Great place for adults and kids and science-driven folks. There are many activities and machines to operate, so time flies fast. We spent 4hours and didnt feel a thing. Take your time to enjoy a planetarium show.

Top notch and informative science museum located in Nagoya. While we were there, we wanted to find some activities for our children and decided upon this science museum.Large size exhibits could be found outside the building and there were many levels to this science museum. The kids had a wonderful learning experience when they were there. Recommended for family with kids. Can spend a good 3-4 hours there.

Nice place for science lovers and good for children especially elementary grades. The outside structure of the building is so unique. Its very popular for tourists and foreigners but very disappointed because there were no English translations everything were in Japanese. I will give 3 stars because of no English translations

Very recommended place to spend a day in Nagoya. It is not your "common-just-see" museum, but this museum is very interactive. If you love science, then youll have a good time learn all basic concept, and if you are just three years old kids, youll be happy explore everything here.

The first time I went here, Im expecting that I will learn a lot about science and technology. Yeah, I learn a bit (because I know some japaneseand experienced all the interactive displays they have inside. But It would be a solid experience if all of the displays inside have an english translation or even a qr code that will direct us to a specific website explaining everything about the things inside. If Im a foreigner with 0 japanese, I would not recommend it since everything in this building is in Japanese. Also, you can avail a discount for the tickets if you have a one day pass or weekend pass. They dont accept any other payment method except from cash and commuter pass which is surprising for a science museum. (You know credit card payments and other mobile payments😂

Awesome museum with a focus on kids and interactive exhibits. There are six floors (plus a basement for traveling exhibitsthat will keep you entertained for hours. The planetarium is impressive but definitely focuses on teaching as opposed to entertaining, and the presentation is entirely in Japanese. My wife and I found it interesting and could follow along well enough, but my kids were bored and lost interest quickly.

We went on a weekend so we expected large crowds with families. There are several ticket combinations for your preference (museum+planetarium+special exhibit, museum + planetarium, only special exhibit etcThe displays were interactive and informative but all in Japanese. Hopefully in the future they will add translations or multilingual headphones. There is only one restaurant in a separate building on the ground floor. Best to bring your own food and eat it in the lounge areas or the park just outside. Your ticket allows for re-entry.

This is a must see. If youre a lover of the sciences like myself, you wont regret making a visit here. The planetarium will definitely send you to sleep. Not because of boredom, but imagine relaxing under a beautifully arrayed night sky, with all its hosts in action. Yeah, I fell asleep twice🤭😄.Its definitely worth every penny I paid.

One thing I enjoy most as a a tourist is aquariums and science museums and this science museum is well worth the stop. It is a huge place that offers a lot of exhibits and educational enlightenment. You will not be disappointed if you come and if you have children, 100% you need to stop by.There is a lot to look at with many floors to keep you busy. You will absolutely spend a lot of time here and enjoy every moment of it. Just stop by and enjoy the museum.

The museum is interactive. It was my first time since I was little to get to enjoy such a thing. They have a tornado, a planetarium, a hamster wheel so you can power a water system. It is so much fun for everyone!I got 2 hours which couldnt see the whole thing but it was the best money I spent and it was like 6 dollars. I got the regular ticket. If you are looking to spend time before your Shinkansen departure, I believe this is a great place. They also have a sitting area with vending machines including ice cream. Science, games and ice cream! ☺️

Perfect to teach children science in a practical way. Many different things from engineering to physics and biology. If you have children a must go to with the interactive program. If you are an adult be aware that 90% of the people are children and it will get loud. There are many buttons and switches to try out, children love it. Which is why you will probably after an hour get a headache. The Exebinition of endangered species right now is awesome and sad at the same time. If you go now a must have.

My 5yr old loved it. She recently just learnt about space, so she was all about the planetarium. She doesnt speak Japanese(because the show is done only in Japanesebut she still marveled at everything. I, on the other hand, used the 50mins in the planetarium to sleep because I was tired trying to keep up with my child. We were in the museum for 5hours straight. It is an awesome family place

The Nagoya City Science Museum, at the center of Nagoya City in central Japan, can be easily recognized by its enormous silver globe, called Brother Earth, that appears to hang in the air, wedged between two buildings. The globe, which looks incredible from the outside, is home to the largest planetarium in the world!

Nice place to visit if you are in Nagoya. This place apparently has the worlds largest Planetarium. Got there at 11am and they were selling 2pm tuckets. I didnt think we would be there that long but ended up staying untill 3pm.Most exhibits seemed oriented towards primary and middle school students who can enter for free. High school students get a discount but student ID is required. There is an interesting exhibit where you can experience being in the Antarctic minus 30 plus degrees Celsius. Interesting to experience this in the middle of summer.

5,000 out of 5 stars.Astounding. To family, couples, and everyone! As you go up, the more intelligent the museum becomes. You have 5 floors and each have its unique value! No words will make you understand, just pay the entrance fee (pretty cheap, it was 400 yen when i bought itand have fun!I stayed here for 2 hours and could stay for even 2 more, but they had to close at 17:00...Make sure you come early!

Very cool, hands-on science museum. Lots to touch and test and read. Tons of kids running around and felt a little crowded at times. We went on a weekday. The largest planetarium in the world! (Guinness World RecordRemoved 1 star because the planetarium information is in Japanese only and conducted by a real person. Its 2019. They use apps and QR codes to translate the rest of the museum but they dont have the ability to make an automated synced multi-language audio track for the planetarium? At least it was a nice place to take a nap.

Great place to spend a couple of hours. The planetarium is on the top most floor.Biggest planetarium I have been to. Great show. Only downside is that it is a live show and that means only in Japanese. If you dont speak Japanese, you can just go and look at the pretty stars and it is still worth it.Every floor is a different kind of exhibits. You can spend a couple of hours there with your kids. Best thing everything is interactive and that keeps you engaged. You can download an app and translate everything to English.

This place is an excellent place for kids and even for adults. One day visit from opening to closing hours is enough to enjoy all the shows and visit every corner and try every activity they have. The color of stars show is very nice but is only available in Japanese. But if you have basic knowledge of the sun, stars, moon and the galaxy, it will just be common sense for you to grasp what it is all about. The activites offered are very interesting. And is useful to students. Parents are must accompany the children and explain everything in the museum to maximize the knowledge the children will get. Overall, it was a wonderful experience. I recommend this place specially to those who are homeschooling. Toilets are everywhere and are clean. Outside the museum is a park with a small playground that is very nice for children. Worth visiting. 👌

Fantastic place to learn about science from all areas and fields. Many interactive activities where you can see the science happen. There is also a show showcasing observatory findings. However the caveat is that the show is in japanese with no english guides/subtitles but for me personally (not a Japanese speakerstill enjoyed the visuals to warrant going back to the museum again.Definitely worth visiting if you are traveling within the area. Moderate walking distance from nearest train station with many eaterys nearby. There is also a museum gift shop opposite.

This is the perfect place to play, experiment and have hands-on experience with many great exhibits. If only I could have done this when I was in school. It also boasts the worlds largest planetarium with a diameter of 35 meters. The only let down was the lack of English: not good for foreign tourists.

The science museum and the planetarium were the focus of my recent day trip to Nagoya from my home in Shizuoka City- especially the planetarium, since Id read that it is the worlds largest and I love planetariums. The building itself was beautiful and quite impressive and the staff was helpful. I believe that the cost was reasonable - 800¥ for an adult. The extensive science displays were large and well done - and quite crowded on the day we attended, with lots of families with children. And, although the focus of the displays was obviously school-aged children, I think they were interesting enough to engage adults as well - as it should. The planetarium was indeed large, the projecter powerful, and the reclining swivel seats comfortable, yet I felt disappointed by the current 40-minute show. It was presented live in Japanese, which I expected, but especially given that the focus is youth, there was too little use of the awesome capacity of the room and equipment to show the wonderfully beautiful and awesome spectacle of the universe and its movement. There was far too much talk accompanied by projected facts and figures.Overall, an impressive facility, in spite of my being somewhat underwhelmed by the current program - maybe next time.

One of the best museums from Nagoya City. It is highly recommended to check their website in order to verify the availability of the planetarium for the day when one considers visiting. During busy days and national holidays many Japanese families are heading to this museum.Friendly place for families with kids regardless of age.

Very fun, lots of little experiments everywhere. If you want to eat there, yu can bring your own food and eat at the tables on the 3rd floor or go to the cafe at the bottom floor opposite the entrance. The big dome shows are great, but all of it is in Japanese so I wouldnt recommend watching the show if you cant understand japanese. Great place.

A must visit for those visiting Japan with small kids, and for those of you who are always a kid at heart. Admission is free for kids below 15 years old, and only 400 yen for adults. There are 6 (or was it 7floors with each floor dedicated to a specific theme, such as house and living where you could see the structure of a typical Japanese homes, Japanese trains network and simple mechanics, simple science experiments that kids could play with by themselves, and much more. Theres also a planetarium running shows every hour, which we didnt visit because its already closed for the day. Its guaranteed fun for the family! Most of the display however are in Japanese so parents of would need to explain to their kids.

Very entertaining and fun way to learn interesting and useful things of science. With an incredible structure, you can find pretty much everything about mathematics, physics, chemistry and biology divided in 4 floors. Audio guide provided for free on your smartphone. And do not miss out the oportunity to check the spectacle on the dome! enjoy!!
