Went there on a Saturday, bought tickets there line was long but was going fast so all was well. Food not allowed in even if you intended to keep it for later, I was asked to dump my lunch in a trash can next to the bag scanner, then I learned there were lockers you could use for temporary storage, it’s best to visit the place first thing when you have the energy for it-it’s huge! Food quality and price was horrible at the cafe but at least I enjoyed the gift shop:)

Magnificent museum but do take a guided tour. One company is offering tours for only up to 6 people for 50 Euros. Our guide Macarena was excellent! First visit 9/12/22.

Amazing! Such a variety of great paintings!I would strongly recommend to start with the first floor, then the second and at last the ground floor. In this way you will be fully concentrated for the best floors in the beginning! If you dont want to wait to enter just buy the ticket in advance online!

Save time for this visit as it is a very big collection. No that much waiting time for getting tickets and admission, rooms are spacious, dispose time for visiting all floors. Masters and paintings from a variety of schools. Its a must if you visit Madrid.

Supposedly the best museum of Spain. Its a good place to come if you love art, but you might find it boring/dull if youre not.Try to come in the free hours listed on their website. Also, the bathrooms are awful.

15 euro admission. Worth paying 9 extra to get the book. Come earlier during the weekday for less crowds, but it might still be busy. Plan to spend about 2 hours here, or more if you like art.

For your Madrid tip museum experience, if you are just a regular tourist, then visiting this museum only is adequate.Huge building, mostly paintings, religion, politics (related to Spanish history), and some realists. (But not same league as the Louvre.)Spend two to four+ hours depending if you are an art lover and have hired an audio guide.I bought my Basic Ticket (Euro15online, and went straight in showing the QR code. This museum does not allow photographing. I took one without realising.

I had the privillege to visit Prado Museum for the first time. The place is super big. I bought the ticket on the spot and queue for a while for €15. You can visit the museum for free if you are local at 2 hours before its closed (6-8 pm).The direction signage of the museum is not very clear. One of the entrances is exactly above the ticket booth area. The museum is divided into rooms, based on the artists. It will be helpful if there is a summary of the direction in front of the stairs.I felt a bit overwhelmed with the number of the paintings shown here. It is super a lot!! The paintings are beautiful.I cannot finish the whole rooms, even I didn’t have chance to go to planta -1I definitely will come back when it is a free time slot. You cannot take picture inside. But, make sure you explore the merchandise shop. They have very very nice selection.Definitely one of the places to visit when you are in Madrid!

The Prado has an wonderful collection of fine art from Spanish masters like Goya and Velasquez to El Greco and Bosch. Dont forget to save some museum time for the The Black Paintings. I highly recommend going on a tour to see this museum. *NOTE - you cannot take photographs inside the museum

Great museum! We went for the Goya and the collection did not disappoint. The last 2 hours of the day, the museum is free to enter. You will still have to reserve tickets (at no costto get in even if you go at the end of the day. Its best to reserve them online ahead of time so you can get the earliest spot for the free hours. There is also a gorgeous cathedral across the street that is beautiful at night!

Classical art. Lots of it. Lovely visit but preferred Thysssen and Reina Sofia with their range of art styles and artists across the ages. Free tickets can run out especially on Sunday. Useful tip: collect free tickets earlier on the day of your visit (opens at 10so no need to queue, nor any chance of disappointment. Also avoids large queues at 6pm (final photo).

I went here after doing some acid in the park. I highly recommend it. Great fun for the whole family.Particularly the Hieronymus Bosch exhibition was both a window into my own soul and its many desires, as well as a mirror that allowed me to cast my gaze back and see myself for the true being that i am.Good bathroom facilities also.

I arrived at 11am on a Monday, and the line was already long; do consider booking ticket online. There’s no wifi at all in the museum, also no photos allowed. Wonderful Spanish paintings from 1400 to 1800; lots artists were working for the Spanish Royal families. I was in National Gallery of London, and Musée d’Orsay in Paris, both were with great wifi and no restrictions on interior photos; they should consider updating and changing their policies.

Excellent collection of artwork. The museum is home to a 7500 paintings, 8000 of drawings and 1000 sculptures. It is open everyday from 10 AM till 8 PM (on Sunday until 7 PM). The entrance fee is 15 euro (guided tour costs 35 euro). But what is worth to know is that after 6 PM (5 PM on Sundaythe entrance is free of charge. Pity that taking photos inside the museum is strictly prohibited.

Brilliant museum with plenty of stunning paintings and sculptures from different artists. Free entry for any students under 25 which was brilliant for our group of 6, otherwise €15 standard entry with many criteria bringing the price down depending on your status. Only thing that I dislike was the ban on any sort of photography or videos inside the building, but a must visit.

Probably the first museum Ive ever been to where I was impressed all the way! Renaissance artwork is extremely different and theres so much more details. Cant find a lot of this type of artwork in Chicagos museums, at least. Really enjoyed my time at the Prado! Since my bf is an artist and was more attentive to detail, we spent close to 2 hours to get through the whole museum. Highly recommend you buy tickets in advance because there was a long queue that we were able to avoid!Pictures are not allowed in the exhibits FYI!

I recommend to buy tickets online as it can be crowded if you will not come early. The paintings are amazing but you cant take videos or photos which is ashame if you want to record your memories here. But you can buy a guide book when you buy a ticket. I advice to go to 0 level first because most of the older paintings are located there.

I’m a big fan of Spanish artists like Goya and Velasquez, and since I was little I dreamed about seeing the real painting Las Meninas. So this was an out of the world experience for me and may be I’m a little biased in my opinion but I truly loved the experience. The only thing I can say is that they don’t allow to take pictures (I managed to take a fewand the attitude of the employees is not very kind. But being there is an amazing experience. If you to Madrid you need to visit.

Although less popular than other museums in Europe, the Prado is by far the best painting collection in Western Europe. This comment is based in the quality of its masterpieces, its great curation, and the intimacy you enjoy while navigating its corridors. It is free everyday after 6 pm, yet, I suggest to go on a weekday between 4-6 pm (I know, you have to pay), but that way you avoid the crowds of school trips and the crowds willing to catch the Prado for free. If you have several days in Madrid, another option would be visiting by parts a couple of days after 6 pm.

Went there on a Sunday early afternoon at it wasn’t very crowded. Still, the more famous paintings were hard to see. Buy a ticket online to avoid the queues especially on a hot day. The museum is pretty well organized. You will need a while in there if you want to see everything. We spent about 3 hours without looking into detail. The Goya collection is very good and interesting, so if you don’t have enough time skip straight to it. No pictures and videos in the rooms.

There is so much here that it is not possible to view all the works in one trip if you dont spend the whole day. However, I did peruse my the works of my favorites, Goya and Velasquez. Also, I spent a lot of time looking at the sculptures of persons and ditties of Roman and Greek mythology.

The museum has some of the most incredible and iconic paintings in European history. I can see why it’s one of the must visit art museums in Spain and in Europe as a whole.I really liked Las Meninas by Velazquez, it’s seriously such a unique perspective. I also liked Goya’s paintings. El Greco has some works here as well. It goes to show how over history Spanish painters have made impressive works of art that can stand on its own. I also liked Peter Paul Rubens works in the Grand Hall. There is also a painting from Juan Luna, a national artist from the Philippines. The layout is very clean, and I especially loved coming a second time around 16:00-17:00 on a January weekday when I had halls to myself. There’s a good reason why it’s popular as well if you come on a weekend or a holiday, it’s seriously an impressive space.

Amazing artists and artwork, maybe a little too much religion-themed paintingsWe spent 4 hours in the museum, it is huge, but it does not have too much variety. Mostly religion-themed paintings or portraits. There were some amazing and very famous pictures in Prado, but overall I got bored of the theme of the paintings at the end.Very nice line of the artists, it was a great experience, maybe a little too much religion related pictures.

Large, monumental, spectacular, etc.,... these are the qualifying adjectives that come to mind when you are in front of this majestic museum / art gallery, The Prado Museum is one of the largest art galleries in the world with the best representation of Spanish painting of all time and a large and important collection of paintings from other countries, mainly European artists and schools... but also if we join the Prado with two other large art galleries/museums very close, such as the "Reina Sofia " of contemporary art and the "Thyssen Bornemisza" without a doubt we would be talking about the golden mile of the painting museums of the world in Madrid, in addition this great trilogy can be completed nearby with great visits such as the Parque del Retiro, the Hotel Palace, the Atocha station, the Botanical Garden, the Jerónimos church, etc, etc.,... it is not Versailles but it is one of the great European palaces without a doubt, and it is also in the heart of Madrid next to the Oper a and other notable monuments of the capital, if the visit to the palace is completed with the Sabatini gardens and a tapas in that traditional neighborhood of Madrid, you will have a king size premium ration of top-of-the-range art, with which you will end up more how satisfied...

It is okay. Many of the pictures are very samey, there are hundreds of portrait pictures in there. It is a great museum but I think perhaps people set the expectations too high for it. If you are here for multiple days, I would recommend perhaps spacing it out over several days during the free hours from 6:00 to close at 8PM. You still have to reserve your free ticket online. Youre not allowed to take pictures but I was able to take these before they told me no.

This is a massive museum, featuring paintings of many European painters such as Diego Velazquez, el Greco, Francisco de Goya and Peter Paul Rubens. It houses Las Meninas, La Maja Desnuda and many other famous paintings that people would want to see.I did not think the experience was a great one, though. First off, the museum is way too big and the flow sometimes doesnt make sense. The way some paintings are exhibited is very overwhelming.Bathrooms are far from everything, pictures arent allowed and the museum personnel is savage; acting like rude police every time. While it is good for appreciating the paintings, the museum as a whole was a bit disastrous. Plan to spend at least half a day and dont bring small children.

It’s a nice museum with many great artworks of the history but I found it way too overcrowded and overwhelming. Would recommend to go to the Thyssen museum instead. Also, they don’t allow to take pictures inside. If you do plan to go, consider spending at LEAST half a day. It’s a huge museum with lots of artwork and history to assimilate. It also has a nice cafeteria to have break while you visit.

The museum is not far from the city center and is easily accessible by foot or with public transportation. This museum is huge and you could spend an entire week in it and still not have seen everything. Tickets can be purchased online or at the entrance. If you just want a glimpse of the museum or have the time to visit on several days, the entrace is free everyday from Monday to Saturday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Sundays and on holidays. Apart from a few rooms, its not allowed to take pictures.

Finally I get to see the real painting of Bosch’s Garden of Earthly Delights! It’s hard to imagine someone from the 1400s painted this! And of course, the museum also housed many other famous paintings! This is the reason why I’m in Madrid! Mission accomplished. No photo taking in the museum though I saw some did… not my problem 🤣

This magnificent museum contains some of the most recognizable and most all inspiring works of art to be found anywhere in the whole world. Here you will find works by Goya, Velasquez, Rembrandt, Renoir, and all of the other famous painters that you can name. The attendance in the wardrobe are a little rude because they only allow one item to be stored per party, which makes no sense. Try to consolidate your belongings before you approach the wardrobe. There are also no photos allowed in the museum. Pictures on the gallery walls suggest that there might be an audio guide but we could not find one in the museum or online, which is a shame.

I was a bit disappointed with the Prado museum, maybe because I had high expectations. I read that its in the same league as Louvre, Hermitage in Russia and British Museum. Well, Ive been to all these places and Prado is not in the same league. It has mainly paintings (small number of sculpturesand the number of paintings is less than in other museums I mentioned. But the bigger problem is that many paintings look alike. The variety is pretty low. There is the limit on how many paintings of Jesus and saints you can see. For me the best room was the Hieronymus Bosch room and judging by the number of people in that room I was not the only one who thought so. In addition they dont allow you to take pictures inside! (but I did take a few). I allocated 2 hours for the visit, but was out after one hour. They do have a nice cafeteria near the entrance.

The Museum Prado is the great place you should visit being in Madrid. There are many items were nice to see by my own eyes. The single ticket costs just 14€, for minors with an adult tickets are for free, but it wasnt possible to buy it online. The queue wasnt so long, but anyway better booked your tickets online. Unfortunately, its forbidden to take pictures inside of the museum. What a disaster!
