Muyu Galápagos - Ecuadorian restaurant in Puerto Baquerizo Moreno, Ecuador
Muyu Galápagos in Puerto Baquerizo Moreno
Description
Privilege
We had a wonderful evening with very good quality food. The menu contains appealing dishes. The price level is upscale. Unfortunately, the service was not appropriate for the price level, but still very friendly. Completely unacceptable, however, was that I was extremely arrogantly turned away the following day on the grounds that the toilet was only for guests, when asked if I could wash my hands in the bathroom. Never again!
MoreBeautiful use of local produces, the curry I had for main was a-mazing!
Honestly one of the best meals Ive ever had! I went here multiple times and my favorite dish was the El Junco! Lots of amazing vegan options and the service was fantastic!
MoreI have lived and dined in and around the San Francisco Bay area as well as all over the world: France, Italy, Spain, etcMy dining experience at Muyu Galapagos was on par with 5 star restaurants I have experienced. If you want a memorable meal and beautiful view, especially at sunset...go!Btw, the wait staff is also excellent!
MoreWe had a wonderful night at Muyu Galapagos. The food, service and view were excellent. We can especially recommend it for eating gluten free. I have celiac disease and I didn’t need to explain anything. They even offered to fry the scorpion fish in banana flour to make it gluten free. They don’t use the same frying oil twice so no need to worry about contamination. Thanks to the staff for a great evening!
MoreMi pareja y yo salimos muy satisfechos. La cocina fue muy elaborada y con muy buen producto, comimos mucho y bien, el trato de los camareros fue muy completo y correcto.
MoreThis is a nice restaurant, with nice food options, but my gosh, the service here is SOOOO SLLLOOOWWWW!! It wasnt just me, I saw all the tables around me getting a little bit impatient. I sat down and waited almost 10 minutes before someone even came to see me and give me a menu, then about 10 minutes later take my order, even when I asked at the bar to order. The food itself was nice (although it did also take a long time to come), Im vegan and finding vegan food in galapagos is hard, but they had 2 options on the menu, one jackfruit stew and one beyond meat burger. So I got one, and planned to return the next night to have the second (I even said this to the staff!). I returned the next night, say down, waited about 10 minutes again (this time I expected the wait). But when they finally came to me they said they werent doing food tonight, just drinks.... so I was a but annoyed at that. And they didnt tell me the evening before.... its a nice place if you have the patience!! Additionally... the beyond meat burger turned out not to be vegan, it doesnt mention cheese on the menu, and when I ordered I did ask "is this vegan?", but it arrived with cheese on it, and on a brioche bun... but tbh I at this stage of my galapagos food journey, I was just happy for a vegetarian meal 🤣
MoreExpensive food with no flavor
Excelente comida y bebida en un restaurante donde se puede apreciar el atardecer. La playa en frente del restaurante está llena de lobos marinos. Una cocina y menú más moderno que otros restaurantes en el áreaExcellent food and drinks. Great location for sunset and beach in front filled with sea lions. A very modern cusine and menu. Definitely try if you are a "foodie"
MoreWe loved everything about our dinner here. I highly recommend it and the cocktails are a must.
MoreBest dinner and drinks we had in the Galapagos! Great ambiance, very friendly and helpful staff, and a beach full of sea lions to watch to boot
MoreWonderful place! Great food and very good service. Best dining on San Cristobal!
Even though it’s Higher priced then most of the restaurants , it’s a really special location for sunset and the chef is incredible. You can just tell Each creation they make has had a lot of time and thought out behind it. We felt like we were eating art pieces. I recommend going at least once for a special evening!
MoreThe scorpionfish and lobster were both excellent. This was our first taste of scorpionfish (brujoand weve been convinced!
MoreJust had dinner there - incredible food, presentation and staff. My photos don’t do it justice
MoreFantastic experience here. The wait staff was awesome and the food was out of this world! Highly recommend you go here for a special night out! Also, the cocktails were fantastic.
MoreWhat to say about Muyu …. This “Farm, Forest, and Sea to Table” restaurant lives up to its reputation. Beautiful everything really. The view is perfect, the design is clean and inviting without being too sterile, and the food and drinks were equally artful. I ate here twice and would recommend it to anyone. My favorite drink was the octopus ink – a stunning presentation and taste as well. I had several different dishes: scorpion fish fins, ceviche, tuna tartar, a mixed chocolate to finish the evening. Every single dish was so artfully presented and tasted just as beautiful. A friend had the grilled octopus and it was just as lovely! Every person at our table was very delighted with their drinks and meals. Lots of care went into making each dish! Ask you server about the unique flowers they use and vinegars they make in house. A lot of thought and love goes into this food. And you’re supporting the local everything since it’s all sourced from San Cristobal Island.
MoreBy very far best food and drinks in town! El mejor restaurante de la isla!!!
Very disappointing! Overpriced and poor quality! As a solo diner, I cant imagine if be too much of an imposition, but I was just that..an afterthought on service, a pest of a diner. Ordered a vodka drink, took 20 minutes for service and it was simply vodka, mandarin sofa, and a lime. Ordered cassava croquettes and 30 min later, the appetizer was good (the only recommendation I have). Waited another 25 minutes for a glass of rose (why does it take this long to pour a glass?). I ordered the octopus entree and was so disappointed. Few slices of grilled octopus over a mountain of mashed potatoes and a bland sauce. Boring. I guess the price was because of the pile of potatoes? It certainly wasnt for the octopus which was undercooked and no flavor. Bottom line, dont waste your time or your money!
MoreGreat place with very tasty food and a beautiful view especially for sunsetHad the 4 dish menu and it was amazing, beautiful presentation as well
MoreA lovely spot to have breakfast in San Cristobal. It’s a few blocks away from the main dock in San Cristobal, but it’s worth the walk. First, it’s got a beautiful beach 🏖 and ocean 🌊 view with many seals and birds playing on the beach. Second, the service was perfect - really attentive and timely. Third, the food and drinks were excellent - we had the guacamole, toast, and veggies. Thanks Muyu for the great experience.
Morefancy restaurant in Galapagos, food is good, service is good.
We said we wanted lunch and breakfast at 10:45 am and were told it was ok, but when ordering lunch were told that we would have to wait until noon when breakfast wasnt available. Breakfasts were ordered and we werent told that avocado, half of the breakfast, wasnt available until plates arrived. Drinks didnt come until one of us walked to the bar to ask why. Then the orders were wrong. Portions were small and prices were high. Quality was good, thank goodness. Our experience was apparently an outlier, but still very disappointing. We left after eating to get more food elsewhere.
MoreBest food we had on the islands, by far. Very, very well done. Every mouthful was worth savoring. Not cheap, but worth every penny. We split a $35 dish, and it was more than enough for both of us, then added a coconut lemonade (slushydrink and the chocolate and plantain desserts, both unique and delicious. The names of the items are understated -- everything is top-notch and so perfectly done. Great view, even from inside the restaurant, which featured a floor-to-ceiling glass wall, and clean, modern decor. All the staff was at least bilingual (Spanish & English), and the service was wonderful.
MoreNot cheap, but really incredible! This is a seriously talented chef. The food was the best Ive had in Ecuador. Perfect place to eat during sunset, as they have outdoor seating as well as indoor seating where you can still see the sunset through the giant glass. Japanese inspired decor, with masterfully designed dishes. Fresh baked bread with house made butter, icy ginger lemonade, and a platter of make your own tacos. Absolute treat. Their menu was short, they clearly only serve what they are really good at. Expect at least 20-30 per person minimum. With drinks and dessert it could be 35+ per person.
MoreFresh, delicious food. Ate here religiously for a few days. Their iced lattes are to die for, and their lemonades and other beverages are amazing as well. Tacos were the best thing on the menu, although we enjoyed most of their other food. Only thing I wouldnt say is worth it is the dessert; its expensive for what you get and although its good, its nothing special in my opinion.
MoreWe had lunch @ Muyu on New Year. The dishes are creative and excellent! The service is best in town. Highly recommended.
MoreThe Best
Ate there a few times. Not cheap, but almost everything we ordered was delicious. The meal of the day, despite being the cheapest item on the menu and a very decent bang for the buck, was always top notch. All coupled with a very beautiful presentation. Both child and vegetarian husband were equally happy - though, in all honesty, selling vegetarian octopus and tuna (for the same price as the real dealis ridiculous on a number of levels. Explain what those dishes are, and have them separate on the menu. But that is my only gripe.
MoreDelicious. Flexible w vegetarians. The burritos were too good. Drinks were great. Very clean and modern. Be prepared to pay more here than anywhere else on the island.
MoreGreat spot for sunset and to unwind after exploring all day. The ceviche was delicious and the basil mojito was so refreshing!
MoreExcellent food and customer service. Im not knocking the Galapagos but this is a step above other restaurants.
MoreWhat can I say? Simply fabulous! I love the concept, like their high quality service style, the gorgeous food and the ambience. What do you want more?Just go there and enjoy the unique place!
MoreWow, the ceviche was amazing, delicate and flavorful with lime, red pepper, and (I thinkdill; served with little fried plantain cubes rather than traditional corn. The bread was wonderful, some made from cacao seed, local sourdough, served with a flowery herb butter and lemongrass infused olive oil. One of the best meals I have had lately.
MoreIncredible ceviche... chocolate dessert was excellent and unbeatable staff!! Thanks so much for the hospitality.
MoreNothing gluten free here for breakfast which was disappointing.
Got the catch of the day. Fish was amazing, easily the best Ive had in the galapagos!
MoreDelicious food with good services. And definitely a good price, Id expect a much higher price for what you get!Book a table for outside of youre not a big fan of strong airco
MoreAmazing. Best restaurant on the island. Prices are totally reasonable (actually a good valueif you are used to fine-casual US/European dining. Besides, this is the Galapagos, there are sea lions on the patio, you wont find that in Kansas. Food wise, great quality, lovely presentation, and really good service by South American standards.
MoreEverybody, make sure to visit this amazing place when you are in Galapagos! In our one-year-long honeymoon trip across the Americas we have not found any other restaurant that would come close to Muyu!We were so enchanted by the great service and the delicious and wonderfully presented food that we literally came back every single day of our stay in San Cristobal and Muyu did not cease to impress. To the contrary, on our last night, they surprised us with a custom-made vegan menu that the chef came up with just for us, as we have tried all their beautiful vegan dishes from the menu before…A huge and heartfelt thank you to the whole team, especially to our charming maître, Paulo for treating us like friends (even showing us around in the lovely rooftop garden!and taking so good care of us every day! We wish Muyu (or new sister restaurant of herswas somewhere closer to us in Europe, we would be regulars for sure, we already miss it so much!
MoreGreat place just in front of the beach. The food is gourmet and savoury. Presentation is elegant. The Scandinavian atmosphere, furniture and dishes is really sophisticated. Wines are good. We loved it so much we went there 3 times (2 dinners and 1 lunch). Tiny downside: the service was a bit chaotic (from European eyes). Other than that I definitely recommend this place !
MoreExcellent food, a bit pricier than other places on the island but worth it. Bread, catch of the day, swordfish wings, and dessert were all excellent. Staff was attentive and friendly. A must visit!
MoreHigh-end Ecuadorian cusine. Its the best restaurant in town and the prices are reasonable. The menu is limited but every dish is good. Get whatever the fish of the day is.
MoreTasty food, so nice and espectacular well presented! It was like a picture, full of Ecuadorian colors! The best is to go and wacht the sunset. If you sit outside the mosquitos will feed of you 😁 but the staff will kindly offer you anti-mosquito splash and problem solved. The prices are not that expensive and they also have Happy Hour! The sunset is super GUAO! You need to go there!
MoreNice place, friendly staff, nice food, expensive.
Food is amazing. Its one of the best, if not the best place to eat on the island. We literally ate there for some meal every day. Prices are comparable to any waterfront restaurant. Recomend the labitos and the local dish. Both are great. You know a place is good when the managers are busting their tails working, right along with the rest of the staff. They make you feel at home. Highly recommended.....
MoreHidden gem. Easy to miss. Amazing view and tasty food and drinksWe enjoyed all the meals we had here. Will defiantly eat here again. You have to try the scorpion fish!
MoreIs an upmarket restaurant situated right on Playa de Oro beach and there are plenty of seals nearby, to keep you occupied whilst waiting for your meal. It is probably the nicest looking restaurant on the Island and this is reflected in the price, which is not outrageously expensive. This restaurant is not for profit helping empower women and helping Ecuadoreans enter the Gastronomic world, with hospitality training at this venue. We stopped in for their lunch specials. We sampled the lobster soup for $6, which was delicious. The fish was served with roast vegetables and mash was also nicely prepared $12. All of the meals were beautifully presented. The A la Carte menu is a little pricier and it would have been good to try their lobster tasting menu, however we ran out of time.
MoreDefinitely the best cocktails on the island!!! Happy hour is from 5pm-6pm! Dont miss it!!!! DELICIOUS food - bar menu, full menu, etc. Beautiful view of the sunset. This was our favorite spot 5 evenings in a row! The sea lions are quite vocal and you can watch them as you sip your Muyu Punch!❤️
