Primera Sección del Bosque de Chapultepec S/N, San Miguel Chapultepec I Secc, Miguel Hidalgo, 11580 Ciudad de México, Mexico, Los Reyes La Paz
National-history museum in a stately castle with elaborate architectural details, art & artifacts.
Only castle in America - diverse pieces, well kept
Great
Very beautiful- some things to know:No water or drinks allowed. They check inside your bag.Its about a 20 minute wait to buy tickets. You can only pay in-person, not online. They do not accept $500 peso bills. Bring smaller bills. Its $85. You can also pay with card.It gets you access to both the castle and the historical museum. There is $10 locker storage if you dont want to carry your stuff. I had a medium sized backpack and was not required to store it.Once you pay, its a 10 minute walk uphill. You will pass by the snail museum.Once you get to the castle, you cannot bring a stroller inside. There is a spot to put it.For the castle, you cannot go inside the rooms, but you can admire from the hallway. The castle has both English and Spanish signs/explanations, but the historical museum mostly only has Spanish. There is a gift shop and free toilets inside. You have to wear a mask, but I saw many folks who took theirs off once away from the guards.Technically youre supposed to pay a fee to take pictures, but most everyone I saw was taking pictures, not sure if they actually had permits.Beautiful views!!!
The visit is mostly in spanish only. The building execpt some room is pretty Dark, but there is some really interesting objet from the time that are beautiful to see as the view ob the city.
Awesome place with a lot of history. A lot of weaponry and battleships and aeroplanes used during the war. One of the best museums Ive been in the world. It was free when we entered in the weekend but it costs about 800 peso in the weekdays. Well worth it, in my opinion. You can also go out to the terrace, from which you can see the entire forest as well as some of the city with the besutiful skyscraper. The surrounding park is also amazing to walk once youre finished with the castle!
The museum is full of historical articles, so clean, organized, friendly stuff. They have private tours too. You have to wear the mask all the time while inside and no liquids or food.
Before the United States existed this Castle in Mexico governed Mexico
Nice place to learn about history!
The castle is housing the museum of national history. With respect to this museum, the explanations are only in Spanish, and the visit has very little interest for non Spanish speakers. However you can visit the rest of the castle which is definitely worth visiting (historical rooms, garden, and stunning view of the city)
Here is one of my favorite places in CDMX, after MNA, here you can find all about Mexican history after the Conquer. And you will enjoy a beautiful view of the city.
Nice place to learn about Pre-hispanic history or pre-Columbian, Hispanic Colonization and the wars against the North American and France, even the Mexican history internal conflicts. Please take your time.
It was dope to be there, i missed this place so freaking much. The only castle in all of the Americas
The castle was beautiful, make sure to explore. Lots of hidden gems.
Great place exelent experience
Beautifully stunning castle and gardens! A must see!!
Amazing place to visit, very organized lots of information
Security guard confiscated my water and drank it.
A wonderful museum full of history and work of the ages
Mexican Heritage Museum a Must when in town!
Amazing place to visit
Didn’t visit the natural history museum, visited the anthropology museum. But maybe we hung out in the vicinity too long.
Beautiful, strangely curated. Information isnonly available in Spanish!
Incredible castle tour, its amazing how big it is
It is a good place to visit if you like amazing views of the city. You have to walk uphill about 10 minutes to enter the castle and once inside it youll find it to be very much like any good museum with lots of exhibits and displays. Its a great place to learn Mexican history. I recommend you wear comfortable shoes, otherwise youll miss on the experience by being tired all the time. Take your camera with you as there are many good spots for a photo session.
Gorgeous views, stunning period art, handsome suites, and manicured gardens. If you are a student or a teacher remember to bring jour credentials along for free entry. Also, the best time to visit on a Sunday is by 10am (before the deafening crowds ascend on the castle).
Extraordinary view at the top. Definitely worth it.The only minus is they dont have English translation inside the museum.
A historic place here in Mexico City that represents a glimpse into many aspects of Méxicos history. The views are great and the gardens are beautiful. You cant take drinks or food into the castle, but there are lockers at the entrance where you can store your food and other belongings. I wish they had more activities to engage kids in a nice way to excite them about the history of Mexico. Also, it would be great to have the descriptions in English as well.
Great Great experience beautiful space learned so much while having a good time with family
The lights werent working in at least 3 rooms with no windows. I wish there were more cards (etiquetasin English. 5 stars for the rest.
Family fun, long up hill walk to the castle. Great view of the city, and very interesting National information, best to go on Sundays as it is generally free for everyone. No food or water allow, but they have fountain drinking water and very clean restrooms.
Very nice place to revisit a bit of Mexican history
Beautiful
It was amazing check out my YouTube channel at sebastian udala. For the videos 📹
Fantastic, maybe my favorite thing I saw in Kansas City.
Interesting exhibit in a stunning building.
Very pretty! Cannot bring drinks or food though. Lockers available
This is one of the most beautiful places on earth! The Castle, which were the residence of Kaiser Maximilian. Bare in mind, that there are in fact 2 museums there. One tells you about Mexico and the way to independence (with a lot of Murals in the stile of Diego Riveraand the wounderful part with the original enterieure of the Emperor. If you are handicapt or not to good by walking (and only than), tell them, when you buy your Tickets. There is a hidden Elevator! Dont miss this jewel. You are also granted with a beautiful view over the city.
Beautiful building and museum. For disabled individuals and wheelchair users, there is an elevator that takes you up to the museum from the entrance near the bottom of the hill. There is a separate elevator in the museum that takes you up to the second floor. We only saw part of the second floor, so unsure if theres a way to access the other half other than by taking a flight of stairs.
this place appears to be a slight upgrade from my airbnb
MUSEUM TIME!!!LOVED IT 😊
The castle is beautiful. It definitely needs around 2 hours to explore it properly. The ticket is 80 pesos. Food and water are not allowed inside the castle. Be prepared to walk and wear comfortable shoes. All descriptions in majority of the castle are written in Spanish. It would be helpful if English translation is also provided for tourists.
Thry took out money way too fast before they even explained how it worked. No one offered us a guided tour which would have been nice.
This is a must-see museum in Mexico City!Beautiful architecture with historic artifacts and paintings by some of Mexicos most acclaimed painters and muralists. From the upper level of the building, the view of Paseo de la Reforma provides quite a juxtaposition between Mexicos past (as represented by this buildingand todays modern Mexico, as embodied by the tall buildings in Paseo de la Reforma.
First visit tourist attraction in city.Nice forest walk around the hill and finally reach the top. There’s a amazing museum as well.Great city skyline view.Glad there’s a such place in busy. Will definitely come back again next time.Recommended!!
Entry is free but all the exhibits are in Spanish 👎🏻
The castle is beautiful and it’s history is rich and fascinating. There was an amazing exhibit on the ancient mexicas shields upstairs when we went and we were lucky enough to receive a free guided tour by a very nice student who explained everything in much greater detail than if we were without him. The lack of one star is because the museum offers no information in other languages other than Spanish which is a shame for the world as it doesn’t educated people on the wonderful history of Mexico and the castle. I would recommend somehow finding a good guide to teach you about the history of the building and history of Mexico while there.
Beautiful castle, great views, but unfortunately the narrative is only in Spanish and theres no audio guide available
The castle itself, interior, exterior and views were stunning! But dont expect to learn any national history if you dont speak Spanish - all information is only in Spanish. You can pre-book tours in English and I assume other languages, however this is done online and not much help once you get there.
Excellent building with impressive architecture. The interiors are amazing!!
The only castle in its class in Latín america, you will hace to walk a little bit to get there, but totally worth it!Avoid sundays, since its completely packed and you wouldnt enjoy it.
