Very poor attitude of the staff. Little to no information on most artefacts. Shame since Uzbekistans material cultural heritage is so unique and rich.

State Museum of Applied Arts of Uzbekistan is an art museum located in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, founded in 1937 as a temporary exhibition for handicrafts. The museum showcases over 4,000 exhibits on decorative art in Uzbekistan, including wood carving, ceramics, embossing, embroidery, and samples of mass production in local industry. It’s a must visit place for all the arts & crafts lovers. There are some unique showpieces which are very old suzanis, and seeing them lined up next to each other makes it very for interesting experience.

Museum of Applied Arts is one of the major tourist attractions in Tashkent. It is a small yet interesting museum with historical applied artworks. The interior specially the walls are skilfully painted with eye catching views. There is a gift shop as well at the back with amazing handcrafted clothes and many interesting souveniers. Highly recommended for all the tourists visiting Tashkent.

It’s will be nice if the staff inside the museum could speak English as it’s a universal language for tourists to understand. I felt I was left alone not knowing about the history about the artifacts. Though I managed to read every description about the artifacts.

the museum of applied arts in tashkent is in an old house from the czars times. it is decorated in that impossible style of the russian empire, precious woods bridled with lapis blues, orpiment oranges, and gold foil... inside lies a collection of marvels, carpets brought from every corner of asia, sculptures from the near east, swords forged in persia, and fabrics weaves in china.... a little trove of treasuresig: @minusoneovertwelve

It was a beautiful small museum - they charge 25,000 soms to get in for some reason - no different price for Uzbek citizens. I went during a slow hour to see everything without it being crowded. What was the downside? Every employee in each room was following me around - it was so uncomfortable I felt like I was being rushed. When I wanted to go back one more time to the first room they told me no I have to exit - what the hell is up with that? I pay that much to go in and can’t look in peace? I felt like I was being treated as a shoplifter

Beautiful museum but only evident on the inside. The place also hard to locate as road signage not prominent. A lot of details confronting us when we stepped in. There are also a lot of exhibits displayed with more respect. It would b easier to take Yandex taxi to get there.

Impressively decorated building, but the exhibits are nothing special. You can find those artifacts in every bazaar. A bit overpriced for the size.

Beautiful embroidered hangings. Spiffing hats. Luxurious coats made from horse hair. Designs in Uzek, Russian and Islamic styles. A feast for the eyes. In other words rather good old chaps.

You can view this small museum in 20-30 minutes. As a foreigner it cost me 23,000 som for admission. Its a great place to learn about Uzbek culture and the main room in particular is very beautiful. They also have many interesting textiles, ceramics, and paintings. Since the museum is so small, one downside is it gets very crowded when tourist groups come rushing in. Go early to beat the crowd!

What a shame to charge visitors 15 times more than locals and then brag about it! Prices are not stated anywhere, so cashier just named random number, apparently based on how much do you look like a tourist.Extremely rude staff at souvenir shop.Overall the museum is not worth a trip -it was good long time ago but now there are only a few exhibits, plenty of antique exhibits were replaced with poor modern replicas. Honestly you can see same stuff at any bazaar or just walking along the streets of Bukhara, for example.

This is a hidden treasure in Tashkent. The museum is compact. Entrance fee is 5,000 sum, but if you want to take a picture of exhibits, you should pay 10,000 sum more and staff give you a badge which allows to take a picture. Most exhibits are from Uzbeki artists and are made in 18~20th century. Exhibits include paints, carpets, clothes etc.

There are some beautiful things, some of them properly lighted some left in the dark but the same things can be seen at the Art Museum so I am not entirely sure that this particular museum is worth the visit.

An old tsarist Russian diplomats house that has been gifted to the city of Tashkent. Its a small museum now displaying historical arts & crafts. Not much for a museum to be honest but its the architecture of one of front patio and receiving hall thats worth viewing.
