My Hotel In Puerto Rico in San Juan
Description
Great place and services, comfortable and safe.
Great place, right in the center of San Juan. Great customer service.
After returning to our room at 11 pm, we noticed that when we flushed the toilet, black water from the toilet started coming out from the shower tub drainage. Since the front desk was closed, I called the Managers cellphone to explain the situation. She mentioned another room was experiencing the same issue, but someone was dealing with the problem and would shortly come to our room. After patiently waiting for 30 mins, I called her again for an update, but she did not pick up the phone and texted me, "Ill call you back." We were tired and just wanted to sleep, so I texted her back, letting her know that no one had come to our room yet and that I would prefer taking care of the issue at 8 am. Her reply back was, "working on it.”The following day I called her at 8:30 am, asking her for a new room to shower in or have someone come clean the tub. With a rude voice, she started getting on my case that she had no one on the property and it would take her time to get housekeeping there. At that point, I felt I had been patient enough and asked her to find the best solution. She got off the phone and called 8 mins later, yelling at me that I was a rude person because I had my "Do Not Disturb" sign on the door, and it was against the law for them to knock on the door if the sign is out.First, if that was the case, she should have told me over the phone or by text the moment we established communication. Second, I have not found anything that says it is against the law to knock on the door when the sign is out. On the contrary, hotels have the right to disturb the guest in case of an issue or repair needs to be done.I am very disappointed with the handling of this situation by the hotel manager and would expect professional conduct when we were very patient with an issue that can happen at any hotel. I would avoid booking this hotel for the simple fact that they did not take accountability for the situation and treated their customers poorly. The Manager created a hostile environment that could have been addressed differently with a different outcome.
MoreI wish they I could give no stars but I had to choose one of the options on the scale. I made travel accommodations for not sister and to travel to AfroNation Puerto Rico in March 2020 but never got to go because of the COVID-19 pandemic. I emailed them in October 2021 requesting a refund because not traveling was out of my control; airlines suspended travel and the music festival was canceled, but also also would not have been wise to still visit amidst a global emergency. The team responded to me saying they issued a refund and that was not the case. I sent them copies of my bank statements for the time frame that they claimed to send the refund to assure them that I never received the $800 I spent on accommodations. I really would appreciate getting my money back; I understand that they have a no refund policy but this situation is entirely different as it we are still experiencing this global emergency. Also, it is is absurd and disappointing that they refuse to be honest about the refund.
MoreHard to find. Unique and comfortable.
Nice and clean place in the middle of old San Juan.
Very clean and nice place.
Beautiful place, clean and great location. However I was so distraught at what took place during this pandemic. The day we arrived (March 16thwe were told that the island was just shutdown. The person at the desk even said they weren’t sure if the hotel would stay open. We were booked for the entire week, however everything was locked down. He told us if we decided to leave we would be refunded the remainder of the money paid for our stay. We spent the night and took the first flight out in the morning. Only to be told upon our return home that they would not refund the rest of our money. Terrible way to do business, especially in a crisis. I told all my friends about how beautiful the place was only to have to come back to the states and share that they are beautiful but dishonest.
MoreA convenient location and rooms very clean. Other than that if you want a simple room no windows stay on the first floor. Dont take long showers either water does get cold fast.
MoreCute hotel in the heart of old San Juan. Room had no windows which made it really quiet for sleeping.
MoreGreat location for a great price if you dont need a huge room or bed.
Hotel is definitely nice and well decorated but in all honestly I hardly think that is excuse enough for many of the failures. You would do better going to another place for the same price. The hotel has barely any staff making things like check in and asking questions a nightmare. The staff that does the check in also takes care of the place so if you have any issues or questions you have to hunt them down and find them. Once you find them they are as helpful as asking somebody on the street. They don’t seem to know anything about the parking situation that was sent in the email. The email stated there was a 24 hour parking for 13$, I was not able to find it anywhere nor the staff was helpful with it. Another little surprise that you might get besides the misleading email about parking is the issue with the showers. If you come to San Juan and it’s raining get ready for a cold shower. They use solar power to heat the water so if it’s raining you’ll have to shower with cold water. Again this was not stated in the email nor in the information of the hotel. Customer service overall leaves a lot to be desired. Hotel decoration is nice but the rooms look like a motel. Bathroom is tiny so if you are a L or XL person don’t expect to fit in the showers. Cold water as the only source to shower is not great either. Coming in and out of the hotel is easy after you spend a good amount of time waiting to be checked in because the staff is running around doing the rooms. Only reason I do not give it 1/5 is due to the nice decorations and the convenience of the hotel. I would not come here again unless they decide to take hospitality lessons and try to fix many of the logistics and core issues.
MoreBooked a room and they tried to put me in a room that had been vacated earlier that night because the people refused to stay in it. Tried to charge me more for the last room in the place. Credit card already charged for the room. Awful staff and a complete shi*hole. DO NOT STAY HERE.
MoreGreat staff and authentic atmosphere for Old San Juan... I will definitely stay here again!
MoreNice place. Room was a little small but good enough to open your suitcase and walk around. Only thing that was a little dissapointing was the TV it did not work.
MoreVery clean, small rooms, secure doors, AC, dated, We had a great stay in the heart of old San Juan.
MoreI give the property 3 stars because I know that there are people who have finer tastes than we do, but if youre looking for basic accommodations in a prime location, then this is your place. The property is small, and tucked away on one of the narrow streets of Old San Juan, just steps from everything. Security is good, the interior is artfully furnished with bright colours and tasteful art. Rooms are small, and we got an interior room with no window, only to find that there was a window opening onto the stairwell. I liken the room to what you would expect from a modest guest room in a private home. The vibe here sets the historical tone for your visit perfectly. The furnishings in the room were basic (again I use that word), but clean. If you need a blow dryer, ask the desk attendant, but it wasnt in the room. Ice is available for the asking as well. The walls are somewhat thin, so keep the noise down, but it was nice to hear happy revellers coming in late at night. We live in Puerto Rico and were looking for an inexpensive room in the heart of OSJ for a weekend getaway, and we were pleased with what we got.
MoreGreat local hotel
Ok, worst experience ever. I’ve stayed several times in Old San Juan and this is by far the worst “hotel” I’ve visited. First, bad communication, second, very bad administration, third, very bad conditions and NO WATER at the hotel. They didn’t had water for several days and they booked the entire hotel without any further notice. The hotel administration said “oh we are not responsible for that” well, just for everyone thinking of staying here, don’t waist your time and money, go and try another hotel around the old city. So disappointing.
MoreVery cute small hotel with clean bedsheets and towels. Very friendly staff, fernando, the only staff i met. Its in old san juan. I loved my stay.
MoreNice comfortable place close to everything
My favorite hotel. Is small with a family atmosphere in the center of old san juan and at very reasonable rates
MoreGreat spot. Clean and staff is friendly and accommodation.
For the money its off. And Im sorry to leave a negative review. But when I checked in, I am issues regarding communication because there is no one on staff on-site, only by telephone. My toilet did not flush properly, and there wasnt hot water out of the shower, and cold water out of the sink. I checked into a different room 2 days later which was properly supplied. I will note that when you do get a hold of the staff they are very accommodating and friendly.
MoreThis hotel, in pretty cute decorated and in very centric. But the staff even though the have good manners they need more training on how to handle some situation. In my case I could hear everything on the hallway I turned the TV on to buff the outside noise but I could turn the volume down n either so talk the front desk but they didnt how to solve the issue with the TV and did change the room.
MoreTotally uncomfortable, the room had no window, no hot water, and my son woke up with bug bites. When we inquired about the hot water, the staff was incredibly unhelpful and the manager made us leave the hotel at 7am on Sunday morning with all our luggage. She promised that if we left she would reimburse us for our payment, but she has not reneged on that too! This place is a complete fraud.
MoreTERRIBLE.Staff and owner are all incredibly rude. A group of customers were lined up outside to wait for entry for over an hour and NO ONE opened for us. Once they did they were unwilling to answer our questions about the establishment and PR. We asked them to please cooperate and explain to us why no one could come in or out without the presence of someone (which happened oftenand they said that’s the way it is whether we like it or not. It’s safe to say our family left to a more accommodating establishment.I do not recommend you waste your time here!
MoreGreat experience, friendly staff, clean room.
This place was amazing, great staff, super clean. They made sure we were comfortable. I recommend this place to stay in old san Juan. A+
MoreTwo nights in a row I have been unable to sleep here. Between the street noise which is the worst I’ve experienced in my travels, and the noise from hotel neighbors, I tried to get out of my 4-night reservation. But they switched me to one of the many windowless rooms in a different hallway. It’s 1AM and neighbors are carelessly screaming even after I called the hotel to complain.Amenities are extremely few. No iron. No hair dryer. No water, no ice. Nowhere to hang wet clothing. Itty bitty towels with one tiny spot to hang them. A sign says coffee and tea are available in the morning, but that never happens. Many times during the day there is no one even at the front desk to address concerns. You have to call someone in Florida. We’ve had two room changes. Our last one had a terrible odor. Our first room’s toilet was broken. Third room has someone else’s hairs on the sheets. The building smells odd, like an indoor swimming pool. Some rooms don’t get WiFi. Hardly any space in the room, it reminds me of a studio apartment in a bad neighborhood of New York City.Parking situation is awful. You have to find a garage a few blocks away, but it is often full. They don’t tell you anything in advance about this. The price makes no sense for the experience. It’s clearly the quality of a one-star hotel. When I see how little I’d have paid to stay in an AirBnB I’m sick. I made a huge mistake in staying here and could kick myself.
MoreSuper convenient location! You can walk in old town everywhere from here. Dont expect much, its a small hotel, our room had no windows not sure if other rooms do. But it was perfect for what we needed. Air conditioning, and comfy bed.
MoreI was very, very, very pleased with My Hotel in Puerto Rico. Extremely clean and exceptional staff. Im already planning my next stay.
MoreIts good. Clean, Perfect location.
The room was spacious and clean. The bathroom was clean too but it could use a little upgrade. Overall everything was nice, including the staff.
MoreI had a small room, and there were no windows; but for what I was paying, for that location, Id recommend. Its a nice, clean, and safe place to store your things and get some sleep. If youre spending all your time in your hotel in Old San Juan, youre doing it wrong.
MoreI can’t wait to visit again! Will definitely stay there again!
Just avoid. Bugs, no hot water no Wi-Fi no window no bed sheets stupidly expensive
MoreA lot of bugs, staff really friendly, great location
Really great place to stay in Old San Juan. I totally enjoyed my visit to the fullest. The best part is the location. The rooms are great too.
MoreGreat staff and is right in the middle of Old San Juan. The place is very quiet and private. Great if you just need some place to spend the night or rest after some sightseeing. The rooms are a bit small so it can be a little unconfortable for families to stay at one room.
MoreThe worst customer service we have ever experienced! We booked a room while we had an 8 hr layover and didnt notice that we had chosen 1 person instead of 2 person room. When we get there obviously there is my wife and I there to check in. Instead of letting us know of the mistake they go ahead and charge our card for the room and then tell us after we sign that we couldnt have the room because it was only for 1 person. Then they proceeded to try to get us to pay another $100 for another room. When we asked to speak to the manager we were told she was busy. After demanding 2 more times to speak to her, she called on one of the front desk employees cell phone. She told my wife that they would not refund our card and that i would have to get my own room. We told her that we would dispute the charge with our credit card company and she said "I will hunt you down for the money"! Needless to say we didnt stay there and were still charged. Its been over 2 weeks and they are also still holding $250 deposit on our credit card! Avoid this hotel at all costs!
MoreThis without doubt the worst hotel I have ever stayed at! 1 hour to check in and there as nobody in front of me. 3 + hours to check out any they could not give me a proper receipt for expense reporting to work. Do yourself a favor and stay anywhere but this hotel.
MoreVery small room WITHOUT windows - its not without view, the rooms simply have no windows! The shower is very poor and takes a lot of time to heat. There are only stairs and very narrow. Aircon is very strong though.
MoreSo bad. Almost booked here before my cruise but they wanted prepayment. So glad because it caused us to book most of our stay elsewhere. We were here for a few hours- not overnight, and the room had bugs, a non working TV (sound was loud and couldnt turn down), bathroom was dirty and had disposable cup from a previous guest- so the cleaning service is defiantly not good either. Though we were told there would be someone there when we checked out, they werent. Would not recommend, even for a few hours.
MoreNice hotel on Fortaleza Street inside Old San Juan. Great location and service! Hope to return there again soon!
MoreNo parking, no sign 😞
the front door is locked at all times, and it can not be opened from either side, you must find the owner and have her unlock the door, she is the only one who has a key. Plus - the internet was not working, no hot water, the tv did not work, its a dollar store from Haiti
MoreI paid the room for $230 and I have to deposit $250 room is too small for that price and no window NO hot shower , using shower curtain from dollar store. Bed is uncomfortable. TV did not work. Wifi did not work . fire alarm going off all night . front door is lock all the time. You cant open it, you have to wait for long time for somebody to open for you. That is dangerous . if something happens you cant get out. Good luck to get deposit money back
MoreClean nice people very convenient to everything
Good location, good price, clean rooms. Beware that when this hotel says "no view", they actually mean "no windows". Most rooms have no windows.
