Museum of Workers' Housing - Museum in Tampere, Finland
Best way to see how people lived in Tampere during 1880sto 1970s before the city block was turned into a museum.
This museum is one of my favorites. I love how you can experience a piece of life from historic times. Make sure to stop by the cafe afterwards as their selection is very fresh!Warning: If you are allergic to mold, sadly, avoid visiting. Also, it might be difficult for some people to enter the houses if you have a mobile disability.
I went here with my best friend and even tho it was raining, the history made up for the weather. Absolutely amazing how you can learn about the people living in each room and about what was happening around the world at the time. Just gorgeous place to visit. The sauna was very interesting too.
A simple but fascinating museum showing the every step in history they took to be here today.
Kind of creepy 👹
i do not think its worth the price (9€)
Great museum! You get very good impressions how „normal people“ lived during 100 years.
Werry interesting and educational.

Very educational place
Idyllic place. See how the district of Amuri used to look like and how the workers lived. Sip a tea or two at the Amurin Helmi cafe.
Great and cosy place, must stop for a cup of coffee or breakfast :-)
Warm reception by staff at the cash desk, tidy and plenty of space inside. Good food and on Street four hour parking. Good location.
Definitely recommended for anyone who likes history! So much to see and much info at hand.
Traditional place, very nice
Hours shown as open all year, made the journey out here in mid-September to find a note on the gate "Closed for winter". Pretty frustrating to have incorrect information posted, would have saved the trek out here.
A must go for everyone who visits Tampere.
Love this place , a quite place in away from the fast pace of the city . I often go to the cafe they have for coffee and a bun .
This was an atmospheric and fascinating museum about the history of this suburb of Tampere. The various rooms depict different periods in history and it was interesting to see how things changed as the years passed. The price was fair and good value, and the adjoining cafe was also lovely.
Very nicely maintained examples of Finnish homes for factory workers in the city. Take the tour. Cafe attached is nice for trying traditional pastries.
I went to the coffee place, amazing pastries and the breakfast is good - the enviroment is quiet and is like to travel to the past - they has take good care of the details and they are kind. Saddly the museum was closed at that time.

Very well preserved labor class housing from XIX/XX

One of the places in Finland that I remember with much fondness. A museum about every day life and common household objects in a small, industrialised city in the beginnings of 20th century. It is appropriately located in an old part of Tampere and consisting of a cluster of traditional wooden houses. Each room in every house has its particular furniture and some personal items of the lodgers, along with a description of who resided there, what was his occupation and family status etc. Most of the people were workers in factories, like Finlayson and lived with their family members in just one room. A sole kitchen was attached to every house to be used commonly by all families.Sauna and bakery can also be visited. There is a lovely restaurant/coffee shop in the grounds offering Finnish fare. On fair weather there are tables outdoors too.Warmly recommended!
Best traditional bakings - pulla and karjalanpiirakka munavoilla :-)
Atmospheric cafe with a nice selection of pastry. Last block left from the old wooden district of Amuri
A fantastic example of time travel through the visit of many well-furnished houses in the style of the years from 1800 onwards. Staff very kind and friendly. It is possible to stop in the cafeteria to taste Finnish delicacies.
Onee of my favourite places to visit in Tampere.
Idyllic opportunity to take a peek at how Finland was at the time of industrialization and how people lived in cities way back in the time. Lovely short stories of the occupants and a small but worth it cafe-bakery.
Great view to the local history point the working class people
A very pleasant 1-hour walk through the Amuri and Tampere history of the near centuries. 7e soup lunch in the cafeteria absolutely worth!
Amazing breakfast
Piece of Tampere and Finnish history. Apartments and stores from different eras from 1880 to 1977. Nice. Recommended.
Nice look into the way working families lived generations and generations ago in this textiles producing "Manchester of the North".
A great place to have breakfast, especially on the weekends.
Old rustic finnish living historic buildings kept the way they should be from bakers to cobblers to old sauna
