NI Institute and Museum Bitola - Museum in Bitola, Macedonia
It was an amazing feeling to be in a place where Ataturk studied and knowing at one point he was walking in the same hallways…
It is a wonderful architectural structure and very valuable as a museum.
Brilliant museum !
Ok, ok, it is a city museum but it is veey well organized with explanations in engliah. And some of the preservation work? Amazing, I have never seen a display before where they included a "bedore restoration" photo.Listen, irs a city museum, it will not blow your mind but it is wxcellently run
Well preserved part of history, staff very polite and helpful.
Nice local museum. Worth visit.
Its a unique museum if you are at Bitola dont miss the opportunity to visit it 😁👍
One of the most beatiful historical buildings in Manastir. It is also where Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the founder of Turkish Republic, studied in high school. There is seperate exhibition regarding him. In other parts you can see many valuable paintings and other stuff about the history of Manastir (Bitola). Must visit place.
Interesting museum full of history 😊
Its a great way to see and learn about the Macedonian culture
Main visitors are from Turkey, because of Ataturk. The museum is mixed with heritages of different period but is not managed well. The entrance fee is 120denars (2€).If there is not Ataturk this museum probably may become a ruined building.
Wonderfull place! I suggest you to visit.
Its good but it could be alot better. Not just Kemal Ataturk part of the museum. All of the museum can be alot better.Anyway we liked it being there as a family.
It is very nice to be there. You should visit and live the history by yourself.
Really poorly maintained. No lighting in several places. The bathrooms are not well maintained either and are dirty. The museum really needs a thorough cleaning and maintenance.Maybe Macedonia should decide on investing in -and maintaining what history and artefacts it already has, instead of have invested millions into fake statues. What a shame.
I am pleased to visit this museum which was the military high school that Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the founder of the Republic of Turkey, had graduated in 1898 at the age of 17 in Manastır (Bitola).
Amazing museum of Bitola through the centuries, dont miss out the piano room
institution and museums matter for fountain ⛲ doesnt matter inside on other side people watch we destroy benches but nowhere to go
Really nice museum, entrance is just 120 MKD, 2 Euros. Is way bigger than it looks, you have several different expositions and I recommend at least 1h to see everything quickly.
Had great Roman, Greek, ect artifacs. Had an art section and some military stuff too. Worth every penny and nice to kill a couple hours.
There is nothing to say, just visit and you will understand how i feel.
Very interesting museum. A lot of history. If you. If you go in Bitola, visit this museum.
Very nice building of high historical importance with amazingly interesting and large museum! Absolutely must see!
Nice memorial for the great Turkish leader Atatürk. However, I think there was nothing authentic that belonged to him on display. There were good informative pictures and statues about him. Most photos, though, were heavily colored and retouched. On the other side, the archeological museum was quite nice. I was impressed there were a few displays about the Jewish history and deportation of the Jews from the country during the holocaust. I was pleased to see the information about Jews was not hidden and was exhibited openly, with a list of names of some of the deported Jews.
Very big building but requires more attention inside. Has the potential to be a magnificent museum.
Very nice place, there are a lot of things to see here. Also, there are many events held at the backyard of the museum and I find that exciting.
One of the best places in Bitola where you can see not only the history of the town but also interesting facts , that even someone who is born and living here havent heard. I recomend for every person who is comming in Bitola and living in Bitola to visit this extraordinary place.
It was okay. It wasnt the best museum Ive ever been to, but it wasnt the worst, either. It was a little dated, but objectively the exhibits were interesting and educational. Personal opinion, however, I wasnt blown away. The city of Bitola, however, is stunning! Amazing, beautiful, friendly, and overall has a very "European" feel to me.
So much potential to make this museum great, needs an upgrade! Amazing artefacts and so much history about the beautiful Macedonia and its people.
A nice place for a one time visit, but they really have a lack of interesting items, I mean they do have a tank but meh.
Museum of Bitola is a great place to visit
Very memorable place for Turkish People who love Atatürk
Bitola Museum is located in the building called “Old army Barack”, which is registered monument of culture of first category.Built as a military high school (Idadiein 1848 when the city of Bitola (Monastirwas military, administrative, political and commercial center of European Turkey, the military high school existed until 1900, when it was transformed into Military Academy and as such works until 1909. From 1909 to 1912 it served as high military school – military gymnasium.
Atatürk you make everywhere amazing. Thanks to Macedonian friends and government for the museum
Nice museum, but not exhibiting the most impressive statues excavated in the area (which are exibhted is the archeological museum of Skopje)
It is very informative and interesting history of Ataturk and also the archeological museum is interesting.
Built as a military high school (Idadiein 1848 when the city of Bitola (Monastirwas military, administrative, political and commercial center of European Turkey. This was the military school Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the founder and the first president of Turkey, attended. Its a must-see place.
Well. I love museums but this one needs a bit of cleaning, info, air, light... actually they need to refurbish it.There is a toilet in poor condition, there is no souvenir shop or coffee place. Most of the people visit only the Ataturk room and I cant blame them. Its very close to the centre and thats it more or less. Shame.
It is not much well-kept. It has got some ruins, but not attractive. Adult ticket is 120 denar (2EUR). There is a special saloon for Atatürk.
The great leader Ataturk studied here three years from 1896 to 1899. He graduated with success. A girl was in love with him.
Nice place, a lot of exhibits that are worth seeing. Would love to go there again, only downside is the price - not that its expensive, but they charge domestic tourists 1 euro, foreigners 2 euros, and I dont think thats fair.
Interesting artefacts, theres a lot to see, but unfortunately not every item has a proper description and there is no guide that can provide additional info. However, the museum is worth a visit.
This building has a historical meaning for Macedonia and also for Turkey because this is former Otoman officer school where studied the Father of modern Turkey mr. Kemal Ataturk ,and inside is preserved a memorial room in his honour...
This is the place where the father of the modern Turkey, Mustafa Kemal Atatürk have graduated Military Gymnasium. Today its the most visited museum in Bitola (Monastiri).
Very good museum. Much bigger than expected so can easily spend 2+ hrs there.
This used to be the school Mustafa Kemal Ataturk attended. It was a moving experience to see his memory being alive in this museum.
Small and nice museum. All about the life in Macedonia of kemal at a turkey, who attended there military academy
Place to be visited. Good organisation. Part of Ataturk museum corner good estabilished. The other part is mixed of different historical periods.
A very nice museum however, staff are lacking enthusiasm in presenting the material. But a good visit with alot of history, if your in the the wonderful bitola.
Each of us, even though we endlessly love the future, wants to look into the past and to feel its scent and to hear its sounds.Every stone in the courtyard of this object, every door that opens in front of us preserves the sounds of the past and those of the future. In its bosom it protects the centuries and the stories about the long existence. It knows all of the stories and unselfishly gives them to anyone that wants to hear them.Today the National Institution “Institute and Museum” - Bitola, is located in one of the most important cultural and historical monuments of Bitola, in the building of the Old Army barracks. The importance and the significance of this object is not only the result of its monumentality, but to the historical past, events and individuals that stayed here. This place was built in 1848, when Bitola had its biggest development, was built as a Military High School - Idadie. In 1900, this High School became a Military Academy - Harabie, and as such it worked until 1909.The most important period of the existence of this Military Academy is connected to the period when the cadet Mustafa Kemal Ataturk - the father of Modern Turkey, was educated there. The adaptation of this building into a Museum started in 1983. It represents a real treasure where the most valuable cultural and historical treasures from the region are kept, preserved and presented. Thousands of exponents from which only a part are exposed, keep the civilization values of different epochs, that way creating the cultural and historical map of the region. The continuous period of existence of different cultures, their symbiosis, continuing prosperity and their diversity enables the presence of such diversity that could rarely be found somewhere else, and in such a small region. The richness of exponents (archaeological, ethnological, historical and othersare only one part through which we become witnesses of our own past. The constant archaeological exhibits where we can trace different historic periods of the region, the City Room, Memorial Room of Khemal Ataturk, as well as the numerous temporary exhibits on various themes, gives the visitors an opportunity to feel the spirit of the past and at least for a moment to steal a piece of the history, that was created by the past generations. But even this moment in the next moment will become history, so this is why it constantly becomes a part of this gathered history, of our gathered existence.
