Great collection of artifacts and displays. I recommend going with a tour guide who can properly explain the history and story of the artifacts. If you decide to go on your own, get there a little before it opens so you can get ahead of the line of kids on a field trip.

The exhibits were wonderful but in view of limited English translation available to explain on the exhibits we did not fully enjoy the experience. The museum shd consider providing audio guide in english.

This is the most enjoyable museum I have visited since I visited the British Museum as a kid!Very informative, key descriptions were in both a English and Spanish. Strongly suggest you see the 30 minutes introductory video before you navigate through the museum to give yourself a foundation of the rich history of Mexico. You won’t be disappointed.Ticket is 85 peso at the door. There is also a huge open space where you can sit in the garden to enjoy some local music and ad hoc performances.

Such an awesome museum. I’m typically not into them but the pieces are extremelyDetailed and ornate. We were there for 2 hours and still didn’t get to see everything. Suggestion would be to see the outdoor things first because they closed them about 1 hr before closing.

This place is huge! You honestly could spend all day here learning about everything. I would definitely invest in a good tour guide and just do this museum on its own and do the castle museum a different day.

The museum is huge! I’d recommend saving at least 2-3 hours to walk through it. The exhibits are beautiful and have lots of artifacts displayed. There’s also a good mix of indoor/outdoor spaces to explore.

Please put this as your first destination in Mexico if you prioritize learning about its history and culture. I only spent one day here and I wasnt able to finish the whole museum, but I wish I had two days. There is so much interesting information and I feel like I knew Mexico on a whole different level after the visit.

Awesome, worth the stop. You could spend half the day here, if not more. Cheap entry. Theres a nice restaurant on site. Tons to see. Bathrooms were clean, which was a plus. The bosque de Chapultepec was right across the road. Tons of vendors outside too made things interesting.

This place has a lot of great exhibits and a lot of opportunities to learn about the culture of the Aztecs. unfortunately if you do not speak Spanish less than half the sites are translated in English so if you do not pay for a tour there is a lot you will miss. They did not offer audio tour devices. This is a big miss.

The must-go museum when in the city of Mexico! The building is relatively new and the exhibits cover a large variety. A great anthropological exhibition of Mexico, which worths enjoying, and a relatively low ticket price; the ticket cost was 85 pesos per person (full ticket). No long cues, despite how popular is the museum, and all the COVID safety measures were followed.

Absolutely staggering amount to take in …On par with the Caro Egyptian museum when it comes to large items. The outdoor displays were very impressive too. There is a great restaurant in the museum too. The gift store had some items priced cheaper than some sellers in the street. The only reason I can’t give it five stars is because for one of the top ten visited museums in the world I thought more of the exhibits would have English alongside Spanish in their explanations… unfortunately my Spanish is a work in progress.

One of my fav museums I ever visited. It’s beautiful, had a lot of artifacts and interesting information. There’s also a lot to be found in English, so you won’t be lost if you don’t speak Spanish. The only downside is that the museum is so big that you get lost in all there is to see. It’s not easy to make a coherent story out of everything. Nonetheless, the museum (85MXis absolutely worth it, with stunning gardens and huge replicas.

One of my favorite places to visit in Mexico City. I easily spend half a day here learning in the different exhibits which include Central Americans, Mayans, Aztecs, Oaxacans. Many stone sculptures and beautiful ancient art. Several of the rooms have recreations of archeological scenes. There are murals in the Teotihuacan exhibit and tombs in the Oaxaca and Maya rooms. There’s also a large courtyard to relax when you need a break from all the walking. $85 pesos per person, about 4 dollars.

World class museum in Mexico City biggest park. Entry fee is really cheap, the only thing I didn’t care for was the layout of the building/exhibits. Upstairs or down, building to the left, or to the right? We were never quite sure so I was always feeling like I was missing something. But the quantity and quality were on par with anywhere else I’ve been in the world. This place deserves a high place on your things to do list in Mexico City

A gem of a museum. There may be a bit of a wait to get tickets but the wait is worth it. The admission price is only 5 USD so it is incredibly affordable, compared to US museums, to visit multiple days.According to my local relatives, you need to allocate at least two days if you want to see every exhibit. I visited for about 5 hours and I did not see even half of the exhibits so definitely allow yourself quite a bit of time if youre like me and want to read every plaque and admire every little detail. It was an amazing place to learn about the diverse groups that have inhabited the country and to learn more about my ancestors and culture. Wear comfortable shoes because youll do a lot of walking. Also if you dont speak Spanish, you may want to bring along someone that can translate for you since most of the info is in Spanish.I dont recommend the restaurant, but if you really want to eat there, its not terrible.

This was my favorite experience in the city! I didn’t even manage to get all the way through with seeing everything. After 3 hours, I was exhausted but really wish I had completed so it’s such fantastic history and works and all so well documented and maintained. Truly a beautiful place and honestly, what a landmark! 10/10, you simply must go.

We visited off of the back of our Teotihuacan trip and found the museum quite good. The museum is split into a lot of different sections and honestly if you want to see everything you will need an entire day. It was huge and we only managed to get through 4 exhibits in 1.5 hours. The main signs are translated but a lot of the information on individual pieces was only in Spanish - this is fine but something I wish Id known in advance. The museum itself is very interesting and nicely laid out with things to see both inside and outside. It was good and pretty inexpensive to visit. Combine it with a trip to the park.We didnt need to buy a ticket in advance but when you enter you go through a bag search and security check and have to check in any bigger bags to their lockers (free). It was very clean and open.My favourite thing was a sad frog statue. It is big and amazing! No replicas to buy though... Sad times.

Absolutely impressive collection, and entrance is only 85pesos, worth the visit no doubt. There are 2 floors, each having 11 halls. The ground floor is the Archeology area, takes you around the regions ancient cultures, habits, beliefs, artifacts, etc.Upper floor is the Ethnography area, exhibiting Mexicos indigenous groups current cultural diversity.Would take at least 3hours to comfortably tour the inside.Cons:- only a few descriptions have English translation as well, 95% is Spanish only.- most artifacts are not dated.- half of the top floor was locked down.

One of highlights of our visit to Mexico City was visiting the National Museum of Anthropology. An amazing museum showing the national treasures of Mexico and Mayan history. The spaciousness is impressive and the vast square concrete umbrella in the courtyard with waterfall is stunning. You could spend all day in here and it is worth getting a guide to show you the different rooms and timeline of Mexican culture.

Only the ground level galleries were open during our visit due to construction. Still so much to see! The museum does not have much English on the placards. Get the app.PRO TIP 1: There is a brand new, free app that offers a guided audio tour released Jan 2022. Get the QR code to download from the information desk.PRO TIP 2: Come early, as the large groups arrive en masse after lunch.PRO TIP 3: There are self-serve ticket kiosks to use instead of waiting in line for a ticket.PRO TIP 4: The welcome theater show is worth the time. Its well produced and sets the stage for the museum.

Very thorough overview of human development, including a bit of evolution, then tracing the history of civilizations in Mexico. Lots and lots and lots of pots and sculptures. I don’t agree with most people that this is one of the best museums in the world, but if you have any interest in history it’s worth a visit. One hour was enough for me.

SIMPLY AMAZING, there are so many things that you have to go through everything in 2 to 3 days because there is the first floor that explains relatively all the archeology and has many rooms such as introduction to anthropology, settlement of America, Preclassic in the Central Highlands, Teotihuacan, the Toltecs and the Epiclassic, Mexica, Oaxaca, Gulf Coast, Maya, the North and finally the West. The second floor is Ethnography rooms, consisting of Indian villages, Gran Nayar, Pureecherio, Otopame, Sierra de Puebla, Huasteca and Totonacapan, Mayan villages of the plains and jungles, the Nahua, the northwest and Mayan villages in the mountains. There are exits to the gardens, a consultation room, restrooms, a temporary exhibition hall, two auditoriums, a restaurant, elevators for the disabled, a museum souvenir store, and a national library of anthropology and history. Those who still do not know this place, run to visit it, it is advisable to be comfortable because it is too much walking since there are a total of 24 rooms and the rooms are too large.

Other-worldly trip inside a world-class museum. Stunning collection of artifacts and history. Beautiful space with prudent Covid restrictions (at the moment). Fun to walk around on a nice day. Like most amazing museums, it would take days or more to properly appreciate it all. Fans of the Mayans and Aztecs won’t be disappointed. Bucket list stuff.

The entrance fee is $85 Mexican peso. Its massive inside. Thousands of artifacts and sculptures you can see. It will take you two to four hours to tour inside. They guards will ask you to put your backpack in front of you or if its too big, you can leave it on the left side of the entance. This museum is a must-see in Mexico city

Great museum with unique artifacts but there is a lot of room for improvement. The placement of items inside each exhibit seems random and does not follow any chronological order, which makes following the story of any specific civilization unnecessarily confusing. Virtually all the descriptions are written in Spanish so get ready to use translate apps all the time and make sure to have a battery pack for your phone. They provide an app that has some audio description in English, however, the app is not maintained well and is extremely buggy. Moreover, there is no good way to figure out which items are included and the app or how to find them aside from a couple of pre-planned tours that the app offers.I would love to see a number displayed on each item, which then can be typed in the app to get relevant text/audio of each specific item. With a bit more English and some work on the app this place can be incredible!

An absolut MUSST SEE! Whether it is a start bevore you travel around and visit the Temples or as a finish, when you have seen them all and now you like to have a fundament background. I recommend a guide. We booked a Combi-Tour with the Chapultepec Castle and it was wounderful. Also no problem, if you cant walk a lot. Just remember, the famous fethercrown is a replica. If you wanna see the real one, you have to go to Vienna!

Just a beautiful, beautiful museum. The architecture was gorgeous and the flow of the rooms were wonderful. It was definitely not geared to foreigners so if you are interested in the history you should get a tour guide because almost everything is in Spanish. We mostly walked the first floor as the second floor was more modernistic and not what we were interested in. Furthermore after the halfway through the first floor it got har for us to keep interest as we didnt understand much of the museum. But what we did understand and see was gorgeous. Worth the 80 peso entrance fee.
