Václavské nám. 68, 110 00 Nové Město, Czechia, Jihlava
Grand museum established in 1818 with a range of natural science & history exhibits, plus events.
Very big museum, has the mix exhibition of classic and modern. Not so expensive price made it a must visit place in Prague. Don’t forget to go to the highest Level in the museum, beautiful pictures can be taken easily there:)
Very impressive facade with opulent interiors. The entry fee is about 8 euros. The exhibits are very interesting and I loved the minerals section. There could have been more displays and information on Czechia history and culture. Free Wifi for visitors which is a big plus when youre a tourist.
I enjoyed visiting the National Museum. There was a wide variety of things to see ranging from animals to rocks to musical art. They a few immersive exhibitions that included touch or sound.I enjoyed the exhibit that encouraged recycling and becoming more environmentally aware. It was geared more towards children but still had good information about the little things you can do to create big long term impact. The top floor had a beautiful view of Prague. There was a line/wait to go up to see it, but it was well worth the wait.
The museum building alone is worth the visit with its stunning architecture and decor. The exhibitions are really interesting, especially the temporary ones. I went there in October 2021 and there was a lovely exhibition on Czech composers which is still going on until until the end of the year, do check it out!
I bought the ticket in the kiosk in the museum. Not a big fan of the prehistory living creatures so I just skipped those exhibits. Really love the crystals. It would be nice if there are more detailed description of each kind of them.
Amazing place thats well worth a visit. Stunning building with hundreds of exhibits. Really interesting insights into the history of the Slavic people and the formation of the Czech Republic.
Fantastic. Beautiful building, splendid exhibition of minerals, fossils, stuffed animals atc. Admission is 250 CZK per adult, kinds under 15 are free of charge. Small bistro in 1st floor. Free lockers in minus 1 floor. 3rd floor is the way to dome (not for wheelchairsbut big line of waiting people. There is a passage to second building, but in 3 hours we saw hardly half of first building. Will return for sure, kids loved it and us adults as well. Highly recommend.
Loads to see, some pretty amazing things to see. From minerals to meteorites, animal kingdom has some fabulous beasts in. The Fin whale suspended from the ceiling is rather impressive. Best to book the day before to avoid the queues.
Prague’s national museum architecture is spellbinding, you don’t have to be an expert in architecture or to be a museum person in order to appreciate this beauty. There is a wide range of historical objects, and it needs 1-3 hours.Prices are reasonable, you may have to wait outside if the museum is full and you don’t have a reservation. It’s definitely worth your time!
This museum definitely did not disappoint. For 250czk/$10 you get two see two museums. The first one is a bit smaller and only has two floors but the second building is a lot bigger and has a lot more interesting exhibits than I thought at first. Would highly recommend dedicating a few hours to see this if youre visiting Prague
Really beautiful museum! For the map of the museum and a guide, you could download the app of the museum. This was really nicely made. However it was sometimes hard to find the way. The museum was very big, so unfortunately we couldnt see everything. It was our last day in Prague, but otherwise we would have come back the next day to see the rest.
It was really beautiful. The museum itself in terms of architecture is really impressive. We visited 3 exhibitions. The prehistoric ones was my favorite. U got skeletons of beautiful old animals and dinosaurs. That was cool.My girlfriend who is a student got a reduction everywhere in the city except in that museum. Cant really say that the cashier was nice to us. Great experience overall.
I was astonished by the meteors and mineral stone section. It was refreshing and a delight to the eyes. Also, a walk thorough of prehistoric time and evolution by amazing visuals was one of a kind. One of my favourite museums. Be prepared to walk a lot and tired legs. We took 3 hours and couldnt finish everything. If you are really interested in all details, you probably need three visits to get the most out of it. If you are in Prague, this is definitely the place you should visit. MUCH Recommended.
Probably the best museum in Prague. The entry ticket CZK 250 definitely worth the price. It has crazy amount of collections on fossils and minerals. Prepare to spend the entire afternoon there. It took me 3 hours to finish only 1 floor.
Great museum in an incredibly beautiful building. Exhibitions of minerals, the history and evolution of animals, the history of the Czech Republic/Bohemia and other rotating exhibitions. With the old building and the new building combined, a day can easily be spent here - especially if you care about history and want to learn more. The accompanying app of the museum is good for knowing where you are in the exhibitions as it can show you exactly what room you are in, what is in it and the descriptions of the items in said room.
Great museum! Architecture is stunning, outside as inside. But aside from that exabitions are interesting as well. Although I found the permanent exhibition about evolution is a bit childish.Dont forget to climb all the way up to the viewing terrace. You can get a nice view of Prague from above
A great museum experience! The building is breathtaking and the exhibitions are well designed and impressive. I enjoyed listening to the audio guide through the mobile application and following the predefined routes while being guided by the app.My main complaint is that there was too much to see and hear and I ended up leaving after spending 3 hours in the old building. I suggest that tickets stay valid for a couple of entries so that one can come multiple times and enjoy the whole content.
I downloaded the Museum app and it was great with it, minimum reading, fun quizzes and you can use the app as a guide through every exhibition. Great experience! I love it there.
Great and well looked after museum hosted in a stunning building. The minerals and meteorites collections are very nice and there is even a room with luminescent minerals that glow in the dark when exposed to UV light. You can also touch an iron meteorite and see many sections of how a meteorite looks inside. You can visit the cupola using the elevator but its not that much to look at. The view is nice, but there are nicer things inside. The evolution exhibition is also very well put together, with many specimens and displays that helps you visualize the scale of some facts you read about. They do emphasize a lot on things discovered or located in the Czech region rather than focusing on global facts, but its still an enjoyable result. It is the Czech Nationaluseum, after all. There are some other Czech history related exhibitions, for those interested. You can spend many hours here.
Amazing museum. Amazing building. So happy to see Ukrainian flag on it. Thank you to Czech Republic and its amazing people for supporting Ukraine in this challenging time. Bless you all and glory to Ukraine 🇺🇦
Amazing place, really well renovated. Lot of different rooms with animals from trilobite till nowadays animals. Amazing view from top of the building which has really high steps. There is a whale skeleton or model of dinosaurs. You can see also minirals which is glowing or amazing colours... It is better to buy tickets online.
perfect!I really loved the museum. It’s possible to go to the top and walk around the glass dome, the view over Prague is spectacular. It contains information about WW2, famous composers of Czechia and the Czech history. Also there is a huge exhibition of minerals, so interesting! We planned two hours and that was wayy to short, it’s better to plan with 4-5 hours.
One of the most beautiful places in Czech Republic. Definitely recommended, must visit. The museum is huge, and it almost takes a full day if you are interested in understanding the history, geography, and geology. The samples of minerals are fascinating. One of a kind!Tickets are 250czk/ adult and there is no guided tour(in any languageavailable. Totally worth it, you will not regret. The clock room and refreshments are also available inside.Keep all these factors in mind while planning a visit.
The museum is extremely large and it offers many different things to see. I was impressed with the minerals and the evolution parts. Definitely recommending to visit twice as it takes a very long time to look at everything, read all the texts etc.
It is a very interesting museum, especially the Old building with the Natural History part.I would have liked more interactive exhibition but all in all a pleasant experience. The ticket allows you to visit both building connected with an underground tunnel. The view from the done is amazing
Central to Prague and a great find, we spent almost an entire (wetday here, learning the history of Central Europe (and Czechia particulalry), with fascinating and gripping displays. Additionally the natural history section was more than we ever expected. And specialist exhibitions (on our dates, notable Czech musiciansare well presented. The building itself is beautiful, palatial in fact and worth a visit inside just for itself. And not to be missed at any cost is a trip up to the cupola (domewith a spectacular view over the entire city.
Spent 3 hours here and could have stayed longer. Interesting exhibits. The geology section was much better than the Natural History museum in London. The building itself is beautiful.
I must admit I wasnt expecting such museum. Im really not into prehistoric stuff or natural history or minerals. I thought I could see many Czech artists artworks but instead it was mostly about the countrys history. Nevertheless the museum is huge, the part about Czech composers mixing music extract and comics is incredible. Visit of the rooftop was also nice. The design of the sets and rooms was also pretty ingenuous. and the architecture is impressive. I highly recommend.
Museum is divided into two parts, one modern art, the other the historical; both are connected by a tunnel. The posters are accompanied by the engaging illustrations/descriptions. The local staff is not of so much help, they are not guide. So you need to read the descriptions or watch the short movies projected on the walls.Seeing the museum takes all the day, possibly 4 hours minimum. The section of fossils and minerals and gems is very informative. The elevator Video: it’s cylindrical elevator which actually doesn’t move, it’s the pictures projected on the interior walls that scroll down making the lift feel like going up with great audio visual effects. Not for the people suffering from epilepsy.Reading the life stories of various artists was full of sadness as their retiring years were spent in depression and delirium because the governments and the societies abandoned them without much recognition. We need to honor them while they are live, nothing vents out from our pockets for offering genuine appreciation for the artists. Thanks
A museum like this one is a must if you are visiting Prague. It houses different expositions, from wilderness and evolution to the story of their medieval times, that all feel like you are in another world, as every detail is polished so that your experience is great in all ways. Really recommend visiting, as well as spending great amounts of time at the geology section. You will not be disappointed!
The place is pretty and interesting. I would say it would take a whole day or multiple days if you want to cover all the sections thoroughly. For some reason if you buy tickets online they are more expensive than buying them at the ticket window.
Narodni Muzeum/ National museum is mind blowing - not only beautiful building outside and inside ,but expositions are so interesting and created in such a cool way ,that not only kids and students will be engaged to learn something new. I spent 5 hours walking around and even its not enough and i wish i had more time .I highly recommend it .
A magnificent Building that in and of itself is worth the cheap entry fee to see. You can see from my photos just how beautiful the place is! The exhibitions are particular exciting except for the recent history one which goes quite in-depth with information of the time and area and has video works too. The Czech composers part is rather incredibly too. Some of the arrangements of items, mainly the armour feels wrong as they have a jousting helmet with a regular combat armour and the two wouldn’t go together.Staff seemed friendly and the place was clean, it’s worth an hour or two of your time
You can spend a whole day here. Best collection of minerals I’ve seen all over the world. Enjoyed the meteorites as well. Prehistory and evolution sections were also worth visiting.
This was by far one of the most beautiful museums I have ever been to. The architecture of the building was breath taking.Národní muzeum had so many different exhibitions and I enjoyed all of them. My favorite was the Hall of Minerals there were so many different minerals to admire and all of them were beautiful. This museum has something for everyone, a must visit in Prague!
They have some beautiful stuff to look at, but in the end its a little boring. If youre into history youll be right at home in this beautiful building. The text is a little small and hard to read at times, but generally a really nice walk through the exhibitions.
Lovely museum, definitely worth the ticket price. We spent 2 and a half hours here and still didnt see half the exhibits. Its stunning inside and the exhibitions are well thought out, also the information cards are in English aswell as Czech. The museum cafe is very reasonably priced too, if you need a pit stop. Delighted we stopped in here.
One of the best museums I ever experienced. The music installing is great. The evolution and showcase of all the different animals, alive or extingt is the best part of this Museum. The rocks are nice but just something for people that are invested in that topic
From outside glorious building, but inside its even bigger. National museum is a place where you can find a huge amount of information about Czech Republic in general. This place is a must see if you are a Tourist in Prague. Every level has his own exhibition which are about different topics. Music, cinematography, history, culture, politics, etc. 3-4 hours of pure enjoyment.
This place is simply amazing, the amount of effort that is put in to make this a great place to visit is evident. They have an amazing collection of rocks and minerals which is a must see if youre interested in rocks, this includes meteorites and radioactive materials like uranium, minerals that naturally glow in the dark etc.In addition to this they also have evolution of Earth, musical masters from Czechia. Its pretty hard to see all the exhibits in one day unless you breeze thru them. But this place is definitely one of the better natural history museums that Ive seen.Tip: Buy tickets online for no waiting times in queues.
To be honest I expected more from this museum. Compared to other "main museums" in capital cities this one is very weak when it comes to the exhibits inside. The architecture and the building are amazing and the staff is very friendly. Beautiful geological collection. The price matches the experience and with that in mind you should check it out.
The architecture is breathtaking and it even has a viewing point overlooking the city! Great natural collection especially the gemstones room was amazing. Loved the 20th-century meusiem, and the sound section, they are rather innovative and out there. Was a little disappointed in the lack of paintings but maybe we didnt find the sections but it was rather different from what I expected from a museum. I liked it more but still felt like something was missing.
Great experience! The exhibitions were so interesting, a lot of hard work has been done here. The building itself is wonderful, the view from the dome just breathtaking and all staff very welcoming and helpful. A must see!
The National Museum complex has a wide range of exhibitions to dazzle with! And at a VERY AFFORDABLE PRIZE, I might even say its CHEAP for everything you get to experience. Whether as a Czech or foreign visitor its a very interesting and enlightening experience. The museum is HUGE, so bring tennis shoes and be prepared to spend the whole day there!
Great place to spend afternoon. Usually a little crowded with families with kids, specially on weekends. You can also visit an exposition in next building - take underground tunnel with cool video projection. If you want to see the roof take elevator from first floor or take stairs (in upper floors there are usually queues for the elevator)
First of all I must say that they are fast responding on the mail and really professional. Secondly I must say that the lady working on a ticket office is the most professional ticket girl that I have seen in my life. When it comes to the workers working inside of the museum that is terrible. No one speaks English. They were stocking us and if our mask moves for just a millimeter from our nose they were like hunting us to say that we must move our mask on our nose perfectly. They were literally acting like a old psychopaths that are trying not to die from corona. One thing that I must say that disappointing me in the museum is that is not well Mapped out and that we didn’t know from where to start, the direction of where should we go, some of the exhibits that were interactive didn’t work .. but I must say that exhibitions are stunning, breathtaking, interesting, interactive, worth of your time and attention. We spent around five hours in the museum and we recommend you not to skip the new building because there is an exhibition about periods of time from 1914 till 2004. You must visit the dome and the stones and mineral collection.
Came in spontaneously 2 hours before closing time. The exhibit was awesome! The ground floor cafe was delicious. Fair prices. Husband loved lemon meringue pie!Tickets were only 250czk
A stunning building with amazing exhibits inside. This is a beautiful structure inside and out (photos do not do any justice). A must is to go to the top of the museum to the viewing area. Stunning views of Prague. Various exhibits are going on at anytime, so best to check online to see what you want to see on the given day. Weekends (especially during winterare very busy—-if you want to avoid the kids—-best to go during the week. There is a cafe inside the museum as well.
Perfect place for a bad-weather day. Here you can spend easily half a day looking at many different exhibitions. The architecture of the old building is just stunning.Nice little feature in the underground connection to the new building is the live projection on both walls through the history of the world in the beginning, and the history of Prague. Also very impressive is the "elevator through time" which is a 360 degrees projection with you sitting in the middle. For sure it would be too much to describe everything here. Just go and visit yourself, its definitely recommend from my perspective!
Mainly rating for the area. The museum is in front of the famous Wenceslas Square which I think it is very overrated. The area is insanely crowded. Many buildings are renovated and modern looking (unlike many places in Prague). Not much of unique local stuffs but plenty of huge franchised brands.
