P.O. Box 482, Samoilova, Skopje 1000, North Macedonia, Skopje
Bright, airy museum housing modern & contemporary works by Macedonian & international artists.
Contemporary museum at a great location, beautiful light in the building and amazing views of Skopje.
Could be a fantastic national modern art gallery - but collection closed for longer period without prior announcement.Rather rough staff, unhelpful.
Interesting place with interesting exhibitions.I actually visited twice: once for the exhibition and later to see a performance for the Skopje Pride Weekend - it was beautiful and brave. Such a great event! Not so cool - the security guard giving me and my boyfriend a kind of condescending look for holding hands sitting on the sofa chatting when we visited the day before.
BE CAREFUL FOR THIEVES ON THE PARKING. THERE IS NO VIDEO, 3 TIMES PER WEEK THERE IS A BROKEN WINDOW !!!!Besides it, building is very old, very little exhibition, not worth 60 denars to enter to have your car stolen!!!! :(
There isn’t much art to see but it’s well curated and in an incredible building. The views of the city are worth the visit alone.
Wonderful view from the top, the exhibition is depends on what they have at the moment, but the ticket only cost you 60 den.
Striking artwork that sticks with you. An absolute gem.
Small bit nice exposition. Too bad the top floors are not utilized
Beautifull Modern Art museum, this Week there was an Exhibition for Skope Pride.Quite interresting and fun te watch this exhibition.
Good exhibition on currently, including a Hockney. Cheap price, spent about half an hour there. only one exhibition on when we went, called jump.
The small temporary exhibition was interesting but when I got there this was all that was open, the vast remainder of it being closed without warning.
Nice museum with some interesting artworks. I couldnt visit the whole museum but I was impressed with the installation that was making sound from scanning a rotating paper. I enjoyed the architecture and history of the place. Will visit again to see the first floor as well...
Beatiful place with extra ordinarily view on the City
Great location and great architecture. The exhibitions are always 💯.Not so sure about the working hours, its nearly impossible to visit the place if employed.
Free for students, interesting exhibitions
A very good museum but not enough exhibits.
Small but only approximately €1 to get in which is a bargain for such a nice high quality collection.
I dont come here for the art (lets be honestI love this building for its architectural style and its great view of Skopje!
Free entrance on Sundays.Kinda tiring to visit the museum on foot.Decent modern art but nothing special.
The museum is near the fortress, on a hill. There are few exhibitions inside, we liked most of them. The building is also interesting. Cheap tickets. Better than other Skopje museums, I would say.
Place where art lives in every corner. In an outside the building, and in the amazing views of the city.
Macedonian museum of modern art. There are some interesting pieces and installations. Generally it was underwhelming. The view from up there is great.
Is just ok kinda small entrance is just 50 denar
There’s an original Picasso painting devoted to the city of Skopje following the devastating earthquake in 1963.
If you appreciate modern art,It’s definitely a place to stop by admire and buy a book or two on your way out .Hasn’t changed in years but new art exhibitions are always in.
One of the most beautiful night spots in the city. The view is amazing and you can be sure that quietness will remain there. The museum itself is also magical and I would recommend to everyone to pay it a visit.
I love this museum its on a little hill so it has a beautiful view. They have exhibitions often and you can find a lot of information about modern art and architecture in their library.
The walk from the square isnt too long but its up hill. The museum interesting and if you have extra time while youre in Skopje you should visit it.
Its a bit remote and challenging as a location, but Id recommend going and seeing it.
Although its a huge building, half of it was closed and the other half contained not a big number of artworks. Most of them were quite nice though. Its located on a hill so you get some views of the city from above. The entrance fee is 1€. If you like modern art then I recommend to go there, even though the exhibition is quite small but for the price is still worth it.
A very interesting museum, to bad half of it was closed for renovation. Great location. Walking around the building we got a chance to see some great works of art through the windows😂
Although an old building that stays as a mark of the Communist era, the art exhibits here will give you the feel of the modern.
The building itself is with an interesting story as it was donated from the Polish Government right after the earthquake, and the interior is quite spectacular as it is the exterior. There are different prices for locals and tourists, but it is worth for the money.
It,s not free here, and there are not many exhibits inside. Actually outtside of the museum is a better place to overlook the city.
A museum, has everything that one can expect. Looks a bit different from the buildings in the city, and I guess it is supposed to. It is a museum of contemporary arts after all. Has a great view during sunrise and sunset, great place to chill when there arent any exhibits.
The museum seems to be abandoned, either inside and mostly outside. The location is on top hill overlooking skopje, but you hardly enjoy it because of care you need not to fall because of uncared garden
A total shame. We went there and the permanent collection was closed to the public. When we asked why, they could not give a reasonable answer....for excusing they give us free access. But I want to pay a ticket and see something, not pay nothing and see nothing! They dont have maps of the museum and neither a booklet about the museum and the collection. No reading material, absolutely nothing. Lot of the works that should be exposed were donated to the museum after the earthquake and they do not even expose them. A real shame for the city and a total delusion for turists like us that plan to see it. If the collection is not visitable you should write it on the offical site, try to be more professional...you work for a state institution not for an old senior center.
This museum is a must see if you are ever in Skopje, apart from the great exhibitions there is a great view of the city also.
Mildly interesting museum of contemporary art by mostly Macedonian artists. The building is large but it does not use all the room for art. The atmosphere in the museum is simple and coldish. It hosts some very nice objects, but most objects are pretty boring. The staff is not welcoming and not friendly. Overall this museum was a disappointment.
Best known for the Picasso "Weepping Woman" portrait, given to the Museum as a gift, after the great earthquake in 1963. New exhibitions every second months. Also, wide range of art talks and cultural event are organised in the venue. The view is gorgeous as you can see the city from above. Its worth seeing.
Everyone can see (and knowsthat the vicinity "takes your breath away" and that the artistic shows are second-to-none. But the greatest asset of MSU (The Museum of Contemporary Artsis the staff that works there: they are super friendly, always there to help you out, and will find solutions to your problems/issues when you have an event there. Would recommend it to everyone whether they are only visiting the shows or are planning an event there.
Amazing architecture, but the building was closed at 17:00 oclock so i could not see the exhibitions. The entrance on the back side is horrible, like going trough a rainforest.
Very good place for art exhibitions. Placed on the hill it give you a magnificent view of Skopje...
Nice building ... some lightweight contemporary art at ground level .... main exhibition area closed but no one said before they sold me ticket..... beautiful view from outside of skopje....
Museum on a hill, so definietely a good view on a city. Nice people working there. If you dont have any plans for the day, you can see this
Very nice museum, excellent building
This modern art museum is located at the top of one of the hills in the city and has spectacular views of the city and surrounding mountains. It’s not that big but does has some nice pieces of art from local and international artists. It’s free entrance on Thursdays.
Nice architecture. You can have a beautiful city view. Although it is small but it has a nice art collection.
The museum is designed by a group of Warsaw architects called “The Tigers" and it is opened for public in 1970. The building is one of the best examples of the modernistic architecture. In the museum collection, among others there are a paintings of Piccaso and Vasareli. And also there is a big collection of great Macedonian artists: Nikola Martinovski, Lazar Lichenoski, Petar Mazev and many more.Go there at night events to enjoy amazing Skopje panoramic views.
The Contemporary Art Museum of Macedonia (Macedonian: Музејот на современата уметностis one of the largest and most complete national institution of the Republic of Macedonia. Located in the capital city of Skopje, the museum was founded in 1963 following the disastrous earthquake that hit the city. The international segment of the collections reflects the modern art from almost all parts of the world. The larger part of the collection marks the art movements of the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s, although it contains also around a hundred works of the early modern art. The older exhibits are mainly highlighted by works of Emil Filla, Fernand Léger, and André Masson. The works of the internationally well-known artists are of special importance, such as: Pablo Picasso, Hans Hartung, Victor Vasarely, Alexander Calder, Pierre Soulages, Alberto Burri, Christo, Robert Jacobsen, Etienne Hajdu, Zoltan Kemeny, Robert Adams, Emilio Vedova, Antoni Clavé, and Georg Baselitz.
