Carrer de Sant Pius V, 9, 46010 València, Valencia, Spain, Yecla
Imposing, 17th-century building housing museum with major Valencian & Flemish painting collections.
Great museum! Totally recommend.
Nice place for an hour visit for Spanish painters fans.Free entrance, welcoming staff.
It’s a stunning place with sunning artwork. Everywhere you turn around to see is absolutely inspiring. I believe that one day is not enough to appreciate these beautiful art pieces. My favorite section: Joaquin Sorolla Archives
A fantastic place that everyone should visit in Valencia. A science and fun a meeting in this place. For the children is fantastic place that they can learn the thing from life and from school. For the adults is place to refresh their knowledge and to learn something new
Recommended if you like art, there are many sculptures and paintings to see. Beyond beautiful.
This place is lovely. I am not that into museums so please take that into consideration when reading this review. It had some interesting artwork that was all religious-based. It was written in Spanish and I think some of them might have been written in English but I can’t really remember. They have lockers for you to put your backpack in. It is free to go in so you don’t have much to lose. All the pictures looked a little bit the same to me and very religious. I am sure if you were more well-versed in the history of Spain you would be able to identify what was going on in there and if you were able to read Spanish.
Historical place to visit. The buildings are a mix of modern stylish and ancient buildings. The art pieces are beautiful as well. We took 1hr to tour the place.
Location : near center . Have bus directly arrive.Price : freeService : StanderI went there on week days its free and the staff very nice . Have a lot of painting and staff quite big have upstairs .Not so many people when i there . So its quite enjoy for me .
Most parts of the museum are focused in religious paintings. The entrance is free and the staff was friendly at the entrance. It opens all week, besides Mondays.
Beautiful, stunning paintings, and sculpture.Free in ,put backpacks on locked lockers, also free, photos allowed to be taken .
Art gallery located on the edge of Old Town Valencia worth visiting to escape the afternoon heat. Entry is free. Full tour of the entire gallery takes 1 - 2 hours.
Beautiful museum with lots of Spanish painters - and classic Valencian painters, too! Entrance is free and theyre open almost everyday. Its never too busy and there are gorgeous outdoor spaces to enjoy.
Very beautiful!! Must visit if you are visiting Valencia.
Great museum that compiles a vastly collection of religious Valencian artists works.
Very good museum, you need to visit it while In Valencia, and nice inside and outside with park right next to it.
The museum gets 5-stars from me for several reasons. At 2€ or less depending on your age or educational status its a bargain. The museum is peaceful, well-kept and has friendly staff. They have a fairly substantial collection of perfectly preserved religious-themed paintings along with some pieces carved in Alabaster. Their works span from the mid-1400’s into the 1800’s by talented and some well-known artists. The details and colors in many of the older works are still vivid, spectacular really, especially considering their age.Other than in one painting from the 1400’s of St. Michael the Archangel spearing an evil beast, almost no one else in any painting was really cracking a smile. Even the cat was angry. You would think that nobody had any fun at all for over 350 years, except for St. Michael.
A beautiful museum with excellent the display of works of art. 🖼🎨Lovely space, clean, well maintained. An absolute delight for all art lovers. It also has a beautiful garden. Entrance is free.
This was an unexpected pleasure (and not just because the museum is airconditioned and the 38°C Valencia heat could not be felt inside). Very good collection of medieval altar pieces, as well as a less surprising set of rooms in which works from the baroque era are shown. Some lesser works by well-known painters here (Velazquez, Goya, Ribera, Murillobut really the medieval section stands out. When we were there there was also a nice exhibition on Sorolla. Be sure to take a moment to relax in the two open courtyards (blue and pinkfor that truly Spanish feeling
Well air-conditioned gallery. Significant amount of Christian religious art. Some nice pieces and goo ld to look quietly around. No cafe and poor signage on different galleries. Free entry and open till 8pm most days except Monday
I am generally not a fan of paintings, but I found a good portion of the art pieces interesting and enjoyed my time here. Its also air conditioned and free.
Worth the visit! They have a large collection of arts and it’s free entrance.
Brilliant museum that doesnt just have renaissance religious art but a lot of more modern paintings as well. Im not sure if its free all the time but it certainly was when I went although I would definitely pay. Make sure you bring a euro coin for the lockers.
Too many art about god at the beginning
One of my highlights in Valencia. LOVE IT!❤️
As soon as I told the receptionist I was from the US she completely dismissed me and any my questions. I know my Spanish is not great but I try.She wanted nothing to do with me. The couple behind me however (Spanishwere given a warm welcome and lots of information. I just wanted some basic guidance so I could enjoy the museum.
The museum is spectacular. It has only 2 floors but it is worth visiting and the sculptures at the entrance are unique. It has a small outdoor garden which is beautiful but at that moment the fountain wasnt working. Also the entrance is free. Dont miss it especially if you like art.
Perfectly curated galleries showcasing fine art from the 12th to the 19th century. The religious art is beautifully presented with well preserved alter pieces. Free entry.
This museum is definitely a gem. Moreover, it’s free! Although I’m not a fan of medieval art, the collection here is quite impressive. There are some Sorolla’s paintings and artworks related to him. Don’t forget to check out the court garden; it’s super lovely. The staff members were also friendly.
A lot of valuable painting altar piece. Very nice display. Is this place a must visit museum in valencia and Free. By the way they should have english.
Free entry as of this writing… mostly religious paintings. A good museum to stop by to appreciate quality works of art, and also a great plan for a rainy day.
Free to enter. Lovely collection of Renaissance and 19th Century art with a focus on local artist Spanish born Sorollo.Good access and a spacious and well laid out building with plenty of washrooms.
Architectural gem with mainly 16th -18th Century Spanish art, including Soralla, Goya & Velasquez. Free admission and open every day except Monday.
If you are into culture and arts, this place is for you. I almost cried when I saw paintings of Velazquez, Goya and Ribera in real. The entrance is free of charge like most of the cultural things in Valencia, but Id go again even if I should pay.
The main collection of the museum are religious paintings. Although the surroundings in which the paintings are set is of top quality, the paintings themselves cannot always convince me. One exception for the more expressionistic section on the second floor. A must is to also visit the gardens next to the museum.
A must visit! A very interesting museum! Enjoyed with my daughter. There is a place where you can leave big bags, you just need to have 1 € with you. Friendly staff will tell you everything. Be sure to take the museum plan, its easier to navigate the building! Free admission on weekends. Sunday open until 14.00
The gallery is very interesting and well organized: a wide exhibition of the most precious Catalan and European art from XIII to the XIX century. Francisco Ribalta, Velasquez, Luca Giordano, and Bruegel are just a few names that you will find here
I like the vibes here. It is good place to relax yourself.
My Spanish isnt super great so I had a hard time with some of the signs and speaking to staff but overall nice experience. Been here twice, weekends are definitely busy but during the week you have the museum for yourself. Enjoy a sit in the garden as well! No fee to enter and a lot of art, although the corresponding signs didnt cover much information.
Great art collection, mainly paintings ot the Valencian authors, also good Spanish artist like Goya, Murillo and Velazquez. The temporary exhibition of Joaquin Agrasot is gorgeous.
Very enjoyable visit to the (free entrymuseum. Well worth a visit, and afterwards head to the Real gardens next door to rest the feet!
Very nice and well maintained museum, especially the last floor (lots of Sorolla and his followers). Don’t miss the impressive huge painting in the entrance! The only downside are the security guards, they follow you everywhere and it feels a bit u comfortable....(but that’s their job so it’s ok 😁)
Really nicely organized sections by periods and a beautiful architecture! Highly recommended, the upper room has 3 velazquezs and goyas. Should also visit the gardens nexy by!!
Really nice visit in Valencia to avoid the sun in the afternoon. The museum is huge and has an impressive collection. Free entrance.
This is a good place to go for a quick diversion from your day. I was able to experience it under an hour. There are other comments that it is too much religious artwork, and it is true. 99% of the pieces are religious but still worth the visit. It is also Free entry. Dont forget to check out the other wing and floors. Be aware also that English information is scarce. You will still enjoy and it is never crowded so you will get a quiet and intimate visit.
The pieces of art in the museum are just amazing, and the building in general is fascinating. However, I was disappointed to see that more than 90% of the museum covers the religious theme. Precisely, paintings on Jesus Christ and the virgin. I was looking forward seeing more variety.
A small but very worthwhile gallery. Entrance is free and the building is beautiful, with pleasant courtyards. The main collection is primarily medieval and Renaissance religious art, with galleries of more modern art (including a room of works by the important Valencian artist Joaquin Sorollaupstairs. There are also a series of temporary exhibitions. A restful place to spend an hour or so.
You should not expect the very big thing but a nice stop f.e. on the way to the beaches 😉 surprisingly free of charge. A bit religiously dominated and medieval Flamenco on the museum map is not the traditional dance 💃💥 from southern Spain 😉😯😂 I thought so to and so did the security guy, telling me that they changed the pictures revently 😎😂😂😂 the information is rather poor as we talk about a quite touristy city.....
I really appreciate the artwork placed on display at these museums, it was well worth my time! To top it off, entrance was free.
Fantastic museum featuring art and artefacts from about 700 years. Best bit - its free! The bottom floor is largely dedicated to Valencian Gothic Art, Renaissance and Baroque while the first and second floor display a collection of Spanish, Flemish and Italian art. Most famous painters include Joaquin Sorolla. The museum is located in a lovely building with several courtyards. Not a busy place, I was surprised. It also has a restaurant. Unfortunately, we didnt get a chance to try out the menu del dia which looked delicious on paper.
Very nice museum. Free entry. Large selection of Spanish religious art. Small selection of roman and romanesque artifacts. Quite a lot of the galleries were closed when I was there as was the shop. There was a temporary Picasso - Cela exhibition. Unfortunately very little of the permanent or temporary galleries has English translations. Nice cafe (menu is in the photos). Nice clean toilets.
