Budapest, Ördögárok u. 80, 1029 Hungary, Budapest II. kerület
Converted 17th-century farmhouse with vintage wood furnishings for homely local dishes, plus garden.
Very friendly staff. Food was really good. Reason for loosing one start is due to the prices they change compared to other similar restaurants.
Old traditional good local restaurant. Despite all these I believe it is a bit overrated and overpriced. The soups , schnitzel and the lamb arm for 2 are nice, Be carefull it is generally booked
What a jewel! Real Hungarian food, tasty and served by friendly, smiling waiters. Better book as they are VERY busy. This is one place we will visit often for sure!!!
I dont think the prices are a justifiable. Túrós csusza for 4thousand? Otherwise its not bad, but way too expensive
If you would like to taste a bit of Hungary, this is your place
Great food & Nice place,dogs are welcome👍
Absolutely delightful. Lovely terrace away from the bustle of central Budapest. The food was exceptional. The service was just right. Well worth the trip.
The price is very expensive! We had booked but still let us sit in the garden on a rainy day. Food was not very tasty. Very far from Budapest. I do not recommend this restaurant
A very moody place with nice Hungarian food :)
Worth the trip out of town. The food was amazing and the staff kind and helpful. The menu was clearly marked with gluten-free and dairy-free options. There is also a play area for children.
Traditional Hungarian food in a beautiful neighbourhood out of the hectic centre of Budapest. In summer there is a lot of space outside. Food is good and service as well. Great for larger groups.
The restaurant Náncsi néni has a wonderfully managed traditional Hungarian kitchen. It is an outstanding experience and it is highly recommended.
Very tasty Hungarian fare with very friendly staff. Well worth another visit.
Traditional Hungarian cousin. Hearthfull and enjoyable food, but very pricey. The service was nice, but did not know everything about the food, which was a bit problematic due to dietary restrictions.
If you want authentic hungarian food with large portion sizes, a friendly atmosphere with friendly staff, this is the place to go. It my be a ways away from the city but the taxi drive is easily worth it.
A wonderful village type hungatian experience with a playground for the kids. Beautifully prepared food. Must try.
Just came back, went there based on FB group recommendation and had one of the worst experiences here in Budapest where I reside last 6yrs +. Hospitality of few employees non existent, example (its nothing new for us that waiters in BP can be rude, bitter or zero flexible, but you get used to itterrace during lunchtime one third full (and it stayed like this during whole lunchbut young lady in charge refused any our attempt to sit there but giving us option of going inside where weve been only guests because biggest asset of this restaurant is terrace. Immediately we felt unwelcome but ok since were here lets try the food and that was big mistake, instant mashed potatoes, chicken stew tasted like they mixed paprika powder with water, really below average, any lunch canteen provides much better food and not overpriced like here plus mandatory tip cca 10% and for what?? Avoid it
Original Hungarian and fine dining food. Live music with tango accordion. Authentic place.
It is far from what it used to be. The fish soup was luke-warm, so was the grilled fish, with sloppy vegetables. The “madártej” was delicious.
Just amazing food. If you want the real Hungarian experience this is the place to visit. Food is excellent and you should go for their gulasch as a starter, its delicious plus you get a lot.
Went for Sunday lunch. On a summers afternoon this place is perfect. Seating is covered by a large canopy which allows you to enjoy al fresco dining without worrying about burning up in the sunshine. The service is impeccable, friendly and efficient. The food is great if you want to enjoy the best of Hungarian cuisine. Too many delicious dishes to mention but everything is good from starters, main couse to the dessert. Make sure you are hungry before going as the portions are generous and you should try all courses to get the most out of your dining experience.
Amazing food and quick service! The waiter even offered alternatives for the children menu to make sure we were happy. The portions are very big, so make sure you come hungry! 😁
Bit disappointed on the food quality. Meat soup was below average. Pasta with cottage cheese was so dry, that we couldnt eat it. Fried fish was very good. Service was very-very good.
Great place for Sunday’s lunch with kids.
Great service and good staff . The food was great and the quantity was really generous .
If you want to eat here make a reservation as they are quite popular. The portions are large and the food tasty. They even have an outdoor playground area for kids. And they are dog friendly.
Food was excellent, but the service was terrible. Our main waiter did not look at all happy to see us and we barely had time to sit down before being asked what we wanted to eat and drink. We asked for time to look at the menu and the waiter returned less than a few minutes later asking what we wanted. They hovered close by so we felt pressured to quickly make our decision without having a relaxing evening meal. One of us was still eating and we were asked if we had finished our meal when this clearly wasnt the case.We felt as if our waiter couldnt wait to get rid of us which was a shame because we had read such good reviews and had made the trip out of our way to eat here.
I used to come here quite a lot. Waiters are usually professional, very attentive. However, price-to-quality ratio seems to have declined in the past year or so, more than what is warranted by surging inflation. Portions are still formidable (meat dishes still fill you up), but signs of decline appeared. For instance, the goulash soup became quite “rare” in ingredients, or my lunch guest complained that the chicken was tasteless. They don’t charge service fee, however, it seems to be implicitly included in the prices. I’m looking forward to a better experience!
Been here about 5 times. I really dont get what the fuss is about this place. I mean its okay. Just because the place is old doesnt mean its good. Maybe its old because there was simply no other family restaurant around it for a long time.Theres one meal I really like (turkey with berry sauce!but other ones are just okay. The service is okay. The vibe is okay. Everything is okay.Maybe next time I visit I might make a different judgment. But personally, for now, its very average.
Traditional Hungarian food house, 10 points!
This lovely place offers you an amazing service, lovely food in a very pleasant, authentic environment. The prices are absolutely adequate, I would recommend it to anyone.
They have around double price of an average restaurant, but the quality is higher too. They really know how to cook. Staff is professional and nice above expectation.
Great restaurant in outskirts of Budapest. With traditional Hungarian dishes. Very popular.
We came here 8 or nine years ago. For me its still the best restaurant in Budapest.
Mid of November, Saturday noon. Restaurant is full of guests. The service is excellent, polite and quick. Currently there are goose days. The food is extraordinary, the soup is tasty and hot, the main dish is freshly prepared. They are willing to serve half portions from foods. I recommend the restaurant everyone who likes ambient environment, good service and foods. I would give them 10 stars although there are 5 of them only.
Well. As I have heard amazing things of the restaurant it was a bit of disappointment. Food is nice, staff is nice but I did not feel that extra what I expected. Anyway if you want traditional food it is worth a try. Parking is okay. Lamb and duck liver is recommended, not impressed with the meat soup.
We really enjoyed our dinner in the shady garden of Náncsi Nénis. My fish soup was tasty and plentiful, my friend loved the Sunday chicken soup (even though it was a Tuesdayand I had the biggest Sweet cottage cheese dumpling in the history of Sweet cottage cheese dumplings, which was incredibly light in spite of its dimensions!!
If you like to try traditional Hungarian cuisine, you must try it. It is located in the suburb of Budapest. The garden area is really nice place to sit outside from spring till end of the Indian summer. Public transport stops at the nearby, parking can be sometimes challenging. The foods are great and huge portions, the service is fast and polite.
Nice atmosphere in an outdoor garden. Reasonable prices and excellent stuff.Mouthwatering lamb shoulder with potatoes pure. You can also pay with Szép card :)
Great traditional food in a nice neighborhood outside the city. The service could be a little better, though. The prices are not low, but the portion sizes are really big.
Fantastic authentic Hungarian food, and a nice and cosy place, weather was good so we dined in the rather large garden. Its a bit of a travel from the city, but it can be managed with public transport or a taxi (App. Huf 4000 in 2020 to Blaha Lujza tér)
I have been here a couple of times, and it is still a great place to eat. One of the best meals I have ever had was the slow cooked rooster. It is a huge meal, but managable, and once you start it eating, you cannot stop. Make sure to have some cucumber salad with it!
Best traditional hungarian restaurant on the Buda side. Live music from 7 to 10 pm. Great food and cozy place.
Lovely cozy indoor and large outdoor garden uder the trees seating, Fab genuine friendly service and honest Hungarian food. Even after 20 years still one of my most favorite places.
One of the best places in Budapest😍✌🏻Although we couldn’t park the car near the restaurant, and it is really far away from the city, I recommend it for everyone to eat here.
Very cosy place, authentic Hungarian cuisine, tasty soup, especially the chicken soup. Large portions!
The best traditional restaurant in Budapest. Great food, very good wine selection, excellent service. Not very pricey. Recommended for families with young children.
Traditional Hungarian food, tasty, copious, friendly staff, awesome terrace with playground, fair prices. We will definitely be back there also with guests.
Excellent Hungarian food! Enclosed kids playground for hour of play and enjoyment
I love Náncsi Nénis family atmosphere, like you are visiting grandma and she cooks something yummy every time. Im not Hungarian but heres where I discover the best of traditional Hungarian food. Try their chocolate soufflé for dessert. Youll love it.
