Peaceful botanical garden with lush landscaping, shaded walking paths & several sitting areas.
Sweet little garden in the middle of a cityThere was a school group touring the gardens. Cute little turtle pond with a footbridge
We spent the night in Jackson on a road trip and decided to visit this place in the morning before continuing our journey. Very beautiful little garden and we loved it.
Mynelle Gardens was probably very beautiful at one time. You can tell that someone put a lot of love into it, but it is very run down now. We visited in June 2022 and it really needs some clean up and repair. Nothing was blooming. The gardens badly needed tending and they were parched. Several of the statues were broken or overgrown. It might be better in the spring but it would still require a good deal of tlc. We will not go back. Its really a shame because you can see that it must really have been beautiful when Mynelle was alive.
My family visited this place in June, hot summer day. We could appreciate the history of the place but at the time we went it was more like hiking in the woods instead of gardens. The woman who was there also let us into the home. It is showing its age and there is certainly history still there in the furniture, pictures, wall and ceiling details, solarium and porch. They are using the grounds for wedding and baptisms and baby showers so there are rooms with updated kitchen and modern furniture in some of the rooms. I imagine it would be a nice place to get married especially during April and May when the caretaker said was the best time of year to see the flowers. For the 5.00 fee it was worth the stop but I would do it as part of a tour stop rather than to just go out to see it. It took us about an hour to tour.
Serene gardens. Self guided tour. I really enjoyed the bench swings and turtles in the pond
Great little hidden garden to walk around. Keep an eye out for the large turtles in the pond!
So nice.....
Great
Needs a little love. Good bones.
Neat place, beautiful exterior home.. The garden is sadly neglected.
This is a beautiful, peaceful place with lots of beauty to discover around every bend in the paths. Visiting while on a trip from St. Louis, we especially enjoyed some flowers we dont normally see in our area. Well worth the $5 admittance fee.
My grands (ages 10,7,& 4and I enjoyed our visit immensely today. I hope repairs can be made to bridge and this Jax attraction can be preserved as our economy recovers.
It looks like this place used to be nice but now it is just run down. Would not recommend the $5 you have to pay per person to get in. Go somewhere else. Or just don’t come to Jackson in general.
I have never been to the Gardens myself but it was one of my husbands favorite places to go. He would go and just sit there for hours drawing or thinking. He used to tell all about the trees and plants and flowers. He loved it there. Sadly he was killed December 2019. Ive thought about visiting the gardens since but it would have been too painful. I think I am ready now though and so ibplan to go very soon with our 4 boys.
Beautiful place
We were here for the peak azalea season. The colors and bushes were so beautiful, all throughout the gardens. Beautiful gardens that are in need of some TLC. They are probably funny great with limited resources. They need a lot of good volumes to get the gardens into great shape.
The entrance to this botanical garden looks almost like a closed storefront. Once you get past the initial entrance you are confronted with beautiful winding paths and a myriad of flowers in the spring. The color and calm are wonderful. While this garden is smaller than many, it is well worth the visit.
It’s a hidden gem in Jackson Mississippi. We loved the history of the place, you should go!
A beautiful oasis in Jackson. I should have visited years ago.
Its pretty nice. Probably better when azaleas are blooming
Nice place for a day
This is the place for a great reception, engagement, baby shower, or wedding! Nothing huge but wow what a view and what a feeling!!
Needs to be Renovated. The up keep is poor. Not alot of visitors. For years I didnt even know what this place was. This was my first visit. I thought it would be a nice place to take pictures. It was okay.
Beautiful place to visit
A beautiful place to have a wedding, all the flowers youll ever need
Being fairly new to the Jackson area, I am still exploring the city and looking for the hidden gems that arent regularly promoted or advertised. Not too long ago I visited Mynelle Gardens and was surprised that it isnt promoted more. It is a beautiful place with paths that meander through landscaped gardens, over streams and along the sides of a pond. It is a perfect place to sit and decompress. I am so glad that this place exists in Jackson and look forward to visiting at different times of year so I came see the plants in different stages.
The attendant was very friendly! Some of the areas are difficult to get to with a stroller. The water had a when to it, which made it difficult to see the fish we were feeding. We were also greeted by a big stray dog who really wanted to be our friend. The attendant quickly called animal control to get the dog, but my son was on the lookout for it for the remainder of our walk.
What a hidden jewel. This place is still amazing and worth the trip.
This place use to be full of flowers. Now its only green but the building is awesome for parties and events!!!!
Fun place
Stopped by to kill some time and was pleasantly surprised at how nice this place is. Very beautiful garden and peaceful to sit or take a stroll. They have food for feeding the fish in the pond with two arch bridges and a pretty fountain. Beautiful areas for events. I give 4 instead of five stars because although so beautiful and peaceful the landscaping is under renovation in some areas. I asked about this and they are owned by the city and lacking funding. With more public support this place has high potential to be a jewel in the rough in this city.
Love this place! Needs some additional funding it seems to restore it to its past glory!but its still nice
Love it
Beautiful gardens! Well kept by City of Jackson and local gardeners. Staff was so nice.
There wasnt much I bloom when we went, but still great number of plant and beauty where there was to see.
5.00 per person is too much for this small garden. The garden is not very well cared for and needs a lot of work. Same for the house, it was basically used as storage, such a shame too because its such a beautiful house.
Tried to take some photos here, but they have a $25 photographer fee plus $5 entrance fee per person. I am not a professional photographer just wanted to take some pics for my cousins sweet 16. Found the photographer fee a little steep.
Very nice for the limited budget they have to work with.
B t ful
Awesome place!
This is land and houses donated to the city by a local well to do family upon their exodus from the city as it became more urban and developed. It still contains some of the nice bigger houses and greenhouses and the exquisite garden has now been grown further throughout the property. It is also has been used for weddings and parties. For regular tours you just pay your entrance fee and go in and show yourself around. For a larger group fee there used to be guided tours dont know of they still do. And for weddings and parties you have to contact management.
Nice place to see birds
We had our wedding here in July. Gorgeous place and cheap
They are remodeling Mynelle Garden
Small and needs to be cleaned up
Beautiful! So peaceful here. Great place to enjoy nature
