NAMSAN Korean Restaurant - Korean restaurant in Melbourne, Australia
NAMSAN Korean Restaurant in Melbourne
Description
Privilege
Good service, nice food. Highly recommend!
fire chicken is really good, but not spicy at all even though we chose level 3
We tried the seafood spicy soup and they were generous with the portion, easily can be shared with 2-3 pax if you are not a big eater. Kimchi pancake was just normal but having a hot soup in this cold weather is just great. Staff service was good, and we didnt have to queue when we had dinner at around 6. They had both indoor and outdoor seats but the outdoor seats can be slightly cramped and wobbly so the ground is not fully flat, but not really a big issue for us.
MoreGood food and rustic or nightmarket feel decor.Ordered bulgogi with tofu, fries and original Korean fried chicken. All was cooked well and presentation was nice.Pricing: medium for similar restaurant $$Pros: food, serviceCons: 2hr sitting limitOverall was a an alright experience would go again.
MoreA delightful hidden gem in the heart of the city to eat some interesting selection of Korean food. My favourite is the rice cartilage ball - a crunchy ball of rice served on a bed of spicy bulgogi! Delicious. Also sitting outdoors feels like I m sitting in Korea. Highly recommend!
MoreNice food and friendly service 👍 I really liked the seafood pancake, crispy and not too oily.
MoreTried army stew for the first time and this place did not disappoint! The ingredients itself are pretty simple, but its the soup that makes the dish. The portion is enough for two people if youre not all that hungry, but if youre coming on an empty stomach Id suggest ordering one or two other dishes as well.
MoreQuick service. Good food for quality and quantity. Not overpriced.
Good quality food. Best to get here early as there’s usually a line to get a table later. A bit expensive.
MoreAmbience is so nice and we recived the service from the crews, They are friendly and they catered through our dinner warmly. Each dish arrived so quickly and enough on the food to get a good tasty. satisfied the meal portion sizes were spot on. We really enjoyed every single dish👍Highly recommend the korean food and would come back again.Well done guys!!
MoreThis restaurant is very popular and there is usually a bit of wait to get a table. We got a table after about 20 minutes or so when we went there on Friday at 5.50 pm. We tried the fish cake soup, kim chi pan cake and boneless fried soy chicken. The hot soup was really nice to enjoy in this cold winter night. The kim chi and boneless Fried chicken were really good as well. Will return and try other food next time.
MoreGreat food and value for money, i had eel, beef rib and fried chicken. All dishes are divine, service is friendly and fast despite the restaurant is full
MoreOne of the best korean fried chicken places, especially if you want to be put in a food coma. The chicken carbonarra is a massive recommendation but make sure u bring a friend or two. Scallops were great aswell. Is a place worth coming back to.
MoreWe visited Namsan on a Friday night without a booking. I don’t know if it was luck or divine intervention but we were able to get a table straight away. After we sat down there was a queue that was forming to get in, by the time we left there was over 20 people in the queue! Wow!I love how you get to tick what you want on the menu with a whiteboard marker. More places should do this!We had the cheese and corn, the soy garlic chicken and a side of chips between two people. All was delicious 🤤You can even get 500ml of Lager for $10A+ - would recommend! $55 for two people.
MoreLoveee this place. The army stew was exceptional. I wanted to try the tonkatsu for very a long time and it was just amazing. Very big portion size. Nice customer service.15-20 min wait to get seated. Very busy place. But worth the wait. Definitely visit this place if you’re looking for a good korean restaurant. The restaurant is also very pretty and authentic. Outdoor and indoor seating.
MoreWas really good!Atmosphere were great!!! Loved it! Its like you are in the middle of Seoul!Fried chicken was very tasty!Staff and service could be better!Overall very good, will be definitely back!
MoreI didn’t know they don’t take bookings but they replied very kindly on the phone. Also food and service are amazing even on a busy Friday night. Thank you!
MoreWhere do I start?!The food - phenomenal!! We ordered the Army Stew, Soy Garlic chicken, God Fire chicken (mediumand Bulgogi beef. The stew was absolutely amazing; jam packed with flavour and cooked at your table. I would reccommend removing some of the soup as there are so many items to cook. The fried chicken (both flavourswas to die for!! So perfectly flavoured, sticky, crispy and yummy. The bulgogi was super tasty and satisfying. Portion sizes were great too.The service - absolutely great! So we went there as a group of 4, with a pram!! Little did I know that they were not equipped for tiny kids. They dont have baby seats or a space for prams, but they went through a really good effort to fit us in, pram and all. The staff wore masks, they were very friendly and accommodating, and made sure we were comfortable, despite having a crowded house. We will definitely be going again, and again.A must try if you are visiting Melbourne, or make this your new favourite local Korean joint.
More10/10 absolutely best surprise in city love loveGreat food, cute Korean street ambiance ✅✅ we got there at opening time so no problem getting a table weeknight add it to your list
MoreThis is easily a 5/5 from me for korean restaurants in terms of food, service and atmosphere! It used to be called good ovening, but has rebranded to namsam.Definitely get the carbonate fried chicken which is kept hot on top of a pot which is lit by a flame! Yes! A flame.. The effort!Coming back after so many years, I am proud to say that it is still absolutely delicious! Quality of food still up there, service is very friendly and its a vibe where you want to take your friends out to!Lines get busy here and snakes around the corner so get in real early! My only downside to this restaurant is you cant enjoy and take your time slowly here, eg drink, talk grab soju as staff will try to boot you out (understandable of course!given how popular this place is and the limited seating 😊Well done!
MoreThe ambience was great at Namsan! Lots of people more than happy to queue for their turn of devouring delicious Korean food! The set up reminds you a lot of Korea.Their Army Stew was so creamy once the cheese melted on top, and everything was cooked so well boiling together. Not too spicy either so that was nice. Mild. The fried chicken was lightly coated but super crispy and juicy.Pairing all this with good company, couple of drinks, and very friendly service might I add = 5/5 night out. Highly recommendFYI, all their side dishes are homemade apparently. Very nice.
MoreGreat location and food. Also was dog friendly, we had a small dog with us! Favourite dish was the spicy seafood stew and yukke.
MoreI cannot express how much I love this place. The food was delicious, especially the fried chicken, army stew and the mix seafood hotpot! The ambiance reminds of korea, such an inviting place and the staff are so attentive!
MoreEverything was so tasty and good portion. Very friendly service too!!Definitely recommend this restaurant
MoreTook my partner out for his birthday dinner and Namsan did not disappoint. We love Korean food and eat it regularly, Namsan is hands down the best Korean restaurant in Melbourne. We had the signature fried chicken Carbonara, the spicy seafood stew with Udon and the rice balls. Everything was delicious to say the least. Portions were very generous as well. The staff were attentive and helpful. Cost wise I would say it was reasonable considering the portion size. A must go to if you want to try or love Korean food.
MoreGreat food, especially the spicy pork ribs! Lovely to be able to sit outside too!
MoreFood 9/10Ordered the•Spicy Cartilage with riceball 10/10 (was amazing, a new fav dish)•Spicy carbonara chicken 9/10•Corn cheese 10/10 (can never go wrong with corn cheese•Kimchi Pancake 6/10- it was slightly crispy outside, but soft inside as there was a lot of filling which was not to my taste, would be better if had maybe more batter and crispier!VERY cute Korean vibes!
MoreCheesy goodness at its best.Went to this place last night and there was a line just after opening. Luckily, we didnt have to wait long and we were spoilt with choices. We feasted up and got some killer dishes to chow downCheese Corn - Great little entre. Who would know that cheese and corn can make a killer combo. 🌽Butter Scallop - its cheesy, its buttery its delicious. 🧀Spicy Cheesy Beef Ribs - The ribs are HUGE. The spicy sauce and the cheese (againcompliments really well togetherCarbonara Chicken - The main highlight for the night. Not often fried chicken would go well with carbonara sauce 😜.They also have the spicy carbonara chicken which is one of their recommended dishes which Ill try next timeVery important to have these dishes with 🍺 BEER. A must order 😆One of the finest Korean restaurants Ive ever been to. Make sure you come early otherwise you may expect a line.
MoreWow! All the food was phenomenal. The spicy clam stew was amazing!! They were super generous with the seafood and the soup was packed with flavour! The chicken carbonara was delicious as well. It was served over a flame which kept the sauce and cheese gooey. The sea snail noodles and cuttlefish sashimi were so unique, I thoroughly enjoyed everything!
MoreGreat service, they accommodated our big group with no booking. The food is served quickly and efficiently. Ordering is by self completing a form and pressing a button. The taste is really good, mine could have done with more heat but it tested amazing. I had the pork and calamari. Note that they dont do split bills.
MoreI had dinner here with a largish group. We had not booked and they were able to accomindate is with no issues. The menu consists of a range of the typical Korean food and come in fairly large servings. Service was pretty quick as well.
MoreWait time is long even after 9pm. The extra hot god fire chicken was 🔥.Kim-chi pancake and corn cheese was really good.Definitely one of the best Korean restaurant in CBD.
MoreExcellent chicken and spicy soup. We order from here quite often and its always been good.
MoreWe got lovely Friday night here ,Foods so good and service was lovely too !And sit outside not that cold the heater made us feel warm !
MoreVery delicious Korean food! But be prepared to wait as they dont accept online bookings. Minimum 1 hour wait.
MoreThe food and atmosphere are nice I like it. The decorations makes you feel like you’re in Korea somehow lolFoods are not bad. We ordered their signature hotpot and mixed fried chicken and they’re ok.The only downside of this restaurant is that their service. It took more than 30 mins to get served.
MoreBeen wanting to dine here for a while now and it did not disappoint! Great food, especially the army stew! And the whole vibe made me feel like I was back in Korea! 너무 좋아했어요!
MoreVery busy especially peak hours on Friday evening. The deco had some South Korean vibe that I remembered from our trip to Seoul in 2016.Food came out quick and was good. Highly rated for fast and friendly customer service. Good nice for small group of friends chatting, eating, drinking and sharing some laughs.
More🇰🇷 korean food for winter nights🥩 beef yuuke🍗 korean fried chicken🔥 baked scallops🧀 tteokbokki🍙 cartilage rice balls🏠: @namsanmelbourne📍: Queen St, CBD📝: Have you had authentic Korean food before? Can’t say no to a Korean feast on a cold Friday night like this.❤️: Feast on Korean fried chicken, cheesy tteokbokki and yuuki beef with egg yolk. End the meal with some cute Korean ice cream as well.
MoreFood was really tasty, if youre looking for some good Korean street food I was definitely suggest this place. We had the two spice level ttetteboki and it was not overly spicey.Japchae was a highlight.
MoreCan never go wrong with a Korean feast and here youll be assured of a delicious and fun meal. Choose from the tteokbokki (dont forget to add cheese on top), cartilage and rice ball, garlic butter scallops, yukke and of course, Korean fried chicken. Bold and punchy flavours, as one would expect from Korean cuisine. Youll definitely find yourself wanting more of the crispy and tender KFC, the rich and buttery scallops, and also the super cheesy and robust flavour of the tteokbokki. Finish your meal with the delicious Korean ice cream such as Melona or Watermelon. Yum!
MoreNice Korean restaurant which offers classic dishes. The place was pretty packed when we went there last time.Try the king size donkatsu if you come here next time.
MoreAlthough the menu isnt as big as other Korean restaurants, there is enough variety for everyone, the food is decent too. I did find the Japchae and bulgogi beef used almost the same ingredients. So dont order both at the same time.
MoreInsta: melbfoodie_markYT: MelbFoodieMark-One of the two best Korean Fried Chicken joints in Melbourne (vouched by Koreans)! Juicy tender chicken with perfect amount of their special sauces. Comes out of tons of side dishes - you know youve got yourself a great meal. Had Half Sweet Spicy & Half Soy Garlic - both were crunchy and yet succulent. It comes out with fries, fried ddokbokki, rice balls, dumplings, shrimp tempuras, and even corn cheese. Slightly expensive but you get to taste a bit of everything this way. Alway remember to grab a pint of beer with KFCs!
MoreThe Crazy Chicken Platter caught my attention from the menu and it’s the item that made me want to visit Goodovening. It did not disappoint!I love the sauce on the chicken, how crunchy each bite was and how delicious the sides were!I will definitely be back to try the other items in the menu and to get those lovely fried chicken again 😋
MoreAwesome food and great service👍🏼I really loved the crispy grilled chicken w fresh veggies!!Also the carbonara chicken was super nice😍I’ll definitely be back! ;)
MoreFriendly service in a relaxed atmosphere. Had the popcorn chicken and karage rice during lunch, slightly dry but not bad, would like to come back for full menu during dinner.
MoreOne of the best Korean fried chickens you can get in Melbourne. A lot of Korean fusion that’s perfect for a late night snack! They do offer a great range of drinks and happy hours! Try the carbonara chicken and coronarita! The owner there do care about how the food is being served, always asks if the food/service was satisfactory!
MoreThe basic Soy and Garlic is superb. Very similar to what Korean shows present. The serving sizes are good as well. Chicken is very crispy and not greasy as well. Excellent.
MoreFried chicken was crispy and juicy! The fish cake soup was also great! The cheese chicken and pork belly were pretty average. Would definitely come back again for the fried chicken and soup. Too bad the place is kinda small.Food - 8Service - 7Vibe - 6Price - $$
