Nanam Eatery - Tapas restaurant in Auckland, New Zealand
Plates are well presented, tasty food. Friendly and helpful staff. A bit over priced, but worth it. For starters we wanted the grilled octopus and pork and it was unavailable that day… We had fish ceviche and wagyu sausage instead. Very nice dishes! Over all, it’s a nice place to try Filipino food.
Ate here with friends, wonderful atmosphere, fantastic service, delicious food! Everyone left happy. Great mix of meaty and vege options, with lots of flavour
We walked in with no reservation and were greeted very nicely. Although the kitchen had stopped serving main menu dishes, they still accommodated us. The food was extrodernary, very kind and fun staff, explained each dish when it arrived and amazing service. We will definitely be going back and 100% recommended ! Thank you :)
First time dining here and we absolutely loved it. The Wagyu sausage was the highlight. Very welcoming, lovely decor, great food and we had a wonderful dining experience.
Place was buzzing when we came, lovely and tasteful decor.CreatIve, tender and delightful morsels we had at our dinner. Most tender octopus I’ve ever had. The fish and lechon were moist and tasty. Accompaniments that came with dishes were spot on like the picked onion with the grilled octopus and the caramelised leeks and onion with the fish. Sweet and sour taste were fairly evident in the dishes. Patient and welcoming Jess gave us some insights about the food. Hats off to these Filipino chefs who come up with these modern innovative twist to the traditional Filipino cuisine. Definitely recommended.
As a Filo, dishes arent filo authentic but still enjoyed fusion flavor. A menu any ethnicity would appreciate.Location and ambient more welcoming compared to their previous.(Royal Oak). Parking might be an issue during peak.Visit restaurant at least 5 times. Prices still fairly reasonable. Staff are nice and knows there menu well in regards to portion, ingredients and servings.Would dine in again at least once a year.
What a fantastic restaurant.Great non generic beers, loads of cocktails, etc.food was amazing. Wow.Excellent ambiance, very well presented.
Lovely dinner with family and friends! Came to try this place for some Filipino food. It did not fail us. We had a reservation and table all set when we came in. Lady staff was informative and welcoming. Indeed a fancy and pricey restaurant but worth it. Their pork belly, longganiza, ceviche were popular. The so-called banana turon was a bomb. Downside, parking but will be back.
Vegan filipino food is a delicious oxymoron
Absolutely incredible food! Served and cooked by the warm and friendly owners. The lunch set menu was amazing value and utterly delicious. Drop what you are doing and book now.
Amazing dessert. Recommend the Halo Halo for the ube mousse within.
Great ambiance, staff was helpful & informative. A surprising touch of loincloth were on every chair. Sinigang and Wagyu Longganisa were our favourite dish! This is a different take on Filipino cuisine that never have I thought I would enjoy.
Tasty food, service not bad and cool ambiance
Food tasted amazing.Customer service was fantastic too, did not have long wait time at all for the food, and it was a busy Saturday night.
Went here for dinner tonight, food was good, atmosphere was good, staff was good, food safety was really not good. The bartender was smashing a bag of supermarket ice by throwing it onto the FLOOR repeatedly before placing the entire bag, which was on the FLOOR, INSIDE the ice trough, and emptying it into the ice trough for use in drinks.I used to work in hospo and I know for a fact those bags have holes all over them from the hard ice tearing and crushing through when theyre stacked and stored. They are not sealed or water tight, nor are they designed to be. Things that touch the outside of the bag almost always contaminate the ice inside through small holes and tears all over.Shoes stand in bathrooms, sidewalks, gym floors, all manner of disgusting surfaces. And this guy was throwing the ice he was putting in all the drinks onto the floor repeatedly. Really really disgusting. The bartender did this in front of multiple staff members and no one batted an eye or said anything which was even more concerning. Not a good look. Wont be coming back.
Good sizes of foods ,the wagwu longganisa was so good! but the mushroom sisig was disappointing, pointless and confusing. I think they should remove it in the menu. The staff could have been more attentive as they didn’t give us water until half way through our meal. Overall it’s a good dining experience.
Great service, great drinks and the food was absolutely incredible. Would highly recommend the Tapas plates. Would recommend 4/5 tapas plates for 2 people sharing 🎉I cant wait to go back and try the rest of the menu!
the photo doesn’t give justice as they have a yellow light but I love ambiance of this resto and the homeeeey feels. Will definitely come back for the red bao, tacos and the steak. The Lechon- We love the sahog as it was mashed. crispy on the outside, juicy on the insideThe taho is a modernised one, but def will a try
I loved everything about Nanam: the dishes’ perfect flavours and delicate balance; the warm and relaxed atmos plus friendly service. This time, a big thumbs up to the refreshing papaya and crab salad, pork meatballs special, and pan fried monkfish on leek and savoy cabbage — made me think of pickled mustard greens! Made me want to rush out and create something yum from my childhood! ❤️
Really liked it, first time there, nice atmosphere very friendly staff.I had the pork knuckle, my friend had the pork belly, my other friend had the ChickenFood cooked very well and the taste was excellent, pork belly portion to small for what you paid, needed something with it. Pork Belly was just a nice size but definitely needed some with it. The Chicken dish was a fair portion and value for money.A little pricey for what you get but acceptable once you get to $35 to $36 for a main plus any extras makes it on the high side.We would go back
Excellent experience overall, four of us for dinner on a Thursday evening. The most attentive and engaging service, food was so fresh and tasty! We will definitely be back.
Lovely venue, easy parking. We chose the tapas grande menu. Half the dishes were substituted. Unfortunately, we were not told this would happen before or during the evening. The substitutions were not improvements, so I advise that you ask before ordering . Overall, this was not value for money.
Pretty creative fusion of Filipino flavors and dishes with NZ fresh and local ingredients. The ceviche is close to the taste of kinilaw back home. Give the calamansi margarita and cacao tres leches a try!
Everything was so delicious. As much as we like pork, the beef was very good. Well balanced flavours.
Custard tarts in ube and coconut options. The BEST thing ever! Slightly larger than your average custard tart. The flaky pastry tended to the soft rather than hard. The flavors are the star - unique and well executed. The textural contrast of both coconut pieces and smooth coconut paste in the base was also a highlight for me. Highly recommended.
Perfection! We ordered 5 tapas to share, which arrived in a steady flow. I appreciated the way they served the gentler flavours first, moving to spicier dishes toward the end. Each one a taste sensation. Pork in beetroot bao buns my top pick. Thank you team. Great to are you open again.
Early dinner on a freezing Tuesday night. We were wowed by the sumptuous food we ordered and good service. We will be back and surely recommend this to our friends.
Love their food. We actually prefer their sides more than main. Good for sharing, portion was pretty good as well.
Came here a few weeks ago with my partner, we tried a few tapas such as:Lamb "Adobo" Croquetas; so earthy and warm! Give them a go even if you are a "no lamb" person."Sardinas"; they were really good but nothing out of this world, i could say that this one was my less favourite of the tapas.Wagyu sausage "Longganisa", this one was my favourite, its served with some kind of chipotle mayo in a soft tortilla that you can just roll it up or fold it and eat it as a kind of taco, the longganisa was so good that is hard to describe, so many layers of flavour and so tender!."Kinilaw" tuna ceviche; another beautifull tapa, fresh, bright and kind of creamy, not as spiced as a peruvian ceviche but really well balanced.TacoPao; Served with all the ingredients in separate small bowls so you can build your prefered "bao", the beetroot buns were warm and soft and the sticky pork belly was superb, but it falls behind the amazing Longganisa or the Lamb Adobo Croquetas. We wanted to order a main but that tapas were more than enough and we ended up ordering some desserts.Mais at queso; i could totally come back just for this dessert, sweet corn ice cream? Really? Yes! As weird as it sounds it was AMAZING! It perfectly match with the pastry and the dulce the leche! We also ordered a "Halo Halo", a kind of ice shaved dessert with fresh fruits and ube mousse but it wasnt as good as the Mais at queso in my opinion. The staff was super friendly all the time, i think the name of the waiter was Don and the waitress/manager was Jess o think, big thumbs up for them! We will totally come back!
Simply outstanding food and service. Had been once before with my partner just prior to the Covid-19 lockdown, and going back there again highlighted what a great decision that was. Highly, highly recommended!
Surprisingly good. First time trying Filipino food and it’s impressive. Ordered two tapas curry and eggplant, each tastes unique and refreshing, ordered rice to go with the curry, a special aroma in the rice so I finished everything couldn’t any bits in the plate. Have no space for dessert will try next time as it sounds interesting from the menu. Highly recommend to anyone who wants to try the unique Asian taste and fusion. Added as one of my favourite spot.
Ambience here is great, and the food is tasty. It is a fusion style restaurant so for people looking for that super traditional Filipino flavour and dining experience, this may not necessarily be what you’re looking for. Having said that, some of the dishes are amazing! The longganisa is out of this world, I really need to go back for more. Also with regards to the service, each time we’ve been here, the service has been great. Extremely friendly and helpful staff. I’d definitely return here again, and really hope whoever is reading this, you consider trying it out. Like I said, the longganisa is a must order!
Awesome awesome food. One of the best in Auckland and I have been to a few. Priced similarly to places like the Depot with a much pleasanter service experience.
This could be the best restaurant in New Zealand, Id give it seven stars if I could. We ordered a few tapas dishes and some drinks, and we were phenomenally impressed. Our top two dishes were the BBQ tofu and the award winning sausage.
A beautifully decorated, award winning Pinoy fusion restaurant along Takapuna. We were surprised by the unexpected gustatory experience from the chef/owners of the place! We especially love the kick from the spicy octopus with green curry, the refreshing taste of the roasted chicken sinigang, and the heavenly turon with coconut ice cream. We also love the fish of the day, caldereta and prawn salad. Kudos to the manager and waiting staff for being kind and attentive. We wanted to order all items from the menu! The only downside may be the long waiting time (30-40 minsbut the taste is definitely worth it. Great for dining with friends and families.
Great ambience! Service and food both very good. The pork belly was a bit tough, but the duck and the beef were beautifully cooked. Their deserts were amazing, but the Halo-halo had noticeably shrunk in portion.
First time Philippine cuisine. Big wow if it’s all like this - seems to be a fusion of Thai and Spanish Tapas. Definitely put on you must do list if you like something a little different and want to be impressed. Staff were great, and ambience lively.$15 kids menu is a plus.
We ate from their tapas menu which had a decent selection for a variety of preferences. The food was delicious, well presented and quick to arrive. The staff was very friendly and attentive without hovering over your shoulder.Great experience, I would happily recommend.
First time coming to this restaurant. It is not exactly authentic pinoy style food but is more fusion with western. Out of the dishes I ordered I highly highly recommend getting the taco pao. However, the crispy pork hock seemed more hard than crispy. Overall the food was good and left us wanting more.
Very tasty and unique fusion Phillipino food with nice casual hip atmosphere and sometimes live music. Used to be located at 3 Kings, this new restaurant has lots of improvements and nicer vibe.
great filipino fusion food - rich in flavour and good presentation. main dishes are good for sharing. with displays and furnitures that came from and was made in philippines, it offers a peaceful atmosphere with a modern look. must try whenever you go at takapuna.
If youre looking for unique tastes and menu options, definitely stop by. We didnt have reservations on a Tuesday because it was pretty empty when we came by, but they did ask us if we did as if its usually required? We wanted to sit outside under the awning as they had a fire heat lamp. The wagyu sausage taco tapas are beyond amazing; just order 4 of those haha. But then again, the pork hock also had an incredibly different flavour while half of it was the best pork crackling. While they dont really have any beer selection other than a couple, they do have an interesting cocktail menu.
Ive never eaten something so good! Its Filipino food to the next level! We got the Chefs recommendation. Were surprised there was no rice but it didnt need rice at all. We were so full by the end of the course meal. The dessert was the highlight!
Soooo delicious! They take Filipino cuisine and add in their own twist to them which I thought was very interesting. The ambience was really nice - having live music and their decor on point. The staff were also very nice and had great service. No wonder they are in Auckland top 50 restaurants list.
Great ambiance and staff, the food is a cool twist on traditional Filipino cuisine. If youre looking for great tasting food thats out of the ordinary then this is a really good place to go to.
Visited the large Takapuna restaurant after having first visited the intimate Royal Oak one a year ago. Perfect for group or date night dinners. Good atmosphere. Delicious fine meals! Recommend the beetroot bao and parfait. Great service!
Great place to have great food. The restaurant is very nice too with good decoration and VIP area. Food was amazing!
After 5 unsuccessful attempts to visit Nanam, we finally got to go for dinner and enjoy the wonderful warm hospitality and exquisite Phillipino cuisine at its best. I loved every dish we ordered and eagerly look forward to trying more of their menu. Excellent ambience, food, service accompanied with a live musical entertainer.
Consistently great - Ive dined at Nanam four times and have always left more than satisfied. Its difficult getting a table, even on weeknights, but it really is a testament to the quality of the food. My favourite dishes are the tacopao (the beetroot steamed buns are perfect and the condiments work well togetherand the roast chicken sinigang (succulent meat and amazing flavours). With that said, all of the dishes are delightful!
We were there as a party of four, tried a few options and they were ALL amazing! Service was great too, every staff member was genuinely nice, informative, and attentive. 3 entrees, 4 mains, and 4 cocktails cost around 200 in total, price is very reasonable too with fairly generous serving portions. Will definitely go back!
