26th St, Yangon, Myanmar (Burma), Rangoon
This preserved 1896 building is the city's last Jewish house of worship & Burma's only synagogue.
unfortunately was closed when i was visiting. but a very interesting piece of history of the city
Interesting to discover a synagogue in Myanmar, but nothing special from architectual point of view. The doorman was very helpful.
I really love this synagogue. It is the one and only synagogue left in the whole of Myanmar. It is more than a hundred years old now. In the early 19th Century, there was a huge number of Jewish community in Yangon. This synagogue hold at least 120 Torah. Now only 2 remains in this synagogue. It is maintained by Mr. Sammy Samuel, a Burmese Jew in Myanmar. It was recognized by Yangon Heritage Trust as a historical heritage of Yangon. Though, only a handful of Jewish community remains in Yangon, this synagogue receive prayers from experts Jews working in Yangon. When you visit Yangon, I would like you to visit the synagogue.
Great and interesting synagogue in Yangon!
The twin towers caught my eyes!
Memorable story about Iraqi Jews in Burmese diaspora.
Musmeah Yeshua Synagogue (Hebrew: בית כנסת משמיע ישועהis the last remaining Jewish house of worship in Downtown Yangon and Burmas only synagogue. The synagogue stands between Indian paint shops and Muslim traders on a small street near the city centre. A plaque at the entrance of the building states that the present stone building, which was built between 1893 – 1896, replaced an earlier, smaller wooden structure that was erected in 1854. It is one of 188 sites on the Yangon City Development Council’s list of Heritage Buildings. It serves the few remaining Jews of the country, mostly descendants of Baghdadi Jews from Iraq.
A gem...last hold on for a Jewish community of only 24 in Yangoon
Interesting place to visit. Old, small and not so good condition, but rare place to visit inside.
The synagogue is historical and modest. Has antique wooden chairs with benches. Great lighting with full of vintage pictures on Jewish community before world war 2. Yangon has a good number of Jewish community. This is the only Synagogue in Myanmar and it’s very charming. Worth visiting this enchanting Synagogue in Yangon. This is being maintained since 1896.
The only synagogue in Myanmar. Built in 1800s
Very old synagogue worth a visit but due to lack of Jeuwish people leaving nearby it is now more of a museum then a synagogue
Synagogue located in the middle of Yangon surrounded by Mosques , churches , Hindu temples and many pagodas. Its an interesting and a great place to visit.Very quiet most of the time.
Location is surrounded by market, indian quarter and muslim quarter. Such an amazing to explore only one Synagogue in Yangon.
One of a few synagogue in Myanmar.
It was interesting to see the Synagogue between all those Yangon noisy streets. It is small, nice but not much visitors inside, only me.There are pictures of Israel leaders who came visit Burma before, very interesting.
It is the only synagogue in yangon.
The only synagogue in Myanmar and the little community of Jewish still coming to worship here.
Musmeah Yeshua Syngogue (1896 ). This is the only Synagogue in Myanmar, Yangons Jewish community once numbered 2500 before mass migration during WW II. The Samuels, one of the citys last remaining Jewish families, has maintained the synagogue for generation.( Brief description from the synagogue)

The only Jewish Synagogue in Yangon, Myanmar. Very few Jews remain in Yangon and still this lovely old synagogue is open from morning till 2 pm. Great to see the synagogue with its old world charm.
Tourism and good land mark.
Only one and famous for tourists .And Historical place.Very old Israel temple.
not bad
Peace and quiet in the mist of chaotic Chinatown.
A historical monument building. I happened to visit it on the rosh hashanah day ,thelocal community was only several families but they were celebrating and introducing history to the visitors. Well deserve a visit . especially when the location among a crowded old street with Indian religion, Buddhists, Muslim . The mixture of many cultures itself is the most amazing part of Yangon.
tl; dr: Well preserved relic of a dying communityFor a city with only 25 jews left (the last time I looked it up), this synagogue is a symbol of the resilience of the Jewish community. Yes its not particularly beautiful or noteworthy or large, but it is of cultural and historical significance, and Im glad we stopped to see it, even if it was a bit difficult to find and looked shut off when we finally located it.If youre not interested in things like this though (and why would you be visiting Myanmar if you werent?), you should probably skip this, but I found it utterly enthralling.
Beautiful historical building... Must see...
Beautiful, quaint, old shul, hub of a very nice Jewish community and tours
