Upscale-casual restaurant with a seafood-focused menu, waterfront patio seating & a full bar.
Honestly incredibly disappointing. We made plans to have this food placed as a to go order for our business, when no one answered the phone. Even then, having decided to drive to the restaurant and place this order, I couldn’t find a restaurant employee until I walked around the restaurant to find someone. This is at 11:15, 15 minutes after they’re supposed to be open. When I asked if I could please place a to go order, she said “we won’t be fulfilling to go orders because we are short staffed.” Does that even make sense? Definitely not, considering the place was totally empty. The staff member that I did speak to was on her cell phone, and unwilling to help in any way. She simply refused my order, the only present paying customer, so she could continue on being entertained by her phone I guess.Incredibly UNPROFESSIONAL, UNHELPFUL, and UNWELCOMING.I will never go back.
Never disappointed, authentic New Orleans cooking. The food is absolutely delicious, very nice service. I think we’ve eaten almost everything on the menu lunch and dinner and have never gotten a bad meal.
I never leave reviews but I was disappointed with the service and ambiance at a restaurant I used to love. Food was great. Service was rushed and could it kill you to play some music? Server was told it was a birthday dinner and she totally ignored it. Things aren’t the same but is it that bad? Do yourself a favor and go to MS!
People I pick up on Lyft and Uber all say it is brilliant and recomend it
Was greeted, seated, and our party from out of town was told that we were not welcome to dine due to someone in our party wearing a tank top tee shirt. Would have been nice to know about a dresscode. It said casual online so we thought we would be fine to dine. Very disappointed.
First of all the food was excellent. I called to make reservations Thursday evening for Friday evening. I was told to call back in 1 hour because they were busy. Very unprofessional I thought. Reluctantly,. I called back Friday and made reservations for Friday evening. The food was once again excellent! However, $10.50 for a drink floored me. If Im going to get screwed I would at least like a kiss.. I would go back but only drink water or tea.
1st class dining experience & fantastic food. Take a stroll along the marina after dinner.
I eat here often - mostly for lunch. The lunch experience is consistently good and inexpensive; however, the dinner experience was excellent all the way around. For starters, we ordered spinach and artichoke dip. The dip was good and tasted exactly how it should taste. It was served with fried puffed chips, which added a different element than regular corn chips. I enjoyed the combination. We also ordered a small salad and chicken/sausage gumbo. All were good. For entrees, we ordered a ribeye, trout, and lasagna. The steak was cooked to order and had good flavor. The lasagna was a huge portion and was also enjoyed. The star, however, was the trout. The trout was served with a meuniere sauce and was topped with a good portion of fresh crab. The fish and crab were very fresh. In fact, every time I’ve ordered fish at Nathan’s, it’s been very fresh. We ordered 2 pieces of trout. Each piece was cooked perfectly and had consistent flavor. I can’t say enough how impressive this dish was! Finally for dessert we split a praline bread pudding, which was served warm and was a delicious way to wrap up our experience. Our waitress was excellent - she was extremely attentive, made recommendations, and helped accommodate a few requests from the kitchen.Overall, our dinner experience was excellent.
Good service. Lovely view. Ate the Gumbo.
Great food and awesome service. Thanks all. I highly recommend.... Beautiful atmosphere on the water accessible by boat or car!
Service was good. Food was ok but the price is a little high for what you get.
Good happy hour! The bar is small but great. We did Valentines dinner once too. Very good food!
I’ve only dined in person once and my experience was fairly nice. However, my issue is the lunch session. It’s to my understanding that the lunch time is 11am -3pm Monday through Friday.Well 2 weeks ago I made a phone order for the fried stuffed catfish and pasta dish and it was absolutely delicious a young man took my order over the phone and I don’t work far so I stopped and picked it up within 30 minutes when I arrive to the restaurant there was a nice elderly lady that met me and greeted me and I informed her that I was picking up my phone order and I said a young man took the order and she said yes Nathan she said he’s named after his father or grandfather I can’t recall and we exchanged pleasantries and I picked up my order and I left.well today I call about 2:45 to order the same item that I ordered two weeks ago a lady answer the phone and she was somewhat rude I informed her that I was calling to place a pick up order to go and I was trying to make sure I ordered before the lunch time was over she stated to me that I couldn’t make a phone order I had to come in and order the food I said well that’s not what I I did two weeks ago and she said well that’s the rules now. so my concern is there should be some consistency how is it that I was able to order over the phone two weeks ago and now today that’s not the case I was very disheartened by that and on top of that I was spoken to very rudely.
We make a point of stopping here every time we’re in town. This is a 5 star restaurant at reasonable prices. Last visit had the artichoke crab soup, the scallops, the smoked oyster appetizer, oyster spinach salad and trout. Everything was great. Food was fresh from local sources and prepared perfectly.
WOW surf and turf…. OFF the chain…. Service exceptional and great atmosphere.
This place is off the beaten Path but has excellent atmosphere,is on a water way.Excellent view, The charbroiled oysters were awesome….best I’ve had and believe me I’ve had a lot of them in many different restaurants! They have a large selection of wines. And the food was tantalizing and delicious. I can advise to make reservations ahead of time because this place is hopping!!!! Service was on spot and the bathrooms were very very clean!
This had to be the best food Ive ever had. We love trying new places and everything we had was so perfect
Crab cake appetizer was very good, with plenty of crab. The garlic filet and the trout christopher were both outstanding. The key lime pie was dense and very tart, exactly the way I prefer. The amaretto creme brulee was tasty, but might have been better warmed. The restaurant is a bit tricky to find, tucked into the marina, and the online menu needs to be updated.
Yes! Yes! Yes! Every dish was so flavorful and melt in your mouth. The steak filet made it on my top 3! Wonderful service and great views. Its romantic, great for a date night!
A favorite Lunch and Dinner venue. Food always great and matched by excellent service. Pre-dinner cocktail in the bar overlooking the Bayou is great way to wind down before a delicious dinner meal.
Lovely place just over the bayou. Food is amazing. Service very good. I cant wait to go back.
Wonderful Owner & Staff!Soft Shell Crab Sliders are Delicious! Such a great variety of excellent food!Thank you All for making me feel at home this afternoon! Very Nice!!!
I sincerely do not get the high rating for this restaurant. 4 of us went on a Weds. evening. Seems like 1 young woman was the hostess, waitress and server for the entire restaurant. Needless to say, service was slow. No bread basket. Onion ring appetizer , $12 !!! Small plate w small over fried rings. Tasteless. I got special- $24.99 surf and turf (soft shell crab). I asked for medium well steak; came rare. The crab was fried to death. Just a lump of fried batter. No crab meat. Friend’s shrimp platter- again, over fried dried out shrimp and BURNED French fries. The other 2 plates were described as ‘just ok’. Very disappointed. A most i enjoyable meal/ I didn’t even eat mine. Will not be back.
We had dinner and drinks. The food was awesome my hat off to the chef. Staff was very nice.
The coconut shrimp and orange duck are absolutely delicious! The service was great and setting even better. Highly recommend!
We went without reservations at around 2 pm on a Friday afternoon. We enjoyed Calamari and Bacon Wrapped Scallops as Appetizers. For the main course we had the Cobb Salad (with Grilled Shrimpand the Bacon and Cheddar Burger (delicious sourdough bun). For dessert we split an order of Bread Pudding. Everything was delicious and the service was great. Nice dining environment, we will be back.
First time here in several years. My memory of previous visits was of delicious and beautifully prepared and presented food. Its seems that things have changed a bit. Service is still great and our server, Emily, did a fabulous job taking care of us. We were let down by the food, however. We had the bacon scallops and the calimari as appetizers. The scallops were good, perfectly cooked. The calimari was terrible, very over-battered, and the batter was kind of doughy and just failing off. For entrees we had the Seafood Eggplant Napoleon and the Trout Amandine (sauteed). The eggplant dish was very tasty, with lots of pasta. But the eggplant portion was rather small, with only a smattering of crabmeat stuffing between layers. The trout dish was just okay, tasted nice, but fish was overcooked and garlic mashed potatoes a bit dry and stiff. Dessert was creme brulee, which tasted good, and was perfectly bruleed by our server. But I think that was the thinnest layer of custard Ive ever had in a creme brulee, maybe a 1/2 inch at best.Well certainly come back again, at least one more time. Perhaps this was just an off night for them. Ill keep my fingers crossed that our next visit will match what my previous memories were.
Would definitely go here again! The food was great and scenery was an added bonus as most windows overlook the Bayou Liberty. The staff was friendly and quick.
Always good food - great service & nice atmosphere. Wish they would do traditional creme brulee , bananas foster or white chocolate bread pudding to end a meal. Will always highly recommend this rest.
Wonderful food, wonderful service and wonderful drinks. Do yourself a favor and make this your regular spot. Absolutely amazing. The best softshell crabs 🦀 you will ever eat!Anything on the menu is to die for. Make your reservation and get in there.
I promise you that was the worst food I have ever had in a restaurant it was disgusting and all 5 of use had a different dish and everyone was very disappointed with the food. Great service but I am not going back there for sure. I should have taken pictures of our food and posted them. At first I thought someone was playing a trick on us with the food. Unreal BEWARE DONT GO THERE TO EAT. Shame on you NATHANS. YUCK
Superb menu of authentic NOLA area sea food. The best eggplant parmesan Ive ever tasted. Beautiful views and great service.
A group of us women went to Nathans for Happy Hour. Our waitress was nice and did ok with our orders. We were approached by the Bartender and was rudely told that we would have to leave before 6:30 pm because they had reservations for that time in the bar. Needless to say we left at 6 :50 pm and no one had shown up for their reservations. We felt like we were being kicked out of the bar . We were not being rowdy just wanted to enjoy some time together. We will not be going back to.Nathens due to the way we were treated.
Wonderful food. Huge portions. Just a little loud. My fiance proposed to me and it was videoed. No one could hear what he was saying. All in all we had a wonderful time.
Always an excellent dining experience every time Ive been here over the years. Emily always providing excellent service and Chantal behind the bar keeping everyone happy! The Chicken Andouille Gumbo is delicious... with a perfect roux. The plump and juicy raw Louisiana Oysters and the Charbroiled ones are sooooo good! Also those soft shell buster crabs are excellent alongside a perfectly cooked filet mignon!
Deserves 6+ stars! Food l The food was excellent and the service even better! Theyre doing it right at Nathans!!!
The atmosphere, service and food were excellent. I have not been here in a while and was impressed by the remodeling. My husband both had grilled fish entrees and they were both delicious. The chocolate pecan pie was decadently wonderful. The whole experience wonderful from beginning to end.
I wish I had taken pictures of my salad and entree last night! I consider myself somewhat of a “foodie” and the blue cheese salad was delightful and the surf and turf, where the filet ranked up there as my top 2 filets ever consumed was So juicy, so flavorful, perfectly cooked and every bite was delicious. Can’t ask for anything more from this meal.
Amazing food. Incredible value for the money. Okayservice. Our waiter had three tables and we didnt see him that often.
Hidden spot. Very good. Love the view of the bayou. Waitress chantal was on her game. Great salesperson.
I to from a past review I read thought the oysters were salty and cooked in old oil. The mike snapper we ordered two came out burnt black on one side I had to wait 10 minutes for a new one when everyone was eating and they did not take it off the check. Also when explaining how the sweet potato hash was prepared they didn’t say it had ham in it! The. Fish was good the 2nd time and hot bread. Christmas dinner was much better. I don’t ever send reviews because I am busy but this was not taken care of like a nice restaurant should have and i travel the country eating at nice places.
Disability friendly! Elevator. I got an entree and my guest got an appetizer, both of us a got soft drink for a total of $50.00. I have eaten here before for lunch and prices werent as steep. Beware.
I had the surf and turf. The surf was rubbery and the flavor ucky. I guess l dont like cold water lobster and found it inferior to the so called Maine lobster. The steak was grilled to my liking but not memorable. The wine was good and so was the service.
We found this place after a long, long day of sailing on the lake. Our boat broke and we were trapped there with a lot of hungry, tired scouts. The folks at Nathans were *wonderful* to us. They took great care of our scouts and we decided to eat dinner there. Holy cow the food was wonderful!!! I was completely blown away by how great the food was at this little restaurant in Slidell. There were nine of us eating and everyone had something different. Every single person thought their meal was excellent. I had the fried oyster salad and Im pretty Im going to dream about it! We found this place accidentally; but, for sure, every time I come to this area I will eat there again. A++ for service and A++ for the food!
Staying in Slidell my wife and I took a chance on this place because of the good reviews and hit a home run. Tucked into a marina, somewhat nondescript at night, we were pleasantly surprised by the white linen tablecloths and high quality we found. My surf and turf mixed platter was highlighted by a perfectly cooked steak. Snapper was tasty and the chicken and andouille gumbo was well above average. Only negative on the night was a too sweet Old Fashioned. Nathan (owners sonwas a pleasant host.
**As far as the patrons who rated this eatery with 1-3 stars, it sounds like their rating was based off of an opinion of an employee or the pricing. Anybody can deep fry food, that’s why it’s cheap. But there are VERY few Grillmasters out there. The Chefs at Nathan are experienced and the portions are priced accordingly**Today was my wife and my first time eating at Nathan’s Restaurant. With our daughter at home sick, we ordered for carryout, but nothing about the experience was disappointing. The place has such a great feel to it. The view was great, right on the bayou, but it couldn’t hold a candle to the perfectly seared blackened filet mignon that we ordered mid-rare. We ordered Nathan’s Mixed Grille. We savored each bite of steak, perfectly paired with 4 fresh spears of grilled asparagus, 3 large scallops and an ample portion of tail-on grilled shrimp. The meal comes with choice of side so we ordered the twice baked potato which was also amazing. Much thanks to Nathan, the head chef, for one of the best, if not THE BEST meal I have ever eaten! The next time we dine at Nathan’s we want to try the filet and lobster tail, and it’s priced only $1 more than Nathan’s Mixed Grille. The portions are large enough my wife and I shared the meal and still had leftovers.Much thanks to Nathan and the Servers for a wonderful meal!!-Bobby & Karissa Opp
The service was amazing. Our server name is Lisa and she was knowledge and nice. It was my girlfriend and I 1 year anniversary and we had an issue with one of the mixed drinks we had, but she was so nice about it and took care of it immediately. The food was amazing. We had the seared tuna for an appetizer. She had the Eggplant Napoleon and I had the Pecan crusted fish. Everything was cooked perfectly and was delicious. We plan to go back again for lunch and bring friends from out of town in the near future.
The Trout Almandine was delish!! Great service and beautiful views on Bayou Bonfouca.
"Meh" is really the best word to describe my two experiences at this restaurant. The food is not as good as the high prices would indicate. They could knock $10 off the price of every entree and $5 off every appetizer and still be slightly over what I would expect for the price. The food isnt bad, its just not so good that anyone planning to eat there should go in expecting to pay at least $50/person if you get appetizers and/or have a drink. Ive had much better fried seafood platters from multiple establishments at half the price. A stack of four onion rings on top of the platter isnt worth $15 to me.If I were to advise others, Id recommend a steak because Ive been underwhelmed by the seafood.
Very nice upscale atmosphere. Waitress was very friendly and attentive. Food was so so, very expensive, entree was great, had pecan and panko crusted snapper which was delicious, sides were not well seasoned. My wife had a fried seafood platter which she liked, what I tasted off there tasted like basic fried food. I will not return, way over priced.
