Ive been to both sides Loja / zamoraLoja side: coming from Loja or vilcabamba ask the bus driver to drop you at cajanuma (had problem finding it as it is not a town or anythingwhich will leave you at the entry of the administration, entry is free and you can either walk for 8 km or ask the workers if possible to drop you at the Refugio if theyre going there.Ive done counter clockwise trail and it was amazing however BE CAREFUL AS AFTER THE MIRADOR THE HIL / CERRO IS VERY TECHINICAL, NARROW PATH FOR FEET AND in general not well maintained they leave you some rope along the way to climb over rocks higher than your knee heightId recommend to go to Mirador and backZamora: after getting off the bus you can either take a taxi till the parking lot and walk another 1km until the administration or walk for 6.5kmNote of caution the Mirador is steep and theres no mark where it ends so you can countiue walking for a while till you think youve reached, my advice do 2-3 zigzags once you see them and enjoy the view and come back

📍Parque Nacional Podocarpus. 💚Ubicado en las provincias de Loja Y Zamora Chinchipe. 🌳 Su nombre es debido al árbol característico del bosque húmedo Montaño, el Podocarpus o Romerillo. 🐦 Cuenta con más de 600 especies de aves, que representa al rededor del 37.5% de las especies endémicas del Ecuador. Partimos desde el refugio ubicado a las afueras de Loja, fuimos con zapatos normales por lo que se aconseja ir con botas o zapatos de montaña ya que generalmente la zona es lluviosa y fría. Llegamos hasta el mirador y descendimos alrededor de 2h. El circuito completo tiene una duración de 3h30min. Para realizarse deben ir con impermeables además de las botas.

Una excelente atención y a las 2 Srtas guias que nos acompañaron hasta la cumbre. Espero volver pronto ya que es un lugar mágico para renovar energías actitud y salud... gracias Dios los bendiga...

Lindo lugar. Lleno de parajes hermosos donde se puede disfrutar de la naturaleza en su máximo esplendor. Cascadas, ríos, senderos, lugar de camping, flora y fauna diversas.

Sencillamente hermoso, sitio natural ,en el que se trata de conservar la naturaleza y su esplendor, libre de la intromisión del ser humano, el turismo debe de generar suficientes recursos, para mantener estás areas

We came here on a bird watching expedition. There didnt turn out to be many birds (our guide said it might have been the wrong time of daybut the views from the top spectacular.

El parque Nacional poducarpos es un lugar de belleza natural y diversidad en aves y animales ha rurales de la zona pues os invito a ser turismo a nacionales y extranjeros espero te guste la aventura y disfrutes en ests belleza natural

Muy refrescante, todo puro, buena caminata, el guardabosque muy atento, cascada relajante

Parque Nacional Podocarpus entrada por Zamora desde el terminal terrestre a 20 minutos en carro particular. Desde te deja el carro ay como 15 minutos caminando hasta llegar al campamento para registrarse de ahi un sinfín de diferentes senderos hasta escalar la durísima montaña hasta llegar a un mirador aunque es duro la escalada y el descenso riesgo de lluvia neblina etc.no dejarse caer la tarde un parque magnífico.

Increíbles vistas aunque el camino a los miradores hay que hacerlo con cuidado para no resbalar.

A 15 minutos en carro del terminal de Zamora se puede llegar a este mágico lugar! es hermoso con muchas mariposas como si de cuento se tratara y definitivamente puedes sentir paz.

Espectacular lugar, propio para practicar ciclismo, además se obtiene fantásticas fotografías; abundante flora de singular belleza.

THE PARADISE

Excelente pedazo de la naturaleza.Es para aventureros que les guste el senderismo y la humedad, normalmente esta nublado y mantiene un clima lluvioso. Si se despeja tendrás vistas únicas de Loja y sus alrededores. El recorrido mas largo son 5km de aproximadamente 4 horas de recorrido a un ritmo moderado.Recomendable llevar hidratación y protección para la lluvia.

A beautiful rain forest to visit with petrified trees.

Entered park from Zamora (by way of Via Podocarpus). Drive out the dirt road to a parking lot, the walk 20-30 min to the ranger station. From there you will find plenty of great hiking trails, a swimming hole, short walks to some waterfalls and a small orchid nursery. Campground and bunk house are located close to the ranger station. Excellent hiking, birdwatching and lots of fun plants and insects!

Lugar lleno de fauna y flora una vista espectacular y los guarda bosques son muy amables!!

Un excelente lugar, si te gusta entrar en contacto con la Naturaleza, el ingreso al. Parque se encuentra a aproximadamente 20 minutos de la ciudad de Zamora, (en taxi cuesta 3 dólaresel parque tiene buena señalizacion y ofrece actividades como por ejemplo avistamiento de aves, visita a un jardín de Orquídeas, asenso a un mirador (nivel de dificultad medio), cascadas, sitio para natación, de seguro vas a pasar un buen momento.

29.10.2017 today the access road is blocked by trees and deep sand. We tried to cross but it was a bit scary and dangerous. I wouldnt suggest to cross it unless the road gets cleared

Beautifull National Park, with lots of animals and gorgeous orchids. Camping and hiking in this forest provides a lifetime experience.

Great place for a short hike if you are not an expert [ regarding the first Mirador ]. Entered by the Loja side. They have 3 short routes from here and one long that requires not only hiking experience but to be real fit (around 6 hours in difficult conditions). If its too cloudy or rainy avoid the longest route. You wont be able to see anything.The first Mirador has superb views to the valley and Loja city. To get there it is necessary to go along a steep trail that could be slippery when raining.Not a bad idea to bring a walking stick. Bring water, and visit toilet before departure. Theres nothing along the route to the first Mirador.Register in the information center and dont forget to stick to the trail. Almost nothing of phone signal up there .

Stunning views and amazing scenery. Podcarpus is a must-see when in Ecuador.
