Národná zoologická záhrada Bojnice in Zvolen
Description
Nice Zoo for kids, services are quite strange and food is awfull but you are there for animals 😉. Nice new pavilion for elephants, butterfly pavilion is completely empty and in four hours we werent able to see lion 😕. We will come back for sure to see him 😁.
MoreThe Zoo is worth visiting. It is quite big and landscape around it is very beautiful. Also you have a great view on the famous Bojnice castle. We especially liked the new housing of the elephants.
MoreBeen there for millions times since my childhood :possible to pay by card at the entrance, but still, it’s better to have cash in your wallet for another shopping in the zoo. There’s very low possibility to order something healthy within the zoo area, mostly fast food is being offered. There are many parking lots near to the zoo available, but you can pay in cash only,no possibility of paying by card.
MoreGreat place to go. Definitely would recommend to anybody who wants to spend some time with the family. Lovely food and excellent service and staff. Thank you Slovakia
MoreNice place. My child was very happy. Highly recommend to visit but be aware of let your children to buy something there as some pr*ck is "stealing money" from children. My 9 year old child has bought a toy and has paid for it, but sale person told her that he has forgot that she had paid. He just fool a kid. And my child has paid again. He was just lucky that I wasnt there as it was school trip. Please share this post with every teacher who plan to organise school trip to zoo and ask children to report if somethig similar will happen. Its not about the money at all, its about to catch scummer and to terminate his trade license. Have a nice summer holidays!🙂
MoreNot the best, but i liked it.The dinosaur park was closed.
Amazing place
Super.
Small and beautiful ❤️
One of the most incredible selection of birds I have ever seen
Splendid!
So the lions have 10 meters to walk, which they dont because its too small. The deer have incredible space but the primates, bears and big cats are suffering in small spaces. The orang utan is counting his days while lying near dead in his little cabin. Elephants got a decent upgrade but its still eh.. People are kind but not kind enough for this suffering. Its time to shut down zoos.
MoreFirstly its really good business so prepare some money if you want to go there, because theres a lot of thing that you can buy. Many animals, theres a kid zoo too, and they have elephants so thats big + from me buuuut they dont have giraffes so thats - from me. Its beautiful there and its in beautiful forest so its not that hot there.
MoreIts nice to see the place evolve. Each visit there is something new. The new area for elephants is looking great and we would definitely visit again. Too bad that the bird show was outside the zoo in different area.
MoreI used to love this Zoo. Unfortunately it has now turned into a tourist trap (the whole town of Bojnice has). Entrance fee of 8 Eur and they dont even inform you that there are currently no elephants present. Not worth eating there, the food is bang average and they charge you a small fee if you want your kids to play in the jumping area. If you want to park nearby, you need to pay €7 per day.A complete rip off.
MoreThis is one of the best zoos I have seen in Slovak Republic. They have over 540 species and 2400 animals in this zoo. Zoo is well organized and kept children safe and friendly. It is must see while you are visiting Bojnice Castle.
MoreThis Zoo has been going ever since I remember. Theres a lot of expositions to see and also a nice bit of tracking if youd like to see whole Zoo. Some pens are very outdated and looks like animals could use a little more room at times. Great for kids and family day out.
MoreTerrible experience for me. We have being waiting in line 2 hours (just to get in!!), there is no healthy food, only fast food (means fries and coke), they charge for WC 1€ at some places, which is more than at Hamburgs main station public toilets (we talk about biggest German city here!), parking lot costed 6€ and wasnt accessible for cars with lowered chassis. We parked at swiming pool area on the lawn driving down the broken hill. Terrible conditions for parking... And lastly my experience couldnt be worse when the WC inside the Zoo had only one functioning toilet, one for all those people that day.The only complain from above which could be omitted is the fact we had to wait such long period. We didnt know we came the only day the entrance was free due to International Environment Day.However, I believe there is billion things to improve here. Lets start with giving map of the Zoo areal at the entrance.
MoreSpaces far too small for the animals and felt like London Zoo in bad condition from the 1960s. Far too much concrete, wired cages and small spaces especially for the elephants, lions, porcupine and leopards. Very little evidence of enrichment for the animals. Really very sad to see. However, the deer and animals at the top of the hill had good space! Much room for improvement for animal welfare and happiness is needed.
MoreTypical zoo more nice than the bratislava zoo, long cue to buy ticket, there are 4 windows to buy only 2 opened.so with 2 kids wait 15minutes... Shame. Birds in cages not behind glass so you see very bad them. No sign or mark after you park car to easily find direction to zoo. Also they can make some map with lines to not finding the best way or give few options with time of the road and direction on the ground or walls or somehow so you can really rest your head and enjoy free day.
MoreNice zoo, the food options are limited. You can see a lot of animals here.
Nice place, many differents animals
The zoo has grown a lot since I last visited, and has improved beautifully.Currently there is a temporary way in as they are in the process of building a new entrance area, but this takes nothing away from the great zoo. A great selection of animals including brown bears, lions, elephants, many doers, reptiles, insects, fish, a petting area. Lots of play areas for the kiddies, with plenty of places to get refreshments. Alongside the beautiful Bojnice Castle which is a breathtaking example of a castle.
MoreLarge area = good walk. Big number of animals + additional posters with info + special places for kids play (extra €and fast food. You can easily spend half day. Eg. after visiting the castle and before swimming pools.
MoreBeautiful place, lots of attractions too.well worth the money
Could be an excellent zoo but...It feels like some animals got to little space in their cages such as the elephants and the wolfes. Also the zoo needs to freshen up with some paint job here and there. Its quite a slope up if you want to see the entire zoo so put your best sneakers on!
MoreThe great overall is great. It is a great place for the family and friends to chill out. There are mostly birds butterfly and snakes. There domestic wolves and few donkey species from the area. There are lions leopards and elephants too. However the area are small for the animals in question. There us room for improvement to have bigger enclosures for bigger animals. There are toilets eating areas and disabled access too which us great. Hope this helps. Thank you
MoreWe visited the Zoo on the Monday morning, so small shops inside were closed (good for us with children). The animals were silent - they were near to us without any problems. Only a few visitors in the garden to lunch. Very good time for families.
MoreHuge dissatisfaction!!! Full of stupid "attractions" which totally distract from the primary aim of the visit. The prices are horrible, instead of making the space available for animal, everywhere is some stupidity!!! It may have been our last visit.
MoreI visit this place every year in summer. I live far away from this place but when I have chance to visit I will always go there . Big place you walk for hours there . A lot of animals I didn’t do much pictures but absolutely in love with this place it will stay forever in my heart . So special for me .
MoreA wonderful place to spend time for children and adults. Animals are clean, fed and taken care of well. A very big collection of birds, nice wild cats, bears, camels, funny monkeys and charming elephants. On Monday noon there were few families walking around. We enjoyed it immensely.
MoreReally interesting zoo, with key Slovakian species. Fair price & good signage for non Slovak speakers (English). Didnt give 4 or 5 stars as felt elephants werent in good shape and seemed quite distressed (I dont necessarily think it was the zoos fault but space may not be large enough & I expect elephants due to their massive complex brains are very hard to look after in captivity - if possible at all)
MoreI had been told that this zoo was good, but I still came in with low expectations... Big mistake! This place was wonderful! Some of the exhibits were a little depressing, but the variety and range of animals was super interesting. The kids had a great time and we spent almost a full day walking around there.
MoreAs i get older I feel a bit sorry for the animals in the cages. :-D BTW you can NOT by credit card at the entrance. We went to see the parrots but the pavilon was closed. No info before entering the zoo.
MoreGreat place to stop by and spend with kids. Definetly worth the visit, good for families.
MoreGiven what a small place Bojnice is, the zoo is pretty good. But there are still some bare cages 1960s style, which detracted somewhat from our enjoyment. And we are spoilt by zoos in places like Prague and Berlin. So is this a world class zoo? No. Is it worth visiting if youre in Bojnice? Yes - look out for the red pandas!
MoreGreat zoo and good place to visit with family.
Entry 5€ adult vstupné 5€ dospelyMany animals were tired because outside was 35°C
MoreGreat place to visit with your family. Has a very nice selection of animals, that are taken care of very well. The Zoo even participates in conservation efforts and release to wildlife programmes, which is a nice touch. Has plenty of attractions for children, if you want to take it slow, so they dont get annoyed quickly. Admission prices are fairly good. The whole location of the Zoo near a historical castle gives a wonderful touch and the outlook from the Zoo is simply gorgeous. Even though the Zoo may be somewhat on a steep hill, the whole area is wheelchair accessible.
MoreReally nice Zoo with most of the animals you expect to find. My son loved it. It has got quite few kids attractions so a great place for kids.Couple negatives though, the elephants looked unhappy and the eagle struggled to fly in the tiny enclosure!
MoreVery nice zoo with great views and animals! Playing bear, little monkeys, lyons...
MoreThe zoo is very nice specialy for family with kids. It is very big and it has a lot of interesting animals. You can spent 4 to 5 hours there even more. There is a food corner as well.
MoreAlthough the enclosures look small. The Animals look really healthy. It get 5 stars because they have a rescue and release back into the wild programme. The the cost to enter the Zoo is only €5 and under 4s go free. Its on a beautiful setting beside a amazing castle, there are play and picnics areas every where. You will need cause there is a lot of walking up hill. Personally I love it, hope to return again very soon.
MoreMuch bigger than what I thought. Lots to see for kids.
Next to Bojnice Zoo you can spend a great day visiting both places making a break to have a (very cheapsnack or have meal in the way to the entrance!
MoreGreat day out for family
One of the most beautiful ZOOs in Slovakia. There are many beautiful animals.
The nicest zoo in Slovakia so far that Ive been to. Very organized, clean with lots of attractions beside exhibits. Highly recommended!
MoreLoved it as a kid. Love it now. For me its best Zoo in Slovakia. Big minus is parking, which isnt done well. But zoo itself is awesome. Many types of animals. Also the kid zoo, where you can feed goat and like so.
More+ lovely area+ great for parents with small children+ entertainment for children while you want to have a drink or fast snack+ it seems to be work in progress - it means things are improving- parking- staff no seen while some visitor provoked animals in enclosureSuggestion: visible staff, who can answer visitors questions and pacify misbehaved people
