Colonia San Benito, Final Avenida la Revolución, San Salvador, El Salvador, Sensuntepeque
Exhibits of mid-19th-century to contemporary works by Salvadoran artists, with workshops for kids.
Such a nice an clean place
We enjoyed our time at the museum. The artwork is very interesting and the staff was very knowledgeable and friendly. We went on a Sunday. We would highly recommend making a stop in.
They are currently promoting musical Monday nights. The public access to the museum is on weekends only. Private group visits happen on weekdays.
Outdoor events might sound like a good idea, but not when everyone nearby has to feel the thumping bass for hours on end.
Very interesting arts
An amazing display of modern interpretations of superheroes, NFTs, villains, etc. Art schools in the area are well represented.
Great place for seeing art!
1st day in El Salvador and this was a great start to my short visit. The art is wonderful, and the staff are all so kind. *Pamela* was so knowledgable and friendly - thank you for taking the time to talk with me and tell me about the art! For foreigners who arent residents, admission was only $5. Love love love.
♡
Excellent bistro. Service and food quality are top notch. Ambiance perfect for a first date, rekindle love date or proposal. Basically romantic place.
Natural Beauty and Artistic Excellence a must see
I hope to visit it again.
Interesting museum for historic and modern salvadorean art 🎨.Friendly and helpful staff
Cool museum spent a few hours walking around, well laid out and variety of art works 👌
Would be dope if they had a English translation but I understand why they don’t. Guess I’ll have to learn more Spanish 😊
Very nice little museum, the only thing that its very tiny, you could walk it all in less then an hour so I guess take your time.
Didn’t actually get to visit bc hours on Google are incorrect. Please be advised that they are only open on sundays from 11am - 4pm
Staff is always friendly and food tastes good and fresh.
It says here that its open every day except Mondays. In fact theyre open only on Sundays. I find this really weird and disappointing for a Museum in a capital city. The museum was actually one of the main reasons why I came to San Salvador.
Open only on Sundays from 11am-4pmAdmission free. Until further notice.
It’s closed till further notice due to COVID. Wish someone would have updated the hours of operations to reflect this. Took an Uber here to find out.
Was so excited to finally come to the museum! Google directions told me that is open. But when we arrived we found out is close since the beginning of the Pandemic! An employee meet us at the front and gave us the right directions!
The museum isnt the biggest, but it was delightful. Many pieces of art convey messages, and it feels good to have contemporary arts with meaning. It was free, and I would recommend visiting it.Right now, prints on the building are saying that it is closed because of dismantling, but the museum is open.
A wonderfully serene museum with an impressive collection. An easy walk if you happen to staying at the Sheraton Presidente Hotel.
My first date was here with my daughters mother. It was also the first time I went there. It is a very nice place, l love visiting this place.
This one of the best museums of art Ive seen in Central AmericaAs of the day Im writing this review there are currently 3 exhibitions, one of modern art (Bienal d Dibujo), one of the life of a Chinese immigrant, which in and of itself is a beautiful story of cultural differences; and a cultural exhibition of societal conflict and turmoil that plagued the country in the past century, along side it shows its rich history and hidden talent that lies in this small Central American countryIts a must visit if youre in the city, youll get to know a bit more of the history of this beautiful countryEntrance is 1.50$ (free on Sundays)
Love the museum, the museum shop and restaurant...please patronize this wonderful venue
You have to stop by here if you’re visiting San Salvador. Great museum, very socially educational and provides some really authentic beautiful art from the people of El Salvador and other Latin American/Spanish artists. Love coming here every time I’m in ES and I’m never disappointed! It’s also free on Sunday. ❤️🇸🇻
I definitely recommend coming to MARTE. If you can it is better to request a guide so that he can explain more about the paintings. The bathroom was very clean, everything there was neat and clean, to be honest. The only thing that they can improve is that the description of the paintings should be both in spanish and English. I saw many foreigners struggling with spanish.
Its really interesting and the exhibitions change in some of the rooms. Free in on Sundays, $1.50 every other day. Worth a visit.
I absolutely love this place, so clean, so calm, so fresh, usually you pay a fee at the entrance a ticket for $1.50 but on Sundays is free.
This museum shows Salvadoran artists works, and have a permanent exposition. Is open from 9 am to 6 pm.
Small collection but worth going to see some of their artwork. Price was only $1.50
Nice place to learn. Many types of art are displayed in a well organized exhibits. Super clean and secure. Parking is free with admission.
The art is impressive for such a small country. Theres a lot of social justice in most if the pieces. We didnt like the lack of A/C. It felt 2 or 3 degrees cooler than the outside.
Im a big fan o Salvadoran art, we need to support our national artists, we have a lot of talent here in El Salvador, lets start visiting our Museums and leaning about our culture.
Great modern art gallery in San Salvador
They coild do so much more to make it so much better! Beautiful place.
Great facilities - easy access - private security - art galleries - restaurants inside
Good space but needs more content. There are a couple of nice paintings. There one room full of junk that literally looks like piles of rubbish, exhibited for longer than one year, surely there must be some artists who would like to exhibit in that room.
#culture #accessible #learn Marte has some interesting stuff the statues are very interesting the gardens are modern chilled spot
Amazing museum. World class art and curation. Dont miss it during your visit to El Salvador! Tickets are only $1.50, $0.50 if youre student and free on Sundays so theres no excuse. The only downside was the gift shop that had no museum merchandise nor specialized art books. Hopefully itll get better in the future.
It is such a beautiful place, so many art exposure!
Have an awsome display of el.salvador local arts. Sunday funday is free!
Excellent place where to enjoy local art, important cultural events in music, handcraft, local production.Great location, great customer service.Totally recommendable.
Had a great visit. Really varied and interesting exhibitions. A good way to learn more about the countrys art, culture and history. Not super impressed by the shop and restaurant (would prefer something more family friendlybut the museum was excellent.
Smaller museum but worth the visit. Nice grounds, and changing displays of art.
Good place to see modern art in El Salvador and also good place for social & fashion events
This museum presents the Salvadoran history of art. Nice environment, easy access, a great place to visit.
This museum is split into 6 sections. One was closed during our visit. One of these was a temporary exhibit. Good chance to learn about the effect of the civil war on civilians and artists alike through art. Majority of information is in Spanish.Part of bigger complex including the theatre, gardens (pretty averageand a large memorial.Resturant on site, opens at midday.Museum entry was $1.5USD I think. Drinking water available to the right hand side of the reception desk (towards the toilets). No bags allowed in.Visited May 2016
