Unpretentious museum about the area's history of electricity, with vintage tools in basic exhibits.
Cheap entry fee, some of the exhibits had English translation, but the upstairs exhibits in particular did not have any English. Interesting content though about how the islands got electricity.
Super cute museum. My electronic engineer partner was enthralled by machines and engines. I however enjoyed the cute mini depictions of the island and the little rabbit game... Extremely cheap at only a few euros per person.
Surprising place to visit in Funchal. Realy nice.
really interesting visit with loads to see and a fascinating look into the history of the island
The history of Madeira and its electrical grid was interesting, specially seeing how fast the network expanded. However, the selling point for me was the interactive part in the second floor, which illustrated the way to generate electricity using various methods
Great museum with interesting artifacts, a nice looking cafe, and great interactive elements! Had a great time :)
Its very affordable but good overview of the evolution of the electric grid in Madeira and has descriptions in English and German. I recommend going!
Excellent museum with fun interactive parts.
Excellent museum displaying the history of electrc lights and power in Madeira, very informative, and hands on displays for alternative power sources
Neat
Amazing
Limited English descriptions for many of the exhibits but if your familiar with J type switchgear, Ruston and Mirrlees diesels you will find your way around! If you have many years in the industry get the 50% senior citizens rate.
Very interesting and also great for kids with a number of experiments regarding electricity. Recommended!
If youre in Funchal its worth a visit
boring
Very good service
had what i wanted
Not enough English signs but an amazing insight none the less. We loved the exhibits and the smells.
Excellent & wonderful museum... A visit you cannot missing...
One of the best!
Top
very informative
Hmm boring kinda
Fine
History of Madeiras electricity development. Located on a former plant with interesting history and experiences.
Great museum but very niche. If you like old British generators and machinary its worth a visit. Well laid out and informative with an interactive section upstairs for children
Great experience. Learn a lot about electricity history in the island.
Interesting place with informative displays of electricity generation in Madeira downstairs and fun hands on science section upstairs. Reasonable priced entry. Not too busy and friendly staff.
Interesting sidelight on power generation, distribution and Madeira.
Nice Place to be
Great overview of electricity supply on the island from its inception to the present day. Lots of models and machinery!!
Great place to let the small children learn wide variety of energy and electricity topics. free WiFi and restoom.
Really interesting museum
Very nice place!
Interesting museum if youre interested in electricity and how its produced.
Museum about the history of electricity, strong focus on the island Madeira, but not only focus.Lots of things to see, unfortunately not really detailed information for non-native speakers. On the second floor all kind of interactive for children. Entrance just a few euros for adults. Wheelchair friendly museum.
Interesting exhibits in a tranquil space. There isnt a huge amount of explaination but my electrical engineer husband made a good guide. It was nice to find some exhibits built by Rustons, in our home town of Lincoln. Our son enjoyed some of the interactive stuff upstairs. The staff were very helpful.
Part of the Levadas history and the Electricity spread across the island is on this ex Termo Electric Central now turned into a museum.
Good hands on museum
Its a very interesting museum.
Very interesting
Interesting!
Museum of electricity history in Madeira Island
Ideal for families. Information suitable for all ages. Nicely organized. Great personnel.
Great museum for those interested in an isolated electricity system. However there is limited English translations.
Very nice museum, if you are interested in the history of electrification of Madeira. On the other hand, we missed detailed specs of generators, or some kind of presentation in empty control room. No guide, tiny leaflet only. There is also some kind of an art exhibition on the first floor.
I was amazed by the museum and also by conference room. Just Wi-Fi didnt work... :(
For someone interested in all things electrical and history of infrastructure.
Waste of space!
Interesting place. :)
