NRA Whittington Center - in Raton, United States
Its a nice facility, BUT the Motorhome sights are FAR from level & any first timer needs to be aware that theyll need their jacks all the way extended & another 2 Foot of leveling blocks. A simple "uneven pull through" explanation when reserving a sight couldve saved us much stress. ;)
I love coming to this place every year. I love the people and the facilities.
Why dont you go extinct already NRA? Dinosaurs like you have been long gone. :))))
Gorgeous scenery, clear air, very relaxing. Check it out.
This is a very interesting place to visit. Lots of deer, antelope, bears and turkey living on this property. The staff that work here are extremely helpful and courteous in answering your questions. If you decide to visit you will enjoy the NRA Whittington Center.
Really good place to campLarge sites. I think 🤔 all are pull through for larger vehiclesOnly negative. Gravel is muddy during rain
The best kept American secret. Destination range, if you can imagine it, it’s probably here. So much to do, archery, rifle, pistol, the most comprehensive shotgun center I’ve ever visited.
I enjoy the larger spaces with room between them for privacy. I enjoy the shooting ranges so I can perfect my shooting skills.
Great well kept ranges. Fantastic RV sites with beautiful views. And the staff couldnt be nicer. A gem in Northern New Mexico
Awesome place! Sad to find that they no longer honor LEA range passes for our Heros in blue though.
Im not a gun person, but this is worth a visit. Camping, cabins, history, beautiful vistas. Gun ranges of all kinds pistols, rifles, shotguns, good museum and gift shop. Really nice people. Low crime rate.
We love this place. What a peaceful vacation spot to escape the heatStaff is wonderful. We have stayed in cabins before but this time have RVSites r spacious with all hookups&So reasonable
Our vacation destination every year for national championship competition
Excellent accommodations. We stayed for 3 nights in our camper and 2 small children. We watched some the .50 BMG competition. Taught our children about gun safety, and did some shooting on several of the ranges. We shot .22 LR at some small steel chickens and other targets which was a lot of fun for us adults and the kids. Fun for the whole family. We saw lots of wildlife while we were there too. Pronghorn, deer, elk, vultures, and turkeys.
The NRA Whittington center is a top notch multi discipline firearms training/recreational facility. Something for everyone. I have been going there for informal target practice and sanctioned matches since the mid 90’s. Beautiful scenery and abundant wildlife make it a destination worth driving too even if you don’t shoot!
Awesome place to stay while traveling!
Clean facilities and if you need anything the front desk is always open.
We stayed here Its a beautiful place
One super facility. Love to camp and shoot at this diverse shooting facility!
Great facility. So much to do. Clean. Staff were friendly and helpful.
Interesting gun displays. Worth the trip. Note: Google Maps will send you to the wrong place.
Awesome staff.well built.this place is so organized.if ya love hunting,Guns, targeting.this is for you.
Clean restrooms, great staff, wonderful scenery. Great place to stay and shoot a few targets.
There is so much to see from an amazing gift shop with a museum to range after range with stunning views and even a ghost town with a stunning old mine.
Fabulous museum with friendly and informative staff (Brian and Robert)…beautiful grounds and even had the opportunity to Offroad through a ghost mining town. Made for a great day☺️. Visited in October 2021
Amazing, iconic facility. Lodging, campgrounds, restaurant, museum, and of course the ranges. Good place to camp, with plenty of things to do, even if youre not a shooter. Lots of wildlife to see.
This place is amazing!!!!!! Best tip: beware googlemaps directions, it tried to take us thru locked gated private roads. Google maybe doesnt like conservatives. Other tip: NM doesnt allow open carry at anyplace that sells alcohol. Be free, have fun and dont litter
NRA Whittington Center and museum is just south of Raton, NM. Just take I 25 south to HWY 64 and follow the signs. We only had time to visit the museum which only asks for a donation. Not a member of the NRA and no pressure to join. If your interested in firearms/ammo you can spend a day just at the museum.
It is a great facility, Loved the proximity to the Raton Municipal Airport. Well maintained, friendly staff and great accommodation.
Friendly staff, great gift shop and nice full hook up campground.Edit September 2021.We were only here for one night in the older, East Campground which is FHU 30 amp. We connected to the power pedestal and had 134 VAC and our EMS wouldnt allow power into the coach. Tested with my VOM a had the same result. Called maintenance and he tested other unoccupied sites with the same result. Not much he could do since there werent many spaces occupied.
While I washed out of the K2M with mechical issues. This place is amazing and the rv camping sites are nice, though there is room for some improvements which do not need addressing here.I will definitely be coming back for visits in the future.
this is our second time RV camping here and we can highly recommend it to anyone - even if you arent into guns! The RV campground is very nice, quiet and has bathhouse with laundry in the east campground area. The sites are large and mostly level and the area offers opportunity to see a lot of wildlife. We saw elk, deer and pronghorn. The visitor center has a great museum as well!
First visit here, need to come again soon. Great place, lots to see and do. Heck, they even sell guns and ammo
We just happened upon this place and are REALLY glad we stopped. Great gun museum. And the stuffed animals are cool too.
Great place to shoot with amazing views. Sporting clays, trap, and skeet all in one great location. Clean and safe with excellent staff.
Due to unfortunate circumstances I wasnt able to spend a lot of time here. But I did manage to visit the gift/gun shop and museum. The museum is small but packed with interesting firearms and the gun shop had some things I could not find at my local gun store. If you are in Raton, NM this is a must stop. The staff is friendly and very knowledgeable.
Very interesting place. I have only seen in magazines. Was able to see the Brownells Museum Collection. Temp was about 4 degrees. So - just sight seeing.
A wonderful place to bring family to teach safe use of fire arms. Very friendly & helpful staff. A bargain for a great full hook-up RV camp ground.
I will never stay at the cabins again they have a ridiculous 48 hour policy with no leniency I would recommend staying in Raton at a chain hotel at least if you’re schedule changes in a unlikely event you can talk with a manager that will listen and accommodate you accordingly without charging you for days you’re not staying. I spoke with the manager over reservations and received no resolution ...the range on the other hand is awesome and I can’t wait to come back with family and friends!
The absolute best ranges I have ever been to. They keep every range well maintained and the staff that works this center is absolutely great to deal with. We have always had a great time on any of the ranges we have shot at and everyone shooting follows proper shooting protocols and commands. I have also been through their museum here and it is very well done. The history on the guns as well as the time periods is spot on and tastefully done.
Quality shooting sports facilities, friendly staff, beautiful high desert setting. The relaxed pace of this well-run range makes it a pleasure to wait while a deer clears your field and an eagle or a turkey vulture soars overhead. Highly recommended by as a recreation destination.
I have visited five or six times. I have stayed in Competitor Housing and camped in the RV park. Great experience every time. Be aware that you may have to travel over gravel roads to get to the housing and RV park. Never a problem for me but some people may object. The roads are well maintained but if the weather is wet you may get a little mud on the tires.
Went and shot sporting clays at one of the biggest range complexes in America. Prices are decent. Staff are friendly and accommodating. Burnt through 100 shotgun rounds in about 2 hours. Launchers are well maintained and accurate. If you like to shoot, rifle, shotgun or pistol, this is the place to go. I highly recommend it. If you call yourself a shooter, and you havent been to this range, just stop. This is the god of ranges. You could waste days and a thousand rounds of ammo here and not think twice.
Unbelievable experience! Great facilities. Pro shop on site. Accommodations were first rate. Food was decent. Close to town if you need anything. The shooting facilities are top notch...covered shooting positions, real restrooms. Will definitely be returning.
This place is incredible. The staff were super friendly and knowledgeable. They have a great gift shop where you can get tons of different things from hand guns to rifles, tshirts glasses hunting and outdoor gear. They have ranges for every calibur and gun imaginable. If you havent been you really need to go!!!!
Awesome place to go camping and shooting with your buddies or family! All the staff members are super friendly and willing to help, educate, and train any shooter at any experience level. The museum and gift shop are also really cool. Highly recommend!!
Just spent 2 wonderful days here. Incredible facility. Lots of open space. Amazing views. Friendly and helpful staff. Firearms of almost any variety are welcome here. This is what I call Freedom. Thank you NRA and God Bless America.
They honor our Second Amendment rights!!!... obviously. But in addition to this 5 star perk, the facility is open, clean, staffed with the friendliest of folks. We stayed at the RV campsite which was reasonable in price. Clean, flat. Full hookups and they all worked. Theres bountiful wildlife flourishing throughout the park: elk, deer, turkey, antelope. There are tons of ranges to match whatever firearm you have or want to use. We are definitely coming back. Thank you NRA for protecting our 2a rights, for preserving this land, and for creating an amazing shooting experience that blends seamlessly into the landscape.
This is perhaps the finest comprehensive firearms range facility in the world. It has a significant number of very nice accommodations from private cabins to dormitory style housing all in excellent keeping. A highly professional knowledgeable and courteous staff which oversees a myriad of outdoor activities for childrens camp and adult activities. The intake center has a great little museum and extensive gift shop. It is your portal to enjoying this 33,000 acre wonderland. This place is an American treasure
Absolutely awesome ! Open spacious land w / beautiful scenery and mountains. If you like the outdoors and want to get away to relax , do some shooting , camping , it is the place to be. We stayed in the cabins , and again just awesome , perfect !
