Calle San Jorge, 12, 50001 Zaragoza, Spain, Utebo
Archeological remains of a 1st-century AD Roman arena at the city's highest point, revealed in 1972.
rude treatment by this cafe manager
Incredible the finding of an ancient Roman city below the existing city of Zaragoza
Very good, interessant.
Interesting place to see history of a Roman theater. Very inspiring for the amount of work and scale of the structure.
Not much left. The ruins are heavily damaged. Malaga has a Roman theater in much better condition and its free.
Beautiful museum in town
Nice for those who are interested in the Roman ruins in europe
EUR 4 to enter. One of the largest theaters in Roman Hispania with capacity for more than 6,000 people and the largest in Spain discovered to date. There were several interesting features inside the museum but I was mainly awed by the theater itself and the state of its preservation. Was very glad that it was possible to walk among the ruins and see it from various angles.
Fantastic views!I love all things ‘Roman ruins’ so it was a perfect little visit.
Great museum of the Caesar Augusta Roman Theatre, a must see visit in Saragossa.Sundays is free, Mondays closed, otherwise the ticket 🎟 is 7€.Recommended to get all Roman attractions pass for 9€, so you can see 4 museums for a little more.
Well kept and clean. Its got a nice roof to preserve the walking platforms and the ruins.
Good place with a thousand year old history.
Awesome Museum depicting how buildings were built in the past.
Great presentation of historical elements
Well presented with good English coverage
A small yet informative and fascinating place.
The best of the Roman museums in Zaragoza. Well worth a visit
Very extensive interpretation of the theatre site, Roman entertainment in general and the later use of the site by Muslim and Jewish communities.Part of the 4 site CaesarAugustus pass, which Id recommend you buy
Really good museum, very well designed with a lot of information but not overpowering. Visually well designed too. Accessible intellectually and practically to children too.
There’s a lot of information on the construction of the theater and a video that goes into the history. Could be a bit more to it, but the ticket is fairly cheap.
I do history tours for a living so have seen my fair share of rubble. This was certainly a surprise! It’s way undersold! Very few people ever talk about it, and at the point of going I was the only one there! The museum lays it out simply and effectively. Well done
A nice Cafe.I had the privilege to listen to The Smiths, while staring, thru a glass wall, at some cats slowly passing over the marks of the great roman civilization.
The story of how they were able to excavate and preserve this ancient Roman Theatre is worth watching inside the museum.. the placards that show the perceived views as you walk around the boardwalk are very helpful..
Awesome. They have done a great job of preserving and displaying the ruins.
The Romans were so influential in shaping the life across all of Europe. If ever in zaragoza you cannot fail to visit this museum. It is worth every second spent their.
There is a wonderful film, many models, and the ruins of the theater are glorious.. Must if you love Roman archaeology, history.
Five stars because it is free - well it is if you just walk around the edge. You can go inside and find explanations, but it is very impressive from outside the railings.
Loved the blend of history and modern architecture.
It was closed when I came, but on the right side of the museum, there’s a cafe from which you can see the whole place for free.
Recommended. As suggestion: Every first Sunday of the month, the tickets are free.
Not much left but its a very informative display of the city history through the last millenials with a museum built in two areas : a walkboard outside in the theater remains, and inside a two - level museum display. Small enough to go through in an hour or so.
Very cool, liked this alot!
Best of the four Roman experiences the town has to offer. You can do the four Roman sites for the price of 7€ ticket. Takes a half day
Great to see history and learn more about Caesar Augusta. The 15m movie in the auditorium is in Spanish but with English subtitles. Its worth watching
Stepping back through history, do not miss this amazing site in Zaragoza!
Good museum with and interesting video about the site and history of the area. Fantastic ruins which is good value for money when the entrance ticket is purchased as a part of a bundle to visit the other Roman sites.
A very interesting archeological location, closely surrounded by apartment buildings that most probably hide deep under more historical artifacts. A real curiosity.
Close when I was there on Sunday around 4PM. But was able to take these photos from the cafe.
I didnt expect this museum to be such a gem when viewing it from outside, but really enjoyed it and would visit again! Very well-done displays with excellent information.
The most impressive of all the Roman museums in Zaragoza. The theater under a giant roof is beautifully preserved and the museum is pretty good as well. If you only go to one Roman ruins in Zaragoza, this is the one to visit.
Wonderful piece of history, Beautifully reserved and offers a great deal of insight to not only the Roman history of the site, but also the work that went in to the excavation s and archeological discoveries that led to the site becoming the museum that now stands. The museum building itself holds a detailed account of the technological feats achieved during the period of the Amphitheatres use. There is also an offhand short film showcasing the work and poeple involved with uncovering and preserving the great structure found. The only negative thing to say is that the shop is near non-existent and that some of the presentation feels a little dated. But the Amphitheatre itself is a stunning and must see for anyone interested in Roman history and architecture.
Very ineresting :)
What an amazing find in this bustling city. So great to see such great history being preserved.
This is a great archaeological site. I m so happy they didnt reconstruct much and where they did, they did so without ruining the authenticity of the historic remains. Yet the displays around the site, enables you to fill in the "gaps".The exhibition in the adjacent museum is also very well done. Thank you city council, for your vision and well executed project.
Great how the have uncovered the mysteries of the past and brought it to life for all to see. I must of you are a fan of History especially roman
Worth visiting. I have never been to a Teatro before, so it was an amazing experience.
Best of Zaragozas Roman museums, not much of the theatre left, but enough remains to understand the scale and layout of the building.
Wow! Theyve invested a huge amount of money in excavating the ruins and building a museum next to it to tell the story. Worth a trip if you like Roman ruins. Zaragoza is not over run with tourists so it feels like a real place. There are two other Roman excavations nearby that are smaller but also very well done.
Fantástic Roman Theatre l BCTop ten must see in Zaragoza.Opening hours:Monday, closedTuesday to Saturday, 10- 14 h and 17 - 21 hSunday 10-14:30
This is by far the best of the 4 places on the Caesaraugusta trail (but since it only costs a little more to see the other three, I would recommend getting the full ticket). It has a great 15 minute video describing the archaeological works which is very information (and inadvertedly entertaining in its narration!). The museum is wonderful and provides great context to the ruins of the theatre, explaining many details of the construction as well as of the theatrical aspects.
