Plan to spend several hours at this museum. It incorporates world history through modern in multiple exhibits. It further shows military influence in fashion, literature, music and many other cultural norms.

Located in a beautiful building, combining the classic and the new (Daniel Liebeskind), this is an incredibly comprehensive and fascinating museum. Even if youre not into military history, the museum covers every imaginable aspect of war from art to strategy, music to the animals that helped the military. There are also great views of the city of Dresden from the top of the viewing tower. The museum is not afraid to confront Germanys history and certainly does not attempt to glorify anything that happened in its past. It is an educational journey through continental Europes history over the past 700 years, with separate sections on the two World Wars and post-1945. From V2 rockets to pistols, manned torpedo submarines to paintings of battles, its a wonderfully curated museum and the three hours we spent there flew by, without seeing everything.Youll also get to see an array of tanks, helicopters and other military vehicles surrounding the main building.Very highly recommended and exceptionally good value at just €5 entry.

Definitely worth a visit! If you want to see everything in details, planning at least 3 hours for the visit will be necessary. It is really a big museum with 4 floors and a lot of things to see.

Good museum covering warfare and Germany through the ages. Most displays are in both German and English. The cafeteria is also very good. Dont forget to checkout the vehicles they have on display outside.

Great museum. So much to see and very cool if you are interested in military history. The museum covers quite a long period of military history, not just WWII.Plan at least 2-3 hours if you really want to see everything even just briefly. Price is also not bad for the amount of history on display.

More of a history museum rather than just a military museum. The collection is quite interesting and guides you through Europe history. The room dedicated to the horrors of the bombardments of WW2, including the one of Dresden, is wretching. Everything is translated into English, and the museum is quite big.

Like every european national military history museum these days. No real cohession in the displays and to much.... love and peace man. I know they have beautifull and unique military vehicles in there depot. I have been 2 times all ready hoping they would display the last remaining Volkmarine KKR18 coastal rocket launcher, the Rubesh. But none of the spoken employees have seen it in recent years. What do we get, flowerpower stuff, sigh... 3 stars for the cool airco and the low price

Incredible museum! We spent almost a whole day there (from opening till 4pm). Extremely comprehensive and interesting. The exhibits were so well curated and easy to follow. We previously visited the Viennas military museum so there were some overlaps but if we hadnt, we might have taken more time to complete the exhibits! Had such a great time and it ended on a really good note up on Dresden View! We were really, really very impressed at the quality. English translation was very well done too! Thanks for all the hard work!

Museum has a great deal of historical information, personal artifacts, photos, etc. Most of the descriptions are posted very low, on the floor, or in positions difficult to read. (Had a neck ache after 3 hours thereEverything is posted in German and English. Layout is peculiar for such a large building. Some displays are crammed together with huge empty spaces around them. Tanks are showcased outdoors. I would not recommended museum for children, people under 57" (wont be able to see horizontal displays/descriptionsor persons with disabilities.

Prety complex. If you go here see it all, you need hours. They have guides, mainly in Deutsche language, but although they speak English. Some artefacts has strong antiwar efect. They have there much more heavy weapons than donated to Ukraines defend forces :-)

Spent all day here. Well narrated and insightful exhibits. Both shocking and awe inspiring. Some photographs are may be moving and bring you to tears but are also graphic in violence and gore so not recommended for younger kids. Bring your own earphones as their audio guide doesnt work at that moment.

Simply amazing museum (so glad we decided to take the time to visit). First, the staff at this museum are very friendly and very helpful. One could spend an entire day (or morein this museum. There is so much information (papers, artifacts, equipmentto read and digest. The museum itself has 4 floors covering different eras of German Military history. There is also old military equipment outside that is super cool to see dating back to the Cold War.For history buffs, this is a MUST while visiting Dresden. Thank you to the team who put this wonderful museum together.

A lot to do here, a lot of interesting exhibits even if you arent a military buff. Ticket is pretty cheap at 5 Euro each and the place is clean and architecture interesting. Great views from the observation deck with 4 floors of exhibits. Outside are tanks, armoured cars and other military equipment. Well worth a visit.

This is a really well designed and interestingly presented museum. Old Fritz would have been delighted if he had seen his over-sized portrait in the entrance hall. Everything is really very well presented and you have the feeling that it is being offered quite an objective review of history.YesI was most interested in the Weimar Republic and the time of the First World War, the Second World War and the time after it was extremely interesting and a top recommendation.

Extreamly large museum, spent 3 hours there only to see about 20% of it. Study the leaflet before going in, you have to plan the visit as there are two routes to take. I have to go again. The outside exposition is free to visit, just walk around freely.

It is a really good place for spending 1-2 hours for visiting. The staff are ready friendly and more importantly they speak English which is quite a blessing in Saxony. Facilities including bag storage and rest rooms are perfect. There is also a restaurant and cafe although it was closed during our visit due to Covid-19.After all there are wide range of military equipment from clothes and guns to tanks and helicopters. Also are also facilitating art pictures. If you enjoy the history you can really have fun in this place.

This is the museum of the German Army. It has quite an enormous task to present the eventful history from several hundred years of hostilities between ancient and more recent super powers in the centre of Europe. I tried to see everything on one day, but that was not possible. My advice is to focus on certain parts of the great exhibition. I found the most recent part very interesting, with all the comparisons between the armies in DDR and BRD. Also the old submarine was a must see. Some battle vehicles from the cold war era and later can be seen outside, dont miss them.

This museum has an outstanding collection of items to watch and stories to read and themes to explore - and to be amazed. The timeline of the German (warhistory can be followed quite flawlessly and you can spend hours here. It’s also money well spent. Only 6€ for an adult!Outdoor exhibition of the vehicles was a nice addition to the many-sided and plentiful collection. But there are also some critical points of the way how the exhibition has been put together:- I don’t quite get the idea of putting so much effort in building almost useless or even in best cases very difficult to use ”functionalities” in the exhibition architecture. I don’t like opening boxes or drawers to get the information. Instead those pseudo-stylish elements everything should be displayed without any trouble or need to use muscles. Some of those ”sliding doors” were so heavy to use that I hardly believe that any elderly women can even open them. Perhaps they are not the target group?- The color scheme of dark grey and other very dark tones doesn’t play together with the way-too dimmed and non-adequate lightning that has been used unfortunately almost everywhere. Reading the texts in many of the vitrines was practicly impossible. Parts of some descriptions were overshadowed by other items. Please use some more light!

If you are most interested in vehicles and big equipment, the best stuff for me were the vehicles parked outside of the building which you can see without entering the museum. The museum space was nice and had interesting exhibitions with lot of smaller stuff ... Guns, uniforms, etc. The part focusing on development after 1945 had a nice comparison between East and West German armies.

Building is massive and exhibits are spaced out so worth getting a tour with one of the excellent guides. Has the usual mix of standard exhibits and arty quirkiness of German museums. Starting at the sticky out wedge and working your way down is probably the best way to see everything. Allow at least 2 to 3 hours.

Very much a destination for persons interested in history, ranging from pre-WW1, onwards to today. The museum provides and extremely broad, and deep range of information on each section. Many, if not all of the items on display have very in-depth descriptions. The museum is an amazing experience, but for someone who is a slower, or enjoys reading everything, give ample time. Give at least 4-5 hours if you do not plan on reading very much, but still going through all the exhibits. Student rates are also given, if specified.

Its worth to experience this building by itself first. Then take your time to look at the permanent exhibition, its presented very well, I recommend you to take the elevator to the top floor and visit from end to start. The in-house Café is also nice and pretty good for a little break.

A military museum covering Germanys military history from medieval times to present. Contains plenty of historical as well as relatively recent era military hardware much like other military museums, but also dedicates floors to the human aspect and costs associated with war. Overall, I spelt over 5 hours here and with the 5 euro admission cost, its well worth the visit.

For 5€ is absolutely worth a visit. It was the only museum I came for in Dresden. Also can reccomend Volkswagen factory with an electric Golf test drive.Ps. Technic exposition outside the museum is available for free

This HAS to be the best war museum in all of Europe. I liked how it was both super historical and also it had a sense of art about it.Unfortunately I could not see the thematic exhibition, I only saw part of the chronological exhibition. If you are a guy who likes to read, prepare to spend 3 or 4 hours in here!
