Glasnevin, Dublin 9, Ireland, Tallaght
Large area with naturalistic sections, formal gardens, an arboretum and a Victorian palm house.
Excellent place to visit - calm, interesting, well maintained and free! The greenhouses are especially good as a refuge on a cold day like today. Visited as part of the Plant Science Festival, which itself was excellent.
i do love this place ! when stressed or simply i need to enjoy a lovely cuppa and relax hanging around, this must be the place.if you love flowers and plants you cant miss it !! jeysus ! HEAVEN !!
Lovely place, especially after Covid now that all the glass houses are opened back up to the public. A relaxing way to spend some time. There are new sculpture and some improvements that have been made too.
A wonderful place. The greenhouses are absolutely magical and harbor a broad variety of plants, many of which I have never seen before. Another personal highlight were the dahlias!!
Entry is free of charge for this great North Dublin destination. The gardens and especially the historic greenhouses feature plants from different parts of the world, with lots of walks and places to rest and take in the splendour. Simply beautiful for a day out and the kids will love it as well. A café serving the usual fare is on site, as well as spotless toilets. Alternatively, theres a good selection of cafés and little bistros within easy walking distance. Highly recommended!
Lovely place to spend your time. Its a huge place with many different collections of plants and flowers. A very peaceful and calm place.
Beautiful place. Lots of rare trees, plants and flowers to look at. A rare gem in the center of the city. Lots of walking space within an abundance of trees, feels like you are walking in a forest. Look for the hairy squirrels playing around.
I recommend visiting, a magnificent place amidst many trees, orchids and cacti. Totally free. I just have to thank you for the opportunity, I spent about 3 hours walking around and admiring the beauty.
The grounds can also be accessed via Glasnevin Cemetery so you can have a really good dander of a day. Maybe pick a better day than I did! There’s a cafe in Glasnevin Cemetery and then there’s a cafe is the Botanic Gardens so you can stop of twice on your walk. Not sure where you park as I parked at St Paul’s in Glasnevin. Beautifully manicured gardens and a huge ancient palm house. A lovely chilled place to walk about. It was late season so I’d like to go back when all the flowers were in bloom. There’s also Kavanagh’s Gravediggers pub not far.
Beautiful grounds, plants and buildings, you can walk around the grounds and in and out of the ‘big greenhouses’ (I’m not aware of the proper term!see a rare collection of plants. It’s a lovely day to get away from the busy city of Dublin and just relax.
National Botanic Garden is a free to visit garden containing a diverse set of flowers and vegetation. There are multiple greenhouses housing flowers and trees from around the world. There are good onsite cafe and restaurant options. Recommend spending 60-90 minutes to see all different greenhouses. Wish there was more information explaining interesting facts about the plants and flowers. For those taking a cab or driving here please note that Botanic Park is not the same as National Botanic Gardens.
A wonderful place to spend a peaceful few hours, or even a whole day. We were amazed that it was free. Definitely one to visit if youre ever in the area.
Gorgeous planting, free entry & impressive greenhouses. The rose garden is glorious in summer. The borders are magnificent, especially the rose of dahlias in August. Good cafe too.
Its an amazing place, beautiful gardens, a lot of plants, trees, flowers, everything is in perfect condition, well cared for and maintained. The entry is free. You cannot have a picnic, but you really enjoy every moment there. Its perfect for go out to friends, family or partner. There are a coffee shop and toilets inside
OMG! This place is a must see! The trees alone have been growing here since the 1790s!! They are huge! They have old growth forest trees from every corner of the globe, you feel insignificant in comparison to these behemoths!Aside from that; there is something for everyone here, cactus, succulents, roses, peony, and all kinds of flowers, greenhouses, ponds and waterways complete with wildlife and lily pads. The leaves on some species of the plants here are bigger than a garden shed roof! This place amazed me at every turn. You must have comfortable footwear and some time as the grounds are huge. They have bathrooms, a little restaurant and an info desk with some drop in activities to take part in. The best part of this whole experience? Its FREE admission!!
Gorgeous day out. The gardens are stunning and so well kept. Lovely seating areas and perfect for a family picnic. The car park is small so I would recommend to go early, its one car out and one car in system. We visited Arlington Cemetery thats beside the gardens which was beautiful too. The only downside was the cafe had run out of sandwiches come 2 O clock, I would recommend the cafe in Arlington instead. Overall a great day out!
Absolutely amazing place. Many plants from all over the world in one place. The environment is cultivated. There is a cafe where you can have a cup of coffee or a snack. I highly recommend it. And for couples and singles, for young and old.
Cant believe a beautiful place like this is free to visit when many tourist places are not! We cannot even explore the whole garden in a day, so much to see here. Flowers and plants are gigantic, lots of open spacing, huge garden.
Really beautiful place to visit. Its always free entry and there is even a little restaurant that you can go to there if you get hungry! The restaurant is always very busy, though, so be aware.Theres a car park, which is very cheap to use and is located within the grounds of the park. You can even see lots of squirrels running around from time to time! There are toilets that you can access in the same building as the restaurant.
Fabulously well kept gardens in Dublin. The gardens are free to enter and are the perfect place to while away a few hours or an afternoon. They offer a wide range of flowers and plants from all over the world. The large glass houses all over a wide range of tropical plants to view.
A must-see if in Dublin! I was so impressed with these gardens, we spent half a day here. There is so much space to explore and multiple greenhouses. Don’t miss out!
If you are looking for a quiet place to escape the city and relax The Botanical Gardens are a great option! No entry fee. You can just walk around and enjoy the beautiful nature. The gardens are beautiful and tidy. There are different greenhouses with different plants.
Beautiful garden, stunning this time of year. Free entry which is wonderful.Star docked because we had quiche in the tearooms and it wasnt heated through. That said it was very busy and they were under pressure. The car park is also quite small.
Beautifully laid out area presenting our native plants. A lovely place to walk, an oasis. The glass houses are beautiful and house hot house plants.
Great and stunning botanic garden lovely place to visit great for a day out no entry fee.All the flowers, plants and trees labeled and have a nice tea room just in the entry beside the receptionVery organized and clean worth a visit definitely
Beautiful gardens to stroll around, plenty of seats to sit on but the hoards of students and their level of noise when talking/shouting to each other made it difficult to feel any peace. The cafe was too packed and noisy so alternative lunch plans had to be made. A second visit, when student trips are not in season, will enable me to make a second and fairer review.
Lovely place for everyone to see !! Great for a walk or picnic. Wonderful plants. We had wonderful time and it was all for free on that day!
Third visit, and its still as exceptional as before. Beautiful spaces, amazing scenery and quality fresh air 😆The food area is great, all amenities available. The Gardens are large, every time I come here there is a new place I hadnt seen before. Worth the visit. free entry, great place for a book read, catch up with friends, solo reflection walk, group tour and family fun day.y
Literally have no words to describe this breathtaking botanic garden, I can say with no doubt on my mind that its the most beautiful one Ive ever been. It has vast variety of flowers, trees, fruits, vegetables, herbs...An amazing place to come and forget the busy life of dublin, sit on the grass and have a lovely picnic enjoying the incredible view of the gardens.
Loved this place! Stunning and enormous garden with different flower beds/pots/smaller exhibitions. Gardens are divided according to regions where the plants are naturally found but you can find some special places such as the Rose Garden which contains only roses.Thank you to everybody who works hard to maintain such beauty. will be back soon ❤️
Excellent place to soend a day with nature , if you are in Dublin . Also have good cafe. 5 star experience. . Loved it
Super beautiful, must visit while in Dublin!!! Loved it you can also relax here for multiple hours with friends. One of my friends had an injury and they instantly offered us a wheelchair super nice!
I could spend my days lost in there, rain or shine because nature is just mesmerizing. Not to mention the greenhouses which are both, delicate and majestic! Get a guided tour if you would like to find out everything all at once but if you have the chance to go back again and again, just take your time to enjoy ❤️
My first time in the Botanic Gardens, and Im going to Dublin almost every year since 1995. Its a beautiful place to go to and must be even nicer in summer. I didnt have enough time to explore the whole area, but what I saw makes me want to go there again in August, when Im back in Ireland. (And the are a lot of grey Squirrels)
Absolutely stunning. We did have to get a taxi to visit the gardens from where we were but it was absolutely worth it. The gardens were so gorgeous and I appreciated that they had signs on so many of the plants to identify them. Lots of fun nature to see as well - magpies, fat squirrels that come up to you to beg for food, storks, ducks, etc. The conservatories had more exotic plants (cacti, palms and more). At the end we just found a bench to sit on and relax. Gorgeous.
Beautiful gardens to potter about with. Well kept and lots to explore with the little people. Friendly squirrels too! Free in but have to pay for the parking which is to be expected.
This garden is a pure piece of art! Reception team is lovely and very helpful! You’ll meet squirrels along your walk in the park and learn a lot a out Flora and Fauna present there.
What a wonderful place with many flowers in bloom. We did our own walking tour of Dublin and the gardens were certainly worth our 3km walk with some helpful locals showing us where to goSome of the greenhouses are still not accessible but that did not detract from the rest of the well maintained gardens and grounds. We wished we could have spent a bit more time here
Great place for a relaxing day. Suitable for everyone. No entry fee, only parking fee for cars but very reasonably priced. Nice cafe and toilets inside. Very well maintained. Loads of squirrels and birds that kids enjoy. Would need an entire day to go around the garden and the greenhouses. My kids 9 & 2 enjoy spending the day here and have never complained. Every time we have visited, there has been something new, doesnt get boring. Very limited Parking space and can get full quickly on holidays. So plan ahead.
Beautiful spot for a walk, including greenhouses and trails for everyone and every season. Highly recommend for those looking for a relaxing way to spend a couple of hours enjoying nature and plants from all over the world, for free!
The botanical gardens consist of a large park with different areas, and several greenhouses.I absolutely loved the greenhouses, they are well-maintained, display a great variety of exotic and native plants, and in the big one you really feel like in a jungle, I especially liked the small jungle-hut hidden in the forest.Parking (for a feeis available,As well as a café (botanical garden tea roomswhere you can find food and bathrooms.Everything there to have a lovely trip,There is no entrance fee; which i think is great 👍
Very nice place to visit. The gardens are beautiful and tidy. The flowers are getting very beautiful at this time of the year. Its a calm and peaceful place to get some lazy day.The coffee shop is very handy. The parking slot is very small, just few places, but it has affordable pricing.Totally worth the visit.
Excellent place to enjoy a sunny afternoon, you can enjoy yourself in many ways while appreciating nature too. We got to feed the squirrels, bask in the sunlight and take nice photos in the greenhouse.
Amazing place. Crazy how much diverse plants can be. The different greenhouses offer all the different tropical or unregional plants from all over the worlds which for most of them I didnt know existed. The outside areas are also lovely, but preferably to be visited on a sunny day.
Truly a magical place! So many beautiful species of plants, flowers but also trees. Ive never seen a botanical garden this big.Its a great experience even for just sitting down and admiring nature.
Years since I have been here as I now live a long distance away. Things have changed but now very child and elderly friendly. Another 2 weeks or so and the Tulips will be out. Lovely though with the underplanting of Crocus, daffodils and woodland anemone.
The buildings here alone make this worth visiting. If you’re not a plant person you may not get tons of enjoyment from this place but I recommend a stroll through anyways as it’s free. If you are a plant person you don’t need me to convince you to attend. Plenty of things to see and the grounds were beautifully kept. I would love to return here one day.
A lovely place, very peaceful and stunning botany all around! The greenhouses are currently closed due to COVID-19 however, there are tons of species outside to look at. A lovely place for a walk in nature. They have toilet facilities available as well as a tea room
It was amazing experience. Trees, plants, flowers and many more from all over the world. Its worth of your time. Lots of information is there if you are interested in this kind of stuff. The garden is very well marinated. You can also buy visitors token and other souvenirs from the shop inside garden. There is a cafe as well. Must visit place.
This is a great place to relax with the whole family. Here are wonderful plants that bloom all year round, replacing each other. Magnificent old glasshouses. Almost tame squirrels that can be hand-fed nuts. Turtles in the pond. And lots of birds.
