Museum of Asian Art of Corfu in Sarande

Very nice museum, not very big but nice collection

Right in the heart of the city center near the old fortress.  The entry is 6€ and the museum is located on the amazing colonial British building. It holds  a huge collection of artefacts  from Asia (including China, Japan, Middle East, India, Thailand). It is worth the visit due to the valuable collection that it holds (pottery, clothing, tapestry, armours, statues and sculptures).

The museum is quite small. At a leisurely pace and with reading descriptions for up to an hour. Exhibits from several cultures. There are not too many of them. The palace itself on the inside is in very good condition. From the outside it is not so good.In my opinion, a nice break from the heat outside allowing you to see piece of history and culture. The price is not high (6€but not very adequate to the contents.

Very nice place to visit in Corfu town , the entrance is cheap. I recommend to buy general access for museums and Old Fortress of Corfu. Good luck !!!

To be honest one of the best places in Corfu to visit. At first I did not understand why ia there an Asian museum in Corfu, but after we went in, and read about some historical events (no spoilersit totally made sense. I always heard about Kintsukuroi (the art of fixing things with goldbut never seen an example until now. It takes between 30-60 minutes to visit depanding on you. Visiting the museum you are basically visiting the palace that holds it also. The location is near other objectives so you can quickly move between them. I recommend visiting it in the hot hours of the day, it will help you cool of a bit from all the visiting in the sun. The samurai armour was really nice to see.

If you are at least a little bit interested in cultural stuff then pleas visit this castle that is used as a museum right now.You will find many interesting pices here and the Thron room is amazing.

A great place to visit on a hot day but more importantly the museum has lots of interesting things to look at and everything had Greek and English descriptions.

Its a beautiful museum with good displays. Absolutely free for students below 25 years. If you are interested in Asian history its a must go place. The view of old fort is nice from the view point next to museum!

Simply one of the most interesting and well-arranged museums I have ever been to! Rare exhibits, detailed descriptions, everything was very well-organized and I felt enriched after visiting this place. I definitely recommend it to anyone interested in Eastern history and culture.

This museum contains all sorts of historical pieces from all over Asia. Includes pottery, clothes, weapons and all the common items used. And next to them a very clear explanation of the history of their country of origin. You will learn a lot about Chinese art and cultural evolution as well as Japans raise of the samurais and geishas.

Great collection of Asian collections in a marvelous royal building. The beuaty and value of the exhibits makes you wonder: how can 2-3 people collect that many treasures ?

Rudeness at its peak. Visited with my four year old kid when he suddenly dropped a small bar of soap that he was holding on the wooden floor making a loud noise. The museum guard immediately ran to us yelling to respect the other people that are visiting the museum making my kid cry. After that I made my complaints and left. Nobody was wearing masks even though you were obliged to. Greeks are not mannered.

Very nice staff and many exhibits to see.Had a great time and loved the way the story unfolded within the Asian art museum. Very detailed information and great visuals.

Great experience that combines learning more about Asian culture and history.You also get to tour the amazing old palace.I was surprised by the quality and condition of the exhibits.Layout is quite interesting as well. They could have done slightly better job with air conditioning and signage

This is definitely a must see! Museum is very well thought-out displey of asian art and culture- there really is something interesting for everybody. All the information in the museum is very well written and interesting to read. We managed to get a student discount which meant the ticket price was 3 euros per person ( regular price is 6 euros).

If you are interested in the asian history/culture then this is a must see (and you can cool down in the airco at the same time). My personal favorite were the items from feudal Japan. Its also amazing to see items from the Chinese dynasty which date back 200 B.C.

This, alongside the archaeological museum both are beautifully presented. I loved taking a trip through history, especially Japanese history. Being here, particularly when I entered the giant conference rooms, made me feel like I was a King (just for a moment). Keen sightseers should definitely get the shared ticket so you can at least check out the Old Fortress, the archaeological museum, and here

Very important part of Corfu / Ionian Islands history. Besides very interesting museum of Asian art.

A very interesting museum, definitely worth a visit. Its quite warm inside, even though there are some fans. Free enterance for EU students and a low fee for others!

I am a fan of the Asian culture and during my trip to Corfu I stopped and visited the museum. It is not a very big museum but you could always find some unknown items.

If you are interested in seeing such places it deserves to pay a visit.

4€ tickets. Interesting to view, plenty inspiration to find there, especially for an artist. Interesting facts about ancient asian civilisations.

Very nice building near to the Old.Fortress. All the objects are not only very diverse but also really nice, well preserved, showing us the beatiful evolution of asian countries during an intense history time. The entry price is very good (6 euros for adults and free of charge for children). Totally recommended !

This is a world class museum with so much interesting information and art. It does a remarkable job of teaching about the art and artifacts, adding context of history and culture, and teaching a little about technique. Beautifully displayed. Plan to spend some time here.

This museum was interesting but too small for a price of 6 euros. Nice and informative videos, there could be more of them in the halls, that would help visitors to aknowledge more with a history, traditional or production of the different materials.

Although the collection is remarkable, the design and lightning of the materials are quite old school. Air quality is relatively inferior inside which makes your steps faster from one room to an another. Some historical explanations and dates are confused, or mis represented (especially Chinese history, historical claim marks could be more accurate. Could be visited if you do not have any alternative on town

A bit of a strange place for an Asian museum. It is a very dark exhibition in an city that is bathing in the sun. This makes that every time the smallest stroke of sunshine infiltrates the dark rooms and you are allowed to spot a glimpse of the blue sea, it sparks the thought that in an alternative reality you could have decided to have gone for a Corfu beer instead. However if you happen to be one of the ten people in the world who are into Afghani horse tapestry, it is definitely a must visit. Also if you are European and under 25 yo it is free. So at least you save money for your beer later on.

Unbelievable. First time I had the chance to meet the far east cultures and I was amazed by the variety and the exhibitions. Must seen for sure. It took us around 2 hours to go through all the rooms but we wanted to read almost everything in detail. For sure you can make it in 1:30 if you skip some rooms that are not so interesting

This museum is a must. Housed in the old palace, the building itself is part of history. The Asian collection is one of the largest in Europe and well displayed with special exhibition too. The collection at the turn of the century poses a deeply interesting insight into how the gathering of knowledge of other cultures had been a vital task in the formation of a nation. The current issue of imperial collecting is not casting its shadow as everything was acquired in Europe. For those aware of the importance of learning history, not only how Asia presents itself, but also how a Greek collector tried to understand Asia, its a good choice.

Very informative and easy reading. I agree with the last reviewer a must see.Set on 3 floors starting on the first floor. Mask and Covid pass is required.I have added pictures and info which I found particularly interesting. There is a lot more interesting things to see so please visit.

Wonderful museum showcasing many forms of art from Asia, and only Asian art museum in Greece. Throne room was closed for maintenance, but staff were kind enough to let us take a peek inside as there was not many visitors. Affordable price too during the off season of €3.

Interesting place with really lots of exhibit lots. Has 2 floors with I guess around 20 halls or more. Was interesting to read the facts and observe( yes, there is a lot of text written next to exhibits so if not to be lazy, it would be much more interesting). Inside museum is chilly which a nice way to spend extremely hot summer dAy.

Great museum in old Town. You will definetly learn few new things about Asian history. Japan was the most impressive.

Very interesting Museum, peaceful, dark.I will not recommended for small children, because they cant touch anything. Poor explanation. I will recommended you to buy ticket for 5 Museums directly - its much cheaper 😉

€6 per adult. Friendly and welcoming staff. In the Palace of St. Michael and St. George and the collection is quite large and varied. There are collections of Japanese, Chinese, Indian and Nomadic Central Asian art, to name a few. There is plenty to see and most of the signs are in Greek and English. However, some of the tv monitors weren’t working. In some places the lights were very dim, most likely to protect the delicate artwork, but it did make it difficult to see. Also, in a few sections the bulbs were simply gone. It would be good to get a little more information on the three main rooms on the first floor, one appears to be a throne room and there are huge paintings in the rooms as well. You could easily spend two hours here.Also, to the left of the main entrance are some rooms detailing the history of the building and it’s significance as well as the history of the Heptenesian/Ionian state from 1800 to its unification with Greece in 1864.There is bathroom facilities. Small and tiny gift shop. Audio guides available. No lifts or easy access for those with prams or wheelchairs.

Strangely but this museum in Corfu has better collection of orient art that some big and famous museums. Also the building itself (a palace actuallyis quite important historically and just dazzling. So do not skip it if you in Corfu town!

Beautiful museum with a lovely view. The showcase is amazing and diverse so gou will not be bored by too much pottery but a rather nice selection.

Neo-classical palace build by the English in the 19th century. Quite interesting history behind the building which also served as residence for the Greek royal family and the location of a recent EU summit. Now housing the museum of Asian Art and a number of rooms for temporary exhibitions The museum is reviewed separately but the building itself is also worth the visit, especially the room with the dome. The gardens can be visited for free and have some amazing views on the old Fortress, Faliriki and Vidos island.

Even if one expect more about a museum, this private collection is well organized and covers a wide range of years and style. Very neat "niche" where the objects are clearly exposed. Very beautiful building and quiet surroundings.
