It contains wonderful exhibits from the Neolithic period, as well as spectacular Hittite, Phrygian, Urartian, Assyrian, etc. artefacts. The Neo-Hittite stonework from Carchemish is particularly special, but there are so many highlights to this museum. If you like ancient history and are in Ankara, this is a definite must see.

MoreA gorgeous museum located on the hill in Ankara. The museum grounds alone are very scenic and beautiful. Items curated there are well lighted and labelled.Happened to have a musical performance going on when I visited. The acoustics are very good indeed. And the performance was very enjoyable.Enjoyed my visit thoroughly. Really wished I could have stayed longer. Spent 2.5hours there and it wasnt enough. Guess I will have to try to visit again !Entrance Fee in 2022 - Sep : TL 75* I hope they publish a new museum guide with all the items in it. Currently, its split into multiple books with lots of items not in it. It would be of great interest to people who dont have the time or photographic equipment to capture all the great artifacts kept here.

MoreSmall but very impressive museum of the civilisations of Anatolia.
You have to visit this museum if you’re visiting Ankara or even close to it.The location is also great being very close to the castle so you can visit both on the same day.The actual museum isn’t very large compared to other museums in turkey but it’s very clean, well organized, items are presented in a nice way, and has a lot of history. The only thing I didn’t like is that the downstairs floor isn’t well decorated as the upper floor
MoreNice experience, It is a place to visit if you travel to Ankara.
A collection of artifacts starting from the Neolithic era up to the Roman era. The collections exhibited here are mostly discovered during the excavation around Ankara and Turkey. The descriptions are available in Turkish along with English. If you have extra money, you could pay more for an audio guide to help you learn things around the museum if you think reading is a bit inconvenient. Its highly recommended to go here if you are interested in Anatolian civilization history.

That area is also worth visiting too.
MoreOne of the best museums in the world, the pride of Turkey. If you love to challenge your wishful thinking, get there on a weekday 2 hrs before closing and chances are youll have many enjoyable moments without the decibels and jostle of a savage turistas.
MoreCame to know about one civilization. Women were respectful on that days. The housing pattern, use of metal, preparation of ornaments, how to get a pet giving food. The guide was well-known to the history. This Museum achieved prize from EU. First written documents.... So many this. While visiting Ankara one should visit this place.
MoreGreat museum, the ticket its very cheap, and its a 20 min walk, inside you will see a lot from the beginning of the human kind, also the evolution through the past of the years, its a must have in Ankara, if you want good pictures being a camera because theres no chance to use cellphone flash so your photos will get dark. Very recommended.
MoreAmazing place. All those read in the textbooks are vividly seen in this incredible museum. It’s on the hill so suggest that taking a taxi which does not cost much in Turkey. After visiting the museum, just walk up the hill for 5 mins is the castle. From there you have wonderful view of the whole Ankara area. There are many small stores near the castle that sell souvenirs at reasonable prices. The blue eyes and some handmade textures are good as gifts.
