Gold-mining heritage museum featuring artifacts, restored miners' quarters & a panoramic derrick.
Great free museum on the goldfields area . Lots of old photos , as well as a great collection of gold .
This place is absolutely brilliant. Great displays with heaps of information and photos. You even get to go up one of the viewing/drilling platforms. Free entry but you can donate $5 with a tap and go. Best $5 I have spent in a long time.
Great place to see while in town.
Great info and really well laid out. Great view from the top of the headframe!
Fantastic place to bring kids. Great history lesson too. Well worth the trip
Very interesting and well done. All exhibits and information well set out and easy to follow.
This museum is FREE - why would you not go?! There is a lot on the history of the area, including mining, the narrowest pub, some old buildings, stories of Aboriginal people and their treatment and stories, and various knick knacks. Definitely worth going. Good views of the city from three-quarters up the impressive headframe.
The museum entry is free and is an absolute must see during your visit to Kalgoorlie-Boulder. The displays and presentation of the Goldfields history is remarkable, but be warned to leave yourself plenty of time to immerse yourself in the wealth of information. The staff are also extremely friendly and helpful.
I was so amazed with the museum best l have ever been to
A must visit place in Kalgoorlie
Took the kids here for Lego exhibition. They had a great time. We need more things like this in town for the young ones.
Great free museum.well worth the look.
The guys were very friendly and helpful and good value food and was really good value.Wine was at bottle shop price exellent value 😌
Excellent museum. Great introduction and explanation of the exhibits by staff member at the door. Well worth the time and entry fee.
What a great display of Australian history. Also the staff are the most helpful and informative group of people I have ever meet. A must visit if your in town.
A whole is not long enough - fantastic
Compared to the other museums in town, this is by far the best by a very long shot. Id rate it in the Top 3, if not Top 5 museums in Kal at the very least. If you could only go to one museum in Kal, I highly recommend this one. The others didnt have as much content to see. The family really enjoyed it and staff were friendly.
Great insight into the history of Kalgoorlie with displays and historical artefacts. Added bonus of free tours from a child of the Goldfields.
Friendly staff and something cool to do when visiting Kalgoorlie. I thought the Lego exhibition was a bit overpriced for what it was but other than that, everything else was cool.
Wonderful museum catering for all ages. The Gold Vault was a special hit with our grandson!
Free and interesting info on history of the area pre settlement and due to the gold, the vault is worth a visit and same for the historic buildings at the back
For a free museum this place is a must see. Please check the visiting hours as it takes a long time to have a good look. Staff very friendly and helpful 🤠.
Very interesting museum on the history of Kalgoorlie and mining industry. Three levels to explore and thirty minute tour at ten thirty am gives a good introduction. Some outbuildings to explore from early times.
Female Staff member gave us a friendly welcome and explained the museum. Worth a visit.
This is one of the excellent museums of Western Australia. All of these museums are well equipped and maintained. This collection focuses mainly on Goldfields history, with special attention to the technology and business dealings of the day.Western Australias narrowest pub has been reproduced (or possibly moved here).
Interesting history and wonderful pieces on show. Walk and explore. They have different exhibits at times and staff were so friendly and inviting. An amazing view of Kalgoorlie from the top.
Very good information. Recommend to visitVery good customer service 👍
Great history. Free entry and very informative staff.
Absolutely fabulous little museum. Views of the town from the drill rig. Extensive exhibits on local area. Several buildings have been moved on site to show life in the Gold Rush era.
Interest museum with lots to look at. Free.
Highly recommend. Staff are very friendly and knowledgeable. There a lot to look at across different levels from vaults to lookout platform. Will definitely come back to check it out again next time I’m in town
Wonderful Museum! really interesting, filled with history of KalgoolieS gold rush! really well done, a lot to see & free!!!
Love this museum. Great local history & excellent touring exhibits. Excellent for all ages. The lookout is great & dont forget the buildings out the back. See if you can find De Bernales secret escape tunnel in the replica of his office & meeting room (its there & you can open it - just dont force anything!).
Amazing experience! The lovley lady that served me was so kind and so helpful (it was her first day on the job, but you wouldnt have been able to tell with her knowledge on the museum). Definitely a must do if you visit kalgoorlie. I left the museum with so much history on the Goldfields.
This museum was the best in Kalgoorlie. The staff were lovely and friendly. I was very impressed with this museum. It is definitely worth a visit. The viewing platform offers a good view of Kalgoorlie. Entrance is only a gold coin donation. Overall a great place to visit! Thank you to the friendly staff there!
Interesting and well displayed item and reconstructed buildings of the early years.Well worth a visit.
A really nice museum, staffed by enthusiastic people. Cant fault it. If youre on Kal and have a couple of hours spare, drop in and have a looksee.
Great holiday activities. Spent good 3hrs there with my daughter today :souvenir store has reasonably priced items. Lovely place to visit
Visited the Museum for the first time to have a look at the current photo exhibition, and was pleasantly surprised by everything the museum had to offer! From information about the fauna and flora of the region, to the replica buildings of the Goldrush Era; and going up in the big red tower; its definitely worth a visit! Be prepared to spend quite a bit of time there; everything is so interesting!
Lots to learn from the trip to this museum. Theres no entrance fees. Good place for both adults and kids.
This is a great place to visit to learn about the history of the towns. Entry is by a donation and it is well worth it.Theres lots of information boards and artifacts to see. Plenty of buildings that are set up historically. Theres a tower that gives great views of the town. We also saw a 3d movie about the sinking of the Sydney 2.If this review has been helpful please like it.
Great displays of how things where in the early days and the early mining days the equipment that was used how hard life would have been it was truly amazing. Well worth the time spent there.
Worth a visit definitely has a lot to offer and show! The history in the goldfields is spectacular so worth seeing the museum but don’t let this be it get out there and see the ghost towns and see the sites still lovely museum!
Put this museum at the top of your list of things to do while in Kal. Ideal for kids especially on a hot day as it’s got aircon and even a water play sandpit outside. Excellent examples of historical artifacts, small Indigenous collection included and lots of gold nuggets !
Well set up museum with different floors of different aspects. Seeing the view of Kalgoorlie from the top is a treat. We found it to be a good introduction to Kalgoorlie with a large school group
A wonderful place to explore the rich and diverse history of the amazing gold fields region of Western Australia. Helpful staff and informative displays.
Great museum. Gold vault stories and artefacts were fascinating. From the top deck of the mining derrick (accessed via elevatoryou could see most of Kalgoorlie and Boulder. The old pub and other buildings provided a picture of what things were like on the goldfields a hundred years ago. The visiting Aboriginal art display from Northern Territory was excellent. Staff were friendly and helpful.
A great museum with fantastic staff. I recommend visiting the vault on a guided tour very informative. Some amazing artifacts and displays giving the viewer a real sense of the harsh environment these men endured during the early years.
A local storehouse of history and events of times gone by. Time well spent going through the exhibits. One of the special feature exhibits NOT involving nature photography was very tedious. Worth a visit.
A museum with interesting facts on the gold history of Kalgoorlie etc worth a visit if you follow history. A donation of $5.00 for entry
