Guided tours of an underground tunnel network, once a quarry, WWII fallout shelter & women's prison.
Nice place, So histrical and you can feel the period time at that time . strongly recommend 👍🏻
Okey so this was quite a disappointment.First of all the tour was only in Russian, we did not find an English-speaking guide anywhere, but fortunately we had a friend with us who spoke Russian and could translate something for us.Second, it is nice that the bus took us to the place of the tour, but after the end he did not return, it would be nice to inform about it at least in advance that you have to walk across the city back to the city centre.Third, it was overall nice experience but it is not definitely one of the place that is "must see" in Odesa, mabye the second Catacombs that are outside the city are better (more wild).
Very nice decorated very good looking musuiem,This place is tell real story of Odessa if you not visit it you not visit Odessa,So interesting
Amazing tour, so much history and our tour guide was very professional🙌🏻
Journey through Odessa catacombs right in the center of the city. The guide starts with the visit to the Soviet time bunker built in the times of the Cold war to give a sheltet to locals in the case of nuclear attack.
Very interesting Tour! Our guide, Igor, was very nice, competent and all that fluent in English, German, Ukrainian and RussianI recommend this to everyone
Well organized tour. If you are a non Russian/Ukrainian Speaker then make sure to call in advance and book a private tour otherwise youll be bored as youll understand very little. Tour times are 10 AM, 2PM and 5 PM. For group tours its 250 grivna per person. Private tours are 1,500 grivna. Its deep in the cave so its cool. Be prepared and wear comfortable shoes and you can bring a jacket.
This is more than just a walk into the catacombs under the city. Reasonably priced for an informative two hour tour and history lesson. Our guide was very knowledgeable as well as entertaining. During the hottest part of the summer heat, this is a great option.
These former limestone quarries are really a must in Odessa (there are several of them around the city stretching for tens of kilometres). You may visit this one with the excursion. It is not physically demanding and the helmet is provided in case taller people would hit the ceiling. Guides are really great and it is absolutely impressive.
A must visit in Odessa showing the war times. The tour was in the summer, however, the weather was pretty cool inside.Only issue is was the tour times as I could not find much info in the internet.A private English tour may cost around 500 with a local guide but you have to bargain with them.Highly recommended.
Vladimir was very helpful since I arrived at the location. The tour lasted more than 2hours in which he explained very well all the history from the catacomb. He kindly answered all our questions. Afterwards he called a taxi for me as I dont speak Ucranian. Beautiful Tour. I will take a jacket next time as It is a bit cold down there!
It would be perfect without constant sexist remarks and misogynistic jokes from the guide. Otherwise the place itself is very curious and worth a visit.P.S. I dont remember the name of the guide, but it was a group with orange helmets that entered at 10ish today, 27.06.
Awesome tour, very accommodating. Mostly Ukrainian/Russian for language ask your guide if you want english one.
On my opinion, it is the best experience , you cal get in Odessa. Here you can see different historical layers from miners of 19th century, till Soviet shelters of 30-40th
Julia was a great guide. The tour (in Englishwas very informative and interesting. So glad we came!
For history fans - a great feast of history, great guide Igor with outstanding English level. Different stories about miners, kidnappers, soldiers, prisoners, builders, no senses area, alcohol tasting, possible venue for unplugged concerts, great overall experience, stylish decor everywhere, easy to get lost, unique piece of history camouflaged in a garage!
It was fantastic. Russian guide Alexander (sashawas fabulous. Mixture of raw and daily tour catacombs. Catacombs are worth visiting..
We just finished the tour with Victoria. It was super interesting and we can highly, highly recommended! Take warm close and comfortable shoes.
Worth visiting for better understanding underground history of Odessa. Pretty interesting excursion of approximately 2Hr with even having a tea and local hard drinks;)
Interesting place and very informative excursions. The local guide Andrey is perfect! They propose to taste local vodka and tea with cookies.
Thankyou so much Igor Kalinin.I was so impressed by your English and your knowledge to explain in a way that even I could understand everything, and how you make every step so interesting with humour.I went as solo tourist so my one on one experience with Igor was of great benefit to me. The museum is amazing and the experience was amazing. 5 stars does not give enough credit. Thankyou Igor
The best place in Odessa. We had english speaking guide.
Amazing! Highly recommend this excursion. It was really interesting to learn about the history of Odessas catacombs, which covers the period from 19th century till nowadays
I really enjoyed my tour around the museum although I had a English tour with a guide called Leo. He had a map pin near the main plaza under Odessa Tours. I dont think the museum does English tours directly. They do Ukrainian and Russian tours directly.
Wow this is just an amazing tour. They take you down some amazing routes and see both communist era and older parts of the tunnels. We had to bring a translator with us but for us this wasnt an issue. Would recommend this to anyone in the city.
- Tour costs 425 grv. and takes 2 hours- guide was good- price is a little bit high for the tour- nothing special for me at the tour, just tunnels
Very interesting museum to visit, great guided tours.
Nice experience amd interesting history about odessa
Very interesting tour. I took a Russian language group tour but I only speak English, this not a problem as they had plaques in English at each stop. Fee was only $10 paid directly at the museum.
Not very friendly personal. Expensive, 250 uah per person.
Already for a long time I wanted to visit the catacombs in Odessa, but not in a very touristic excursion as are promoted at various touristic locations in the city. I decided to go for a (grouptour of this museum, and have no regrets!!:A really nice, interesting tour of about 2 hours (1.5km), presenting more different aspects of the catacombs than I had expected. Lets not spoil the experience by revealing details:It was certainly worth the price and I enjoyed it from beginning till end. Children can join the tour, but frankly speaking, sometimes they spoil the experience a bit for others by their behavior (flashing lights, noise when people try to experience the silence, etc.); parents should take their responsibility better or leave them at home. It is about 15-16 degrees C; not too cold but take some warmer clothes, just in case. I was considering to bring my professional photocamera but decided to use my phone camera instead, for some quick photos. In hindsight that was ok. Carrying a big heavy camera all the time would probably not have been worthwhile, considering that (in a group tourthere are not many opportunities to quietly take a photo without people (and lighting conditions are obviously not optimal:).Recommended!
Great guided tour through odessa catacombs. The guides were passionate, friendly and chatty. The tour included a little very cool surprise in the end :pack warm stuff - its cold down there ;)
Although there are a few english explanations posted (which were difficult to read in the dark), it would be helpful if there were written english-language explanations, allowing participants who dont speak Russian or Ukrainian to read up the texts while the guide explains. Just a few photostat copies, which would improve the experience a lot.
Amazing place! An Odessa must see. It was the second time I went and each visit had something different. I took my +70 year old parents and with a couple of extra breaks they did fine. They loved the history, stories, and the indepth knowledge of the guides.
Amazing little excursion, Lio was our guide. Very knowledgeable and funny. Great experience, worth doing if you have time.
Great tour of catacombs, took us approximately 2 hours to complete. Guide is very funny and told us a lot of interesting facts. Worth your time and money if you are visiting odessa.
Dont leave Odessa without a visit here. Really cool to see the old artifacts and explore the caves.
Nice and warm(winteror cold(summerplace, depends on the season.Very informative instructor.
Very interesting place and guide was very good, interesting and cheerful man.
Very interesting. Be prepared for a long walk down stairs and having to duck for low ceilings.
Exciting tour through the catacombs of Odessa with an excellent guide! The tour nicely covers the historical, geological and cultural aspects of the catacombs and youll literally get a taste of the nuclear winter!
Great tour! A must do for all tourists
Amazing and interesting experience. English guide was very charismatic so tour wasn’t in any moment boring, which is was pretty awesome because it lasted 2 hour.
Awful! A scam museum. Private run. Reviews obviously by friends. €50, 1500 uah for a tour! I waited 30 minutes to speak to an english speaker and was told its €50, 1,500 uah. Could just have a printed sign with prices. For €50 in ukraine i can buy a Lada car:). Go to public museums for €1- €2.
Very interesting even for me. Lot of new facts. My son love it.
Amazing and unique attraction into man-made caves that span 2500km of trails underground Odessa region. Tthe tour itself is 3-4km long and took us 3 hours to complete. Very knowledgable guides that love their job. Highly recommend private tour as its reasonably priced for 4-10 people. The group tours are a bit overcrowded.
Absolutely loved it! Great English guide and super fun and friendly. Also I really enjoy the history of the catacombs. It was interesting to see where it was related to the surface and what they did in the last.It was super cool! I suggest all to come see the catacombs. There was no light for most of it so sorry for not pictures
If you came to Odessa you have vist this place , you will have an outstanding time there , it will show you how people were living in these catacombs in ancient times .
We had an excursion in English. Sorry I dont remember the name of our guide but that girl was really great! So professional and funny))We spent about 3 hours there but it seemed like 30 minutes for us. It was so interesting to see it and to know something new about Odessa. I highly recommend this place as must visit for Odessa citizens and for guest of Odessa from all over the world
My husband and me really loved our trip to Catacombs. It is the place you must see in Odessa. Our guide is extremely experienced person and we enjoyed every minute we were there. We learnt a lot of historical facts and interesting stories about Odessa in different time periods.
