Nancy Hands Bar & Restaurant - Gastropub in Dublin, Ireland
Nancy Hands Bar & Restaurant in Dublin
Description
Had a free drink, included in our big bus ticket. Was traditional and welcoming
Great food and nice atmosphere, good location for eating and drinking with a group.
MoreFantastic gastro bar, stunning Victorian decor. Beautiful Dublin bar down stairs and a breathtaking upstairs has to be seen. Delicious food and exceptional range of drink on offer, only topped by wonderful staff and great service. You can speculate the origins of its name, but it is a famous well known bar and well worth a visit.
MoreBeautiful place with a great Irish vibe. The burgers are amazing.
A surprisingly large place with plenty of seating. Typical pub style food but it was pretty tasty. Only a few beers on tap but overall it was a nice experience.
MoreGood traditional food like Bacon and Cabbage. Walking distance from Hueston Station. Traditional decor, lots of wood panelling.
MoreService was great. Cool atmosphere, but don’t come here if you’re gluten free. I have celiac and their website shows a full gluten free menu with lots of options but when we went and sat down the only gluten free item on the menu was nachos. We asked the server for the gluten free menu and he just looked confused and said they don’t have one.
MoreGosh, I didnt know this great place existed as it is my type of pub. Great atmosphere, clean throughout. Friendly and attractive service. Well priced, good black stuff. Will be back. 👍
MoreGreat night with my wife, food was spot on if not more, waitress was professional and engaging but in a cozy welcoming way. Ive been eating and drinking on and off in Nancys for 20 odd yrs and Im delighted I still am.Thanks Dominic and Staff *****
MoreClassic Irish pub, bartender Fran was incredibly knowledgeable and had good advice on exploring the city. Highly recommend.
MoreGreat ambience of an era gone bye. Great food! The staff was always busy and our waitres was helpful describing the menu!
MoreAlthough extremely busy with Tourist traffic, I was seated quickly and service was above the quality of other places in this road. Food was excelently prepared and tasted wonderful. My very minor negatives were that the staff didnt intoduce themselves, and that the awesome Seafood Chowder was served with a sweet bread (maybe just a personal preference, but sweet bread with a well mad chowder did not work for me).Definately worth a visit on your tour to Dublin.
MoreKatie was super friendly really helpful waitress very chatty and genuinely interested in her job which was fabulous 👌We hadKids mealfish and chipsChicken burger which were all perfect and tasty. But unfortunately the bacon and cabbage which my dad had, he could only eat the potatoes as he found the rest undercooked in his opinion. We never complained as everything was great apart from thatThere was also one bar guy that could maybe tone down his language when speaking to friends when small ears around 🤦♀️
MoreWhat a great place! The host was excellent, the staff was top notch, the food was very good, and the atmosphere was beyond words (my pictures arent enough to show how interesting this place is)!
MoreVery bad experience, tickets brought from BiG Bus 🚌 hop on. Advertising for free drink from them when you enter into Bar they say you need to top with 3euros 20cents. On top of this rude behaviour from owner. Never go back again and when you buying bus ticket from Big bus ask more information about free 🍺.Tricky advertising.
MoreBeef and ale pie, fish and chips, Caesar salad, kids chicken and chips, cheese burger and chips.Excellent food. I recommend the burger.Husband says thar the Caesar was one of the best he has eaten.Cold drinks.Kids food come first.Chatty barkeeps. There was a male waiter with dark (blackhair who was very friendly.Interesting signs on the wall.
MoreGreat food and drinks but above it all is atmosphere and the most welcoming owner of this place, who showed excellent Irish hospitality. This place has a great history and it shows in every single square centimeter of this establishment
MoreBeef & Guinness Pie was great, the Baileys Cheesecake was outstanding! The 3 pints of Guinness tasted like they we straight from the Brewery (just across the canal.. Highly recommend this truly Irish bar for any weary world traveller
MoreWe purchased tickets for the hop on hop off bus. While riding the first day, they told us it included a half pint of Guinness at Nancy Hands so we popped off for a quick drink, and I’m so glad we did. We traveled Ireland for 9 days and sampled a pint at each bar we went to, but this was hands down the best pint we had—so smooth with no bitterness. The serving staff was nice, and the bar was lovely — lots of unique details. Definitely stop in here for a drink!
MoreStaff was incredible and the atmosphere was amazing!! Definitely different from the typical tourist experience, it felt far more intimate. The food and drinks were incredible and not badly priced so I definitely recommend this place!!
MorePlace is understaffed. We never got our water. Man was asked to seat by the table next to us, which was never cleaned (and food was served to him in such conditions, took my apetite away). Female bathroom absolutely disgusting (tried to open the window, but then Id have needed to touch the huge spiderweb).
MoreWent to this restaurant for the first time and it took almost an hour to serve the food. The staffs were so partial with the service for the type of people and didn’t even bothered to check us. Even the food is not that great for which we regretted coming to this place. I would strongly suggest not to visit this place and waste your day !
MoreVisited this restaurant with my friends, and had a very unpleasant experience. We waited for more than an hour for our food to arrive. We had to check in more than twice with the waitress who was of no help at all. The chicken burger was completely charred and our water jug was not refilled.Absolutely disappointed with the service, no value for the money we paid and would not recommend this place.
MoreWe found this place by accident, very very cozy, great service, a beautiful space very well decorated, price within the average for places like this. a good experience!
MoreI was very excited about travelling to Ireland. Alongside my group, we chose Nancys as our first establishment due to the influx of high quality reviews.Unfortunately, these reviews did not accurately depict the service that greatly needs to improve at this location.Although my food was really good, my party was not properly served. We had multiple people waiting for their food, only for the bus boy to say that we had never ordered our food in the first place. This was after a 45 minute wait where we were not even served water...The bus boy lied. All of us ordered our food at the same time and since it was almost closing time for the kitchen, the bar did not want to finish making our food. They made up this entire lie. They took our order and then lied about it.Then, their manager covered for the bus boy by creating new lies. This bar was an insult to our entire party and the manager chose to insult us instead of listening to us.I wish things would have went differently because the place itself looks really nice, but the management did not even want to listen to our plight and unfortunately it soured our experience. There were much better places in Dublin, which I would instantly recommend over this one.
MoreReally friendly service team and a nice atmosphere in the pub. We got a family of drinks - Mummy, Daddy and Baby Guinness whilst watching the hurling. Thanks for the welcome!
MoreFast, helpful and very friendly service. The roast of the day was delicious.Cheap pints, about 5.70.
MoreThe tempura battered fish is THE BEST battered fish I have ever had!The portions are also amazing (as a hungry traveller today ).The only fault I have is the menus need to be printed out daily. Its a little off putting when they are a little dirty. The staff are friendly and efficient.Well done guys and gals! All in all a fabulous experience
MoreNancy Hands was a really nice place! The staff was very friendly, the food was delicious as I got fish and chips, and the atmosphere was really neat. If you are ever in the area, I definitely recommend eating here. It was a little walk to get there from where we were staying but it was well worth it!
Morecharming historic pub with excellent service, great food, lots of fun
Within walking distance from the Ashling Hotel, this is a warm and cozy place to sit and visit or just relax after a long day of walking. Two floors offer ample seating inside, including a long bar, and there are a few tables outside as well. This place offers a few classic Irish dishes and an eclectic variety of other dishes too. We tried the daily soup special of Califlower and Cheese Soup, which was creamy and delicious.
MoreFood was delicious, was our first time eating something local in Dublin. The Guinness stew was super good, the mashed potatoes and sausage too.For me it was expensive though, but its the standard prices in Dublin so no big deal.If you want to eat food in a classic Irish pub this is a good option, also really close to the phoenix park! The food was quick and the staff was friendly.
MoreGreat experience at Nancy Hands Bar.I visited here on a Saturday night with some friends. Id booked before to ensure that we had a table which I would definitely suggest as every other table was taken when we arrived. The pub is a traditional Irish style pub with all sorted of decorations, a front "pub" area with a tv and a back "restaurant" area for dining. The food we had at the pub was also really nice. We got fish and chips which was an enormous portion of food! There were 3 filets of fish on top of a mountain of chunky chips and everything was great. It was a little too much food for me - but very good value for money especially if you arrive starving. Our group also got the fried chicken burger which I didnt get to try but did look fantastic. They also offer a kids menu, which included french fries instead of chunky chips and the kids were really happy with their meals. The kids portions were also very generous - so no one likely to hungry on that side either. They only had 1 highchair which wasnt in the best condition (the straps were broken - otherwise finewhich is worth considering if you are planning on bringing a small child. The service was good and the staff were friendly and really helped to make our visit easy.
MoreI walked in with my family yesterday to an acknowledged hello by all staff members. Sat down & got menus handed to us, staff came over joking about how long they left us waiting (they didnt leave us waitingordered dinner & I think Gordon Ramsay secretly works in the kitchen of this place because the food was out of this world, we all got something different & everyones everything was 10/10.Great spot, great staff, family still all talking about the dinner we got yesterday today. Thanks you having us & being brilliant at your jobs.
MoreWhen being told that you get free Guinness it is a small taster with the Hop on Hop Off bus service, which is not the problem...the problem is the the attitude change when asking about the drink. We saw an immediate attitude change from the bar tender with the glasses and then when it was served by the dude with the platted beard who messed the beer on the the table, made no eye contact and left us for the rest of the time. We wanted to order food but decided against it. Nobody even asked about the kids
MoreAmazing experience and fabulous owner/manager. The service was wonderful and made us feel welcomed and at home
MoreI love this place. Very cozy and friendly. Traditional, Victorian, historic looking place with good food and drinks. Foods could be seemed a bit pricey regarding its not in the centre centre of town.. but I enjoyed it!
MoreNice pub, food was good and quite big portions.
Delicious food. Great service. Fun atmosphere and authentic Irish pub style. Absolutely worth the visit.
MoreA total amazing experience to be in one of the oldest Irish pubs with people singing to live music and having a fun time. Aiden the manager was so nice to us and the food was amazing. Cheers
MoreVery nice bar...went in there because if the free Guinness the Big Bus Hop.on Hop off had to offer but it was a tiny free glass ...spend 2 euros and you get a whole pint...cheapest pint of Guinness in town. The ambience was nice too.
MoreReally cool place .Good food and of course probably the fresh and more out of the barrel Guinness beer youll have outside the Guinness factory haha since its across the street from it.Ask someone about the history behind the name and the place and enjoy a good time.
MoreDelicious Irish fare, friendly staff, loaded bar and beautiful atmosphere - not to be missed if youre looking for a wonderful dining experience in Dublin. Near Heuston Station, great location thats easy to access via public transport. We enjoyed ourselves and would highly recommend it!
More[ Visiting from Scotland] Lovely Irish pub, great staff nice wee corner oot the back too which youll share with some frogs
MoreWhew! This place hits all my checks!! The people were so nice, and so welcoming. They were kid friendly, and there was so much history in that building! The owner is happy to tell you the whole story of Nancy Hand! Of course the fish and chips and the Texas BBQ wings were great! And my wife being from Texas gave their BBQ sauce a 10 out of 10. If you know Texans thats a big deal! Definitely dont miss this place!
MoreA great spot to stop for a late night bite and drinks! Also great if youve just finished strolling around Phoenix Park, which is just down the street. It has a spacious and strikingly beautiful Victorian interior, a quality menu, and a huge variety of beverages. Enjoy viewing many artifacts on display of Dublin/Irish icons and along the walls youll notice an extensive collection of Guinness antiques that chronicle the story of the brands advertising. The staircase was once housed in Trinity College and featured in the movie ‘Educating Rita’ with Mr Michael Caine.
MoreThis was part of the big bus tour, free half(ishpint of Guinness. The food was ok. Staff were friendly but struggled to look after tables. Wasnt very busy at the time.
MoreIve eaten in a lot of places and I have to say, hands down this is pound for pound the best place to eat in Dublin City. The food is phenomenal, the staff are fantastic and the decor is steeped in History and full of gems and features a Victorian bar and the Original staircase from trinity CollegeIts situated right next to the Phoenix park so its a great way for weekend lunch or early dinner. The decoration at Christmas are really cool, so make sure you bring the kids along.
MoreWe wound up eating here two nights in a row - the food was incredibly delicious, good variety of drinks, and the atmosphere is beautiful. I really love all the woodwork! To top it off, the servers and bartenders were all incredibly nice and friendly. One even helped me out with a tough question about unique gifts to bring home. I would happily be eating here again tonight if I wasnt hopping back across the pond today. :(
MoreReally enjoyed my trip to Nancy Hands! I was there as a part of a corporate trip. In addition to dinner we had a Guinness Bread and Irish Coffee making demonstrations, live music, and Irish dancing. I enjoyed the fish and chips and the local Irish Pale Ale. Id definitely visit again!
