Millions of objects of art, science, nature, geology & culture, plus a planetarium & research lab.
So much fun!Loved the quikrs, dinosaurs and more
Beautiful building with convenient parking. Free admission and friendly staff. On the day of our visit, much of the museum was inaccessible.
Regularly updated exhibits keep my daughter and I engaged and learning for free. Couldnt ask for more! And their Saturday art classes are wonderful for us! Im a low income parent making the most that she can out of nothing, and TTU Museum is my greatest asset!Moody Planetarium is one of our favorite places to spend less than $10 and get a whole day of entertainment from. And the gift shop is where I find some of the best stocking stuffers and Christmas presents that you cant find anywhere else. I cant even tell you how much authentic jewelry I have seen, and at affordable prices!Love yall for everything you do! Thank you!!!
I love this placeπ I have taken my granddaughter here many many times because this is one of her favorite places to go. She amazes me with that innocent childish enthusiasm as if shes seeing it for the 1st time every visit. They have added a few new things such as the tornado/hurricane emulator which is pretty cool ( I believe its $3 but at least 4 kids or 2 adults can fit inside at once). If your looking for something to do and dont have or want to spend a ton of money this is a great place to visit. DEFINITELY WORTH TAKING THE KIDS OR FAMILY (especially visiting familyABSOLUTELY WORTH THE TIME AND ITS FREE PEOPLE.**WARNING** my photos may contain images of family members.
My family and I have visited the museum off and on for over 40 years. It is absolutely my favorite place to visit. The education that I get EVERY TIME I visit is amazing.
I went on Sunday at opening, it was not busy. Enjoyed a show at the planetarium and walked around the museum while waiting for the show. The museum is free but the planetarium cost money.
Been going here since I was a kid its always been fun during special event they have people in costume throughout the building they will give you a little history knowledge and sometimes they have chuckwagons cooking beans and cornbread and coffee its amazing definitely should go check this place out
Best time ever.
Great shows and displays for anyone looking for local facts and art.
So glad we gave the museum a shot loved it laser show was epic
I absolutely love this place. Its very welcoming I tell people I met from out of town to go here. I remember when my children were small I used to always take them there to pass time or to new exhibits or even to go to the stargazing at night with the telescope. Not sure they still do that but my boys enjoyed it. I love going back now and taking my grandbabies π thank you we have beautiful memories here.
The exhibits that were there were wonderful. Loved the paintings and other artwork. Admired all the fashion trends of past pageant queens. The dinosaurs were hard to beat though. With that said, it seemed quite empty for the amount of space they had available.
One of the most visited museum in country. One must visit to experience the setup, art, artifacts and expecallity the prehistoric dino
So many flies that it really detracted from the experience. If i give this place another chance, i will not try eating outdoors unless they address the fly problem. A REAL problem.
Visited the museum while in Lubbock for a graduation. It was excellent. Very hot outside so I saw about 90%. Will visit again when the weather is cooler.
The kids had a blast and we liked it too. The museum was free but the laser show was $6 for adults and $4 for the kids
If you are going to pursue Graduate Course in Civil Engineering, It is definitely not a good choice. Even if you mail your own academic advisor to ask course studies, they will revert you back when you about to graduate. I dont know about the other departments but civil department is worst.
I go there once a year. Love the history part of Lubbock. They do seem to be getting smaller. Some areas arent open anymore. But all in all it is free and informative.
Very nice history of Texas cattle and oil industries, interesting walk through time viewing restored buildings from early cabins to one of the 6666 barns. Also a really amazing static display of an actual stream engine with cattle cars next to loading corrals. My favorite was the very old squeeze chute! So much to see. They do not charge, only accept donations. Highly recommend this place. Make time to spend a casual couple of hours walking through the indoor and outdoor displays. You wont regret it.
Really enjoyed the tour over spring break, kiddos loved the dinosaurs!!
I never knew we had such a fabulous museum in Lubbock! Dinosaurs, scrimshaw, quilts--quiet an eclectic & fascinating collection!
Multi-faceted museum that is free. Tasteful displays of art, fossils, pottery, dresses, biomes and much more. Yes, this is a must-see.
It was a breath of fresh air visiting this museum. It has replicas of several dinosour sceletons. It has also real life replicas of various forest animals and birds. This place is really educational for young kids. They have historical visuals related to Lubbock. There are various old fashioned dresses there mostly from 60s. There is a small theater showing the change of volcanos over the years. The museum is free for everyone.
This museum discuss the history of art and science in the city of lubbock and texas. You can browse any art work, history, and the best part is the miss America customs.I liked the show for the stars and space discovery, as well.Entrance fee: Free.Visiting duration: 2-4 hours.Free parking near by.
Im new in town and learning a little bit about lubbock was great! Im into dinosaurs and I was amazed by yalls collection especially the t-rex.
A nice, calm place to visit. So many exquisite and lovely things to see. Creativity and art is always my favorite! The front desk worker was very informative and helpful as well. Their gift shop was small but they had interesting and cute stuff for kids.
Enjoyed the museum very much!!!
Visited the museum while our son was in class. What a treat to see the Linda Fisher quilts and guns on exhibit. I also enjoyed the history of boots! The museum was clean, easy access, and the staff were friendly.
Great exhibits which covers the history of this region.
I really enjoyed the quote displays by Linda Fisher. I wasnt expecting that. It was such a treat. The two in my photos were my two favorites.
We had a wonderful time! My 5 and 7 year old boys loved the exhibits and they got to ride ponies! This place was rich in culture and in history. Well maintained and ran by a friendly staff.
This museum is a must see!!! It is well planned out and very authentic. The landscaping is correct for each building. Well thought out and takes at least 2 hours to walk thru the entire display. They HSBC proud dressed people in the schoolhouse with a teacher and students showing how school was conducted in that schoolhouse. They have a blacksmith actually making things and he will tell you what he is doing and the methods used. This really takes one back into another time period to see how people lived back in the early days of ranching heritage. Make sure you take water with you if touring in the summer. Very hot out there. They do sell water along the way for $1/ bottle. Ask if the paths are concrete, so it is handicap friendly, and very fsmily friendly.
Amazingly enormous museum. Free admission. Lots and lots of dinosaur fossils and taxidermy local wildlife and AIR CONDITIONING. Whats not to love?
We went to the National Ranching Heritage Center at the Museum. This place is great. We took my 78-year old mother who was using a walker, along with several friends and family members yesterday. I did not know what to expect but it definitely didnt include the wealth of outside building exhibits they have. They are incredible. With buildings that span from the late 1700s to the early 1900s, the self-guided tour walks you through the history of how people lived in West Texas. One building is a replica; the rest have been transported to the Museum. Rooms have been outfitted with original furniture and decor and you can peek in to almost every building. In addition to homes, a schoolhouse, a church, and other buildings, there are several corrals, barns, and ranch outbuildings. Im disappointed to say those are the only ones we didnt get to as it got too warm and my mother was too tired.Indoors there was a beef breeds exhibit, as well as an exhibit on guns, and a charming little video presentation with cowboy stories. The gift shop was cute and not terribly overpriced. The staff was wonderful and we enjoyed a long friendly chat with the gentleman at the entrance counter on our way out. All exhibits were handicap accessible with the exception of several bronze sculptures which are located on a grassy patch along the front drive. We were able to borrow a wheelchair for Mom. Bathrooms were clean. This is a wonderful way to spend a relaxing few hours. I would go in cooler weather or as soon as they open as so much of it is outside. Definitely will go again sometime to see the rest of it. I hear that have a fun Halloween event and gorgeous Christmas lights.
Excellent exhibits on the Mesozoic Era. The skeleton gallery putting everything to scale inspired the imagination. There was also a surprisingly delightful exhibit on boot making in Lubbock covering Willie Lusk.
Fantastic way to spend an afternoon! There is a wide variety of exhibits to enjoy. I loved the boots exhibits! Dont miss the photography exhibit upstairs...sobering, but very interesting. The staff was amazingly friendly and helpful. We will visit again!
We took our kiddos as a lil family outing of exploring our history and architecture of Lubbock Texas and surrounding areas. So awesome we enjoyed our walk and the cool old houses.
I had a wonderful time here, its been a while since Ive been here ever since the Pandemic of 2020. We discovered new informational places and animals plus extraordinary things of artππ. Great place to walk around the Ranch Heritage and look around the old houses ποΈ. Thank you.
I always enjoy coming here so much to learn about I get so excited π I love to learn about the dinosaurs and The Planets. Among other things.
Getting ready for Candlelight at the Ranch! My family loves this place! It is a great experience to what life was like on the plains. I is definitely worth the visit!
Staff is incredibly helpful, exhibits are not the same old stuff you see everywhere else. Extensive dino exhibit. Didnt have as much time as I wanted to look around but really enjoyed the time I was able to spend. One of the must-dos if youre in Lubbock.
Love the beautiful sight ,nice and family friendly place to walk and check amazing ranches from 18th century.
Oh yeah, if you are interested in rural history (or were raised in 40s or 50s rural America), you need to see Dr. Marian Ann Montgomerys "Cotton and Thrift" exhibit. In addition, there are other exhibits of dinosaurs and early mammals, Native American art, pottery and textiles, a great collection of Chess sets and some really nice Western art.
It good and very nice museum, I hope they add more rooms or interactive hands on exibits.
This place is free admission so theres no excuse not to go there. They have some really extraordinary pieces of art that you must see, and read some of the paintings they have. Great place to take the family and teach them a little history.
Awesome place to visit and experience some of rhe historical buildings and cuatoms of the old west!!! There were 3 families in our group 6 adults and 5 kids!!! Everyone had a great time and would definitely recommend going if you are in Lubbock!!!
Very cool! Fun to see and experience the history of cattle in the US. Lots of work! Hats off to the good folks who have brought this together and continue to expand the offerings. Really enjoyed it all!
I have taken my daughter here a couple of times. I also have visited on my own. I really like the Dinosaur exhibit, it is small but very informative. This museum has much more than natural history exhibits, and appeals to many different interests. I hope the citizens of Lubbock recognize the value of this museum and support it through the forseable future.
Been here quite a few times during my tenure as a Texas Tech graduate student. The museum never disappointed me, in fact, Ive fallen in love over and over again!
I dislike that most of the dinosaur displays are resin, and not real bones. The Dino displays have also not changed a whole lot over all in the last 20 years. The weather exhibit was interesting, but felt very cramped in the small room they have it crammed into. The Vampire/Werewolf exhibit was interesting. For a small museum over all they make good use of the space they have. I dont recommend seeing the art installation of the CDs on the floor with the flashing lights. Gave me a serious headache and could probably cause a seizure in someone prone to them.
