Privilege
Beautiful museum give you a good glance of the different kinds of arts in Uzbekistan. A friendly place with a nice yard with some fruit trees
MoreVery interesting. Worth a visit.
Very poor attitude of the staff. Little to no information on most artefacts. Shame since Uzbekistans material cultural heritage is so unique and rich.
MoreNice little museum.
This is a small museum worth visiting if youre in Tashkent and pressed for time. You can cover the museum in an hour.Features Uzbek arts and culture--prints, embroidery, musical instruments, carpets.Entrance is 25,000 som
MoreBeautiful museum with many pieces of history of Uzbekistan. Not to be missed while in Tashkent
MoreA beautifully curated and interesting museum located in a stunning building. Very reasonable entry prices. Cute shop with handmade items (though quite expensive).
MoreIs a must to visit!
State Museum of Applied Arts of Uzbekistan is an art museum located in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, founded in 1937 as a temporary exhibition for handicrafts. The museum showcases over 4,000 exhibits on decorative art in Uzbekistan, including wood carving, ceramics, embossing, embroidery, and samples of mass production in local industry. It’s a must visit place for all the arts & crafts lovers. There are some unique showpieces which are very old suzanis, and seeing them lined up next to each other makes it very for interesting experience.
MoreMuseum of Applied Arts is one of the major tourist attractions in Tashkent. It is a small yet interesting museum with historical applied artworks. The interior specially the walls are skilfully painted with eye catching views. There is a gift shop as well at the back with amazing handcrafted clothes and many interesting souveniers. Highly recommended for all the tourists visiting Tashkent.
MoreFantastic place to visit during hot days
Stunning place.
Amazing. The building AND the added art works are spectacular.
A small but very interesting museum. Carpets, ceramics, clothes and other items from the Uzbek tradition are exhibited here. It worths a visit.
MoreSmall and cute museum you can explore for less than 1 hour. Great place to discover all kind of arts from different regions of Uzbekistan.
MoreTotally Agree, Great Handicraft, Historical Moments
Brillant museum with amazing art piece collection. Our first museum in Tashkent and it definitely worth to spend a good hour in!
MoreIt’s will be nice if the staff inside the museum could speak English as it’s a universal language for tourists to understand. I felt I was left alone not knowing about the history about the artifacts. Though I managed to read every description about the artifacts.
MoreGood place to see if you have time.
the museum of applied arts in tashkent is in an old house from the czars times. it is decorated in that impossible style of the russian empire, precious woods bridled with lapis blues, orpiment oranges, and gold foil... inside lies a collection of marvels, carpets brought from every corner of asia, sculptures from the near east, swords forged in persia, and fabrics weaves in china.... a little trove of treasuresig: @minusoneovertwelve
MoreIt was a beautiful small museum - they charge 25,000 soms to get in for some reason - no different price for Uzbek citizens. I went during a slow hour to see everything without it being crowded. What was the downside? Every employee in each room was following me around - it was so uncomfortable I felt like I was being rushed. When I wanted to go back one more time to the first room they told me no I have to exit - what the hell is up with that? I pay that much to go in and can’t look in peace? I felt like I was being treated as a shoplifter
MoreLove the collection. Spend around 30 minutes here
I had a wonderful time exploring the museum. The staff was wonderful and so informative and kind!
MoreBeautiful museum but only evident on the inside. The place also hard to locate as road signage not prominent. A lot of details confronting us when we stepped in. There are also a lot of exhibits displayed with more respect. It would b easier to take Yandex taxi to get there.
MoreVery nice small museum housed in the former Russian embassy. Entrance is 21000 som for foreigners.
MoreInteresting small museum in a once private house. Articles covered include rugs, carved wood, pottery, etc for which Uzbekistan is well known.
MoreImpressively decorated building, but the exhibits are nothing special. You can find those artifacts in every bazaar. A bit overpriced for the size.
MoreBeautiful embroidered hangings. Spiffing hats. Luxurious coats made from horse hair. Designs in Uzek, Russian and Islamic styles. A feast for the eyes. In other words rather good old chaps.
MoreYou can view this small museum in 20-30 minutes. As a foreigner it cost me 23,000 som for admission. Its a great place to learn about Uzbek culture and the main room in particular is very beautiful. They also have many interesting textiles, ceramics, and paintings. Since the museum is so small, one downside is it gets very crowded when tourist groups come rushing in. Go early to beat the crowd!
MoreA wonderful overview of carpets of Uzbekistan! Interesting shop!
What a shame to charge visitors 15 times more than locals and then brag about it! Prices are not stated anywhere, so cashier just named random number, apparently based on how much do you look like a tourist.Extremely rude staff at souvenir shop.Overall the museum is not worth a trip -it was good long time ago but now there are only a few exhibits, plenty of antique exhibits were replaced with poor modern replicas. Honestly you can see same stuff at any bazaar or just walking along the streets of Bukhara, for example.
MoreVery well laid out museum - mostly late c19th early c20th exhibits Former Russian Ambassadors Residence.
MoreThis is a hidden treasure in Tashkent. The museum is compact. Entrance fee is 5,000 sum, but if you want to take a picture of exhibits, you should pay 10,000 sum more and staff give you a badge which allows to take a picture. Most exhibits are from Uzbeki artists and are made in 18~20th century. Exhibits include paints, carpets, clothes etc.
MoreThere are some beautiful things, some of them properly lighted some left in the dark but the same things can be seen at the Art Museum so I am not entirely sure that this particular museum is worth the visit.
MoreA good showcase of the applied arts practiced in Uzbekistan. Ceramics, textiles and many other things.
MoreNice place! It’s your chance to see all that beautiful tile work in close range. They also have a fantastic collection of textiles, carpets from all over Western Asia. Very pleasant staff. Wonderful building in an interesting neighborhood of Tashkent.
Morevery interesting museum to understand central asia art. must see
Nice place spend an hour. Wont miss much if you dont visit.
Building history more interesting than the exhibits
Very nice compact museum
An old tsarist Russian diplomats house that has been gifted to the city of Tashkent. Its a small museum now displaying historical arts & crafts. Not much for a museum to be honest but its the architecture of one of front patio and receiving hall thats worth viewing.
MoreSmall museum,really beautiful,really peacefull.When U was visiting,there were practical demonstrations of different arts:music,sewing.
MoreSmall museum of Uzbek art works in an old house. Has a small tourist shop and cafe in courtyard. Lovely woodworks, dresses, carpets, and tiled rooms
MoreSmall museum that worth a visit. You can see carpet, jewellery and precious stuff. Max 1h and 30min to visit it. Ive been there in Aug 2017 and cafeteria was closed.
MoreReally interesting, especially the suzanis and clothes collections. Well worth the visit to learn about the Uzbek artisanal craftsmanship. There is a camera fee.
MoreGood place to visit in Tashkent.
The outside looks amazing! However, it is closed until 10th August 2016
