Quaint museum exploring the history of kites in Indonesia via tours, exhibits & hands-on activities.
worth it with cheap ticket and got kite before go, thank you
Price: 25 (adults& 20 (children).Theyve only got 1 room (quite hugefilled with kites from all over Indonesia & all over the world.Everyone gets to make a kite, and there was a small courtyard where we can test our self-made kites. Quite hard since there were trees, thus it was easy to get tangled, but manageable. It was good if we need a quick gadget free quality family time, but maybe dont get your hopes too high. Honestly, calling it a museum is quite a stretch, but we (adultshad a pretty fun time exploring their kites collection.Revisit? Maybe no.

Fun place to know about Kites history and doing some workshops making kite, traditional Indonesia dance and making ceramics
Very nice museum i have ever visited! You can make a kite when you visit that Museum. The museum was built by Endang Ernawati in 2003 because she likes kites. She collected types of kites from across Indonesia and throughout the world...WOW
A good alternative place for spending your weekend. This museum is the only kite museum in Indonesia. All the crew are kind and professional. You can make your own kite and buy other customized kites in souvenir shop. Ticket price is 25 K for adult and 20 K for kid, worth it.
Unique place about kite and good for children. But parking lot is not so spacious
What a kite experience n adventure😍💯
Small place that is full of charm. I went during corona (and was the only person thereand Im happy to go, even if the entire experience lasted 45 minutes. TIL Southeast Asia loves kites the way America loves fast food
Recommended place for learning about the history of kites in Indonesia
Amazing place to know the tradition of Indonesian Kites.
The museum is a very interesting one and actually a precious one. With the entrance fee of IDR 15.000,-, we can enjoy the museums collection display of kites from Indonesia and all over the world. The museum is clean and the main buildings is filled with kites and many things related to it, however the second main buildings inner rooms for paintings is not yet used or finished when i visited it. The collections displayed are great and unique but the unfortunate thing is the museum still lacks more collections to satisfy the visitors. But this lack of collections are exchanged with the friendly and expert staffs. I finished viewing the collections in an hour and a half, but if i add the time i spent talking with one of the staff (the conversation was really pleasant and informative, i pretty much spent an additional two hours. Overall, i recommend this museum since it is an interesting one specially for newer generations where playing kite or even seeing a real one flying with ones own eyes are decaying rapidly. Now im going to fly the kite that they teach me how to make at the museum.p.s : if youre learning the collections of the museum like me, you can spend literally the whole opening hour from 09:00 am to 16:00 pm.
A hidden gem! The perfect place for group activity with friends or community. You can color and create your own kites while learning about its history and specific kite design in areas across Indonesia
One of place of interest you may visit is a kite museum. Located at South Jakarta. This museum is manage by private, not a government yet.So many school field trip to this museum. When the first time we came here, after pay for admission, they would guided us to watching a short movie about kite history and some activities around Indonesia. After that, they would guided us to the kite museum, where we could saw some kind of kites made of various material.Following activity is to make the kite. Theyve prepared the kites frame, paper, glue, crayons. Its time for us to make a kite...Its a valuable time to bring family here...
Interesting place to visit with your children. The kids would have painting/making a kite. Nice ambience. The price is 15k IDR/person.
Its really fun to visit there, we can see the video about history of kite. After that we guided to see many kites from many countries and all around Indonesia. There are the smallest kite till the very big kite. After enjoying see around then we learn to make our own kite. Prices are pretty cheap. Not only make kite, we can make batik and earthenware. Really good place 😁
A nice house like museum with Javanese decorations..a perfect place for elementary school students to learn about kites from all over Indonesia that offers educative activities such as making kites & making pottery (ceramics). Unfortunately the location in a small alley that doesnt allow a big bus to drop students right in front of the gate..Big buses have to stop and park in the main road thats requires us to walk for around 300-400 m
Nice place for spending your weekend with kids , large area ,javanese style, they provide with kids activity such making kite and etc
Nice place for kids who love kite.. Many historical kites are preserved. Kids alson an express their creativity by drawing and colouring the kites..
I really enjoyed my visit to this place. The location is a bit hidden from the busy streets, so the atmosphere around here is very chill. They usually start with a video introduction of the history of layang-layang, then followed by a tour of their layang-layang collection. Their collection is very extensive, although unfortunately during my visit it seems like it has been a while since the last time they cleaned up the place. Nevertheless, we ended the tour with our own DIY layang-layang.I highly recommend this place for people of all ages to come and rediscover the simplest form of toy that is layang-layang.
Indonesian kite Musium! Pay 15,000IDR/person and you can see some movie about kite, museum (small but many kinds of Indonesian, Malay and other kiteand make your own kite. The last one is only for children and all you can do is just painting it but might be still attractive activity for kids around 3 to 6.I visited on Sunday around 11 A.M. and spent about an hour with my kids, but not so crowded.
They provide service guide on the history of kites, a simple video presentation and also a short course on making kites. This museum has a simple setting of the display room filled with kites locally and internatinally, along with a cafe, and also a football (soccerfield to test flight the kites. It is simplicity at its best.
A good place of leisure for family and children. This museum has it all! Audiovisual information, kite collection from various materials, styles and designs from various provinces in Indonesia, even from abroad. For those who already in their 20s, you could get nostalgic feels by making a kite and drawing on it.
I love this museum. We can take a look various kites from all parts of Indonesia and all around the world. We can also coloring our own kites. They will give is one. So fun!
Good place to bring kids for educate about kite history and learning making kite on site. Artistic collections from all around Indonesia. Ticket price only IDR 15,000/person included making kite and materials. Room fully AC, guide is very nice person. Easy access with public transportation like busway.
Kite Museum of Indonesia was built by Endang W. Puspoyo at March 21, 2003. This museum exhibits collections of kites from Indonesia and foreign countries such as China, Japan, Netherlands, Vietnam, and other countries. There are also different sized kites from the 2 cm mini-kite, up to the gigantic Megaray, sized 9x26 cm. The museum achieved Indonesian Record Museum (MURIAward for the largest diamond-shaped kite-making in 2011.
Visiting here, you will get a lot of experience: watching documentary movie about kite, viewing many kinds of kite with a lot of varians: from shape, size, material, and the country origin of the kite. We also have opportunity to making and assembling a kite for yourself as a souvenir.
I visited Museum Layang Layang 2/4/19. It was a wonderful experience. The staff is very friendly, and they have a great collection of kites from all over, not just Indonesia. They first show a short video on the history of kite flying, and included in the cost of admission (15.000rupiahyou get to make a kite after the tour.If you explore around, you will also find Ibu Endangs personal collection of batik, musical instruments and art. You can spend 1-2 hrs to see everything.I highly recommend visiting. The grounds itself is beautiful and relaxing to stroll around. A hidden gem amongst Jakartas bustling city!
I have fun in here, bringing your kids to expect them thing around trying to fly the kite is the main idea. Quite helpful with the staff. They really doing a nice job, even the collections quite large from every corners in Indonesia, they dont put focus on the painting section, and quite creepy inside that building. Bring your kids here and you will not disappointed
Friendly staff, great pieces on display. Ypu wont regret coming here! Lots of activities too like kite making and batik drawing
Secluded place, this museum has extensive collection of kites. Kids could enjoy kite decoration activities here too.
Visiting this mini museum you can tell that this place is built by someone who really have passion in the world of kite mostly in Indonesia. Good place for kids to get some introduction & build some interest in kite. They have a nice built ready-to-fly kite to be purchased around IDR 50K. Very easy to flown by kids.Parking area is limited for 10cars & the access road also a bit narrow for 2 cars in 2 way direction.
Very nice and artistic place. You can learn about kite (Layang-Layangand try to make it by yourself.
This place is good for a quick visit with the kids, but anything else I wouldnt recommend it. The place is pretty small and not very tidy. It also lacked things to do for a museum. I gave it 3 stars because kids can create and paint their own kite and also create/paint other stuff such as clay jar, t shirts, and other things I dont remember. All in all, its an OK place to bring your kids.
Though the place is not too big and the activities quite simple, but it helps the children about the traditional games how to create creative kite. The entrance fee is affordable Rp 15.000/person
Great option for weekend activity. Only IDR 15k and you can visit the museum, watch the videos about kites and festival, and also decorating your own kite and try to fly it too..The place is a little bit secluded though.. Also there usually many students in the weekdays
Very educative. Good place to introduce kids with kites world.
Simple yet very interesting place that describes and shows kite history. They have small activities for kids where they have a chance to make a kite themselves.
cool kites collections! with admission fee of only idr 15k visitors can watch short movie about history of kites, enjoying museum display with a guided tour, and making free kites. fun educating activity for kids. they would running around the green yard to test-drive the kites too.
Is a small house with 2-3 rooms. You have to pay 15000idr per person, then they will show you 15 minutes video in a room about kites. Then the guide will see you around kite museum, actually not High class, but traditionally ok ok. Then they will offer you to paint kite, which you can take home. Overall good experience, but only one time visiting place. We have spent 1 hour only, as there was nothing to explore after painting kite.....
Best place to remain your childhood. You can make your handmade kite on this place
Best place for kids to know more about history of kites. My kid and I always comeback to this place every year.
Though the collection is quite many, but they are not properly displayed. But the service is good, the ticket includes a tour guidance into the two rooms only museum. After the tour, there is a free kite making lesson where you can bring your own creation kite home.
So many types of kites. This place will amaze you
Good place to know about kites history in Indonesia and from around the World. Many types of kites are on display from all over the globe. But their arrangement inside the building are quite a mess. Also the written info about each kite are too small or none at all. The building itself shows its age and needs repair in some places. But it is a good place to introduce childrens to kite and its story.
