National Capitol building - Museum in Boyeros, Cuba
National Capitol building in Boyeros
Description
Wonderful and massive building right in the central Havana. The chapel reminds the Saint Peter basilica in Rome. Started building in March 1926, inaugurated on the 20th May 1929. It costed 17 million pesos. It is one of the major symbols of Cuba in the world. during president Batista mandate it was the official headquarter of the representatives chamber and the Cuban senate. After the Cuba revolution became the headquarter of ministry of science, technology and environment.
MoreHad Fun enjoyed Cuba I did celebrate my birthday here great music fun Cuba is amazing place much love from Belize to Cuba
MoreSuper cool place. Lots of history. Do yourself a favor and hire a photographer. The company we used was great. He doubled as a guide and showed us the city and told us the history of lots of places.
MoreWe visited Havana in June 2022. Rather disappointed, as we were unable to enter the premises of the building, because of a fizzled out pandemic. At the time of our visit to Cuba, the mask mandate was no longer in place, therefore the location being closed doesnt make sense. It could have been the only highlight, worthwhile for our stay in Havana.
MoreEl Capitolio- National Capitol Building is a public edifice in Havana. The building was commissioned by Cuban president Gerardo Machado and built from 1926 to 1929. Capitol is really impressive and beautiful, especially at night.
MoreRecommend to visit in the day as well as in the night. Currently, visitors can’t go in as the place is under maintenance to open as a museum. But you are still allowed to walk around and take pictures outside.
MoreAbsolutely stunning Capitol building that is immaculately well kept and guarded. The architecture is eerily similar to the white house, and is close to iconic Havana destinations like Hotel Inglaterra. If you are in Havana this is a cant miss and its on the edge of China Town which is worth checking out as well!
MoreThe architecture is pretty amazing, the tour inside the building is totally worthy
MoreBeautiful building in Havana! Definitely worth visiting!!
Really cool building, we werent able to go in, I dont think anyone can but it was nice to see it and take some pictures of it.
MoreRestored very recently, it is majestic. It has guided tours every hour.
Great city center, must see if in Havanna. Amazing pictures. Didnt go inside the Capitoli, saw just one room with golden statue.
MoreImpressive building with al lot of recent history of Cuba. At the time we were there (December 2019they didnt have guided tour in English, only audio guide. That should be improved in the future.
MoreDefinitely a must-see place.
It was only possible to check it out from out side. We werent able to see it inside. However we were told there are almost no books and the libraries shelves are almost empty. Also it has not been taken care of.
MoreBeautiful and majestic. The government might be moving there or they had official visitors because they had it closed and with expensive cars and security parked in front when we visited.
MoreWhat a landmark of a building, so impressive. Unfortunately there was lots of work & scaffolding around it but when the work is completed it will certainly be worth 5 stars.
MoreBeautiful building but we couldnt see it from the inside due to renovation
First time I saw this building was in 2012. I saw it again Sept 2019. They have finished with the renovations a few more touches left. Probably one of the best looking buildings in Havana. Besides the new hotels and so on.
MoreA beautiful place. Unfortunately, we’ve stayed just a few days in havana
Amazing building, definitely worth the trip. I really loved the gardens around it, they create an exotic experience. One of the best spots in Havana. Id suggest visiting it early in the morning or late in the evening otherwise its way too here
MoreOpens at 10am Tuesday to Sunday. Two days a week it closes at 12 noon and the other 4 it closes at 1-2 for lunch and then at 5pm I believe. 10 CUK per person entry. You need to buy tickets at the bottom of the stairs, on the left hand side, first. The south side of the building is closed to tourists but the north side and downstairs is open. A security guard will go with you & you have an audio guide in either English or Spanish included in the price. They are still renovating so parts are closed, like the dome and the solid gold Crest statue, etc. But still worth the entry fee and the time to visit.
Morevisited this piece of history recently and it was a super overwhelming structure;however there was a cover on top of dome which made the biulding and dome a bit weird to photograph. great experience overall
MoreI liked it very much! I enjoyed sight seeing and I loved to hear their talented music bands playing in some of the places I visited. I recommend to have a Tour Guide for safety and learning.
MoreAwesome building. The copy of American Capitol.
Should visit Havana, great place.... you dont stop taking photo
Beautiful country with beautiful people. Definitely must visit again!
Beautiful building. Fall 2019 expect completion of restoration.
I love the city. Unfortunately the contrast is huge between the poor and the rich...
MoreNice building from the outside but did not get a chance to see the interior.
....Wow! Wow! what an impressive magnificent land-mark! Although at the time of our visit the building was under reconstruction and surrounded by scaffolding but still one could observe the beau-tii of this awesome master-piece! Magnificent-lii designed for sure it has earn its own distinction as been one of the prestigious Governmental Buildings in the world! Its location is superb as its to be found in one of the better areas of Havana, very clean and the gardens around this area are well cared for and maintained! How nice it would have been to see the inside, for we have seen a few Parliamentary Institutes in our world traveling escapades! Also its one of the few land-marks that one is able to see from many different spots while walking about the streets of old Havana and the old square! This is a MUST SEE when in Havana, Cuba...................
MoreEl Capitolio is a truly impressive building that you need to visit. In any event it is right next to the Parque Central so it is convenient
MoreOne of the best best known Cuban landmarks, the architecture is impressive up close. We went around 10-11 AM and there was hardly anyone, the locals in the area were very nice and helpful. This part of Havana was by far my favorite, make sure this is on your list.
MoreAfter the reparations it looks like a wonderful jewel. The chambers brings you the past in 45 minutes the last the walk around.
MoreHavana is an amazing place, it has some good restaurants and its full of history. You can enjoy going to a salsa bar and listen to some good music. You can pay a trip to Varadero (1 hour and 30 mins from Havanaand see the most beautiful beach in the caribbean! Also, there are trips to Viñales, Cienfuegos and other cool places nearby.
MoreThe monument of Havana. Nice to see but nothing really to do there..
Sush a beautiful place to visit, Cuba in general is just absolutely amazing to experince and visit. The culture and history is what makes this country so lively.
MoreOne of the most iconic parts of Havana. Don’t miss the capital building or the classic colored buildings across the street.
MoreBeautiful architecture and lots of history. I will definitely recommend it as the first place to see when you visit Havana.
MoreAn amazing city. Beautiful, clean, historical and tropical automospher. For sure will be back again
MoreEl Capitolio was absolutely magnificent, the details on the architecture was amazing!! If you are visiting Cuba, you have the walk the steps to the top and check out the detail around the building, its so worth setting an hour aside to scope it out! We thoroughly enjoyed our visit there, so photogenic too!!
MoreI went here and stayed with my uncle who lives a few blocks away. Very beautiful. Havana is beautiful but sadly some areas aren’t maintained very well.
MoreLovely place with old cars and nice atmosphere. Absolutely safe. Just enjoy the moment.
MoreHavana is an incredible city. Its a modern city living in previous centuries. Its amazing. Its extremely hot in summer. Its fun.Its entertainment. Its a place everybody must visit.
MoreA great vacation spot.. people are great... Lots to see... From the live music in most restaurants to the rides in the American classics walking the malecon at sunset. Mohitos flowing like water...Air BB makes getting accommodations an easy task. The Artist district is a must wander through. Roof top bars are a great place to take in the views of the city below. The convertible taxi drivers are a wealth of knowledge as to what you may want to see but didnt even know was there and they are good personal tour guides its their city and they tell it in their point of view.. go visit Cuba.. youll want to go again...
MoreWhen in Havana you shouldn’t miss this landmark even though it’s a bit of an obvious place to visit. It’s a very photogenic place. Tip: if you’re staying at hotel Saratoga as we did make sure to visit the rooftop bar and swimming pool. From here you have a stunning view upon the city below you and more importantly the Capitol. It’s a really nice view.
MoreBest building on the city. Well kept and a excellent architecture design. Must to see in Havana
MoreGorgeous building. All of the residents, tour guides aee quick to boast about how its an exact replica of Washingtons Capitol building. That said you are currently not allowed to go inside the building due to the fact that its being restored, a process that has taken the better part of the past decade.
MoreBeautiful building in the middle of Havanna. The big street infront of it allows you to take a good look at the old cars cruising around
MoreBEAUTIUL x10 building. At first glance it seems to be the exact copy of American capitol. Dont believe it. Its NOT EXACT copy - Cuban Capitl is 7 inches higher.
