your accessibility, you and your children will have fun that will remain an experience of a lifetime. You get to see several animals here too.
A wonderful outdoor experience for kids and adults alike. I like the fact the park is quite spacious and well kept and also shaded with beautiful trees. I particularly enjoyed the sight seeing and the presence of a relaxation spot just at the bank of a lake. The kids enjoyed the view of the exotic animals but more of the obstacle course and game spots where they could blow off some energy. Improvements are always welcomed, may be presence of vendors and ATM spot, waiting areas in cases of rain and so on. In general, it was a good outdoor experience.
Fun place to go with family and friends for picnics, birthdays and of course nature! Some animals are there to behold - buffalo, lions, ponies, crocodiles etc. The scenery is green and beautiful...
Park with Zoo, Zuma Rock View, play ground and a beautiful lake which is an attraction for families and beauty models and tourist. It is a very secure place within the army Protection.
Beautiful place, nice ambience. The kids had fun with the animals. This place has so much more potential and Im looking forward to seeing the place develop more.Overall, its a total recommendation from me
I thoroughly enjoyed my visit here. Watching the lions, hyenas and crocodiles was intriguing. The beautiful landscape with lots of trees and the rock was simply awesome!
Looking for a place to hangout with the family? Especially the kids then the National children’s park and zoo is it.It’s also a perfect spot to host a picnic.Entrance fee for adults is 500 Naira and 300 Naira for kids.Didn’t see so many animals not like I had high expectations.I’d advice you not to visit there hungry except you don’t plan on staying long or better still just go with your food, because I didn’t see any decent food vendor there. You’d definitely have a good walk while appreciating nature. The park had a playground for kids (well not just kids, because I got to play on most of them. You can’t shame the shameless). There’s also a “lake cafe “ where you can sit and admire the lakeside.I visited the park on a Saturday so it was quite busy.As for security, it is very secured as the park seems to be inside a barracks or so.
Located inside a military base in Asokoro. There is a gate fee; N500 (five hundred Nairafor Adults and N300 (three hundred Naira for children. It’s also a zoo so there are a couple of different animals you get to see. You can picnic there and there are lots of fun things for the children to do. My favorite thing was the lake, the scenery is so lovely. You can also bring in canopies and have a party. There is enough parking space and they close by 6:30pm
The place is cool for picnics and excursions. We saw lions, tortoise, monkeys, python and few other animals. It has a lake and hill for mountain climbing exercise including other obstacle-crossing facilities. The playground is lovely for children. You can go in with your foods and snacks. Entry fee is: adults-₦500, kids-₦300 and infants-free.
If you’re searching for a picnic worthy spot in Abuja , then this is it folks .national children’s park and zoo. Entry fee is now 500 per adult and 300 per child . It’s a picnic so you’re bringing your food and drinks . But if you’re going on a Saturday there’s vendors in front of the park selling snacks and all that. Be prepared to see the animals and birds that live there .including lions and hyenas too .
I was quite impressed with the healthy looking animals. They seemed to have transferred the care of the animals to better hands. The highlight of my visit was seeing the male lions in their enclosure. Wow... those beasts were majestic. Though the park managers need to do something about over grown grasses in the ostriches enclosure for instance.
